4-0 out of 5 stars Grows on you
At first, this book seemed to me to be trite, full of little aphorisms and such. By the time I reached the end, I finally understood the underlying message. As with our personal relationships, what counts in our daily living ARE the little things. The author presents this insight with a gentle hand that matches the mood of the message. Thank you, John Izzo, wherever you are.

4-0 out of 5 stars Co-author of Trash Talk reviews 2nd Innocence
"John Izzo has written yet another fantastic book that has profound impact on the reader's daily life. Upon finishing the first reading, I turned the book over and began reading it all over again. A few weeks later, I picked it up and read it a third time and I just could not stop talking about it! This truly is a book that will not stay on a bookshelf for long.
5-0 out of 5 stars If we all just thought and acted this way...
Just wanted to thank John for writing inspiring words that convey wonderful foundational thoughts and feelings.I too am a great believer in an abundance mentality and try to live and act in the "now" every day. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this
My background in statistics was not very helpful to understand this awfully soporific, pedantic book : it inflicts on you hundreds of references pages after pages. Not a single chapter is ended with exercises. To my misfortune I had it as a mandatory textbook in an Information System course at NJIT -- imposed by an unscrupulous "distinguished professor", whose background is sociology, as a favor to the authors, apparently.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and comprehensive text
This is one of the most comprehensive and clearly written textbooks for graduate level behavior science methods I have come across. I learned from this book myself and, now as a professor, I will be using it in my graduate class.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Grand Daddy of Methods Books
This is the one that you'll keep after the class is over. You'll come across some odd methodological issue 5 years after you buy the book and it'll be in there, explained perfectly. The section on interpretation ofinteractions is particularly great. You can't learn more about power andmeta-analysis more efficiently than by reading the relevant chapters inhere. The ethics chapter is more entertaining than anything like it inany other text.I've been teaching from this book for 9 years and stillget students calling saying thanks for making them buy it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book, potential A?
I sure hope so, this book was great and helpful. As a third year law student writing a paper examining road rage this was a great first step towards understanding road rage...this book led to other sources as well, but all in all a great starting place to create a good foundation for a paper.3-0 out of 5 stars I'm OK, It's OK
If you like self-help books, this one will appeal to you. It has all the usual checklists, self-assessments, and affirmations. The book is useful in picking apart what's at work in a one-on-one situation of "road rage." However, I disagree with Larsen's notion that otherwise well-adjusted people just turn into monsters when they are behind the wheel. The author needs to write another book in which he probes more deeply into the life situations of road-ragers. He has also proposed, in this book, a "report card" system for drivers, that has postively Orwellian overtones. On balance, the book is well written, with lots of real life examples to keep it readable. One of these examples contains a glaring omission on the author's part; see if you can find it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for those with and without road rage.
An easy read. The book contains insight for those of you who are not prone to rage, helping you to understand those who are, and aids in avoiding those who are.The high-blood pressure types who act out on theroad can get some tips on correcting their poor habits, perhaps savingtheir own lives, and at least preventing a heart attack! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book!
this book is the most boring text i've ever seen. readers would be discouraged by the ways these authors organize the subjects.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals of Cognitive Psychology
This book was helpful when I was completing my research paper on cognitive psychology. My class has not started, however, the book was very informative. The book is not easy to read however, it a text book for psychology majors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and helpful
As an undergraduate TA, I became familiar with this book when my supervising professor chose it for her undergraduate learning and cognition course. The text presents detailed coverage of the topics in an accessiblestyle. I disagree with the previous reviewer about the value of thediscussion of previous experiments. By providing a discussion of selectedexperiments rather than an exhaustive survey of the empirical literature, the intricacies of problem solving activity in cognitive psychology arehighlighted. The text uses a thematic approach throughout, and incorporatesreal world examples, case studies, and useful examples of experiments onspecific topics. I found myself wishing that this text had been used in thecognition course that I had previously taken. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very freeing
When a counselor at my church recommended I read this book, I wasn't sure why because I didn't think I had any "shame" issues.I was amazed after the author explains what shame really is, and how we all have some level of shame in our lives. For me, this book has given me a new found freedom in life and in my walk with God.Filled with sound Christian doctrine and uplifting scripture. His insights are deep and well-researched, and he covers a wide spectrum of the causes of our shame. He leaves the reader feeling very educated on shame, but also very encouraged and equipped on how to proceed in throwing OFF our shame. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Why did I buy this book?
Why did I buy this book?It was one of those darn impulse purchases.I mean it's not terrible or anythingIn some ways it explains the well-known phenomena of creativity after intellectual struggle and more interestingly it provides an explanation of why meditation etc. may work. But there's not much substance and it is certainly not worth full price. Also towards the end it pushes religion on the reader. If this type of thing bugs you, be forewarned.

Pretty much anything you enjoy doing can be a source of "The Breakout Principle." There. I've read the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Educators!
Dr. Benson's Breakout techniques have had a significant impact on my life, both in reducing stress and in advising elementary school teachers, whom I supervise. People who are interested in extending their knowledge of brain based learning and reducing stress that is causing chaos in our classrooms need to read this book! I recommend this program to anyone in the field of education. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cozby Brings Simplicity to Complex Research Methods
The author did a commendable job of keeping the reading at a level that was clear, concise, and simple. I had to have this book for a Research Methods course at Nova Southeastern University during the Summer I session (2003), and despite the difficulty of the course (e.g., the terminology, the somewhat dry concepts, and the statistics), Cozby "pounded" the concepts into my head by providing clear outlines of understanding. The text was very easy to read and a true psychologist chose to incorporate a reader-friendly font (10.5/12 Legacy Serif Book). The chapters are very short, too, and abstract concepts are minimal; Cozby ensured that the main points are kept as the focus of each chapter. Please enjoy this treasure! R. Beaux Ugarte, NSU

5-0 out of 5 stars Allows complete understanding of a difficult subject.
Everyone should know how to analyze events in the real world so they can understand what is really going on. This book is clear complete and easy to understand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Craftsmanship
As stated by others here this book is an easy read, done in one or two sittings (if your interested in the topic you'll consume it quickly)... That is perhaps the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars: I would have enjoyed another 100 pages that could have expanded some of his explanations and illustrations... That, however, is the only flaw...
5-0 out of 5 stars Clarity, so rare, so prized ...
Humphreys is the only person I know of who can work on nonhuman primates, write philosophy, andedit a literary magazine. 3-0 out of 5 stars "Medieval"treatment of consciousness.
What a difference to investigate the universe out there by direct observation - as astrophysicists do - than to try to figure out how it is by logical speculation! One is reminded of Galileo inviting the medieval thinkers of his time to look at Jupiter satellites through the telescope, an experience that would shatter their now obsolete aristotelian cosmos.Read more
