Useful and well written
It's a straight foward and well written book.The information you want to know is easy to find and to understand.There are a lot of interesting little bits of information everywhere and it was a pretty good read.

good material - too bible thumping though.. love your wife
The book follows on the vein of 'men are from mars, women venus', both excellent for men and relationships (not for dating). To be honest the authors admit the survey of womens results will be slanted to reflect their christian background. The points made are 'Excellent'... no really they are..... but his wife is a woman columnist writer(read feminist) and he goes on to bash 'porn' (he neglects that 51% of all books sold are romance novels...... the same as porn for males, how many women go to movies and drool over brad pitt etc?). If you're going to do a survey then give us the results of how women think without the christian lecturing.... isn't it about time men can honestly admit to women, that yes we enjoy looking at women, even naked women.... without having to be lectured we're bad...... author needs to explain and accept male behaviour as it is, not as how he wants it to be..... warts and all. Feminists had to do this for women!

Good read
This is one of the better textbooks that I have been assigned to read. Throughout my introductory 101 Social Psychology class I've read pretty much the whole book. The examples were interesting, and I enjoyed how many of the concepts introduced at the beginning of each chapter correlated with something that had happened not too long ago in the real world. The illustrations facilate a better understanding of the theory or subject matter. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to gain a better understanding of social psychology.

Social Psychology 5th ed
This book is very easy to understand, and the real-world examples/analogies are helpful (even if they are a little in excess). It's one of the few textbooks I've bought that I don't consider a (total) waste of money.

Fuzzy, unstructured and too politically correct book
This is 5th edition of the book written in early 90th (first edition was in 1994). The book did not change much since. This is fuzzy, politically correct and watered down presentation of the subject. For example when you learn about cognitive dissonance you are not told that the original Festinger experiment was connected with the behavior of a flood doomsday cult after the target date of the flood passed.

Life-Span Human Development
I found the layout of this book very interesting in that it took a portion of the life-span and brought you from infancy to old age. In this way, the natural progression of life could be viewed for each topic. The alternative would be to start with infancy, then go to childhood, adolescence, etc. With the approach of this book, I found tracking each topie, e.g., "Perception," more interesting.

Tired Read
Very dry read. Complicated and confusing order of addressing topics. Reading for my developmental psych class felt like a chore with this book.

Choppy, and incredibly dry
I used this book with a human development course at my university, and it was less than adequate for the job.The book is incredibly bland, and while it goes through the life span in order, it seems to jump around from different people's theories too much.Better if all of Piaget's ideas were presented together for a certain topic, etc..On top of that, I believe that the method of citing the sources, while it works for research papers, seemed out of place in this setting.Numbered footnotes would have worked better.The method of citation used made it seem choppy, as all of a sudden you'd see a last name and a year in the middle of the text.This could be done more effectively, because the current method definitely broke up the text significantly.Hopefully, some of these changes will be implemented in a future edition. ... Informative, Logically sequenced book. I loved it. I wished if it has more illustrations, styling design, and format. It would have made it even more appealling.

Outstanding
I very much wanted to get into this little known science of NLP, brainchild of Richard Bandler and John Grinder, for some time. After careful examination of similar books I chose this one after reading some of the page excerpts.

A Masterful Medical Book of Great Importance Written by a Nobel Laureate!
I am a Female Reconstructive Surgeon who while reading a diversified field of topics have fallen very fond of a particular work.This is Principles of Neural Science.having just completed the 2000 edition I can guarrantee that the new edition due June 2006 will be even more captivatiing.If you have the opportunity to see Dr Kandel speak please do he is an academic historian who gives a broad history of each critical piece of medical history to each of his topics.But returning tohis epic, Principles of Neural Science is akin to Newtons Principia in that is a sublime masterpiece.The Kandell prose is colorful, smooth and insightful for medical science.I havefound it easy to read 100-200 pages a day so that the 1400 page book took only a week to discover.The illustrations are the best for any field of Medicine and I have read alll the classics- Harrisions & Cecils Medicine and Schwartz and Sabistons General Surgery neither of these books elucidates the subjugate field with this type of clarity and instructional prose.Do as I have done and preorder the new edition.Those with any interest in the brain will certainly be amazed at the easy depth of information you will achieve.Believe meI am writing a book -Female Reconstructive Surgery and I will be implementing operative 17.2 million pixel photography to achieve the splendid vision the Kandel has produced with his illustrations.I have learned so much on how a book for Surgeons should be written from this Nobel Laureate

Excellent reference, extremely comprehensive!
Don't be deceived by the size of this book--Although it probably weighs more than I do, I have to say that kandel et.al, present the information in a clear, extremely comprehensible manner with a good deal of interesting experiments, clinical studies, and graphs/images to help illustrate the concepts discussed. Although this book is essentially meant for graduate students, it is highly accessible to undergrads and I am tempted to say anyone else, regardless of their science background. The table of contents and the index also principles of neural science a GREAT reference book. This should definately be a companion to any college (or above) level neuroscience course! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

WONDERFUL: Nuts and nolts for learning about yourself
Jon Kabat-Zinn helps even the most distressed of us learn about self-healing and self-nuturing. I am a physician and I recommend this to ALL of my chronic pain/depressed/anxious patients, and it has dramatically changed many of their lives.
Great gift for a friend.
This book is a bitof a paradox.It is dead simple but quite complex all at the same time.I have utiised the program as detailed in the book in its most simple form.Follow the steps and see what happens.It is a great guide and it works and that is why I bought my most recent copy as a gift for a friend.However the basics are just the beginning.In very simple language this book gives you access to a new way of thinking about "you & the world" and a vast array of quality sources and peer reviewed references to support and elaborate on the ideas presented in the book.This book is the antithesis of most of the self help babble in the market place.It's the product of research, clinical experience, time and results.It's a great book that plots a simple path for those who need to find the space and time for centering their lives, once there, it gives them a framework and any number of directions that will enable them to anchor that tranquility in real time.

A study and course in life
This is really a mini course in a book form on how to keep and get you life together. I have practice a lot of various faiths, that have helped my life. So this book has come at a point in life that has fit in quit well. It is a book which you have to take your time and work with. You should follow the exercises and reflecton what is being taught. 12k a year to 450k a year in 1yr!
Awaken the Giant is an amazing book and a great first step. Read it and then take the next step and go to Unleash the Power within Seminar. If it wasnt for Tony's Books and Audio program, I would have either been in jail or be dead! I went from not caring about anyone but me, to wanting to serve everyone and having a beautiful family with 2 little angels. I went from making 1-2k a month to 100k in my first year and then 450k the next 10 months. Read this book, then when you are ready, either but the get the edge cd's or go to his UPW seminar. It will change your life forever!

I really enjoy the people who like to dismiss certain others who have made a life helping other people. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and say, "Oh, yeah, that guy, that guy just wants to make money..." Of course, the guy wants to make money, but I also believe that you can make moneyand do what is yours to do; if that is giving seminars, and making infomercials, or writing books, then so be it!

Classic - Important
This is the fourth edition, so that means there is value in the message.It has proven its value in the market place.
Easy To Read, But Makes You Feel Very Smart!
This is one of those books that is generally as easy to read as a pop-psychology book, but has the flair and style of something much more intellectual. I do agree with one reviewer who says it reflects much of the material in Cialdini's other book on the subject--but it isn't precisely the same.

Why spend the money on an MBA or a business degree, when you can get this book
I got a top tier MBA, spent tens of thousands of dollars and two years, but didn't learn the important stuff.(And I was the valedictorian, and got some really great jobs).I really enjoyed Greene's book 42 laws of power (I can't remember if it's 42 or some other number), but this book is a great reminder and educator of the way things work behind the scenes, in people's minds, and at the macro level of every business and political dealing.I'm convinced that there is either a conspiracy in our educational system to make us dumb workerbees, 99% of our teachers just don't get it, or our measurement system for the quality and effectiveness of our eductional system is severely broken.(Or all the above!)

5 minutes to orgasm
I bought this book hoping to learn more about how to make sure that my wonderful wife will be very satisfied every time. Claire Hutchins definitely has strong and well supported position about women's sexuality and certain associated issues. I agree with her that it is not necessary for men to be fully responsible for the sexual satisfaction of their partners (any more). Intimacy should be fun, pleasant and an opportunity to get rid of stress and tension not the opposite. I am thankful to the author for encouraging and empowering my wife to feel more in charge of her orgasms than she used to. Similar thing happened with me after I easily became multi-orgasmic thanks to scientificlly guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex. You can hardly imagine what burden will fall from your shoulders when you learn from such books how to have orgasms at will and can finally focus on the rest- foreplay, different positions, and truly lovemaking that makes the bond between the partners stronger and deeper. Ms. Hutchins has paid a lot of attention to psychological and mental aspects that may liberate women from stereotypes and brain washing and of course provides her method which may be really something new for less experienced women. Overall, this is a book which has something to offer to both men and women.

Every Woman Can and Should Have Orgasms
This is a very important book for a lot of women, and I seriously believe that any woman who "can't" yet have an orgasm should read it.From my own first-hand research, and thanks to the many many letters I get from clients of the New Sex Institute, I am more convinced than ever that EVERY woman is capable of clitoral AND G-spot or Sacred Spot orgasms and female ejacu.......

a mess
For being the official source on APA this book is appallingly bad. It is extremely hard to use, is incomplete, and seems to have even less information than is freely available on the net. Save yourself some time and skip buying this.

The Plot was pretty slow moving
I don't know... i just think the plotting of this novel was just pretty slow and not really exciting at all.The villains were just cardboard characters, the hero was kinda blah, and it just didn't build to an exciting resolution.So I can only give it two stars for effort...

A first rate book
This is a superb book, and Dr. Bourne shows extreme insight, preception, and understanding in helping the anxious individual in today's stressful world. He seems to know me better than I know myself! I highly recommend it to anyone who has suffered with anxiety, panic, phobias, post-traumatic stress symptoms, and shyness. It will help you to get on with your life! His book will not be surpassed!
Relief from stress and all kinds of anxiety
An excellent handbook, better than therapy because you know the quality of help you're getting, IMHO. You don't have to have full blown phobias to be helped by this, so don't be shy about delving in and relieving yourself from negative self talk, chronic stress, or any kind of avoidance.

Wonderful Help
This book provides comprehensive information and resources for someone suffering from an anxiety disorder or those workling with people who suffer from these horrible condition.I personally found great help in this book for myself and those I worked with. If you cant find apprpriate help in this book you havent looked hard enough.One thing to remember if you are suffering from any anxiety disorder, there is help and you dont have to continue to suffer for the rest of your life.I suffered from PTSD, generalized anxiety, extreme worry, panic attacks , among many other things.With the proper help Im able to live a peaceful life with little anxiety and worry.Also, recommned Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. better outcomes...less burnout!
As a relatively new therapist in a community mental health setting I noticed I kept getting clients that were diagnosed with BPD.No one else seemed to want them and as the new therapist I got "stuck" with them.After many months of frustration and questioning whether or not I made the right career choice, I stumbled across DBT.
Innovative protocol
Marsha Linehan's treatment approach to Borderline Personality Disorder is innovative and refreshing.DBT does work!This book explains BPD, it's history, and the development and theory behind several practices and how Linehan, through her own practical experience, came to treat BPD with her effective approach.The text is very clinical, but readable.It is a great, in-depth compliment to the skills manual by Linehan.A must for any clinician who has thrown up his/her arms in frustration while working with a Borderline client!

"The" book on DBT therapy, dense but well written...
CBT of Borderline Personality Disorder is a must have clinical book. Dense and chock full of therapeutic interventions, this book is pivotal for anyone working extensively with persons with BPD or anyone who has chronic suicidal thoughts, or other maladaptive and destructive coping skills. It's so dense however, take your time with it. Not an over night read unless your really good at absorbing a lot of information all at once. ... Read more

Not What I Expected as Advertised
I ordered this book after reading the rave reviews and the who's who of public school using this format.Nowhere is it advertised or even mentioned that this is a Christian book, espousing Christian dogma and assumptions.I'm surprised this is acceptable for use by Government funded public schools.Furthermore, there is a lot of non-scientific rhetoric in the book that eschews logical debate and exposition.I'm very disappointed and consider this to be false advertising.
Works For A Mom Of 8
I have 8 kids, ages 1 though 18.I read this book 6 years ago when I was dealing with 2 year old twins and found it to be very helpful. Since then I have recommended it to many people.Anything that can help mom stay calm and sane when dealing with challenging behaviors is a real winner in my book!
