5-0 out of 5 stars The most effective (and easy) way to learn statistics
For a while, I was looking for a good book on statistics, and finally, I found it! This book is excellent for those who are going to start learning statistics (every thing is explained very well from very beginning!) as well as for those (like me) who look for more advanced books. It is almost perfect! It has precise and clear explanations, simple brief examples, thoughtfully chosen questions and tasks at the end of each chapter, good overall organization. Every word (well, sentence) contributes to understanding of concepts, no unnecessary information, no waste of time. Every new concept is built on the previous ones, no gaps in explanation, no unanswered questions. It feels as if the author follows a reader's mind, if some questions arise they get answered in the next paragraphs. Pure pleasure! Ultimate book on statistics! Highly recommend. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The Truth About This Book
I have researched this book so intensely that it would take far too much room here to express my opinion. While I do not wish to be too negative, I found that the book did not present a balanced view of the study of the mind and human behaviour, and certainly did not back up its claims, nor show the complete truth about several things. To get a more extensive review, you are welcome to go here: http://wisdomfromtheword.blogspot.com/
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
The book was a better deal and in better condition than the books that were offered at my campus bookstore! I am very pleased :-D

5-0 out of 5 stars Won't put you to sleep!
I was assigned this text for a college General Psychology course, and upon reading it cover to cover, I found that it was quiet interesting! The book uses simple terms so it is easy to understand what really matters, rather than trying to memorize countless definitions, and it has a story at the beginning of each chapter to help put each concept in perspective. In comparison to other dry, and complicated psychology books which I have had in the past, I highly suggest this book to anyone wishing, or forced to, study psychology. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Interviewing for Solutions
Great strengths based approach to working with families and young people from vulnerable communities.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book for All
"Interviewing for Solutions" is wonderful. I would encourage anyone interested in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to read this book. "Interviewing for Solutions" supplies the reader with a overview of SFBT, as well as demonstrating SFBT in action via examples of interviews with various clients. Regardless of the counseling orientation one takes when assisting clients, the book provides valuable tools for all! In addition to this book, I would highly suggest obtaining a few of the lecture tapes of Berg, de Shazer and etc from the Brief Family Therapy Center.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book on Interviewing--Period!
Although solution focused-brief therapy is considered a paradigm, this book could very well be used in any introductory, microskills class, and it should. Read more

Im from Argentina, and I was wondering if you could send me the abstract of chapter 12 from this book, because here is imposible to get it. Thanks anyway. 5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for researchers in SWB
Although the book tackled a lot of material pertinent to Attitude and Personality Measurement, I find it really useful in my research-interest in Subjective Well-Being (SWB). A chapter was dedicated to SWB, it's theories, tests and development. It is a really must-have book for those interested in SWB.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank Goodness for This Book
If it weren't for this book, and for James Webb, I might have believed the teachers and psychologists who told me that something was really wrong with my daughter. After reading this book, I realized that several things were really right with her, but that we weren't handling her in the ways most likely to help her adapt and succeed.
1-0 out of 5 stars where to start?
I have so many problems with this book that there is no way one review can include them all.I'm going to list some of the major ones here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Vital information at an appropriate time!
After having read this book, I can't help but wonder how many lives have been damaged by the ignorance of those involved in the Mental Health occupations.I hope when parents (or even non-parents) read this book, they learn how important it is to be self-informed (at least to some degree) before they go trusting "professional" help, especially when professionals these days are so sure of themselves and have so much power over others' lives. It's a fine line between playing God and being an appropriate therapist when it comes to understanding human behavior. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The only Rorschach interpretation book you'll ever need.
This book is, without question, the best book on Rorschach interpretation I have ever seen.Highly recommended.Weiner uses Exner's structural summary as the foundation, then incorporates Schafer's psychoanalytic approach for the interpretation of thematic imagery and idiosyncratic contents.Excellent integration of structural summary, thematic imagery, test behavior, and sequential analysis approaches. In addition to translating Exner's often stilted language into much more clinically useful language, the chapter on sequential analysis is worth the price of the book on its own.Excellent case presentations integrating the interpretive principles presented earlier close out the book.A must-have book for anyone who wants to make better sense of all the data provided by the Rorschach method.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent source for anyone interested in the Rorschach

4-0 out of 5 stars Great counseling resource!
This book offered good instructions for conducting family therapy, but it was not written for Christian counselors. This was strictly a "techniques" manual.Although the book was theologically limited because of its focus on secular counseling methods, helpful concepts were found. The strategic questions Dr. Worden asked were very insightful. However, an inexperienced therapist would have difficulty recalling questions during specific points of the session. One would have to compile these questions into notes and then refer to it during family counseling, which may inadvertently hamper the therapeutic process since the counselor is distracted with asking the "right" questions instead of understanding the family's presenting problem.Read more

This is an excellent book. It provides 'state of the art and science' information about past and emerging work in emotioanl intelligence and competencies. I highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you are serious about learning the background to E.I.
The Handbook of Emotional Intelligence is a must read for anyone who is serious about emotional intelligence.Through this book, Bar-On and Parker have brought together a world-class collection of academics, psychologists and researchers. Before the Handbook was written, researchers and practitioners who wanted to get to the bottom of emotional intelligence needed to look up thousands of sources to even start their research.Bar-On and Parker have completed a sterling effort - the chapters include hundreds of research studies and the links are made between many different strands of research on intelligence and emotion and they are brought together in a 'tome' of useful information. This book is not a light piece of bedtime reading. It is a text book which should be on the shelf of anyone who wants to hear direct from the key researchers who have helped to create the field of Emotional Intelligence, so well popularised by Daniel Goleman in his book 'Emotional Intelligence'. ...
