5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This is a good do it yourself book.My dog has separation anxiety and I found this very helpful.I'll keep it handy for other problems as they are encountered.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource
I found this book to be a nice overview of aromatherapy for the treatment ofsmall animals. It includes a description of the most useful essential oils, case studies, and some very useful recipies that maxamize the benefits of essential oils and hydrosols. The author is very detailed on how the essential oils should be used and applied. She cautions the use of essential oils on cats. Hydrosols should be used instead. This book also highlights the quailty of essential oils and ready made products on the market. I totally agree with her view. It includes a nice list of suppliers, resources and websites that I have found useful. I found this book to be better detailed than other aromatherpy books for small animals.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Recipe For The Sandwich Generation
I am a fifty something baby boomer who finds myself "sandwiched" with stress from both my kids and my aging parents. Thank goodness I found a recipe for serenity: Susie Mantell's "Your Present A Half Hour Of Peace." It works better than "a Calgon take me away" bubble bath and a room full ofscented candles! Mantell's voice is like a breath of fresh air. The end result: I am left feeling calm, energized, and ready for anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great gift for friends and oneself
After trying many of the other CDs, this is the one I reach for and keep coming back to.Aside from the relaxation factor, it gives me the added benefit of renewed energy.Susie Mantell's voice is a trusted guide and the techniques are clear and unfussy.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the ONE!
If you're looking for total relaxation after a stressful day, Susie's soothing voice and guided imagery will take you there.I couldn't believe how quickly Ifelt relaxed! Everytime I listen to "Your Present...", the stress of the day just melts away. This is one of the best out there; Susie guides you through your own personal journey.I highly recommend it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I am sleeping again, despite the neighbors.Itworks.
Two years ago I got a new neighbor whose bass often cuts through my house. My blood pressure would rise. Panic attacks started. No one cared. I lived inconstant fear that the music was going to come on. I found this cd by accident and it changed my life. The power of suggestion is amazing."You will hear the noise but it will not bother you.", You will wake up feeling rested and relaxed..." Now I am breathing, relaxing, sleeping, and living again. Janet has a very pleasing and soothing voice. I will probably wear out this cd. Thank you Janet.
5-0 out of 5 stars By FAR, the best product I've ever used
I have tried a dozen different programs to help with my sleep issues and this is BY FAR the best hypnosis program I have ever used. Janet's voice is soothing and her autosuggestions are very effective. Since starting this program I have regained restful, rejuvenating sleep and I feel great. It has helped me in all facets of my life and I will continue using it as a relaxation CD. I encourage anyone who has problems sleeping to buy this product immediately!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sleeping better
I have recently purchased Hypnosis to Help You Sleep Deeply by Janet I. Decker, C.HT.This is my second purchase in Decker's set of Hypnotic Empowerment Series.I had such success with her Hypnosis for Memory and Recall, I decided to try this one.I've had trouble sleeping well for years and can't remember the last time of waking up in the morning with that refreshed and really rested feeling.I have trouble going to sleep, wake up several times a night, and have a hard time getting up in the morning. This Hypnosis to Help You Sleep Deeply CD is extremely relaxing. It's an interesting experience of deep relaxation, concentration on relaxed breathing, and hearing Janet Decker's calm voice of affirmations of sleeping better. At the end of the session, you have the option of coming back up to a state to continue with your day's tasks, but refreshed, or, drifting off to sleep. It can also be used to help you sleep better if you work at night and have to sleep during the day (I've been there before too). What's also good about this Hypnosis is that you are deeply relaxed and sort of tranced, but fully aware of your surroundings and can respond to any emergencies or situation that needs your full attention. So, it feels safe.Last night, on listening to the CD, I did drift off into a pleasant sleep but the listening to the CD itself was extremely pleasant also.Anyone out there who needs to relax, this one's for you!

This is an easy read and has some great wisdom that you can share with your yoga classes if you are a teacher. She gives you exercises and mantras for living your yoga.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent research, grounded in sound principles and beautiful thoughts
I decided I liked Judith Lasater after reading her articles in Yoga Journal. She explained in one article the pathological process of sciatica nerve pain in very concrete, medical and scientific terms, enabling me to understand it completely and therefore help myself and bring this VERY common problem under control.

Editorial Review

This spiral-bound journal, conceived by Sarah Ban Breathnach, is designed to encourage writers to explore their life stories and unleash dormant creativity. Every two-page spread is exquisitely bordered by a wood print leaf pattern and includes a sage little quote to set the mood or beckon the muse (such as "People who keep journals have life twice." --Jessamyn West). The large format (11.25 by 9.75 inches) gives writers plenty of room to scrawl down their thoughts and even offers ample space for adding personal artwork or gluing in cut-out images. Several pocket folders are bound into the back for carrying clippings, postcards, or dry leaves--whatever whimsy dictates. Because it is spiral bound (with a sturdy wrap-around cover), writers can lay the book flat while at work--a major convenience.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable
There isn't too much writing in this book actually. It revolves mostly around making series of collages from amgazine clippings, etc around different self discovery themes. This is a refreshing change from the usual "Write, write, write!" I found that I felt MORE creative and very relaxed. It's a fun return to the "paste and scissors" free-for-all of your early school days.5-0 out of 5 stars Great book
But what is twaddle again? Guess you have to be from VA to know.....

5-0 out of 5 stars great read, very helpful
I bought the book for my husband and so far he is very impressed by it. He said it hits many valid points about anger in men, and he highly recommends it for any man with an anger problem.

3-0 out of 5 stars Neutral
This was the second book I turned to after having gone through "The Anger Workbook" by Les Carter. While Dr. Harbin calls a spade a spade and clearly debunks our common copouts for why we are angry, I found his book to be more of a survey, versus a self-help manual. Certainly I learned from him, and his words forced me to see some hard facts, but I did not find his few exercises to be realistic for me. The Anger Workbook constantly turned the questions over to me and my situation i.e. "given examples such as these, what are some areas in your life where you have had similar reactions or feelings?" It helped me explore the how's and why's of my anger. This book may be better for a spouse or friend of an angry person looking to understand and help. Valuable no doubt. But if you are looking for help finding the roots of your anger, this may not be the best choice. However, if you are thinking you may have an anger problem, please read something!

1-0 out of 5 stars It wasn't the most helpful for me
I've read quite a few books on anger in the last few months after having been confronted by two of the most significant folks in my life about it.The one turn-off I have toward "angry men" books is that it plays into the stereotype of men being more angry and violent. The latest studies seem to be disproving that assertion.Overall, the practical exercises in the book are helpful, however it didn't help me get to the root of my issue as other books and methods did.In the end, I set this book aside in favor of another methodology that yielded better results for me. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book On Feng Shui PERIOD!
I practice the Black Sect Tantric Tibetan Buddhist Feng Shui method but this book covers the Compass method also. After reading this delightful little book I realized that I had many changes to do in my home. Some of the other books I have read on Feng Shui were not as clear as this one is. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who practices any type of Feng Shui because it is easy to use and understand, I do however recommend that you download a picture of the Bagua to assist you in your practice.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great supplemental reference guide
This book is best used as a quick reference guide to Feng Shui! It's fun to read through and full of information, but it's not meant to be an introductory book for beginners. It's great as a reference though, it's super easy to look up information on the fly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Self-Healing Energy Knowledge
I have a feeling that if everyone was aware of and practiced Jin Shin Jyutsu, Doctors might have no patients.
5-0 out of 5 stars EVERY home should have a copy
I do not have "healing hands," a green thumb or luck with most such techniques. In the six months since I bought this book, however, I have managed to clear one upset stomach (on an airplane, no less!), one fainting spell, one bladder problem, and, most recently (and most gratefully), a case of depression.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing and easy to do

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to body mapping
Unlike many of the other reviewers, I have found this book to be an excellent introduction to body mapping and the Alexander Technique.I think the operative word is "introduction."This should not be thought of as an in-depth study of body mapping; for that, one should refer to Conable's book "How to use the Alexander technique."As both a professional singer and a voice instructor, I have found this simple book to be very useful. It is a helpful tool to introduce students to the very concept of body mapping (something that most people know nothing about...by the way, it's the study of the proper way to hold one's self and use one's body based on an accurate concept of one's physiology). It is also a helpful tool for someone who is familiar with body mapping to check yourself. If you want an in-depth study, this is not the book to use, but it is excellent to use in conjunction with other texts, especially a simple anatomy book. And, as to the cartoon-like drawings, they make it simple, and simple is a good way to start!

2-0 out of 5 stars WARNING!!! Read this before buying...
I bought this book thinking it would at least have some explanations. But no, it just is a picture book showing pictures of the different skeletal structures in the body. Buy this book ONLY if it is required for a class that you are taking on this where a teacher is there to fill in the explanations as it is USELESS without them.
2-0 out of 5 stars There must be a better book out there
This book is very cartoony and seems almost like a handout you might get at a seminar or a class. It is not necassarily bad, but it doesn't really give you detailed explanations on what you should do.It is more of an illustrated tour of various Alexander concepts.I am still searching for a good Alexander book, but I haven't found one yet so I can't recommend one, but there must be a better one out there, so try a different book. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Lillian Too's Flying Star: Feng Shui for the Master Pratict
I disagree with most of the reviews here.I am a huge fan of Ms. Too's and have no doubt this author knows her stuff! (by the way she graduated from Harvard Business school - very smart lady) This book is perfect for those interested in extending their skill levels in flying star feng shui. I found it most helpful and saw no contradictions from previous books.I would caution those without a good grasp of basic flying star or compass school feng shui not to purchase this book until they are "ready". It can be confusing for those who haven't studied this science extensively.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sitting or Facing?
I think this book is well written and gives good explanations of the complicated astrology/numerology aspects of Feng Shui. But part of it seems to contradict Ms. Too's earlier book, The Complete Illustrated Guide to Feng Shui (1996).In that one, the facing direction of the back door determines good and bad areas (the eight locations).A house with back door facing NW is a West-group Chien house with its good and bad areas matching those of West-group people. But in this newer book the facing direction of the front door is used and a SE-facing house is labelled "West-group" but its good and bad areas match those of East-group people (see page 184). I feel very frustrated because I thought I understood this -- but now, not.I wonder if it's a mistake, because I've found mistakes in other books by this author, specifically in the drawings and diagrams. In The Complete Illustrated guide, I think the diagram on page 96 has mixed up "good" and "bad" locations, they conflict with the text. In Smart Feng Shui for the Home, the East trigram on yang pa kua is wrong (page 31).In the new book Flying Star Feng Shui for Period 8, the mountain and water star numbers are switched in the NW sector (page 67).The books are fascinating to me and have lots of information.I feel they need to be more careful in the proofreading stage.

1-0 out of 5 stars Borrowed ideas
Not quite what I have expected. She should stick to what she writes best - all about superstitions and buying feng shui stuffs. Classical feng shui are for the classical feng shui writers. Would rather read Eva Wong's books. I think she got most of the originals from other classical feng shui writers. It's disgraceful! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Reference book for suffers and those who loves him/her
This is NOT a self-help Book. If you want a Self-Help Book, do your research and buy one. This book is a REFERENCE book about anxiety disorder. and is a GOOD ONE~!

3-0 out of 5 stars If you have anxiety...
If you have anxiety, 360 pages of info is overwhelming. Usually anxiety is not that complicated. Start with something simple that gets right to the point of reducing your anxiety (I did the program at selftherapy.org and loved it). Then if you want to become an expert, read a book like this.. highly informational, but not all that practical.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disorganized
Abolsutely one of the worst self-help books I have read. There isn't any structure, and it's not simplistic. The advice given is helpful but the authors then reverse the whole deal. Its like one chapter says this will be helpful, and then another chapter says it wont. It just goes all over the place and you cant really follow what the authors are trying to get at.

4-0 out of 5 stars There is help out there!
I've struggled my whole life with a number of issues: perfectionism, low self-esteem, self-destructive behaviour.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for understanding and changing perfectionism
As a psychologist working in a college counseling center, I see many students who beat themselves up with perfectionistic-type thoughts such as "If I don't get an A in this class, I'm a failure" or "I can't let my friends know I'm upset because they'll think there's something wrong with me."These destructive thoughts can have a devastating impact by leading to anxiety, depression, and a host of other difficulties, and this is the #1 book I recommend to students who are struggling with these issues.5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful book
After reading the main part of the book, I am so grateful for having bought this book. I have been extremely depressed because of my excessive high standards toward myself. This book acts as a mirror to my problems and I can see my perfectionistic tendencies in many aspects. I also try to work through the techniques suggested by the authors to overcome my perfectionistic thoughts and behavior. I cannot say that I have eliminated all such problems but I can see I am on the right track! I am now more aware of my fear and anxiety since most of them orginated from my perfectionism. Read more

Editorial Review

Where you start reading this book will probably say a lot about your currentstation in life. New parents will probably skip right to chapter 12 and the section subtitled"Tips for Exhausted Parents of Newborns, Infants, and Children." Drowsyoffice workers might go for chapter 9, which explores the subject of midday naps (whichmay reduce stress and the risk of heart disease). Other chapters look at traveling (driving, jet lag), shift work, and insomnia and other sleep disorders. Dr. James Maas has spent 34years lecturing to drowsy psychology undergraduates at Cornell University, and knowshow to hold an audience--even when the subject is sleep, and even when the conclusion isthat most of us don't get enough of it. This is a fascinating book; you'll want to take it inslowly and then sleep on it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read...some useful advice for the peak performer!
I picked up this book in a used bookstore, again instinctively, after having read Veronique's The Art of Doing Nothing & William Anthony's The Art of Napping. Although the book does not offer really cutting-edge stuff, I find it fascinating, as it offers some useful advice for the peak performer.
5-0 out of 5 stars Power Sleep by Maas
A main thesis of the work is that sleep is critical to peak
3-0 out of 5 stars Not a waste of money but not what I expected
I liked this book in a lot of ways, but when it ended, I was dissappointed. There is worthwhile information about sleep and interesting quotations from famous people about sleep but there seemed to be a lot of filler in this book. The book throws out many statistics but rarely explains how these stastics were obtained.I also thought the book contained too many horror stories about deaths related to people falling asleep while operating heavy machinery etc.,.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not procrastinating here ...
On page 108, Ms. Emmett's son asks and is answered that when people are really too busy, they have a choice to say no to some activities. After another question, she says that yes she does tell them that at her seminars. He replies, "Well ... why does it take you eight hours to tell them that?" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Book for People Who Do Too Much
This little book is clever, funny and full of adorable pictures of animals depicting the various states we live in as we go through life trying to do everything. The advice is wise and it's worth reading over and over again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bought It for the Pictures - Wasn't Disappointed
Although the words ring true throughout the book, it's the photos that capture your attention.A great little book for gift-giving, this book is a welcome addition to any coffee table, end table, office or even bathroom bookshelf. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Still a winning formula
At some point in reading Bradley Trevor Grieve's mini-sermons one can't help but get hit by a wave of "Why didn't I think of this?" The idea of taking a simple lecture on enjoying life for what it is and complimenting it with animal photographs that perfectly and often very humorously illustrate his point is so simple that it's genius. In "The Book For People Who Do Too Much" Grieve continues with this formula, and for the most part the results are successful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great source for herbs
My copy is older (1986).I imagine there is a new and updated version out.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best herb book i've ever read.
This is the best, bar none. It goes into detail with each herb, telling us the energetics of the herbs, in terms of ayurveda-the oldest system of popular standardized medicine in the world. Ayurveda literally means science of life. There is indepth information on the physical and psychological effects of each herb. It even tells you how the herbs relate to the chakras. Dr. Vasant Lad is the countrys' leading authority on Ayurveda (besides Deepak Chopra)and he got together with David Frawley-a very learned Vedic scholar to write this book. Together they make magic happen. This book is more than worth the money .

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource
An excellent guide to Ayurvedic medical applications of herbs. This book includes a good introduction to Ayurvedic principles, management of the doshas and good summary charts for over 270 as well as detailed sections on 108 of the most common herbs and special Oriental herbs. Invaluable for the herbalist interested in Ayurveda. ... Read more
