5-0 out of 5 stars Positional Release Therapy
This is the most must have, useful book I own.Techniques in this books were used on me by my Physical Therapist.I was on high doses of very strong pain medication.Through techniques used in this book, I no longer need to sleep with a cervical collar, my sciocita is fixed, as well as many other areas of my body that were in constant severe pain.I now take little and no pain medication.Positional Release Therapy along with other simple aids have helped me get back to a more normal life. The book is written so clear that a person without medical knowledge can effectively use the procedures. The good thing is you can't mess something else up by doing it wrong. You follow the directions and pictures until you get it right.Surgery was recommended by doctors on my back and this is now not a necessary option for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars clinically helpful
Although I've only taken one strain/counterstrain course (for the extremities) I use this text frequently in the clinic. The photos are clear and I can easily duplicate the positions for the neck/back although I've had no specific course instruction on those areas. Many times the techniques from this book have helped when other things haven't worked.Definitely worth checking this one out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easily organizes strain/counterstrain intervention
Kerry organizes the concept of strain/counterstrain into an systemic approach that is easy to use and document. His book contains pictures demonstrating each release position with an awareness of the therapistsbody mechanics. He has done a great service to all physical therapists andosteopaths through this well organizerd work. ... Women trust and rely on their doctors for medical guidance. "Unfortunately, that advice is sometimes biased or ill-informed," says John McDougall, M.D. "The consequence is that a lot of women choose treatments that are ineffective at best, or harmful at worst." In Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Listen To Those Negative Punks With the Bad Reviews!
I am 20 years old and I have been following the McDougall Program for a year and a half now, and it has changed my life.I had been an ovo-lacto vegetarian for 3 years before I began this program.I had been overweight all my life, pretty much ever since I was born. Even as an ovo-lacto I was overweight and could never lose weight.I love to eat.I never had energy.I was always hungry and on a diet.I tried high-protein and it made me ill in scary ways. Then I discovered the McDougall program and I can eat happily and satisfy my appetite, lost 40 pounds and feel so much better.I feel good knowing that I only put healthy food in my body.Anyone who says you can't live without animial products doesn't know what they are talking about. If vegetarianism and veganism were dangerous the Seventh Day Adventist religion would have died out long ago.The notion that this program is restrictive is nonsense.Look at all the McDougall cookbooks there are.And almost any recipe is modifiable to the program with a few substitutions. If you think you need to eat fat, have some avocados or nuts or tofu. They won't clog your arteries like milk and eggs. This program is liberating and life-changing, and Americans would be much healthier if they adopted the McDougalls' principles.

This is a great , and interesting book for all women to read

5-0 out of 5 stars Insightful, Inspiring & Entertaining!
I bought this book for a friend with cancer and after reading the preface and first chapter just couldn't put it down! Verne Varona writes with an amazing clarity, insight and entertaining style while demystifing all kinds of nutritional myths. His information about acid and alkaline is the best I've read anywhere and his sugar craving information has allowed me to challenge what was a formidable addiction. It seems like he's taken the best of numerous cultural medicines and combined them into a practical and refreshing melting pot approach. Best of all, after five weeks on this program I feel better than I have in 30 years! I have as much kitchen savvy as kangeroo, but his recipes are easy-to-follow and absolutely delicious. Whether you have cancer, concerned about cancer or just in search ofgood health, this highly motivating book is a must read for anyone wanting to improve or recover their health. That's my take!5-0 out of 5 stars Well Researched and thought out
Loaded with the latest Research and many years of practical experience, made this book such a beleivable read, a book I can reference and read over and over again, I specifically used a pink highlighter to zoom in on all the important points, which runs rampant without the whole book. If you are a person who wants valid, clear information on how to take care of yourself for the rest of your life whether you have cancer or not, this is the book for you, I healed my cancer fifteen years ago using these principles and there never outdated, like so many diet trends out there!! this is a keeper. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Home Essential
What I love most about this book, is that Dadd gives practical changes that can be made as gradually or quickly as budget demands. We use alot of the recipes for natural cleaning in this book. But my favorite recipe overall is for the Ginger Soda... mmmm.As my children grow out of their old toys, almost all plastic, we've been getting them new ones that are more natural (wooden mostly). And as they are growing out of their clothes we replace them with cotton fabric.I was very suprised, as I looked at the tags in the clothes, how much of it was synthetic blends. We've replaced the childrens' and our bedding with 100% cotton and we're all sleeping better. I recommend this book to everyone who will give me the time of day!Enjoy and have safer, happier home!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite reference book for keeping our home environment SAFE and TOXIN FREE
It is challenging these days to know what cookware to buy, how to get rid of ants without calling pest control, and what bubblebath is safe. I was surprised to learn that even my home's type smoke detectors contained fadioactive material (yikes) and that even your ironing board can outgass fumes...This book is very very helpful to me, this is info that is hard to find elsewhere!

3-0 out of 5 stars Agree, But Disagree
I agree with Reiss that if we take hormones at all, they should be natural hormones, and unfortunately, so many women suffer from menopausal symptoms that hormonal replacement seems to the the only answer or relief. I suffered from day and night hot flashes, skin conditions, and a lousy mood as I entered menopause.I actually went to a western medical doctor, something I totally disagree with. They wanted to put me on premarin, and/or anything else I would take to fatten their kickbacks.Luckily, I was referred to a holistic health consultant trained originally by Native Americans. She showed me how to get in balance without hormones, and I'm fine. This book, and many like them, should be read with caution. When doctors write books, it's the same to them as writing a prescription.Forget the cures, find the cause. When the cause is eliminated, there's no need for a cure. Read Gangi, then add this as a follow-up.

5-0 out of 5 stars At Last - Life Changing Truth About Natural HRT for Women
This is the first truly detailed and informative book I've read on Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy (NHRT) that I can really use. Now at age 51, I had started a NHRT regemin at age 49 that was helping, but I did not understand why sometimes it didn't work very well or not at all for some debillitating symptoms. I was also concerned about increasing my risk for cancer. After reading this book, and adjusting my hormone intake, I am no longer suffering from migraines, I no longer fear increasing my risk for cancer, the mind fuzziers are pretty much gone, and I feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally that I have in years - I'm talking since about age 15 here! As women, we must become informed about our hormone balances and imbalances, especially if we suffer from dramatic mood swings in our earlier years, or are approaching, or experiencing menopause. This book will become a permanent part of your 'health library'. Very self empowering!
5-0 out of 5 stars A terrific book providing a good understanding of synthetic vs bio-identical hormones
Dr. Reiss clearly presents how important the hormones are to health, and how your understanding of them can help. This is a very accessible book, and a must read for anyone who has an interest in health (does that leave anyone out?) ... Read more

"The magic key to health, happiness, and romance is waiting for you in your local health food store," says relationship guru John Gray, Ph.D. Not only do men and women have different communication and love styles, they gain and lose weight differently and need different diets, asserts Gray, author of the bestselling Mars and Venus series. Though he does not have credentials in exercise, nutrition, or weight management, Gray creates a program that, he claims, balances each gender's brain chemistry, resulting in health, weight loss, stress management, and romance. 5-0 out of 5 stars Makes perfect sense!
The Mars and Venus Diet and Exercise Solution makes perfect sense and there's no one better to explain the differences between men and women when it comes to dieting and exercise than John Gray. And I love the way he ties diet and exercise back into the health of relationships.
4-0 out of 5 stars John Gray and Isagenix = Perfect Combination
John Gray, for any who have had the pleasure of seeing him in person, is an absolutely amazing speaker. He is a genuine person who cares about people. He's funny, he's highly intelligent, and he really understands the fundamental differences between men and women. We are truly different creatures.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
I stumbled across Jon Gordon in a book entitled "The Experts Guide to..." while I waited in a store while my girlfiend shopped. In there he gave a brief outline on having more energy, so I figured I would inquire and learn more.Since this book rec'd 5 stars from several reviews, I figured it was a good place to start and it is.The reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is stuff we all know, and he manages to make it very accessible, making you realize you can achieve it.
5-0 out of 5 stars The 10-Minute Energy Solution
Jon has a way of pulling you back to the basics. He helps you realize that properly focused time and energy using only 10 minutes a day can truly make a difference. Keeping it simple has a whole new meaning. More energy and less stress are just two of the by-products you gain from following this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Daily Steps to Success!
Jon makes it so easy to get started-and starting is the KEY. Everyone has 10 minutes per day and everyone can `stand' doing something, even if they don't love it for only 10 minutes a day. However, you'll like the daily 10 minute plan Jon has designed for you. The simple and effective daily steps will have you making conscious steps toward increasing your positive energy each day. Success builds day-by-day and includes a component of prayer or contemplation that anchors these changes and increases your spiritual energy.

I'm Jami's sister, the one who once cheated her out of change after buying candy. If only I had kept my own diaries! I'm also her second-toughest critic, and I know this is her best book yet. But, in the interests of Full Disclosure, please be advised that the hamster, Baby Dear, was mine! Her real name was Cleopatra, though she was probably not a reincarnation of the Egyptian queen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny, insightful . .like she lived my life
I got the book today and am through the first 100 pages, and I love it.I find myself laughing out loud at her familiar stories of being overweight . .I would cry if I didn't laugh.I think she has the most realistic approach to weight loss that I have come across in a long time.Fad diets don't work. And how uncomfortable it can be to be overweight and working with/socializing with the thin, fabulous and sometimes famous. Her discomfort with her sexuality during her teens also strikes a cord. She is simply spot on with all her remarks.I advise this book if you are thinking about dieting or actually dieting, or even if you just know someone who struggles with overweight. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read Book
This is such a practical book and very helpful in the "where do I go if I have cancer" question. It gives you hope that cancer does not have to be a death bed. You do have alternatives to radiation and chemo. A must read book

5-0 out of 5 stars Getting tired of the "why" question...
As an "alternative" practitioner, it sure does get tedious to hear the question, "If it worked so well, then why isn't it all over the news and talked about by every M.D. and cancer researcher?"With the answer often being, "because it works too well and no real money can be made from it", most people grapple with the implications and ultimately write it off as some crazy conspiracy theory. This is the saddest, most frustrating, and even ridiculous type of road block to encounter when attempting to educate and help very ill people. It ultimately reveals the extent to which we've all been programmed (and I don't use that term lightly here). If you don't like the word "conspiracy", then use another, but it doesn't change the fact that a small group of greedy, powerful people are keeping vital health info from the rest of us for a variety of self-serving reasons.
1-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand yet falls short of proof.
Let me break it down for you, The book ledges Apricot Seeds containchemically locked(inert) amounts of Cyanide. Coincidently, cancer cells contain the magic protein that unlocks the Cyanide, in effect poisoning itself when it comes in contact with B17! It's a Miracle!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Start to a Spiritual Path
I do not understand how anyone could find Mr. Meadows works to be disrespectful to Native Americans. He states in his books that he has collected his knowledge from numerous sources and is not locking in a "single" aspect of this knowledge, but several. Native Americans (and I am half Choctaw)should rejoice in more Americans learning Native ways. After all, most people no longer have respect for our planet or the other life forms here & the planet and animal & plant species are all suffering from this.Mr. Meadows works are a great start to understanding this and helping find the "Spirit Within".He also explains in his books that Shamanism is a Practice,a way of life, not a religion.I think it's a good read and well worth the time and money!

1-0 out of 5 stars Plastic Shamanism
I do not recommend any of Kenneth Meadow's books. He is what many American Indians would call a "plastic shaman," in other words a fake. He fails to mention that the beliefs he has taken are mainly Lakota beliefs, in other words he practically generalizes all American Indian tribes as if they have all the same beliefs. Which is definitely not the case. One of his sources is Harley Swiftdeer. Swiftdeer was officially kicked out of the Cherokee nation because of making sacred beliefs become public.
5-0 out of 5 stars answered a lot of my questions about life!!
This book is excellent! It DOES come after a companion book, though. I've been a Wiccan for over 10 years, but had never read a book so "dead-on!" It let me realize that the Native American community and their views are-in MY opinion- right up there with what people like Einstein and Prof. Hawking have to offer! The book covered a lot of ground, yet was easy to understand and read. You will definitely understand more about the types of problems prolo handles, and how it works. Highly recommended to anybody considering this form of treatment.

3-0 out of 5 stars Promising but am still somewhat skeptical
I have suffered from dire chronic muscular pain in my neck and shoulder and low buttocks regions for well over two years and it's been hell to say the least. I have done everything imaginable to fight this - I have seen three accupuncturists, three massage therapists and four physical therapists, taken NSAIDs, RICE techinques and yet my pain still persists.5-0 out of 5 stars prolo Miracle!!!
I found this book and the treatment of Prolo for my wife. She had suffered for two years after a fall that caused chronic whiplash syndrome. She was off of work for months at a time and had severe headaches, vertigo, insomnia, terrible constant migraines, memory loss, shooting pains in arms, neck, and shoulder, as well as depression. We had mri's, cat scans, x- rays, accupuncture, accupressure, physical therapy, chiro., and nothing helped. Other doctors said there was nothing wrong and she was faking it!!!! Within days of first treatment we knew something was different. Within 6 weeks she was back at work and has been steadily improving. She is about 90% totally healed after four treatments. Insurance did pay about 75% of the cost also. Buy this book if you have chronic pain, buy it today and start to live again!!!! Dr. Hauser is MY personal hero, he gave me back my wife!!!!!!!!! ... Editorial Review

Psychiatric drugs are prescribed to more than 20 million Americans. This book aims to convince us to stop taking these drugs, and to show us how to do it safely. The authors contend that after 15 minutes with a physician or psychiatrist, Americans are prescribed medications that we may take for years or a lifetime, which can do more harm than good. We're irritable, anxious, emotionally numbed, physically fatigued, and mentally dulled. Yet when we stop taking the drugs, we encounter a whole new set of problems and setbacks.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Peter Breggin
I'm glad Peter Breggin is telling the truth about the dangerous drugs that are being pushed on more and more of us.The drugs that are supposed to "fix" people are turning them into zombies, and more of our children are drugged each day.
5-0 out of 5 stars Down from 32 to 5 pills a day
My wife has reduced her medication from 32 pills a day to 5 a day using the gradual reduction approach described in this book. She was withdrawn and unable to interact with the children at all before. Now she is her children's "Mommy" in a much more real sense and can actually experience real joy from time to time (not possible shen emotions are suppressed by the drugs). This author may seem extreme, but if you want to try reducing you medication, get the book and follow the advice whether you agree with the reasons for wholesale criticism of psychiatric meds or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars life saver!
This is a very good and honest book, helping people overdiagnosed and overmedicated.I am one who read this after being told I would do terrible if not taking psychiatric drugs over 5 years ago and I read this book, changed counselors, and was able to come off psychiatric medication that was making it difficult for me to function.I am doing fine now, dealing with problems in a sensible way, getting along well with others, working, and enjoying life, with no psychiatric treatment, only compassionate counseling that I find is helpful.I recommend it for anyone prescribed psychiatric medication or studying psychology.

5-0 out of 5 stars No other book is as good
I think the biggest complaint or criticism of Dr. Perricone's recommendations is the excessive cost of supplements and creams. With regard to the supplements, Dr. Perricone gives recommendations on the vitamins and supplements you should take. I spent some time looking at all the ingredients listed and realized that you can get those same supplements, vitamins, and minerals at your local health food / vitamin store GNC carries a lot of them get DMAE here and so does Trader Joe's you can get the Complete EFA essential fatty acids, Alpha Lipoic Acid, but does not have DMAE, and Costco good price for CoEnzyme Q10! The prices are much more reasonable. In fact, on the nvperricone website, the vitamin packets list all the ingredients and the amount of product included in the packets. In his book, he makes dosage recommendations too. I hope this helps.
5-0 out of 5 stars You'll love this book
I became interested in Dr. Perricone theory once I saw him on PBS over a year ago. He was convincing enough to make me, old sceptic, get his book and follow his advice... I recommend The Perricone Promise to anyone who wants to lead a healthier lifestyle and have younger looking skin. It is actually a continuation of the idea presented in his previous book Perricone Prescription.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book!
Wonderful book for those who want suggestions and guidance to living a more natural life. I am an owner of a natural lifestyle website Life-Thyme - and this book fits right along with with so much of what makes life beautiful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and Uplifting
This is a beautiful book with a balanced approach to aging, beauty, and health. (I've happily used Dr. Hauschka products for almost 20 years, so I'll admit to being biased.) Highly recommended to those who use the products as well as to those who would like to learn more about a holistic lifestyle.

2-0 out of 5 stars Offensive, 'blame the victim' tripe
So ... I now learn that the infertility problems I had for many years, which I always thought were due to polycystic ovaries and failure to ovulate were ACTUALLY due to the fact that I hate my husband, didn't want to have children with him or was simply ambivilent about motherhood.
5-0 out of 5 stars Original Cover
I absolutly love this book. The one thing I have to say against it though is the new cover.I think they should replush another version of it with the original cover.I would make it less clincal feeling

2-0 out of 5 stars Bias Was Off-Putting
Dr. Northrup provides women with practical information about their bodies, stages of life and medical procedures. However, I was appalled by her bias against Western cultural heritage and Christianity. Her views on those topics were extremely unbalanced, with no acknowledgement of their positive contributions to culture and women. As a Catholic whose best teachers were strong-minded, compassionate religious sisters, I felt offended by her slur against nuns.I am aware that not everyone feels the same way about their religious upbringing, but I would expect an academic to strive for some balance in their research. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars APPLE CIDER VINEGAR does ALOT for YOU.
I am giving this book a '5' STAR rating mostly for what the APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (or for short ACV) does to help you and that the BRAGG FAMILY brought this information to the public by writing about it. First and foremost ACV has been over looked by many for what it can help you with, example: ACID STOMACH / BURNS / SUNBURNS / HEALING / CLEANSING FACIAL...just to name a few. I will tell you now that if you ever have a stomach ache or acid reflux (and I am speaking from personal experience) just by taking a SIP of ACV (even if your stomach says 'oh no please don't') do it. In 10 minutes I got complete relieve as did both of my daughters when they had upset stomachs. I have had friends in the Medical field look at me funny when I tell them it worked but it does. Try IT. Now aside from that I was amazed at all the other uses for ACV. It has healing properties too, as I found out they use it on animals to help heal sores. After reading the book, I was wondering why I had not heard about the miracle of ACV. I am now adding it to my diet, dare I tell you I am attempting to lower my blood pressure with it and it seems to be working. (with healthy eating and walking). My hat is off to the BRAGGS for putting a book out that let's the rest of know some really simple remedies. I am sure there are skeptics, as I hear from my own circle of friends. But when something works and works for you personally, the WORD of the critic does not RING OUT as the stomach that settles so you can SLEEP. Good Job to the Braggs. Read all of their books. Paul Bragg, the Father was a person that Jack LeLane (the jumping jack guru) looked up to and he seems to be doing just fine.
3-0 out of 5 stars Very simple
I honestly don't think there was a need to write a book for other than the fact that you cant sell a 1 page book.To summarzize this book for you, drink 2 heaping teaspoons of raw honey, 2 teaspoons of RAW apple cider vinegar only the kind from healthstores that has the live enzymes and a glass of water mix it together and sip it. Drink 3 of these a day for the rest of your life. That is the book in a nutshell. The rest of the book they try to encorporate bragg lifestyle principles as well as other uses for vinegar like clenaing the stove etc.I wish someone had summed it up for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Apple Cider Vinegar by Bragg
A well indexed book with excellent natural health information. My mother used apple cider vinegar and I, my family and friends do also and for good reason. It helps the body to not only alleviate problems but in many cases to stay healthy without resorting to drugs. ... Read more
