5-0 out of 5 stars Really Good book!
If you are a health professional, and you've ever wondered how to ask the difficult/awkward questions, you should read this book. I would in fact recommend it to anyone who knows, or works with, a disabled person.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent and comprehensive
i have a disability and am a compulsive reader, so i've seen what's out there.this is one of the best books on working with and relating to disabled people that i've encountered.i'd guess it would be useful to almost any kind of professional or educator working with people with disabilities--not just psychotherapists.4-0 out of 5 stars A patient reading
... Suffice it to say that I read the book, enjoyed it despite the dry clinical parts. The author gave me lots of insights and made me change therapists... My new therapist was threatened at first that I had read this book but she asked to borrow after two weeks.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Multivariate Analysis Made Clear
This is book provides a great introduction to multivariate analysis; including cluster analysis, multidimensional scaling, principal component analysis, and factor analysis. From all the introductory books available, this is by far the clearest and most appropriate for people without strong mathematical or statistical background. However, the examples in the book might be of interest to experienced analysts as well. Chapters start with a theoretical section and contain in-depth examples of multivariate analysis with real data. The examples are fascinating. For instance, by using multivariate methods to analyse different details of persian archers, it may be possible to conclude that they were created by different people. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Lucid presentation of statistical concepts
After sifting through dozens of texts, I thought I would never find one that combined the conceptual clarity of Tal's "Reading Between the Numbers" with the procedural thoroughness found in a traditional introduction to statistics. Then I came across this book. It is exceptionally well-written, and the chapter problems include questions that require thoughtful written responses. The only noticeable omission is significance testing for proportions. But having to go elsewhere if needed for fill-in material is a small price to pay for this gem of a text.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you afraid of stats--this it the book for you!
This is a great book for those who are starting out in statistics. The author is able to explain quite difficult statistical concepts in a way the reader will be able to understand. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Qualitative Research Methods for Psychologists: Introduction through Empirical Studies
This is an excellent resource for students and faculty who want to understand the thinking behind various methods of empirical qualitative research. It is a refreshing counterpoint to the many books on qualitative research in the social sciences that are embedded in a post-positivist world view.Although the book is geared toward psychologists, it can be useful to professionals in other human, health, and social service areas. One of the strengthens of the book is the way in which chapter authors provide examples from specific research projects to illustrate concepts and principles inherent in qualitative empirical research grounded in traditions such as phenomenology, hermeneutics, feminism, and discourse analysis. The examples help to demystify the thinking processes that underpin good research and give a language for explaining studies that do not conform to the conventions of post-positivism. I found the framework for conceptualizing five forms of validity to be particularly helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars A unique introductory book by a unique author
This, as the title suggests, is an introductory book about psychometrics. No different you might think from many of the introductory psychometric books that are now available to students and the interested non-specialistreader. However, you would be quite wrong. This is an introductorypsychometrics book with a difference. That difference is an introduction toquantitative scientific measurement and some preliminary exposure toKline's "New Psychometrics". This is a book that will invite a student tothink, in fact, the two chapters that introduce these two areas (at thebeginning and at the end of the book) will force certain issues to have tobe addressed by both lecturing staff and by the students themselves. Thisis a book that I now recommend for my own introductory psychometricsstudents - because it is not a cookbook of methods, but instead, athoughtful treatise on the whole area of psychometrics from the man who wasone of its most experienced proponents and practitioners. For this reason,it will also appeal to professional psychologists who wish to understandsome of the "big issues" in psychometrics, refresh themselves on basicconcepts and constructs, but also have available Kline's wit, experience, and common-sense approach.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
In the introduction, the authors state "our goal is to provide readers with books that will deliver key practical information in an efficient, accessible style." The authors have clearly met their goal - the book is clearly written and the examples are engaging and interesting. As the authors are professors, I was very surprised by this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressively easy to grasp
As a doctoral student, I found this book extremely well-written, useful and easy to understand.Includes real-world examples, which really help a new learner like myself get more comfortable with the concepts.Excellent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Multiple Regression
This is an excellent text. The content knowledge required to understand and use multiple regressing analysis is presented in real-world easy to follow language, meaning the concepts are explained in a way that is easy to follow, but at the same time, the heavy content is covered. Although the title does not explicitly convey this, the book provides excellent
5-0 out of 5 stars Worth considering
This is an excellent volume that introduces readers to regression, factor analysis, and structural equation modeling. It is accessible, but does not "dumb down" discussion of the techniques. This would be a nice volume for advanced statistics classes and is well worth considering as a textbook in such classes. For those who use statistics in research, this is also very useful. ...
