5-0 out of 5 stars A very good book
This a a very good book on sex and relationships. There are probably not more than a dozen pages that apply only to 50+ people.Almost any age group could profit from the advice. It is of necessity a bit general, but it is well written, comprehensive, and useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Contentious
'Sex over 50' is a controversial book. While the authors might think it's safe, most responsible people believe that doing it while driving at that sort of speed is both irresponsible and dangerous. To quote Mario Andretti's review of the book in 'Wheels' Magazine (September 1999), 'Show consideration for other motorists. Either turn the air-conditioning to high or pull into a Motel 8.' ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Just Do It
This is a book about sexual morality as seen through the eyes of a left wing ideologue. Her main fears are the power of the religious right in sexual matters involving kids especially. Joycelyn Elders, everyone's favorite surgeon general, writes the introduction to the book. --Is this a fair enough warning?
1-0 out of 5 stars Sick Trash
This is disgusting trash. You people have really lost all moral decency. The person you wrote this should be locked up - forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally The Truth, But We Do Have A Choice
An excellent book that tells the truth, but we do have a choice. Our animal part of our brain is not very monagamous. However, the cerebral part of our brain can make a choice to build a partnership. That partnership is not based on the fear of being caught, but is based on the joy and delight of building a wonderful team effort in life. LIfe is quite difficult and having this team partnership of two greatly improves the joys that can be achieved in life. It is a case where one plus one doesn't equal two but equals three or more.

5-0 out of 5 stars "We are biological creatures . . . "
Keep that notion in mind as you follow the authors on their marvelous tour of sexual behaviour in all nature. Most of us were raised with the notion that humans "must" be monogamous.Often, animals such as swans or foxes were held up as examples to emulate.Barash and Lipton expose the hollow basis of these examples. The notion of human monogamy becomes a fragile ideal - nature, and we are part of nature, is anything but monogamous. In a book combining solid science and entertaining prose, this pair have produced an informal, but information-packed review of new finds in the sexual behaviour of a wealth of species. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Truth Is Revealed, But Choice Is Always Ours
What I mean by "Truth is revealed, the choice is ours", is the theme of this review. It is also the message in the book, although many readers have misinterpreted the entire theme, believing the co-authors, David P. Barash and Judith E. Lipton, are simply feeding us hard reality and crushing dreams of blissful and faithful marriage. David and Judith are experienced, older scientists, specializing in the observation of birds and apes, with a profound understanding of logic, human emotions, sociobiology and biology in general. They both hold high degrees- Judith has an M.D. and David holds a Ph.D. It is noteworthy, also, that they are a happily married couple and have been so for many years. Their real message and theme from this outstanding book is that although by nature, humans are generally not faithful to their long-term mate (spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend), we have evolved so much that we can chose to be faithful and monogamous to our partner and truly be satisfied, fulfilled and completely happy. Monogamy is not extinct, it is rare. Half of all marriages end in divorce. When a couple has been together for many years, it's world news. It is the greatest partnership, relationship, union, and the most peaceful, happiest and fullest feeling. But it is always the individual's choice. If a partner cannot remain faithful, we now have a reason and explanation for it.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
I love all Robert Johnson's work. I find him easy to read and understand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Healing the wounded feeling function
"This book is about our wounded feeling function, probably the most common and painful wound which occurs in our Western world. It is very dangerous when a wound is so common in culture that hardly anyone knows there is a problem."Johnson opens his book with these provocative sentences. The first thing he does is convince the reader that the problem exists, and is of considerable scope. For example, our modern English language is not really adequate for a full description of the problem, having the vague and much abused word "feeling" and only one word, equally vague, for "love".Johnson, a Jungian analyst, explores the problem using myths -- the Fisher King and the Handless Maiden, to demonstrate the wounded feeling function in, respectively, masculinity and femininity.Through the myths, Johnson not only diagnoses the problem, but makes practical suggestions for healing. This wonderful little book, scarcely 100 pages long, can be read in an afternoon, although its insights could change the directions of a life. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Author, Betty Dodson knows what she is talking about
I have read all of Betty Dodson's books and have alwasys learned something.
1-0 out of 5 stars Memoirs of a Bitter Sexologist
I don't think there's much of anything positive to say about this book except the author seems to soften a bit temporarily for chapter 14, that she's good at drawing and she's quite nice looking for her type (not that's about the book, but that explains why maybe this book was even published).
2-0 out of 5 stars Author continues the myths of the female orgasm
As the author states right at the beginning, she thinks that a woman requires clitoral stimulation to have an orgasm.Later on she states that sex, for women, should mimic masturbation and not the other way around.

If you are looking for accurate, creative and mature information about the sex this is the book to buy.It is great on its own.My boyfriend and I like to try new things they describe that we are both interested in.There is something for everyone in the book.It is written so that you can take take what interests you and leave the rest.Written in a concise manner and extremely accurate information. It is a great complanion also to more visual books like position manuals or erotica.Definitely recommeded.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's in the name COMPLETE!!
This book is honestly the most thorough guide I have come across for sex.Far beyond just typical, and not so typical, intercourse facts!I loved the chapters that dealt with fantasies and S&M.I knew the book was special when I checked the index before purchasing it to see that it actually acknowledges female ejaculation!!This is an elusive topic and an even more elusive event in most women's sex lives and I was so pleased to see a book that will educate partners to help achieve this mind blowing effect!A fantastic book that all of my girlfriends have now read after my recommendation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes,the most complete sex manual.Thats accurate.
Love this book! Its a big book with so much in it.A great book for reading together or just a quiet read on your own. This book covers so many topics in great detail in an easy to read and understand format and sensibly illustrated makes this book worthwhile.Couples will love this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Eros transforms us
I read this book in graduate school in 1973 and then again 30 years later. When I was a young man I had not had enough experience with Eros to understand the book. I knew I wished to do great deeds but I did not know the source from which these thoughts emerged. Now, in the second reading, I recognize the forces of Eros in my past and present and recognize the need to integrate the daemonic or shadow to fully harness these forces.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Different Line of Tack
I first read Rollo May's _Love and Will_ about 30 years ago and the wisdom of his writing has stayed with me since. May wrote before the time that "self help" became a heading on the shelves of a bookstore, in a time when analytical psychotherapy was still popular. Bearing that in mind, the reader will find that what May had to say then is all too true today. Whereas in the past love and will solved the problems of relationship to others, they have now become the problem. In our schizoid world real communication is rare. (The reader might think that May wrote after the advent of the personal computer.)5-0 out of 5 stars a psychological must-read
Find out here why love and will are so psychologically intertwined....and why a dearth in one means a dearth of the other. In a culture in which deterministic explanations and excuse-making have largely replaced arecognition of personal responsibility and the power of the will, it's nowonder love itself is impoverished.May also offers alternatives to thisstate of affairs. An excellent book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Magnus Opus
Schnarch has completed a Herculean task of exploring in depth the role of intimacy and sexuality (and spirituality). The sexual crucible model clearly is the most sophisticated model available today for marriage andsex therapists. His novel approach propells the field beyond thebehavioral and technique focus that most therapist wouldn't even do if theyhad too. I was impressed that he attempted to address spirituality and someof his concepts in the final chapter are interesting. However, he fallsinto a simple dichotomy in analyzing religion which basically is a good/badsplit.He really doesn't understand the depth of thought behind some ofthe previous great thinkers and sees them only through 20th centuryglasses, where they are easy targets.Overall, I strongly recommend thisbook to therapists. It is truly groundbreaking.

5-0 out of 5 stars A WORK OF ART
This is, with no dout, one of the best books in the genre. It is decadentjet avant grade. If you like erotic literature and taboo this book is amust.

5-0 out of 5 stars A compelling addition to the discourse of sex and religion.
Before Foucault ruined the game, this was the cutting edge of theoretical musings on sex.Bataille's "continuity" concept of the erotic still seems fascinating (if not slightly intuitive), especially in thechapters on war and mysticism.Beware of the difficult language, but oncethis hurdle is cleared you're in for a delightful read.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book made me feel dizzy
This is one of the most amazing books I've ever read. Bataille contemplates humanity by means of erotism. He deals with love, sex, death and spirituality. He quests what makes human distinguished from otheranimals. He is vague sometimes, and leaps amazingly. Actually, I read thebook in Korean, but I'd like to share the feeling with anyone who'd loveto. 5-0 out of 5 stars Ground Breaking for the Era
Leopold von Sacher-Masoch manages to illustrate a deep sexual fantasy and moralize at the same time. The author artfully shows the reader the pain endured by Severin, the main character, and the twisted pleasure obtained from it.The obsession over furs is just one aspect of his pain-pleasure complex. It seems that von Sacher-Masoch, like Sade, oversimplifies complex feelings through autobiographical characters. However, unlike Sade's de Franval, the main character seems open to the possibility that this "deviant behavior" isn't perfection, but the manifestation of a personal problem dealt with in an unhealthy way. He seems to have enough of an open mind to "learn."
3-0 out of 5 stars Less interesting than the older translations
The Penguin Classics version of "Venus in Furs" is elegant, but doesn't engage the reader in the 19th century weirdeness of the book in the same way its contemporary translators managed to do. My old copy came (originally) from a book club that clearly catered to the tastes of fin du ciecle pornography fans, with end-papers containing ads that (essentially) said "If you liked this, you'll love..." books that, 20 years ago were considered genuine classics - Sade, Diderot, et al. Then, as now, Sacher-Masoch's writing did not belong in such company as literature, but merely as an exploration of sexuality (in the way that Sade's "Justine" may reasonably regarded as literature, whle the "120 Days" is not).
5-0 out of 5 stars "You've aroused dangerous forces in my character."
Severin von Kusiemski, a nineteenth century European nobleman, narrates "Venus in Furs." Believing there is "no equality in love" Severin has nourished fantasies stemming from his childhood that involve a beautiful, cold, cruel mistress. He longs to be at the mercy of such a mistress, treated harshly, castigated, whipped, and beaten. He particularly yearns to receive harsh punishment from his mistress while she is dressed only in fur. Then Severin meets Wanda von Dunajew ....

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm super into fisting
I love fisting, so this book is right on for me.I also like fisting videos.I would say this is a great book for details regarding how to put one's whole hand into a vagina.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great look inside
Excellent book. It really probes the issues and gets deep inside the subject. I'm sure it has come in handy for most readers and I give it a huge thumbs up.

3-0 out of 5 stars If only the book was as funny as its title...
The best thing with A Hand in the Bush it the title; which is both clever, funny, and actually quite fitting, since the book is, after all, a manual in how to insert "a hand" into a woman's "bush", so to speak. Now fisting is a quite extreme thing to do, nothing that you should attempt with a drunken one-nightstand or something, and therefore it's good that there's a manual available for anyone who wants to try this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Valley orgasm - YES!
Excellent presentation of information about the polarity of the different chakras and the role of breasts in the female orgasmic response. The best discussion we have seen of the experience of a valley orgasm. She explains how to relax into a whole-body orgasm rather than achieving it as a goal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very insightful, both from Male & Female prespective
We've just started our quest on this path, and found the insights given in this book to be helpful. There are some books out there focused on the Hindu foundation, and others on titilation, but this seems to connect in a practical western manner. Tantra is a process for sharing a deeper connection, and this book gives the proper context for that. This is not a primer on how to try "new" positions, etc. ... Read more
