the book is not worth much for me;I ordered it only because it was a required text by school I attend.Even the teacher did not want to use it.Not a good information source (searching google proves to much better!).You ended up making money, and that's the rest of the story!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gets better with each new edition
Fischer and Corcoran complete another Herculean task with their 3rd edition of MEASURES FOR CLINICAL PRACTICE Volumes I and II. For each edition, the editors search the literature for instruments that demonstrate practical and research applications. They study and report on the calibration issues for each instrument. These issues include scoring, sampling, reliability and validity. Of course, they include the citations of their sources. 4-0 out of 5 stars The bureaucratic corporate machine called "help"
A clear and succinct account of one of the true evils of our time! Status quo apologists and meritocracy fanatics, sadly, won't get the point, but, for the rest of us who strive to offer what we can to those in need and fight for a more equitable and just society, the book is a clear outline of just what needs to be eliminated for the betterment of all. ... Over the years.....for as long as I can remember - I sit alone and let my mind soar to the most incredible heights. My mind hears, sees and feels ....original music that tragically will never be heard. Motion Pictures that will never be seen. Eroticism that would make even the most sexually creative blush - never be felt.

While Prof. Jamison's previous writing has inspired me and also given me insight to the potential pitfalls that face someone with bipolar disorder, I found this book to be a bit more technical. Perhaps a little too technical.

It is a very beotifull book, with an almost poetical writing abaut the relation between the manic-Depressive illness and art creativity. 5-0 out of 5 stars THE supervision text
It is easy to see why Fundamentals of Clinical Supervision is so frequently referred to as THE supervision text. Bernard and Goodyear successfully synthesize a vast (and growing) amount of multidisciplinary supervision literature into a single comprehensive source. The book is well written, and organized such that it makes for easy referencing. Each of the 12 chapters presents an in-depth examination of both seminal and contemporary writing related to clinical supervision. While the `Supervisor's toolbox' serves as a welcome resource for graduate students and new supervisors, the thorough presentation of the most up-to-date theoretical and empirical work informs seasoned supervisors and educators alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maybe the best
This book is one of my absolute favorites among the hearing research books. It covers all the basic themes and often gives very recent citations. So it is interesting to read that in some tinnitus patients ears the frequency is emitted from the ear! But together with this is the problem of the book associated: it is a little bit short. But all in all it is great to read and a wonderful inspiring book. Highly recommended also for beginners.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clinical Writing At Its Best
For the practicing clinician, "Awakening The Dreamer: Clinical Journeys" is an exciting trip into the shared reality of the interpersonal field in which psychoanalytic treatment takes place, and into the critically important dissociated aspect of that field. The book is a totally engaging read, clinically alive and wonderfully erudite, drawing on the history of psychoanalysis, literature, poetry, and neuroscience. Both clinically and conceptually, it provides an indispensable frame of reference that will deepen even treatments that appear "routine," but Bromberg's perspective is most breathtakingly powerful in helping the analyst reach the many so-called difficult patients currently finding their way into our waiting rooms.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Read
If you want concise and comprehensive information concerning PTSD this is a must read.It is well written, clear, and provides a great review of the current literaure regarding treatments for PTSD.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A humane and rational book for clinicians
This is an excellent review of all the major modalities of treatment for PTSD, including some that have wide use with traditional or anecdotal support but little or no adequate scientific research, such as psychodynamic, hypnosis, and art therapies. New, relatively un-researched approaches such as EMDR are indeed included, as well as the 'gold standards' of CBT and medications.
4-0 out of 5 stars A good introduction
As the field of psychological trauma treatment matures, this book fills a need to provide a broad overview of where it is. It might be argued that the editors' investment in one of the therapies discussed in the book (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) colors their presentation and leads to the neglect of other therapies, both established (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and promising (Cognitive Therapy), this is not a major flaw as the individual chapters are written by individuals with some knowledge of their subject areas. Nonetheless, given the ongoing research being conducted on treating PTSD, researchers should bear in mind that this book will likely need revisions within the next year or two to be truly accurate. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Paint by numbers?
This book seems an afterthought to the self-help book, and a very poorly written and edited one at that.5-0 out of 5 stars Essential companion to workbook
What makes this book so useful is that it assists the therapist in effectively guiding the client as s/he follows the workbook in dealing with his/her mood disorder. It shows how best to employ the workbook in therapy, help the client set goals, and individualize the exercises. It demonstrates its application not only to individuals but also to groups, brief therapy, and inpatient settings. Under each situational category, it provides a session by session description of the book's integration with therapy. What many therapists may find a boon are sample client-therapist dialogues, tips on engaging clients and maintaining collaboration, troubleshooting guides, and assignment reminders. Because of its flexibility, this cognitive program can be tailored to a range of diagnoses. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If I could own only one book on Asperger Syndrome...
Honestly, this is a must have as far as I am concerned. It is a small book, but it is full of essential information that can help parents and professionals understand how to help individuals with Asperger Syndrome reach their potential. I have recommended this book to many parents and professionals in my work as an educational specialist and find it helpful when working as a member of an IEP team. Busy professionals and parents who advocate for children with Asperger Syndrome will find themselves referring to this book again and again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Helpful for a certain type of Child with Aspergers
Aspergers Syndrome is becoming much more commonly diagnosed in children. As an employee of the school system, I have worked with many children with this diagnosis in recent years. While children who are given this diagnosis have certain characteristics in common, there are certainly many differences between such children. The book is particularly helpful if you are a parent or educator involved with a child who has temper tantrums or meltdowns.Certainly many children with the diagnosis have this problem, but just as many others do not.The information presented in the book on strategies to deal with a child with Aspergers who has temper tantrums is excellent. If the strategies are applied consistently, they may help many children from repeating the temper tantrums or meltdowns as often in the future. If you are working with a child who does not have this pattern of behavior, I would recommend finding a different resource to help that person learn social skills, etc...

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed
This book wasn't at all what I expected, although it did have some good information.I found it to be geared towards AS students who are having a hard time in the public school system. It would be an excellent book if this is your current situation. However, for homeschooling a kindergartener the information was not all that valuable and I would suggest that you look at other books first. ... This book is _the_ reference on the topic of the psychology of religion. The reference section itself is worth the price of the book!As a text, it would be more appropriate to a graduate level than an undergraduate level class, but then few schools offer a class on the subject at all. However, anyone interested in pursuing this topic would do well to have a copy of this book on their shelf, preferably within reach at all times. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Book on Multicultural Psychology
I bought this book years ago when it first came out.It remains my favorite text on multicultural psychology, and it has plenty of clinical insights that I've never found elsewhere.Apparently, it didn't become a classic, but it SHOULD have, along with it's companion, "Meanings of Madness."I think it is just a little too brilliant and insightful to fit easily into the standard, stale multicultural zeitgeist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I have applied the principles of "A.B.A." for approximately 10 years. I have worked with numerous families and children who have been afflicted with Autism. I also try to stay up to date on the newest techniques and reading materials. I found this book facsinating and have begun to apply many of these techniques with the children I am currently working with. I work with preschool and school aged children. When these principles are applied correctly I have seen amazing results. I have found this book extremely helpful and only wish I could have found it sooner.
