5-0 out of 5 stars Only Knowledge Will Save You
This book is a must for everyone interested in promoting and preserving good health. Sadly, instead of educating the public in proper nutrition, focusing on decease prevention measures, and researching, studying and promoting the use of effective natural cures, the "far removed from nature" western medical establishment is indoctrinated into subscribing and relying entirely on pharmaceutical drugs, most of which are ineffective and produce debilitating, dangerous and sometimes lethal side effects. 5-0 out of 5 stars Learn about the battle going on
"A hospital is like a war"Here you have it from a doctor who has been there and done that.As he describes the things that go on in a hospital it is amazing that anyone comes out alive. It does not surprise we when they are several people I personally know who have gotten very ill in a hospital from something COMPLETELY unrelated to why they entered. This book needs to be read by all.

4-0 out of 5 stars great seller
Very very good communication. Despite having an unexpected hospital stay, got my item shipped to me and stayed in communication until I received it. The book was in great condition as described. I'd definitely do business again. Thanks so much! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Modern, Factual, Agenda-Free Handbook on Modern Drug Abuse
Some folks reviewing this book don't seem to understand the purpose for which the book was intended:This is a general consumer book with "straight facts" from Ph.D.s in pharmacology and chemistry on "the most used and abused drugs."This isn't intended to be comprehensive. It it certainly isn't about grandstanding as some tool in the "war on drugs."The motto in this book is "Just say Know."

great condition, recived very fast in mail

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Drug Reference Book
"Buzzed" is written in an easy to read format, without a lot of unnecessary technical jargon. The specific terminology that has been used has, in many cases, been defined for the reader. The information is well organized and gives a good broad overview of each drug.It is an excellent reference book to keep around. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Doctors Book of Home Remedies
This book is very informative and well organized. It is easy to read and gives excellent, helpful, detailed solutions for nearly every imaginable medical problem, as well as information on when to see a doctor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not a doctor but reads like one!
I bought this book after getting fed up taking myself to the doctor to hear that it is just a bad cold or something that could be remedied at home. I had the wonderful experience of letting myself get addicted to nasal decongestant. Not the saline spray! I know that my body can become resistant to antibiotics and the side effects are scary! 5-0 out of 5 stars Cheaper than a doctor, and more fun!
This book is an excellent source of information, with thousands of direct-to-the-point pieces of advice that are apparently effective (at least those remedies that I tried worked.) The doctors' advice is clear, direct and absent of techincal medical terms. It's a "do this" and "here's why" kind of advice rather than a lot of theory.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for all you "abandonholics" out there!
I just wanted to comment on another reviewer's words before I give my review. The book does zero in on getting past abandonment to establish a healthy romantic relationship, but the things that made you an abandoment victim may or may NOT have had anything to do with with prior romantic situations. See more in my review that follows:
5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTICSOLUTIONS FOR LIFE

5-0 out of 5 stars Journey to Healing
This book has had a profound positive effect on my life.I went through a painful breakup just a couple of months before I happened to come upon this book in the bookstore.I was so upset about my breakup, I lost over 30 lbs, (and I was thin to begin with), was put on an anti-depression by my doctor and started seeing a Therapist 3 days a week because I was suicidal. This book truely helped me to let go and to realize that loving yourself is the path to healing. It also taught me how to take my ex off the pedestal and see my relationship for what it really was and to move on with my life. This book helped me to gain a feeling of self-worth and to truely realize that I will love again and someone will love me again, but the most important thing is to love yourself. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best acupoints reference around
This is a great reference for anyone who wants to study the main acupoints. The pictures are great and wonderful. This is great for massage therapist or anyone interested in learning the energy meridian points. i wish the creators had an electronic version so that we can practice finding the points and seeing the flow of chi. They have this on their Qpuncture 2 cdrom, however, not everyone needs all the info on accupuncture needling. The only drawback is that the index format isn't sturdy. It can't be a portable study guide as the papers can easily tear if you flip through the pages too fast or from being uncareful. You can take the time to study it though. it's very organized with high quality visual pictures, info of where point location and how to put needles as well as when to use each point. Cool thing is that you see surounding bones, muscles, tendons, sinews, picture comparison to location of other points. Emphasis of the Qdex is on finding the location by having visual of surrounding anatomy parts. Get this if your serious about learning acupoints and get Qpuncture II cdrom if your serious about accupuncture. This product really goes above a 5 star. only complaint is sturdiness. would of been better if it were a hardback or paperback book reference which i hope will be considered in the next edition.

4-0 out of 5 stars cool study guide
This Qdex is great in most aspects or learning the basics. the pictures are 3 dimensional and you can see where the points are. The only complaint i have is that it's thin in it's index format. You can really flip through the qdex. you have to flip through it slowly so that the pages won't tear. It would of been cool if there were an electronic version of this so that you can practice finding points with a touch screen or see the flow of the meridians. They have the qpuncture software, however, that one goes so much more in depth then the qdex which is find for students to learn the points, especially those that just want to learn points for accupressure. having it as a flashcard format might be cool too so you can carry a few around to study. The qdex is not sturdy enough to be portable. It won't last long because of it's lack of studiness. It would of been better for the creators to make a book format. Would of given it a 5 but it won't last long as the pages can easily tear. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent & necessary book
Since being diagnosed with Hepatitis C, I've read Dr. Palmer's book, & continue to review it as questions come up.It is irreplaceable as a resource book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Review on Dr. Palmer's Guide to Hepatitis & Liver Diesease
I have read several books on liver disease but none of them are as good as this one.I have read the first edition a few years ago and it was very helpful since I have Hepatitis B and cirrhosis. It helped me a lot in understanding the treatment such as liver biopsy, interferon and Lamivudine. It probably helped me in staying alive and healthy since I followed her advice ondiet, exercise and taking drugs and supplements.I learned that some herbs, supplements and drugs such as iron, vitamin A and aspirin that Itook previouslly could be harmful.I also restricted my salt content and fat in my food. The second edition is even better since it is even more update on the supplements and drugs. The information on Glucosamine is particularly welcome since it helped a lot in my osteoarthritis.I highly recommend this book to anyone with Hepatitis.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of Dr. Palmer's Guide toHepatitis and Liver Disease
The much anticipated 2nd edition of" Dr. Melissa Palmer's Guide to Hepatitis and Liver Disease" hits an out of the park home run.In the five years since the first publicationmuch new and vitalinformation will enable its readers to digest the new drugs and treatment options which will be available to them. This edition will shed important new light on the latest findings worldwide to enable people with all types of liver disease to better understand theirliver ailmentand learn how best to deal with this chronic disorder.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A decent book for the un-informed.
Book gave basic information about the disease.I would like to have seen more in-depth information about the causes, statistics and treatment. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and am already aware of the majority of the information in the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Been There
Having been a patient of Ms. Sebastian's several years ago, I can honestly say that everything she talks about in this book is based on what real women (like me) have been through.I especially liked the coverage of the anxiety that can frequently go along with the depression, of which many people are unaware. This book is easy to read and understand, which can be helpful when you are suffering from depression/anxiety and may be having trouble with memory or concentration.Other women's "stories" in the book help you to realize that you are not alone and that there is successful treatment.I am proof!

Don't even think of starting or running a gym without reading this one!The ideas and lessons saved me thousands.Great for the staff too.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Read
I am 18 years old and very interested in running a gym in the future.I believe this book can help me enormously.I worked at the front desk of a low budget gym, selling memberships for 6 months.I had a great time, but members constantly complained about the broken machines.Even so, members renewed their contracts at a pretty constant rate.By reading this book, I was able to target the pros and cons of the gym that I worked at, and I am even more excited about having a chance to possibly get involved in the fitness industry on a high level.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great resource!

Editorial Review

One in ten Americans suffers from thyroid dysfunction, yet most don't realize the mental and emotional components of this condition. "This is the first book to explain the hidden suffering that many patients have difficulty expressing and the first book to provide new ways of helping address and heal this suffering," promises author Ridha Arem, M.D., associate professor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and chief of endocrinology and metabolism at Ben Taub General Hospital, both in Houston, Texas. This book explains the link between stress and thyroid imbalance; how thyroid imbalance affects your emotions, sex life, and relationships; and how to cope with the effects of this imbalance. Because thyroid problems primarily strike women, a whole section deals with women's health issues, such as infertility, miscarriage, postpartum depression, premenstrual syndrome, and menopause. Another section provides practical tools, such as evaluating lab tests and self-diagnosis techniques, dealing with treatment problems and side effects, and preventing memory lapses and depression. The book covers lifestyle choices that affect thyroid health, such as diet, supplementation, and exercise. Frequent case studies (usually told as first-person narratives), checklists, and questionnaires help to simplify the material and make it easier to check the medical information against your own situation. Each chapter ends with "valuable points to remember," making review easy. If you suffer from thyroid imbalance, or think you might, this book could be a valuable resource. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best!
This book is an eye opener. It has saved us from becoming victims of misdiagnosed thyroid disorders.I bought three books: one for myself, one for my son's doctor and one for my mother-in-law. I learn so much about why we are the way we are.Recognizing the problems is half of the battle.I just can't thank Dr. Arem enough!

4-0 out of 5 stars Frank Cooper - Australia
This is a valuable book for the layperson and professional, for the understanding of the complexities and properties of vitamins and minerals. However this book is now 10 years old and showing signs of age, and would benefit from a significant update, as some of the information is no longer applicable.
5-0 out of 5 stars If you have one book on nutritional supplements, this should be it.
This isn't the latest, but it's the best. If you have one book on nutritional supplements, this should be it. I'd read it before your first, next, or whatever visit to the nutritional supplement store or aisle.

This is an awesome quick reference book for students of TCM. I used it when studying single herbs and it is even more helpful when studying formulas. It is perfect for the student who really wants to learn about the specific role each individual herb takes in a formula.

5-0 out of 5 stars Concise, convenient, and comprehensive
This book contains descriptions of the 300 most commonly prescribed herbs. The book is small enough to fit comfortably in my pocket, but it spends most of the time in our herbal pharmacy. It contains all the information I need, regarding pertaining category, channels, properties, functions and indications, dosage, and warnings and contraindications. It is easy for me to use to adjust formulas or to use as a starting point in creating new formulas for my patients. I was a student of Dr. Xu, and I have first-hand knowledge of her expertise and clarity in explaining the use of herbs. For a layperson, this book would be useful for finding out more about the herbs used in any prescription you receive. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book
I recently purchased this book in order to understand the complexity of behavior of certain people. Often times, health professionals make a mistake of targeting only one causative aspect of the problem while either ignoring or not recognizing the other. Ignorance of many psychologists and psychiatrists about dual disorders is due to the rarity of this problem. This book is a must read for both mental health providers and their patients. I also believe that many others will benefit from this book even those who do not show underlying symptoms of this disorder. This book helped me understand the reasons as to why some people seems as if they are not making any effort when they actually are.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reading
This book explores the ways in which family members can understand dual diagnosis. It is helpful for the parent who struggles with kids that have really two troubles (addiction and other mental disorders). Dr. Ortman is concise and offers case studies to explore this issue. I would recommend the book to anyone who is struggling themselves with dual diagnosis or has a loved one who suffers from addiction as well as mental illness. It is easy to read even for a lay person and offers helpful ideas for anyone interested in this issue. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute must for families with food allergies
After learning that our son had five severe food allergies and ten additional serious food sensitivities, I checked this book out of our local library. It only took a few pages before I realized that I would definately want to purchase the book to have on hand permanently. It is an invaluable resource for understanding, identifying, and dealing with allergies of all kinds, and will be the best money you have ever spent in the interest of your family's health. It exceeded my expectations.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for every parent
Allergies are more common than we think, especially in children. We often hear about kids with reccurent ear infections, chronic stuffy nose, or puffy eyes. We also know at least one hyperactive child, or a child with eczema.
