This is a fun, bright coffeetable book. For the most part, this edition is a great deal lighter in tone and color than it's sister edition, Batman: Cover to Cover.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book.
Girls in my ninth grade class brought it into school to share with each other because they liked it so much; I was relieved because I do not think they would practice safer sex without learning it from a resource that makes it 'cool'.

1-0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable
I can't believe any responsible parent would buy or allow their daughters to read this.Sexual education about your body should be taught by the parents.CHILDREN should not be having sex or given INSTRUCTIONS and TIPS on how to do it like this book does.
1-0 out of 5 stars Holy Cow - I was floored!
I admit first off that I did not read this entire book - I flipped it open to a page at random in the bookstore today, and the first thing I read was instructions on how a girl could give a boy a B*ow J*b.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was hoping this might integrate Mintz's insight that thinness is about the symbolic control of consumption with the diet industry.Well, it did in a way, but only by going the tired route of muddling up eating disorders and attempts to control weight, while seeing 275lb women who wanted to lose as the victims of an uncaring society, just like the 130 lb college girls who also wanted to lose.I'm starting to wonder where, if anywhere, we might find sense on this topic. Here we sit, surrounded by size 20s on one hand at size 2 models on the other. There is a genuine crisis. But I can't recommend anything I've read hitherto - except Sidney Mintz.Curious.
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible Book!!
This is the worst book I have ever read. The entire book is filled with made up statistics and made up people, giving made up quotes. The author was not subjective at all in her research and is extremely biased towards men!I think that this author had some serious self issues while writing this book!I would never recommend anyone to read this garbage! The author basically spents the entire time, telling how women always forced to starve themselves to get anywhere in this society, which is far from true! And then places the blame on men for the women that do starve themselves, and then insists that men are very subjected to the pressures of society! To prove this point tell me that last time that a male was in the medai, that has body hair on his entire body!!!DON"T READ THIS BOOK!

1-0 out of 5 stars Let's all whine "suppression" of women
Hesser-Biber uses the subject of women and their body image to give her opinion on how "evil" capitalism is. The first four or so chapters are all about how the horrible, terrible, capitalist pigs who just want money are responsible for eating disorders, low self esteem, and everything else. The rest of the book she spent time telling stories, as though we didn't get the point all ready that people are unsatisfied with how they look.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful - My 4 year old loves it!
I saw this book and didn't think anything of it, then I checked it out at the library and discovered that my daughter loved it (4 years old) and it brought up many discussions about herself and others. We love reading ittogether!I had to buy it because she kept wanting to check it out again, and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book, kids and parents will like it!
This is an excellent book, it's not hokey and fake like many "self-esteem" books. The content is right on target, speaking exactly to kids' interests and parents' concerns. My first grader took itto school to read, the teacher loved it--wanted to know where I got it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly remarkable in affirmingchildren's self worth
When I inherited my now nine year old daughter after her mother died, this is a book I wish we had found right away. Before we finished the first page, Kim started saying things like, "This is excellent," and "This is my favorite book ever."All of the concerns of this young lady were addressed and affirmed: appearance, feelings, privacy, changes and more. Just Because I Am truly helped her understand that even with herexperiences, she really is a worthwhile person. Hearing it from the perspective of a stranger(the author)and accompanied by the brightlycolored illustrations of just the right complexity gave this much more weight than all the times I have expressed similar concepts in less lovely prose. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Getting to Know the Real You: 50 Fun Quizzes Just for Girls
Fantastic book for my teenage daughter. She was constantly on-line searching for quizzes and making them up to pass along to friends - so this book was a great hit with her.The quizzes are cool.I wondered if she'd think they were "lame", but she's loves the book. It's always open on the coffee table.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Quiz Book
The day after I bought this book, a bunch of my friends slept over at my house, and we spent the whole night doing the quizzes. We found out so much about ourselves and each other and became even better friends. My mom kept telling us we had to go to sleep, but we couldn't put the book down. Since you can take these quizzes more than once, my friends and I are already planning another sleepover in a few months so we can see how we've changed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars good book for info on growing up
This is a book that is about growing up and what happens to you sexually. It has the name that it does (Created By God) because it gives a Christian view towards sexuality and growing up. Even if you are not Christian youstill could enjoy this book for the information in it. WARNING: this isnot a story book so if you are looking for a story book this is not it. Ithink it is a good book because it gives the information in a very matterof fact way and it has good information that will make growing up easierbecause you know what is to come and know what to do when it does come. Ithas things that you might want to know but are too embarrassed to asksomeone. It is for both girls and boys.Another book like this is ItsPerfectly Normal but that one does not have a Christian viewpoint and isnot as kid friendly as this one is. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Eye opener of a story
I really feel for Phineas Gage after reading his story--and I am completely amazed at how he survived his accident. The book, is geared towards scientificly curious children for the most part, large illustrations and explanations of various things. How medicine has change since Gage's time, etc.The photos are great and the book is very engaging, though I wouldn't reccomend it for the squeamish as it does describe the poor man's accident in detail.I can only wish to myself though that they had done one of those facial reconstructions from the skull and life mask, so we could see what he might have looked like as a person.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!

1-0 out of 5 stars Texas is not the nation.
The conclusions about regret about sex and being abstinent may be shared by some, but certainly not all senior girls. This book concludes abstinence is the way to go, but since 70% of seniors of both sexes have intercourse, this is not likely. Why not recommend other sex acts, and intercourse once out of high school?

5-0 out of 5 stars The Truth about Sex...
I work with teen girls and many women who are in crisis pregnancies.I have long looked for a book, which so very aptly defines the emotional impact of having sex before you are in a committed relationship and the destruction it causes emotionally.I see girls daily who have had sex purely due to peer pressure and regret their decisions.I am so very grateful that Ms. Anderson has taken the time to put into words the feelings I have tried to express to my girls for many years. It isn't always "don't have sex, because... STD's, pregnancy risk, not in God's plan, etc." These teens/women need to know it is ok not to have sex for ALL and ANY of the right reasons.Every parent with teens, who is a mentor to teens, who knows friends with teens and every teen - boys and girls should read this book!

I thought this book was great - it was really colorful. The overall feel reminded me of the book "Now I Know the Ten Commandments". I recommend it to anyone.
5-0 out of 5 stars great book
This book is simple and to the point! My kids loved it, especially my 6 year old son.It was just enough for him to know at this time.
3-0 out of 5 stars NotFor Kids Who Were Adopted
I do not like this book overall. While it does have age appropriate discussion of sex and pregnancy with a Christian focus, the text is too long in my opinion for a child of the target age to sit and listen. My primary objection is that this book is not appropriate at all for adopted children. The stories are told entirely from the point of view of a birth child. The comments and discussions focus on the idea of children being born into the family, nursing to be fed, and so on.There is a very tiny discussion about all families being "different" and a particular child not looking like his birth parents b/c he was adopted; this plus the strong focus of the text on birth families would alienate a child who was adopted rather than inform him/her.If you are looking for a facts of life book and your child was adopted, do not get this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars You Gotta Read This Book!
Matthew Paul Turner presents the facts on sex with his own witty commentary to create one of the best books I have ever read on Sex. You may be thinking this is just like any other Christian book on Sex, but it isn't! Matthew covers the toughies and presents the information in such a way that gives you the freedom to think for yourself on various topics. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fresh look, from a Christian view point.
The newest book from Matthew Paul Turner presents his unique perspective on Christian sexuality. What you didnt learn from your parents about sex: A guide to a touchy subject arms you with biblical sources, contributors options and as always Matthews own unique blend of tongue in cheek brutal honestly. His easy going conversation style lays out various aspects of sexuality from masturbation to premarital sex, and of course tackles the question how far is too far, in a relaxed but direct manner. Jonathan Edwards would be furious. Though most of this book is appropriate for everyone, some of it focuses on married couples, and other parts you feel the overwhelming need to pull your bible out and see if some of his side bar biblical quotes are really in scripture. All in all, I highly recommend reading this book, its about time someone took a fresh approach to sexuality in the Christian community

5-0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS and EXTREMELY HELPFUL!
When I heard that one of my favorite authors Matthew Paul Turner was penning a book about sex, I was skeptical. Really, what can a Christian book say about sex that hasn't already been said before--but I was wrong. Not only is this book hysterical, it's one of the most brave Christian books I have ever read. Turner talks about sex the way REAL twenty and thirty somethings talk about sex; he doesn't set up some crazy standard; he simply looks at our sexual lifestyles froma holy and healthy (and humorous) perspective--Wow... just wait until you read Ferry Jallwell's "guide to teaching your kids about sex"--i about peed my pants... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars She speaks for many, many women
First off the author makes it very clear that her book is part memoir, part expos of sexual issues in the time period she grew up in. Period.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Talk of the Town
It is an excellent conversation piece to share with your husband/boyfriend, friends, daughter and mother. It touches on so many issues that are too "weird" to say outloud. It really makes you think about your sexuality and your desires and your relationships with both women and men in a way that validates them for the first time ever. It is thought- provoking and informative. You will read it, love it, and pass it on.

1-0 out of 5 stars a very slight commentary:
Why do people care so much what other people think about them? This book is more of a whine and a moaning lament on what the author imagines other people think about this and that and so-and-so.I believe a true liberation of spirit would come from simply stating: Who cares what you think? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful and groundbreaking approach to understanding and helping deeply troubled and damaged adolescents
This book is extremely thoughtful and well written and provides an incredibly hopeful and stimulating, if not groundbreaking, view and approach for working with teens in trouble and, perhaps, for giving greater insight and influence to the people who love and/or care for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Resource for Parents!
Whenever the topic of talking about sex and sexuality with our children comes up, I share this title. The book is written for parents (or other adults).Of course it covers sex, but it does also talk about love and relationships and their connection to sex.
5-0 out of 5 stars Highly informative, and definately worth reading!
This book is highly interesting, informative, organized and educational. The title says the book is a guide for parents, however, I found the book to be most rewarding as a Health Education major. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family friends should even get their hands on this book... you never know what questions may pop up about sex and relationships! The book's goal is to break the uneasiness, and sometimes embarassing or awkward moments of educating your children about life's issues. It was extremely easy to understand and very real to life. The authors themselves have their own family so they talk from their hearts as "real" parents. They cover everything from initiating converstion to sexual development and sexual orientation. The Mirons took great concern considering the different lifestyles, beliefs, and morals of each individual circumstance and family. The book has two sections called, "Try This" & "Just the Facts." They provide alternative ideas to aid in the education process and important statistics parents may not know. The book has very few faults and has better prepared me for when I start to teach. It has greatly boosted my confidence level and I am sure to hold onto the book both as a reference and as guidance. Take a look for yourself, I promise you that it will not be a waste of time! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars agree with the 12 years old reviewer.
wauw! nice with a book all about spells and with only a tiny bit about the religion! bah! I have to say, it IS a good book if you're only interested in the spells, cause that part is wrote in an interesting way. But when she tells about the goddess and religion, it is wrote in a boring, superficial way, she doesn't even talk about the sabbaths! she writes like the nature worshipping is a boring part (it really ISN'T!). so, if you're interested in the religion and want some serious stuff, don't buy it. if you just wan't the spells (and that's fine) buy the book and skip the first chapter! I do understand you, coz it's really boring! NOT a book for an experienced wiccan.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good book for beginners
I'm a 12 year old wiccan and just entered the world of wicca a year ago. This book is a perfect book for explaining spells. My only critism is that Rain doesn't explainmuch about wicca in this book. Otherwise, this book is awesome.
4-0 out of 5 stars Gives the young reader an excellent place to start
This book is rather unique in that it is written by a member of the audience it is intended for, Gwinevere Rain is a teen witch herself, she understands the perspective of who she is trying to reach, and so approaches the subject in a different light than an adult may. She was raised by Catholic parents, though the religion was not enforced, her personal exploration of Wicca started with Greek myths as a child, and then carried on learning more from the Internet, where one witch suggested Cunningham's 'A Guide For the Solitary Practitioner', where she realized she had found a path that finally felt right, Wicca. A familiar story for many. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
Even though it wasn't up to what I was expecting it is still a great little book for the beginner. Easy to read and full of information.

5-0 out of 5 stars MUY BUENO!
this is the first book on Wicca i ever bought and it taught me so much. its greta for beginners who arent sure where to start or people who want to understand The Craft a little more. with everything from explanations of what a Book of Shadows is and what kidns of stuff to put in it to what Wiccans believe and tips for talking to your parents about it, this book is awesome.

5-0 out of 5 stars FInally a book that treats teens like real people
not once does this author talk down to Teens (which leads me to believe the last reviewer was just plain lazy - there's nothing here that's difficult to read, that doesn't make sense, or poorly written... unless of course you were looking for Charmed style magick in a book).

5-0 out of 5 stars the teen spellbook
i really love it i probebly did 4 spells already! i already want another one for all my freinds! i think magick is really cool and the book really helps. i hope you have more spell books but even better! i think this book should be 10 stars but i can only rate it 5. thank you for your time and i am very happy happy for getting the book!:)

3-0 out of 5 stars Too complicated spells
This book is good because of the variety and number of the spells. (it doesn't spend half the book reiterating what wicca is) but the spells require many expensive ingredients, teenagers whose parents aren't wiccan won't be able to do these spells because they won't be able to get to a new age store. The spells are good and they do work, but do to the complicated spells i have to give it 3 out of 5 stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ugghh!
This book is a total peice of crap. Authors just write these fake books for publicity and to get their 15 min of fame.it makes us wiccas sick to our stumach ( mabye it dosen't to u but it does to me) *UGGH* i feel like i got to throw up... ... Read more
