4-0 out of 5 stars The original "Simplicity" is a must-read companion
Bill Jensen's ideas and tactics have crystallized my ability to be effective. I read "The Simplicity Survival Handbook" before reading Jensen's original "Simplicity", and for me, "Simplicity" issuperior because (1) it explains the rationale behind Jensen's ideas and (2) offers invaluable guidance on effective presentations. "The Simplicity Survival Handbook" 's examples were not as helpful to me as the initial wisdom and suggestions in "Simplicity". Read them both!

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! Buckle your Seat Belts.
What I like about this biz book:
5-0 out of 5 stars Fix my job......please!
With a title like this, Jensen's book should be flying off the shelf. I know it caught my eye when I first saw it. We all want to "do" less and "accomplish" more and there are some excellent ideas in this book to help you do just that.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for letting it all go at the end of a day
As a single mother and a manager in a Technical Support department, I have quite a bit of stress in my life. I used to take it all with me at the end of the day and often ended up continuing to 'work' all through the night. This has been a tremendous help in guiding me to relax at the end of the day and just let go of all the stress and worries. The more I use it, the easier it is to relax - both at the end of the day and when I find myself in stressful moments during the day. I am now trying the Indigo Dreams children's version with my kids to help them calm down and get ready to sleep. I really like the positive nature this takes in empowering the listener to direct herself.
5-0 out of 5 stars Love it,Love it ! ! !
Love it, love it, love it. My children have been using the Indigo Dreams CDs for years. They have had such a positive impact on my family that I finally decided to try one for myself. The exercises are doing the trick of helping me wind down from my daily stressful routine. I used to be up till 1 am thinking about tomorrow. Now, I look forward to getting in bed knowing the CD will help me stop thinking long enough to fall asleep. I love the visualization that is also designed to boost my immune system. All of the techniques are easy to follow and listen to. Music is also first rate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Itsy Bitsy your the best
I got the book after taking the actual Itsy Bitsy Yoga class with my son the first time.We really enjoy it & it does help with his digestive system.I highly recommend the class & book to anyone who has children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Book to Bond with Baby...
I love yoga and was ecstatic to see such a book.I was even more ecstatic to find that the library in my area had it.The poses are wonderful for kids.Unfortunately, I was unable to try some of the beginning ones because my daughter was already in the middle age group of the book, but I read through the whole book and found it to be very informative. My daughter loves doing active things so this is great for us to do together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I love this book.I started using it when my baby was 4 weeks old. After trying to do "mommy baby" yoga (using Baby Om) I decided it was much easier to do yoga with my baby separately from my own practice, though there is some overlap.Realistically, you have to stop a million times usually to wipe spit up, nurse, burp, etc, and for me it worked better to have all my attention on my baby. This book gives simple exercises, and great tips to make the experience enjoyable for baby. My baby has gotten more and more used to it the more we do it, and she is very calm, relaxed and peaceful when we do it now.I also like this book because it gives new exercises based on lots of developmental steps (head holding, almost sitting, etc) instead of just yoga for a baby - we all know that a 4 week old is much different from a 4 month old!I highly recommend this and plan to use it until my baby is 2! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A small book with big wisdom
I'm admittedly a huge fan of Judith Hanson Lasater's other works, so naturally I was anticipating her latest offering:"A Year Of Living Your Yoga".Borrowing the theme of her other popular publication, "Living Your Yoga", Lasater has created a daily meditation style book that gives bite sized wisdom that you can use daily. Each day, there is a proverb along with a suggestion of how to apply it to your day to day life. For those who want live their yoga and not just "do" yoga, this is a nice little way to do it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great reference book!
I'm a beginner yoga student and I found this book to be a GEM. It details different poses, step-by-step guides and provides poses to use for various ailments. I'm able to talk my fiance through different poses by following the directions provided for each pose. (Amazon has a really good price too- I originally bought it at Barnes and Noble for $20.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Little book, big information, small complaints
This is an good little book. Many poses are featured in full color photographs. One of the nice things about this book is that they show the pose, step by step. This gives you a clear idea of how to 'get into the pose' as well as the full expression.A few unusual poses are featured that I have not seen in standard yoga books.
4-0 out of 5 stars the title of the book covers it
this is a detailed book with plenty of poses with good descriptions of positioning, etc. good reference that i use to try new things and expand my regimen. i recommend it to anyone stuck in the basics and wanting to expand their abilities. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Basic to Advanced Techniques for the Professional
Very, very informative book. Well written and easy to follow. This book contains a step by step map of Cal Banyon's 5 Path hypnotherapy regression techniques. Beginning with the pre-talk, and right through the regression it goes on to work with forgiveness of oneself and others and also reviews parts therapy.I enjoyed it so much that I took the regression workshop with Cal Banyon later.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for the New Therapist

5-0 out of 5 stars Good book - works for me
I'm a golfer that has frequently had some degree of lower back pain.Suffered a severe lower back strain four months ago.Bought the book and started the routine after that.It has made a big difference for me.My back feels better than it has in years.I strongly recommend the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A GOOD WHIPPING
This is an excellent book for dealing with this common problem afflicting so many people but it doesn't explain why Pilate ordered Jesus to be whipped. That is definitely not the way to relieve back pain!

3-0 out of 5 stars Thoughtfulm, safe process, but does it work????
I felt that Dr. Vad's approach was safe and logical. He has you perform easy basic exercises for some time, and then graduate to more strenuous exercises.I must say, though, as someone is in pretty fair physical condition to begin with, I felt the exercises were too basic, and not at all challenging. There didn't seem to be an abundance of info on treatments or back pain causes either.I guess though, the real proof is, "Did it work? Did following the program letter for letter improve my back pain?"And, in my case, which of course is very individual, after following the program to the "T" for 8 weeks, it really did nothing me.Decent book, but I'm still looking for the magic bullet. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT meditation intro!!
This book & CD combo got me started meditating and I believe could be helpful for mediators of all levels. In this book/CD, Jack Kornfield reviews different types of mediation and different areas to focus ones attention.I find it especially useful to read some of the theory behind the mediation and then put the theory into practice with the guided CD. This book and CD had the right amount of information for me to start out, not too much to overwhelm me but enough to give a foundation of understanding. Also, for me, Jack Kornfield, does a wonderful job of integrating eastern wisdom into the (crazy) western lifestyle.
2-0 out of 5 stars could not connect
Sorry, this guy's voice gave me the creeps. He sounds like a preacher. Who can meditate without the ability to respond positively to theleading voice.

4-0 out of 5 stars Non-intimidating introduction for people who never meditated
I like this DVD because it's a good introduction for people who have never meditated and for people who might not be the typical audience for such topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars A guide that nornlizes life for HSP
I am extremely grateful for finding the HSP Survival Guide. The book has given me a fresh prespective on life and clarified my sensitivties and strengths. I now realize that I am a normal person in a highly fast and stimulating world.I am an HSP.Thank you Dr. Ted Zeff.

3-0 out of 5 stars Moderately helpful
Seems to be Zeff's spin on Aron's previous book. He quotes her a lot. In her "foreward" Aron indicated that "Ted and I approach many things differently, but...Ted's perspective is a good one." That pretty much sums it up. He restates much of her info, but with his spin, which you might find helpful. He adds his experiences from teaching stress management classes. He recommends accupuncture, aromatherapy and ayurveda. If that is for you, he's your guy.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Beginner's Guide
As a child, I was sent to my room as punishment for being "too sensitive" within my very stoic family.Looking back, I think I probably relished the time alone although I still remember the conflicting feelings of aloneness in not being understood, wondering why I so easily cried during a sad movie or other empathic inducements while others did not, wondering if there really was something wrong with me, etc.Later, in trying to eliminate all pieces of the sensitivity traits, I remained a bit different, regardless.Later still, I have found a good balance which simply comes from knowing and being true to yourself, knowing your strengths and limitations, saying "yes" to what would be good for you and learning to say "no" when need be.Good sense for anyone - highly sensitive or not.

I enjoy the daily meditations in this book.I have had this book for years and bought this one to give as a gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Journey to the Heart
This is a magical book. I have had a copy since 1996. At first I devoured it, reading many meditations at one sitting. What Melanie Beattie has to say nurtured my Soul and gave me direction. Then one day I started shaking the book and just opening the book to a random page, but it was never random. What I read was usually very relevant to that moment. Her words were just what I needed to cast away self doubt or understand a situation or provide guidance for my life. Melanie Beattie has great wisdom. I hope you find it as useful as I continue to find it- 11 years later. Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Healing
This is my fourth purchase of Weil's CDs in the past 14 months. The first two were for my partner who was anticipating and then recovering from diverticulitis surgery. The second and third pairs were for friends enduring chemo and radiation after cancer surgery. The latest was for my oldest nephew who is dealing with a currently inoperable/untreatable intracranial hemorrage. My nephew, a hard-living Texas oil industry type, was the only one resistant to the concept. After actually trying the process, he's on his way to a 360. My partner and my friends didn't resist at all and put these meditational practices to good use immediately with very positive results. I might add that they, and I, continue to use the CDs for health maintenance.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent First Choice for Learning Breath Yoga
If you have never done breath work before, Dr. Weil's CD: Breathing The Master Key to Self Healing is an excellent first choice that will provide a series of short exercises to improve your breathing technique, quiet your mind, and help you clear your daily tension and anxiety prior to deeper meditation. This initial preparation assumes that you know little about breath discipline (a form of Yoga), and takes you from the very beginning with a kindly voice and beautiful music.Dr. Weil's producer has taken care to provide the best quality sound, the best musicians, and even a high quality CD that will resist wear.(I use my CD every day on my bus commute to town.)

This is an excellent resource for those setting out to study reflexology. The text is easily understood, the pictures self-explanatory and a full size colour reflexology chart is included. It's a book that I will keep and refer to constantly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Health with Reflexology
After reading alot about reflexology and talking to a few reflexologists, I decided that this was something to take quite seriously.....This book is amazing...The way it breaks the different systems of the body down, in a way that is easily understood is absolutely terrific.Step by step techniques are easily adapatable..After practicing reflexology for a short while all the clients that I have seen have been helped and have wonderful things to say about the Ingham method....I DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING REFLEXOLOGY.

5-0 out of 5 stars The one book you need!
This is THE book to buy on reflexology! There are a lot of other books and methods out there but this book is the original.Dwight Byers has perfected the art of reflexology, first developed by his aunt, Eunice Ingham. Not only is the information in the book presented in a clear, concise manner but it is the most accurate information on reflexology available. If you want to do reflexology either professionally or just on family and friends, this book contains what you need to be the best at what you do. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This book helped me tremendously
I realize that this book is simply an abridged compilation of HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE and one of Dale Carnegie's other famous books, the title of which eludes me for the moment. However, HOW TO ENJOY YOUR LIFE AND YOUR JOB is still a very important book on its own simply because it allows the reader the opportunity to learn these valuable lessons while concentrating on one central theme, not to mention a theme which is almost always on everone's mind with waking and sleeping: the workplace.
3-0 out of 5 stars You'd do better to get the 2 books this book was extracted from
"How to Enjoy Your Life and Your Job" was created by taking excerpts from "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" - both excellent books. Buy those books separately or buy "Dale Carnegies Lifetime Plan for Success : The Great Bestselling Works Complete In One Volume" which contains both complete books. This way you get Carnegie's work in its complete form. I consider Carnegie to be one of the best self-help authors of all time, and that is reflected in these writings. Carnegie's work will help you improve your attitude, relationships, choices, and the results you achieve in life if you are willing to put his advice into practice. I only gave this book 3 stars because it is just a rehash of Carnegies other books, with material cut out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Packed with Knowledge!
In this day of self-help mania, it's hard to know where to start. Everywhere you turn there's another book being released by a motivational speaker. It's time to get back to basics, and the best way to do that is to go to the father of self-help himself - Dale Carnegie. This compilation of the best of his classics could be re-titled "Dale Carnegie's Greatest Hits." It is packed with anecdotes of how famous and not-so-famous people through the ages have hit tough situations in life and overcome them. Although some of the language is dated - Carnegie wrote much the material in the 1930's - the situations he portrays are not limited to any era. You will be encouraged to know that you, too, can be happy, popular and organized. We recommend this book to anyone who works with people in any capacity; it could drastically change how you approach your life and the people around you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Anger Workbook
I would definitly recommend the "Anger Workbook for Women," Dr. Laura Petracek was excellent in way in dealing with inward and outward anger. Her recommendations and advice, and workbook style pages is a great ways to address you anger and also keep a journal to see your own improvement. This book is a great resource and a great deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars Women Get Angry, Too
As a mental health practicioner and specialist in the fields of anger management and family violence, I highly recommend Laura Petraceks's new book.To her credit, the author does not minimize or excuse women's anger, and understands that whether directed inwardly or outwardly, aggressive impulses are highly destructive regardless of the individual's gender. But the author also understands that in some ways women experience anger differently than men.Her sections on anger and depression are insightful, and her discussion of PMS is straighforward and refreshingly un-PC.Overall, the information is presented clearly and directly, and the exercises well-thought-out and practical. It should be a wonderful aid to any woman seriously working on anger issues, whether she is doing so in an invidual, couples or group therapy setting. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A variety of different types of exercises
Defining intelligence is far from simple. There are two main schools of thought. The first believes in an inherited, genetically determined intellect that can be measured. The second group of psychologists believe in many intelligences, the development of which may be the result of our social background. They also think that measuring these intelligences is also problematic. The Complete Book of Intelligence Tests offers a variety of different types of exercises such as verbal, mathematical, spatial, memory and reasoning. Whether IQ tests actually test general intelligence is debatable. The Complete Book of Intelligence Tests : 500 Exercises to Improve, Upgrade and Enhance Your Mind Strength is a great assessment of an individual's problem solving ability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Insightful Essays
"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff in Love" is a collection of 100 two- and three-page essays. Each essay is a simple yet effective tip intended to make a relationship stronger or more enjoyable. Many of the ideas are perhaps overly obvious or simplistic, but they are all presented with examples and text that make them appear worthwhile and effective.
5-0 out of 5 stars Keep 'em coming, Carlson.
This is the best Wedding Gift ever. If you feel it's too puny, include it in something else. But then again, I'm prejudiced - I give books for every occasion. The Carlsons' "love" advice can nip bad habits of newlyweds in the bud. A lot harder to change direction once the ball's in the air. Don't Sweat is something you can read every year as a reminder - those old habits die hard!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love Advice from a couple
The majority of this book is written by the man, who holds a Ph.D. His wife offers a few well-written chapters as well. Each chapter is devoted to one aspect of not "sweating the small stuff." Why aren't we told these things *before* we get married? I liked that there were male and female points of view adn it was spread into many easy, short chapters. I highly recommend this wonderful book! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good if you have an Alexader specialist nearby, otherwise...
That's a very interesting book, where you can learn about the importance of knowing your body in order to know how to use it. It can be very helpful if you intend to take Alexander Technique lessons. I bought the book because I thought this was THE book where you can learn something about the technique without taking lessons. That is not the case. The main problem is that Alexander was a fantastic pioneer on the field of sommatics but did not have the conceptual skills to transform its fantastic intuitions in an easily explainable system. If you do not have an Alexander teacher nearby you you should try Feldenkrais book Awareness Through Movement book.

5-0 out of 5 stars a wonderful supplement to taking lessons
I feel moved to respond to some of the reviews below, which seem to me to judge the book more in terms of what it is not, rather than what it is.This is an excellent book to read *as* you're taking lessons; the book provides a wonderful companion to your ongoing learning, offering some fascinating insights on body perception and habits of movement, insights that have stuck with me half a decade after I first read the book. It's a great book to browse through, reading chapters as they relate to your interests. What the book is *not* is an introduction for absolute beginners who've not heard of the technique before; it is intended for people who have taken or will take Alexander lessons, and in this it succeeds admirably.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the reading.
The auther seems to think it more important to be witty and wordy then to try to convey information. The book was painful to read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Indeed the definitive text on anger management!
I had the great pleasure and experience of having Dr. Raymond Chip Tafrate as my professor at CCSU for the course 'Controlling Anger and Aggression.'This dynamic course was complemented perfectly by this book.Whether you are a student, therapist, or individual who is interested in controlling anger, this book is for you. There are worksheets, handouts, and personal logs to track and control anger and aggression.
5-0 out of 5 stars This Text is a Must Read!
Anger Management by Howard Kassinove and Raymond Tafrate is by far the most complete and up to date text for therapists. It is a must read resource for all environments, children, adults and families, as well as the workplace. The authors break down anger episodes into understandable segments in order to assess the client's anger intensity and frequency.5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful with a veteran population
Anger Management: The Complete Treatment Guidebook for Practitioners proved to be an excellent resource for teaching veterans anger management skills. The authors'Anger Episode Model clearly explains that anger does not "come out of the blue" but follows a clear sequence of cognitive appraisal, experience, and emotional expression. The inclusion of both short-term and long-term outcomes of anger expression highlight the notion that anger has long-term consequences on physical and emotional health as well as obvious short-term consequences. The sections on Fostering Cognitive Change and Forgiveness make this book unique and particularly helpful with this population. The inability to forgive self or others and an inflexible view of the world, if not addressed as part of an anger management model, can be a major obstacle in learning and applying anger management skills. ...
