A hefty and solid workbook
I am familiar with Hendrix's Imago workshop format, attended one years ago in NY with my significant other. It was one of the most challenging and difficult weekend experiences of my life! The relationship did not last, having NOTHING to do with the workshop (it was hanging by threads before).
It's Not So Hard to Say "I Love You" Back.
According to these PhD authors, it is easier to give love than to receive it.It goes back to our childhoods when a parent failed to nurture and rejected the person who depended on him for her very life.When a mother is absent, and a mean uncaring father ignores the daughter, she ends up with a complex which clearly says "Nobody can love me, so why try."
Name that Attunement!
This latest book by Dr. Hendrix and Dr. Hunt speaks volumes to the necessary work of the couples I have seen in my practice over the years. This book is a natural progression from Harville Hendrix's earlier books for couples, singles and parents.

This is a great book
I have read this book over and over. I agree with other reviewers that the first half is better than the second half. However, that first half is really worth the read. As I write this, the book is out of stock so try and find a used copy. Do not be put off by the title that deals with war. As Dr Cowan states in the book, if you were doing anything else, say at work, you would be careful to research your subject and know as much about it as possible. Do not approach love half blind, knowing only your own side of how things work. Dr Cowan gives many valuable insights that you need to know if you are a woman trying to find a man, or trying to attract that one elusive man that you can't quite seem to win over. I have read many books on this subject, and there are many useful texts and perspectives, but this one really makes you realize some things about yourself, about men and about the male/female relationship. In particular he talks about women needing the security of a relationship to feel safe having sex, and men needing sex, to feel safe enough to enter a relationship. At one point you find yourself thinking it is amazing that any relationship ever gets off the ground when you realize the different ways men and women approach the whole thing. But you read on, and you read it over, and somehow it all starts to fall into place. This book gave me the knowledge and the courage to persevere with the one man who I was truly interested in and some tools to put to use in pursuit of him and I am so grateful that I did not give up. This book has really helped me.

The Art of War for Lovers
This is a well written and intelligent view of the battle of the sexes.Insightful and realistic in the acceptance of imperfection in us all.I particularly identified with waiting it out and not giving up until you are sure you can take no more. Willing to do the work

This book is GOLD guys!
Ever wanted to understand women and their behavior? Then here you have it! THIS IS THE MANUAL MEN HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR 10 MILLION YEARS! And yes, this is another "battle of our needs" book. And a lot of people find these books disturbing, and maybe a little stereotypical. But this is the 21st century, and we are finally beginning to understand this simple truth: Men and women are different and we have different needs. What a revelation! lol
Good to read together
My husband and I took turns reading this book and so many sections sounded just like us. The same quarrels over and over again. It was a breath of fresh air to know that other couples have the same misunderstandings. Without going into details, suffice to say we both learned a lot about each other.
My girl friend sent me this book - I dumped her.

Reality v. Fantasy
One of the things that I most appreciate about this book and it's companion volume is that they are so down to earth.It's easy, both in the flesh and blood scene and the online bdsm world, for people to blur the lines between reality and fantasy to the benefit of no one.For all its many technical considerations and fun bdsm is, at base, a process that occurs between humans.It's critical to have that firmly in mind and to stay actively IN RELATIONSHIP with one another while playing our grown up games.
Living BDSM
my Husband and i got the new bottoming and the new Topping book, and love them both. They have a great point of view from the two ladies to both sides, and lots of places to go to for more advice. A definite must for people living BDSM.

She's not there, an altered view
Complete genesis for this author from family man to SRS and eventual acceptance by friends, employer and family.This was an easy and enjoyable read which makes an interesting case study.(She's not there, Zombies)

Beautiful, Sad, Funny, and True
Jennifer Finney Boylan puts a human face on a condition that many of us only know from TV or other stories. Her memior is truly one of the most engaging, thoughtful, and honest stories I have ever read. As someone who had never given much thought to the transgendered society, I walked away from this book with a new understanding and respect for the bravery in which transgendered people must ultimately possess in order to become who they are supposed to be.

informative and written nicely
Being brought up with little knowledge in this area, this book very nicely presents sex in a positive, interesting and informative way. Not only physically and spiritually, also the healing powers of sex and relationships. I like how the book presents the material, some of the exersizes seam silly, however each to his own.

I have the feeling this book has been more put out for comercial reasons using some taoist knowledge.
new approach to sex
As a practising reflexologist, I found this book to be of great interest. In Europe many of us view sex in very a negative light, i.e., its dirty, something to feel guilt or ashamed about, or at the other end of the scale, a recreational sport, that should have no emotion attached to it.

excellent clinical resource
Drs. Gil & Johnson do an extraordinary job of presenting the complex dynamics that interplay in the development of children in families whose primary dysfunction is sexualized in nature.Developmental norms are provided, too, in order to distinguish expected behaviors from those which are unusual.The authors are quite capable of tieing together theory with case material, and then providing meaningful assessment and treatment information, not only for individuals but for groups and families as well.This book is a must-buy for all mental health professionals, and is sometimes difficult to find, so BUY IT.

Far From A Sex Manual
If you liked Moore's earlier works (especially 'Soul Mates'), or you are entirely new to his writing..there is something of wisdom and insight for everyone in this magical volume. As is true of Moore's other, related books, they invite you to a smorgasboard of ideas, knowledge and observations. You can pick and choose, take or leave, as you like. Whilst some of his chapters are slightly 'academic', there are many aspects to his interpretations that have perfect relevance to, and resonance with our own, everyday experiences. 'Intimacy within intimacies'-this book is like the candle we hold to the dark window, as we wonder how we might feel less alone in this world. It is a guide only. However, worth the journey and the read. Even if, a little indulgence does certainly go a long way.

I really like Thomas Moore's books but this one was definitely not one of his best. I found it very boring and it was kinda one of those books that just made no sense at all. I found it hard to continue to read the whole book even tho I did....

Rich Exploration of the Senses
Spiritual writers have always assumed we're trying to get to some loftier plane than this one, where there's lots of love but no sensuality. A sort of endless group hug, perhaps. Without entwining sex with its sentimental partner, love, this book examines the deeper meaning and life-affirming need behind our fascination with sex. Thomas Moore isn't the easiest writer to understand, I find I have to switch to some more lyrical level of my brain to follow him, but his elliptical style fits this subject well. And it's a hidden subject, one that vanishes if you look at it too directly. For all the joy and depth that sex brings to our lives, we treat it rather shoddily, plastering it with coyness, burying it in morality, or handing it off to biologists for dissection. The danger lies not in the concealment, for the elusiveness adds to the intrigue and mystery, but in thinking that we can separate sexuality and sensuality from the fabric of our lives. ... Thought provoking and educational

Why had no one ever told me this before?!!!
For 15 years, I asked health care professionals, Why have I lost my interst in sex? Why do I love my husband as much as I do and yet increasingly fear intimacy with him? What's WRONG with ME?!! Until I read this book no one could give me the answers to questions I had given up asking. Dr. Zolbrod's one-on-one writing style and brief case studies helped me to see how much my parents attitude about their and my sexuality influenced me more the older I got and the longer I was married. The information within this book brought a level of understanding and new lines of communication my husband and I never had before. I have never been so grateful to find and read a book, and yes--this book changed my life.

Aline Zolbrod is a wonderful sex therapist.Turns out she's a wonderful writer too. Her book Sex Smart: How Your Childhood Shaped Your Sexual Life and What To Do About It is on my list of favorites.If you understand where you've come from, you can maximize where you're going. So accessible and easy to read.Wonderful suggestions for ways to be in the driver's seat of your sexuality.

My #1 recommendation for a gay male leather audience
This was a rich delight to read.Many leatherfolk and leather-curious will appreciate the content, accurately described by the chapter titles:"Getting Started in Leathersex", "Playing with Power and Sex", "Playing with Pain", "Playing with Pleasure", "Playing with Life and Death", "Leather Relationships", "Anatomy, Physiology, and First Aid" and "Leathersex and Spirituality". Words for thought in the novice or experienced mind.
It can be difficult to balance between talking down to those who will feel they have a lot of experience in BDSM and tallking over those who are just learning about BDSM.This book does a good job of looking at a wide range of activities and interests, some of them for the first time, so that newbies can feel grounded while advanced kinky folk can mull over the concepts.Even though the book grew out of Bean's own journey toward becoming a master, I think the book can speak to anyone regardless of vanilla sexual orientation.However the book often reads more like it is geared toward the bottom or submissive partner in a relationship.

Joseph Bean does an outstanding job of explaining, demystifying and clarifying many aspects of BDSM. It is from a gay male perspective and would probably not be of tremendous interest to hets or lesbians, but gay& bi/pansexual bio- & transmen should thoroughly enjoy Bean's work,no matter what their level of involvement in BDSM. Absolutely Hilarious...
I just finished reading the book and I truly loved it.
Sexual Healing...Is Hard to Come By
In Paul Feig's memoir of adolescent lust and desire, "Superstud", he regales us with his lusty tales of ripping the bodices off nubile young women and having his way with them...okay, more like getting stuck watching someone else rip off those bodices. You see, Feig was something of a "late bloomer" when it came to the art of love and sex. The fact that he's willing to talk about it, openly and honestly, makes for a good tale.
Sex And The Semi-Geek
"Superstud", the sequel to "Freaks & Geeks" creator Paul Feig's childhood memoir "Kick Me", bills itself as a humorous recollection of the author's struggles dating the opposite sex. For those of us who know about being a casualty of love, there's undeniable appeal to such a project, and Feig delivers with comedy and surprising poignancy on occasion.

A Sex Guide For Everyone...
I thought I knew it all. I have been reading about sex for the last decade or more and gotten a chance to prqactice some of what I know, but this book really made me think twice. For one thing, it is written like the hip textbook you never got to read in high school. It also has a chapter on everything you could want to know about and then some. While I loved the fact that it gave some ideas of things to do, it was more the facts and basic information that I found really helpful. I loved this book so much, I have loaned mine to a good friend and bought a copy for another friend of mine. Because when it comes to sex, you can never know enough.

Great Book, Depressing Pictures
The text itself is funny and frank and really gets down to business.It will tell you everything about everything.It's an overall excellent reference book and would recommend that everyone have a copy to refer to whenever necessary.However, they used models for the pictures throughout the book.You feel like you don't deserve to have this wonderful sex unless you first are 5'10" tall and weigh 105 pounds, which is bizarre since it's wrote by two women.You'd think they'd get some realistic models, both male and female.Everyone who's taken a look at the book (male and female) has made similar comments.It's depressing.

Like Good Sex itself
This book, along with Guide to Getting it On, are probably two of the best books on the market recently written on this subject, with the approach of overall education.The tone is smart and down to earth.Like good sex, it has a touch of rawness and a bit of humor.Covers all the bases pretty well, as well as references for further reading for the extra curious.Everyone probably will learn something, though definitely geared a little more to the early 20s crowd.Good sections on anatomy and sexual health.One complaint -the models are all a bit waif-ish. ... Well-Meaning, and Sometimes Well-Done, But Often Flawed
There is stuff here that is good, and all of it is well-meaning. That said, this book is very much a mixed bag.
She doth protest too much....
...wow, I have to read this book for college, what is higher education coming to?So far I'm a fourth of the way through and have no idea what hir theory is.Ze says one thing and then completely contradicts hirself.Hir Gender Identity/Power Pyramid is so biased.Ze spells pyramid wrong, unless "pryamid" is some play on hir words. One of hir points is that to be at the top of the Gender/Power pryamid you must possess a well-formed, above-average-legnth penis.According to studies on Penis legnth world wide, the Irish are the most well endowed, followed by african americans. So according to Kate's pryamid the Irish should be the #1 super power in the world, followed by Africa at #2. Therefore any high ranking man in the USA must be of Irish descent.
Good book but could be better
The layout of this book -- as a workbook with exercises you can do as you move through it -- makes this a very interesting way to examine gender issues in your own life.However I found two problems with the book.First, not all of the sections flow smoothly and the stream of consciousness moments can be distracting and patronizing on a few occassions.Secondly, I think the definition used of "gender" is far to broad to really give the book a solid foundation to build on.You'll find yourself agreeing or disagreeing with much of the book -- isn't that the appropriate thing for a book of self-growth? ... A Missing Component of Sexuality Studies
Marnia's book offers a unique and engaging discussion of orgasm addiction and the destructive patterns that develop from greedy sexual behevior in relationships, as well as a curriculum for partners seeking to break this cycle. This book is an excellent starting place for people seeking to develop a practice involving sexual qi gong, sexual tantra, or sexual magick. Keep in mind, however, that while Robinson's take on orgasm addiction and the damage to relationships is spot-on, her solution is markedly missing vital componants of energy cultivation and circulation that are the cornerstone of the sexual-spiritual practices mentioned above!

Sexy Title for Conventional Sexual Advice
I did not see the kind of detail I would expect from an escort with 18 years experience.You would expect that she could fill the book with remarkable anecdotes.Instead she will give examples of her husband's behavior!She talks about men who are ignorant and need advice about how to please a woman in bed.Her clients are all in love with their wives!It is quite a dull book of very banal sexual advice from a conventional woman's perspective.I am concerned if women should try to understand men using the author's "experience".Men will simply be bored.

I loved this book.I thought some of my turn-ons and bedroom behaviors were strange....maybe even abnormal, but Dr. Morin opens new ways of approaching your own thoughts.
