Very helpful with easy to follow instructions!
I had used another book by these authors, Effective Self Hypnosis with Audio CD and found it to be very readable and useable. So I decided to try this book and CD combination and was not disappointed! This book has a very encouraging approach that helped me to deepen my self-hypnosis experiences and learn how to make positive changes in my life. The applications were very helpful, especially the weight loss chapter (From Image to Beauty) and the chapter, Attuning to Your Body, to improve the quality of my life every month!! The CD is very relaxing and effective. It guides you deeply into trance and has applications that you can personalize for whatever you are working on.These authors have an excellent manner and a powerful method that teaches you how to use self hypnosis and adapt it for your needs. I highly recommend this book and CD and also encourage you to try Effective Self Hypnosis with CD.

As the authors say, hypnosis is a time-honored, well-researched tradition - and they are deeply knowledgeable of its history and its many applications. A helpful clinical guide
This is a readable book on using hypnosis as an adjunct to cognitive, behavioral, or interpersonal therapy of depression.The author's views are sensible, balanced, and clinically relevant.He references the clinical and research literature to butress his arguments.The book is a bit skimpy for the price.The author refers the reader to his other books, CDs, and tapes for futher information, making this a bit like an infomercial.In addition, the author sometimes sets up a straw man to make his points.For example, he writes about therapists who tell their clients to "get their anger out" by pounding a chair with a bat.This example sounds like a caricature of therapy and I can't believe anyone but the most incompetent novice therapist would take such a stance -- but living on the East Coast, I may be ignorant of how therapy is practiced in California where the author resides.Nonetheless, the book contains valuable insights for clinicians who treat depression.It is also one of the few books that deals with the use of hypnosis in depression, which used to be a strict "no-no" according to traditional schools of hypnosis.In that sense this book is a breath of fresh air in the often dogmatic and opinionated world of hypnosis. ... A Must Have Tool for Hypnotists
I recommended this book for a new hypnotist who recently joined my staff. She expressed feeling overwhelmed with all her new found knowledge and unsure of the theory behind some techniques.

Best Self-Hypnosis book I've read
I have read numerous self-hypnosis books. This book was, and remains my favorite. It has great outlines, and suggested scripts for you to use as is, or alter for your own purposes. They also give DETAILED directions as to how to effectively change the scripts for your own use to get great results. It can be used for insomnia, weight control, pain management, or just general behavior modification. Many books enclose a tape of generic inductions. This book offers more, by offering less. They offer the knowledge to create your own self hypnosis tapes that will be more effective than a general purpose tape intended for everyone. Hypnosis is not one size fits all. Succinct and Practical Manual
I should first point that that if you are familiar with NLP, Ericksonian Hypnosis and with techniques from Ormond McGill - you will not find anything new in this book.
NO MORE SCRIPTS TO REMEMBER!!
This book gives you many great exercises to help you learn to master hypnosis without patter scripts that many schools teach. These traditional hypnosis schools do the patter script so that you rely on them functioning like a robot. This outdated technique of scripts limits one's creativity and causes the lack of great hypnotist in the world. There is no scripts in this book and it's one of the few books that is worth having. Gone are the days of people becoming a robot. Igor have put the learning process of hypnosis to the next stage the way it was meant to be learned. And that is to understand the process so that you can be like a jedi knight. There are really no theories in this book. It focuses on principles and lots of practice exercises. This book is especially great for those who are just starting the journey into understanding hypnosis. It is also great for those with exprience too if they haven't understood the process of trance yet. Knowing the process will help you be flexible to different clients and personalize you sessions.
