3-0 out of 5 stars Some decent material
I agree with the other reviewer that said this book is not for the aspiring PUA.Although my website the Seduction Bible deals with more with becoming a pick up artist.i also tend to enjoy reading the books more grounded in the way things are. That is why this book, along with The Art of Seduction, work for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars It should get 6 stars! * * * * * *
Since I'm not shy, I had some doubts about whether the book would be helpful, because the title implied it was geared towards shy people.
5-0 out of 5 stars FINALLY, an average schlep who understands the plight of the average schlep.
One of the biggest problems I've had with most self-help material on women is that they typically brush off the past as insignificant. But for most people who have extreme difficulty with women -- as opposed to those who at least have occasional success -- truly understanding our inner working AND HOW WE CAME TO BE THIS WAY is paramount to overcoming the obstacles. How can you defeat fear if you don't know where it comes from? Well, maybe some people can brainwash themselves, but not lonely, introverted, critical thinkers. And that's where this book stands out. The author offers keen insight into fear and shame and how they evolve throughout our lives, and in particular, in those early formative years. In fact, the first few chapters of this book may as well have been my autobiography! (Although he hardly mentions religion, which in my case, was a significant contributor to my self-defeating attitude and behavior.)

3-0 out of 5 stars A very mixed bag of articles to read with eyes wide open
"Basic Communications of Intercultural Communication" is a collection of thirteen essays on a variety ofcross-cultural topics, mostly those affecting people of different nationalities or speaking different languages. The quality of the articles is very uneven.5-0 out of 5 stars Basic Concepts of Intercultural Communication
This is a must read book, especially for those dealing with intercultural communication, both in the areas of foreign language learning and business management. I read some of the articles twice even three times and found the them very inspiring for my teachings as they provided a strong foundation on cross cultural understanding; moreover they have helped me a lot in highlighting the sensitive matters in intercultural communication to my class. I assume anyone dealing with people from different cultural background need to know the arts of intercultural communication, as misunderstanding might result in losing the business. I am quite positive that this book will also be of great help for managers, business people who have to deal with their foreign partners.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fundamental reference I return to again and again.
This book was my initial introduction to the field of intercultural communication and I seem to return to it often as a reference point in thinking about new intercultural works that I wish to more deeplyunderstand. The chapter on marginality by Janet Bennett is particularlythought provoking and helpful around personal identification issues relatedto biculturality. I strongly suggest this book to anyone seeking tobetter understand intercultural relations.I can't seem to keep it off mydesk and get it back on the shelf. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
The quality and cost of the book was quite disappointing. The pages that were stapled in the book were out of order and other pages were falling out. The first impression was not good.
1-0 out of 5 stars What Really Works
I find books like this help you with opening remarks, like simple one-liner ice breakers. OK, so they feed you some lines and then what are you supposed to talk about? If you don't know many people at the event, it's hard to come up with something interesting that won't end with you red-faced, or with your foot firmly in your mouth. I find online knowledge services like Agogus.com are very helpful in this respect, more that these kinds of books. I have more confidence to start a conversation, now that I have a wide knowledge of all kinds of topics. It's even fun to go to holiday parties, not a pain like it used to be.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent but there are better books available on the subject
I purchased this book, along with "Conversationally Speaking" by Alan Garner and "How To Start a Conversation and Make Friends" by Don Gabor. I bought all three books because I find that reading multiple books on a subject helps me remember the subject's key points more easily.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most important books I've ever read
I initially bought this book because I wondered if being in love was just an addiction. But I learned so much more than that. This book should be helpful for practically everyone. It talks about how our love relationships are related to unmet needs from childhood. It described my parents relationship almost exactly and I see how it affected me. It was amazing that anyone knew all this stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
Not only discusses the symptoms, but also walks you through some steps to stop it, and to work through it. A wonderful book. I keep it on my bedside and consult it frequently even though I have read it cover to cover.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for addicts who want real love!
I can't believe I am the first one to review this book! After struggling with addictions of all sorts for years (including alcohol, drugs, sex, and love addiction), I finally determined why I kept sabotaging my relationships with women. My compulsive search for something to help me feel less pain came from my childhood, and this book was the stepping stone that helped me see that there was hope to overcome this tricky addiction, seek help, and learn to love myself and others with authenticity. 5-0 out of 5 stars Thinking man's dating guide
There can be no ultimate "solution manual" for understanding women and being successful in dating them. However, with this book Fenton offers a paradigm shift in dating and interacting with women that should have near-universal applicability. His system removes the stress and anxiety for men that are associated with dating, both before and after. Amazingly, Fenton's methods are grounded in a healthy respect for both women and men, and they create win-win situations for both parties. You will, however, need to be mature and disciplined to implement these strategies. I am skeptical about any "understanding women" book written by a man, and my skepticism extended to this title as well. But I enthusiastically recommend this book, and it should be in the hands of every sophisticated man on or about to reenter the dating scene.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Advice, Scientifically-based, Well-written
Sure, I admit I liked the title, because stumbling naked in the dark is how I've often felt when trying to date people, and even later, when trying to work through a failing romantic relationship, or failing close friendship. But as a trainer, I'm intrigued by the fact that the author--also a trainer--based this book on his company's results-oriented training programs.
4-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!!
The author seems to know want women want. His approach is definitely unique and unconventional, but I think he hits the nail right on the head. We want all those things: to be treated like a queen and feel taken care of. We do sometimes take things for granted and think men don't have feelings...but they do. Some of them show theirs, some don't. But the only way to know is to be honest and communicate. I've had this book for a while and just recently re-read it - it reminded me that life in dating world is definitely not a game...it's a real life adventure!!! Get out there and live! ... Read more

Excellent book. Have other books by the same author. Easy to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good advice
I used to be bad with people and studied the heck out of books like "How to Win Friends and Influence People." There's solid advice in this book, but I too would have liked more practical step by step advice. For instance, I'm bad at keeping track of what my subordinates' special strengths are. I would have liked more advice on what to look or listen for.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very good read into the difficulity of sexual relationships.
"Resurrecting Sex" is a great find in that it really confronts probelms many people face in their sexual realationships. It's not all about the catch words of "low-libido" or whatever, there are other factors involved. This book goes into great detail to flush these probelms out and help with sexual matters.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thorough and detailed
This is a very thorough and detailed book, which presents the topic from a cognitive point of view.I found it a bit heavy on case studies and slanted toward cognitive approaches, but there is still a lot to learn here.
5-0 out of 5 stars A classic book, just take a look at the contents.
I cant say im a complete extrovert at this moment, but thanks to this book I have opened my eyes to a new way of thinking about communication in a most delightful way. The title describes communication as a skill, something I personally haven't even begun to understand yet until I picked this book up and since then my skills have multiplied enormously. The book contains all the essential information you need and more. Just take a look at the contents. This is one of those books that will never be out-dated, Five stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars A provocative, humane resource...
Ethical Slut is a provocative, positive in depth practical look into sexual relationships while peering into the actual and potential effects on the participants. As a librarian/researcher in various subject fields I have found this study/map/guide into human sexual relationships to be well thought out if not controversial but humane resource. The authors are well versed in their subject matter that focuses on the multi-layered levels involved in ethical consensual non-monogamy. Written in lay terms, it is highly readable, though not exhaustive, it brings a wealth of clarity to the dynamics of our changing sexual paradigms. Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must For Every Stage in your Relationship
This hits every point exactly! It is an objective point of view that relates to what you're going through as well as how you choose to make it through on the other side - and what you need to have a succesful relationship.Or to just make sure you don't make the same mistakes over and over.I would highly recommend it!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Right of Passage (spelling is intentional)
"Crazy Time" is a useful book for reading about some of the emotions you may experience in decoupling a marriage. The author discusses marital deadlock, separation, feeling on-edge, denial, shock, ambivalence, depression and three phases of rebirth. I finished the book for what is hoped to be a useful broadening of perspective for which only the passing of time will render a fair verdict. There are some significant criticisms, however.
5-0 out of 5 stars I didn't realize everyone went through this!
I stumbled across this book in a used bookstore, and I believe it was FATE that I found it!This book helps explain the erratic behavior most people experience during the divorce process, WITHOUT JUDGEMENT.She does not try to assign "right" or "wrong" behaviors, simply "behaviors."People who are looking to blame spouses for their actions will not find a willing ear, but this book is for people who want to move on with their lives, yet seek to understand why we act the way we do.Extremely insightful, I've recommended this book to others going through divorce, and they have all found passages that have helped them personally. Buy this used, since you will probably loan it out to someone who won't give it back! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Book That Sticks With You
I was particularly taken by this very sad story and in fact read it again, almost a year later (something I rarely do).The author had everything it takes to keep my interest and make the story real enough to haunt me for a long time. This is an excellent memoir.

5-0 out of 5 stars They Cage the animals at night
Growing up was hard for me. As the oldest of three, eventually five, with a mon addicted to crack cocaine, I moved from hosue to house, from school to school. Though always with family. When I read this book I cried until I couldn't cry anymore. Selective amnesia has made it difficult to remember the simplest of things but I will never forget this book and its incredible author, that taught me not that life is rough but that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I read this book almost ten years ago, during a time in my life when I wished to end it all but this book gave me the courage to go on and now at 22 yrs of age I am happier than I've ever been.

This book was engaging at times, and very honest. But for the most part, I found Stephanie Klein to be very self-absorbed, and just not all that interesting.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can I Get My Money Back?
A friend who read the author's blog fanatically reccomended the book to me, so I picked it up a few days after it was released.
2-0 out of 5 stars Rode Hard and Put Away Fried.
Actually, the best title for this book would have been "Me! Me! Me!" as that's Stephanie Klein's real focus during the tale. What we have here is an infantpiece devoted to self-absorption. There appears to be little she is capable of noticing about the external world which does not directly concern her. This young lady's emotions and perceptions appear to be an end in them self. Our self-described artist states that she is frighteningly open, but this may well be due to there being nothing of substance to hide.

I read this and was laughing so hard.We have all been there!

1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Worthy Here
I knew before I started reading Candice Bushnell's Sex and the City it was not the HBO series, so that wasn't a surprise. What was a surprise is that this so-called "author" is about as literary as a discarded apple core. There's nothing smart nor funny in this book. Bushnell's writing is flat, lifeless, and dull. This book does nothing but cast a spotlight on the empty, materialistic, shallow, insecure lives of New York's wealthy and "beautiful people." She never casts an opinion about these pathetic souls, so you're constantly asking the question, why should I care about any of these characters. Not one character has a redeeming quality, and poor Carrie is portrayed as a self-involved, border-line alcoholic--no wonder no one wants her. Not one character in Sex and the City is interesting, witty, or even identifiable with anyone who doesn't share the same shallow emptiness. The only thing the book imparts is a grateful feeling that you are not one of these pathetic losers. I'm grateful that Darren Star and Michael Patrick King were able to transform this piece of garbage into a witty, vibrant, sexy television series that will be remembered far longer than this wretched piece of effluvium.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Every Man and Woman Looking for Mr./Ms. Right!
Oh, brother, was I ever looking for love in all the wrong people!Until I read this book, I didn't realize the meaning of commitment, nor did I have the tools to eliminate emotionally unhealthy individuals from my list of prospective mates.Dr. Warren has written the best book on finding the perfect mate for me, how to eliminate obstacles BEFORE things get too involved and, most importantly, how to recognize deal-breakers right at the beginning.I will read this book again and again in order to reinforce Dr. Warren's principles for finding my perfect partner and best friend!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Eye opening and wonderful
My fiance and I purchased our first copy of this book four years ago; before Dr. Warren was popularized by the TV commercials. We found it to be so helpful in our relatioship, that we recently purchased several more copies as gifts for our grown children (from previous marriages). If you're not currently in a relationship, the book has a great section to help you determine the type of person you would be compatible with. For those already in relationships, it helps you determine how compatible you are. There is a wonderful list of 50 items to discuss with your relationship partner. These items will help determine your compatibility on a wide range of issues, from finances and parenting to the temperature setting of your home.We highly recommend the book to everyone seeking or currently in a relationship.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helped me to wait for the right man
I read this book more than 10 years ago when I was 21 years old and dating my first boyfriend (I was picky). My boyfriend and I read it together and found it very helpful. In fact, we realized that we weren't for each other!

5-0 out of 5 stars Silly title but a wake up call to grow up
I just came across this on Amazon.I read it over 10 years ago after a break up when I knew I didn't want to do the same old "sour grapes, who needed him" bull.I remember loving the book and trying it all, taking the higher road, feeling the grief and really trying to be his friend and supportive.I really gave the book a shot and 10 years later I am still married to my best friend in the world, the guy I read the book regarding.I can't attribute it all to one book but this is a great start at getting clear, taking responsibility and growing up emotionally.I recommend it and therapy and know that the right relationship will reveal itself if you do the footwork.I did find this book at the exact right moment and if you can get past the title I think it has a lot to offer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Paying Attention is the key
If you care less, you are never going to get the meaning of this book and will definitely give up on trying to get your lover back, and in effect, won't.I was recently engaged and my lover called it off and said I wasn't "the one" for her.Applying Dr. Harris' principles has helped turn things the other direction.
4-0 out of 5 stars Insightful, even if it didn't quite work as I would have liked
Well, I will start out by saying that this book did not work for me when I was reading it. (I must say I am glad it didn't now, but all the same..) I think as many reviewers have noted, that this book would be great for people (especially men...sorry guys, but it is true) who actually have contact with their ex. But for those of us average folks who, when an adult relationship ends, don't see our ex any longer on a regular basis, the information is useless for the purpose described by the book's title. However, I feel that were I in a troubled relationship, this book would be great to read for advice to prevent it from ending. It was very insightful to read and learn after the fact, the things that I did which may have ultimately doomed the relationship.
