This therapy is amazing!!I've struggled with depression all my life and tried almost every antidepressant available. This regimen is as good as any prescription drug.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does this mean they LISTENED TO US???
The PDR has always been a uniquely important source. However, in various respects the format has been problematic, as some of us have noted. I assume we were not alone--we were probably just a few voices among many. And happily, it looks like perhaps the publisher and its fellow parties have listened.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the Pill Book
I've been using the pill book for years. It comes in handy when taking medication. It tells you everything you need to know, and it's easy to use.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Welcome Resource With A Few Standout Flaws
I recently bought The Pill Book after hearing so much about it, then later finding it applicable to my own circumstances.I won't delve into its assets, because I believe they speak for themselves. However, upon reviewing my new purchase, I was disappointed to note a couple of glaring deficiencies in the book's content.5-0 out of 5 stars An Outstanding Reference
This book is indespensible reference for anybody who wants to see the whole picture about specific drug.Yes, some of them do more harm than good as they produce side effects that can overweight prospective cure; also, some relatively harmless drugs can be dangerous if taken together. This book help us get all the facts so we can make the right decission before we actualy start taking drugs.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Depth, Breadth and Easy to Use
I sought out and read many books on menopause over the past five years, but none have been as readable, complete, and respectful to readers. The compelling personal stories resonate and create trust in the book's authoritative medical and non medical advice. Concise descriptions of even rare conditions depict the care that must have been taken to write this book. Unlike many menopause tomes, it does not talk down, preach, or prostelitize. This books offers alternative opinions on aspects of this important transition and gives women confidence to chart their own course.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Gluten-Free Bible
There are serious inaccuracies in this book that can cause a great deal of stress for a celiac. The section on medications with gluten is especially troubling as it causes someone who thought they were safe to worry for no reason. Most troubling is her treatment of the risks of cancer. Her treatment is both superficial, incaccurate and unrealistic. First she says that the risk is the same whether you maintain a gluten free diet or not. Then she says that the only thing you can do about it is to not worry about it. Her discussion of picking food out of a sandwiches is poor advice. In one section she understands the problems of cross contamination, yet doesn't seem to understand that picking apart food is more of a risk than using a toaster. Finally, her flip advice about how to avoid answering questions is ridiculous. Why not be honest instead of avoiding the questions. It's up to the person as to how many details they want to give. But avoiding the issue is not the answer.

5-0 out of 5 stars By far the best and the most fun to read...
I started with Bette Hagman's books and was under-whelmed, to say the least. If you want plain ol' comfort food, Bette is the place to go, but for my tastebuds and style of dining, Jax is the WOMAN!!
1-0 out of 5 stars Do not hear, do not obey...
If you have a mild to moderate gluten intolerance, you can MAYBE follow this book's advice and be safe. If you have full on Celiac Disease, you will find yourself sick in a single digestive cycle!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Except....
The book is well-documented and gives complete and clear explanations of diseases, causes, and possible solutions - ultimately suggesting which product is a natural way to releive symptoms and improve health. That's fine, except they don't do enough to alert you that fixing one thing may be bad for another. While you can talk live to an "advisor" anytime, they are not medical doctors and may not be aware of negative consequences of an item. For example, if you have burning with urination, the book and advisors may lead you to take the potent "CRANMAX" which may be excellent for urinary tract infection. But if the burning is from prostrate problems, a heavy dose of cranberry juice (quite acidic) is not a good idea.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Baby Boomer's Survival Manual- A "Must Have" Book
As the largest block of Americans approaches the ranks of senior status, we face an economy that is incapable of taking care of us we become feeble incompetent old people, especially when there will be more people over the age of 50 in the USA than under the age of 50 by the year 2025!!We owe it to ourselves and our children to be strong, healthy, vital seniors capable of thinking for ourselves, strong enough to carry our own groceries, healthy enough to function independently and if we need to, continue to work well past 65 to support ourselves. The only way to do this is with the Prevention of Disease, not by treating the symptoms of degenerative diseases after they occur. This comprehensive text is extremely valuable for anyone interested in saving their own future, from the medical person to the average consumer of nutritional products.

4-0 out of 5 stars For beginners
This basic manual for Pilates is especially helpful because of the cautions about avoiding poor form while you're doing the exercises. The limitations of any book attempting to teach you how to do physical movements is offset by the authors' knowledge of what mistakes typical beginners make.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not good for a complete novice.
I'm training for a certain activity and was told that Pilates would be great to do because many people in the sport do it.I knew _absolutely nothing_ about Pilates.I asked around at local fitness clubs but couldn't find any instructors.Lacking local instruction, I bought this book based on the recommendations here.
5-0 out of 5 stars A treasure chest of Pilates exercises for a hard body
Joseph H. Pilates, the German inventor of the Pilates exercise method must be smiling in the heavens. The lifelong pacifist who was born in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1880... devoted his life to the study of physical education. He moved to the United States in 1926 and afterwards became active with the New York City Ballet."Pilates; body in motion," by Alycea Ungaro of Tribeca Bodyworks is a treasure chest of Pilate exercises for a hard body.

3-0 out of 5 stars Unwieldy in Every Sense, Needs Revision
I give this book three stars because I don't regret buying it, and I've used it frequently.
2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Foods are conveniently organized alphabetically, but portions are not clear so it's difficult to use when trying to track calories.Example, grapefruit shown by size (diameter) - would be more accurate and convenient if all foods were shown in ounces and if the portion preceded nutritional content on every line.

3-0 out of 5 stars Uniform measurements, please!
We have been using this book for about a decade, and appreciate that it does seem to include every morsel of food in a supermarket aisle.

1-0 out of 5 stars The book is a mish mosh
It's too bad this book is a mish mosh and that neophytes in Chinese medicine are not going to know this. Some of the material is very standard and authentic, but a lot of it is the authors' own invention. So be careful with this. If you want the real deal, this is not the book you want. A better introduction to standard Chinese medicine is Kaptchuk's classic, The Web That Has No Weaver.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide to the Novice
I am a novice in the art of TCM and I do not speak or read chinese. This was an excellent guide for me in my studies in preparation to attend school for TCM and also how to get some practical benefit from my Chinese herbs. This was an Excellent Guide for the Novice.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to the tenets of TCM
I recommend this book to all of my clients! With so much focus being placed on alternative therapies in health care, it staggers me that so much of the general public still thinks that acupuncture is for idiots acting as a human pincushion. While it is far from an instruction manual (which was never its intent), Between Heaven and Earth gives laypeople a simplified and elegant explanation of an ancient science. If you're looking for a definitive education in TCM, go to a university and get a degree. If you want an introduction to wellness through Chinese Medicine, read this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
Great Book!Who better than a SEAL to write about achieving goals?Offers a rare perspective on the subject and very much worth the read.Goes in depth on the subject of fear and how to cope with it.Fear that keeps most of us from accomplishing the things in life that we really want to do.If you're afraid of doing the things in life that you really want to do, than get this book and read it until you know it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Effective
I have to admit, I never expected much from this book.I bought it on a whim because it was cheap and because I like military stuff. Then I read it, and I was amazed at just how useful it has been.Machowicz doesn't waste a lot of time telling you WHY to go after goals in your life.He leaves that up to you to decide. He just gives you combat-tested tools and strategies for HOW to do it. And if you think the combat metaphor is silly, don't. The mental process of overcoming obstacles in civilian life is really not that different from that of military personnel overcoming their obstacles. Most civilians just don't apply their minds in the same way elite soldiers do.In this book, Machowicz shows you that way.

5-0 out of 5 stars MemoryMinder Personal Health Journal
For me, this journal is an excellent way to enter information about my migraines/health habits in one place. It's a perfect resource to show my neurologist so she can peruse my journal to see if there are any triggers causing my pain as well checking on my medications (if they are doing more harm than good.)The journal is very well organizationed, and it is ideal for people who have "invisible" health problems:headache, fibromyalgia, etc. Also as a patient or a doctor you might be able to see some patterns that my contribute to your health problem (i.e. not enough sleep, exercise, eating, etc.)It's very handy; you can carry it in your bag or briefcase so you don't forget to write any pertinent information in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An ideal way to keep track of health and wellness
Most everyone who has been diagnosed with a chronic illness has been told to keep a journal of symptoms, medications, side effects, mood swings and a variety of other things. Keeping track of numerous health issues while feeling miserable was very difficult for me. I needed something that was organized and precise. The Memory Minder is just that. It allows me to keep all my personal health information in a convenient and easy-to-retrieve format. I'm able to look back and see when I started or stopped medications, discover patterns, and report to doctors clearly without wasting time. The book is also helpful for anyone applying for disability. The Memory Minder is a helpful product that I would recommend to anyone with a desire to track their personal health and wellness.

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST Health Journal I've Seen!
In my work, I see and evaluate many health journals. This one is, by far, the best I have ever seen. I will be recommending it to all the readers and patients with whom I work. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Way to Start the Day - Or Any Other Moment
The power in this book isn't necessarily in the DOING of the exercises but the contemplation of these little activities. I find that picking the book up when I've got a moment and reading one or two of the exercises gives me ample pause and brings on the results at which the suggested activity aims. I can say that DOING the exercise does make the result more intense or satisfying but benefits can be had by simply taking a moment to think about the suggestion at hand. In any case, I recommend this easy to follow and effective manual to living a more peaceful and peaceable life. I suppose any book which has at its' heart such worthy objectives as living more peacefully can't be bad! It certainly worked for The Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
