Every doctor should read this book !
Many doctors take their communication skills for granted, but the sad fact remains that most of us do not do a good job talking to our patients. Learning how to improve your bedside manner is extremely difficult to do, but this book shows you how you can do so. Reading this book is likely to be one of the best investments of your time you can make - and it's full of practically useful stuff you can implement immediately !

I'm not a doctor, but I'm often a patient.This book has shown me how to communicate better with my doctor.In fact, I think it has excellent and helpful information for everyone, as we all try to make others understand our desires and comply with them.

Really good for those interested in assisted living needs
I needed information on how to finance, build and market senior housing.The information in this book on elderly and handicapped housing needs is really helpful to me.This is well done, and those of us not part of the industry can understand it.

An essential part of your long-term care management library.
Pearce has done an excellent job of writing a sentinel primer for managing long-term care communities.The details are all there.Of even greater importance, the details are presented within the context of critical principles that distinguish the excellent community from the average or mediocre.As a faculty member responsible for a number of long-term care management courses at two schools of public health, this is one of a very limited number of texts that I assign as "must reads" for my students.

A Detailed and Complete Guide on Senior Living Communities
I truly enjoyed "Senior Living Communities: Operations Management and Marketing for Assisted Living, Congregate, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities".It answered most of the questions that I had on developing a community for senior living. I feel a social calling to provide for the housing and care needs of the elderly. The Senior Care track was adopted as a part of the Masters of Real Estate degree that I am enrolled in. This book was used in one of my classes. What a blessing!As I began to read this book, I realized that most of the "concise details" in developing a community are all in there.I am so amazed to see such valuable information each time I turn the page. Extremely thoughtful and valuable resource
I find this book to be a very loving and thoughtful account of the stories of caregivers of loved-ones with Dimentia. It has practical advise on how to cope, where to go for support and even a some comical moments told with the utmost of respect!I would recommend this book to anyone who is a caregiver or knows someone who is.It seems we all know someone with this disease.

Very Helpful
This book was nice to have around when I needed to talk to someone about how I felt, but felt guilty complaining when the people I was taking care of were going through such a difficult time. It was a very helpful companion and good to see what others have gone through and tried. I recommend it if you find yourself in the same unfortunate situation as I did.

A USER-FRIENDLY GUIDE TO MANAGING HYPERTENSION NATURALLY - WITH MEDS ONLY AS NEEDED
IN A NUTSHELL: E-Z to grasp balanced approach
now, this is my kind of doctor!
I never thought I'd find a cardiologist who agrees with me that prescription drugs are a last resort, but here he is. Believe it or not, he even understands enough about real life to tell you to get your chi in shape! If you want to know which supplements live up to their hype (and some of them do), this is the book you need.

I'm already eating lots of rice and soy...
Ever wonder what Asparagus, Avacados and Anger have to do with hypertension?Although some folks suggest you should not eat Avocados if you are on a low fat diet, perhaps you will reconsider after you read Steven and Jan Sinatra's book. And although asparagus are available seasonally, so you may want to eat as many of the fresh ones as you can and avoid the canned variety unless you wash the salt off. Frozen asparagus are okay but they lack the crunch of course. The Sinatras say your best bet is to freeze your own.

Alzheimers Early Stages
A really informative book that points you in the right direction as far as finances, estate planning etc.I would recommend this book to family members who are caring for someone with this condition.

a godsend
I know my family is going to benefit so much from this book.It has what we are looking for -- all types of basic information, about the disease itself and practical caregiving information, presented in a very calming manner.We are in the tricky situation of the affected family member's refusal to go to a doctor, so we don't even have a professional as a guide through this situation....not yet anyway.It is great to have Mr. Kuhn's experience and depth of knowledge, in an easy-to-read and comprehensive guide.

Best Road Map for Families
I wish this book had been available when I started the caregiving journey with my parents, both with (mis-diagnosed) early stage Alzheimer's disease. I had to learn everything the hard way. Knowledge is power and this book will explain all the details your doctor doesn't have time to tell you. If you know anyone starting down this path with elderly loved ones, this is a book they will thank you for.Read more

I don't understand what the purpose of this book is.
I bought it to try to get insight into what parents think about or worry about....couldn't read it....
A must read for parents
This book is well written and gives important information that is not significantly biased to either side of this issue.It is a must read for parents who want to be educated about the pros and cons of childhood vaccinations and how to safely vaccinate your child.

Must read for anyone considering vaccination
As a non-vaxing family I try to get my hands on all of the books I can find on the subject. This is one of the best out there for the average reader.It covers each vaccine in depth and gives a very unbiased viewpoint.

very interesting
Its one of my favorites, all of the tricks that it mentions are great. Its hard to stop reading, its full of great information and tips, it opened my eyes as to how far chiropractic treatment together with kinesiology will help people eliminate obstructions, and achieve great health.

It has it all
It contains practical detox recipes and instructions, muscle testing guidelines and easy to read charts. It goes into alternative therapies and yet, thankfully in my case, skips gem therapy.

Expected More
The book did cover Clinical Kinesiology and related areas, but not at the depth that I had expected based on the other reviews of the book.The authors presented "real" examples, but failed to follow up with corrective solutions for the "lay person".Most of the solutions were "your muscle tested weak, see a professional for help".I didn't expect the level of detail that is contained in the six Beardall books, but some corrective examples (like in the Touch For Health books) would have been appropriate.Enough said, it was interesting reading. ... Reality Check
This book is an excellent source of information on the body's aging processes.It will educate the reader on ways to identify lifestyle choices that may have a negetive impact on one's health. Written with a negetive undertone, this is a real slap-in-the-face, a good reality check.Makes you aware of your unhealthy habits and gives you options of control.Emphasis on being responsible for your own health and happiness.

This book caused be to change many bad behaviors
I read the first Realage book in 2000 and it is the book that finally got me to exercise,floss daily, eat nuts,wear my seat belt, take vitamins and start many other healthy habits. When you start thinking of your behavior as making you older or younger it really make you conscious of the fact that you are damaging your body. I have read hundreds of books in my life but the Realage books have caused more change in me than any other. Ignores detoxification and other things
I thought this book had some useful information when I first read it several years ago. After I read it, I stopped taking selenium supplements and decreased my daily dosage of vitamin C to 2,000 mg. Then I got a tumor in my neck (spring 2000), and most recently a breast tumor. I read that selenium actually inhbits the growth of tumors, so I am upset for having followed Roizen's advice. Also, I learned that one can take up to 10 GRAMS of vitamin C per day with very beneficial results. This vitamin also helps prevent and fight cancer. Finally, Roizen completely omits any mention of the need for regular detoxification. He says it's okay to drink tap water! I have lost my respect for this author and am now selling his book. An excellent overview
A solid general survey of the US health care system.Provides demographic and comparative perspectives, discusses political and economic policy in a clear and balanced way, plus gives insight into the institutional settings and professional environments where health care carried out.
Not Worth It!
I am a public administration student in a top ranked gradute program. This book was one course's required textbook and only because the editior, Anthony Kovner, was the instructor. While few students enjoyed the course, no one felt that this book is worth purchase. The only people that I would recommend this book to are foreign graduate students who have no working knowledge whatsoever about the US healthcare system. Otherwise, there are numerous books on the market that are cheaper and much more informative and intellectual. ... Read more

Learn how easy it is to be younger
This book was an enjoyable read covering a lot of the same ground as some of the new diet books and anti-aging books, like RealAge and the Anti-Aging Zone. But it is useful and easy to implement.
Ten Year Tounger: The Amazing Ten Week Plan to Look Better, Feel Better, and Turn Back the Clock
Dr. Masley does an excellent job outlining a workable and realistic health plan which includes receipes that are delicious.Be sure to try the leek souffle receipe. As a former Atkins fan I have switched over for a senseable approach that I can live with.This is practical, hands on sutff! I appreciate his medical explanations and always enjoy another option in handling my diet and health. A must read for anyone who wants to increase their awareness and gain insight on how nutrition works!

Ten Years Younger: The not so amazing Plan.....
This is just like any other diet book and "How to Stay Healthy" plan that is on the market.I really learned nothing new from the information provided.The Title of the book is catchy.In a nut-shell: DO Exercise, Don't Over Eat, and stay away from JUNK: Tabacco ,refined sugars, Alchohol and over- processed foods.Hell, If I had an MD after my name, I can write a book, Too!

There seems to be some vastly differing opinions on this book and what it actually says.
Gave Me Hope
My husband found Inconceivable while searching Amazon.com for a book that might help me deal with the devastation and hopelessness I was feeling after 3 failed in-vetro attempts.When I first started reading it, I was a little bitter because the author already had a child and was just frustrated because she could not seem to get pregnant with a second child.Being desperate for a first child, I wondered how someone who already has a child could possibly help me, but I kept reading, and after a couple chapters, I realized what her real message is....trust your instincts, your eating habits DO matter, and open your mind to actively research alternative options in addition to the conventional.The bottom line is to do what you think is right for you.What an empowering feeling!

Amazingly Helpful!
This book is fantastic!Even just learning the breathing exercise on pg 182 for polarity disorganization makes a huge difference in anything else you do.

Don't Be a Doubting Thomas
This book is absolutely amazing. After allowing yourself to swallow some pretty intense assumptions about energy and polarity (i.e. things you can't see or touch), you'll be able to rid your body and brain of anxiety, anger, fear, worry, and phobias (I can now look at a spider without a full blown anxiety attack). Just take the leap and you'll do wonders for yourself. It's easy to master the techniques (I devoted 3 hours one day to heal myself and it was worth every second). When I tell people about this book and what I did, they just look at me as if to say "oh...yeah...that's nice...I believe you...you're a nut job" but the bottom line is, it works, I believe in it and after living my life for 33 years full of panic, anxiety, the inability to travel without extreme sickness and fear - it's all gone. Simply exceptional!
Mr. Rechelbacher's book features ideas to help beautify your life from the inside, out.Both his writing style and the book layout is easy to read.He is very good about "suggesting" changes in your lifestyle, and with each change he suggests, he talks in detail about how such a change could benefit your life, health, and/or appearance.He uses his own rituals as a starting point, but encourages the reader to develop their own personal rituals.He does not shamelessly plug his own products (as some authors are wont to do).He even admits to not following his own advice occasionally!I especially liked his chapters on self-massage (something I'd never even considered), nutrition, and refreshing yourself mid-day. Not Helpful at all
I found this book not very helpful at all. There is general information but if you are looking for insights into treatment, they aren't here. Writer is anti-RAI which is fine if your symptons aren't very severe but if they are, this book won't help.

Promises, promises.....
Same old information that is available everywhere, and a lot more on HypOthyroidism than I expected to encounter.The title seems to promise some hints for the often troublesome aspects of the disease, perhaps information the author might have gleaned from patients who had learned to cope.Unfortunately this promise is not fulfilled.I learned nothing new, and most of the areas of interest to me did not offer any solutions to "living well." A waste of $.
