5-0 out of 5 stars Practical information on nutrition that works.
From reading the book, it is apparent that this author doesn't just have book knowledge, but has been helping people with nutrition for a long time. It is not a deep, scientific book, but I would say more of a common senseand laymans explanation of what nutritional products work and which don't.Even though its easy to understand, most of the things that I wasinterested in such as prostate health, did have the references to thestudies that documented which herbs help, which I like instead of justanecdotal information. I passed along the book to a friend who recently hadan angiogram, since there is a good chapter on heart disease and how tominimize it once you have it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very good overview of vitamins and minerals.
A friend at work recommended this book to me after her sister helped cure her 5-year old son of candida (when Western doctors couldn't).They were never believers in alternative health care, but seeing was believing forthem.I just finished reading the book myself, and made a list of all thevitamins/minerals I would need for what ails me.I went to the health foodstore, where the clerk was genuinely surprised that I had all the correctitems listed, along with the correct dosages. This book also gave mesuggestions for other books to read, which I have just ordered. The onlycriticism I have is the title:it seems to have been chosen to"sell" the book.If this book had not been recommended to me, Iwould never have bought it based on its title. The book has so much moreinformation about working with your body and nature to achieve good health. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars For serious cooks only!
The recipes look good-but this book is for serious cooks only. Not only do you have to know what a Dutch oven is, but you have to own one in order to prepare several of the recipes. There are very few recipes that those of us with Pyrex and microwave ovens can adapt to use. It only covers a few antioxidents, also-just the obvious ones. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I was really disappointed in this book.I bought it specifically for the High-Fiber recipes and it fails to tell you how much fiber is in each recipe. It gives fat content, but not fiber content. In the books title it say 150 Nutritious, High-Fiber, Low Fat Recipes, yet doesn't include the fiber content in any of the recipes.I'd like to keep track of my daily fiber intake, but I can't do so using this book.So for my purposes this book is useless. ... Editorial Review

Research supports the contention that vitamin E appears to help prevent heart disease, boost the immune system, slow down Alzheimer's disease, decrease the risk of prostate cancer, keep HIV from developing into full-blown AIDS, and enhance male fertility--and this is just the beginning of the list of benefits, says author Andreas M. Papas. But it isn't enough to pop a multivitamin pill. You need to understand what form of the nutrient is best for you, and how much. Vitamin E is really eight different compounds. Synthetic supplements contain only one (alpha-tocopherol), while the whole "family" is important and can be found only in some natural supplements. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars should be named:the!vitamin e book!
this book is simply the best on this subject!.it discover all the types of vitamin e:the first 4 polimers and the other 4 polimers known as tocotrienols, but the main issue remains the potent d-alphatocopherol.absobtion is very important and it is discovered in detailsincluding ways to improve it.how vitamin e operates in immunity, and inautoimmune diseases such as:cancer, aids, arthritis, and also asthma, andinflamation.there is also a superb outstanding chapter that showing newresearches with a great promise about neurological diseases such as:altzheimer,huntington,parkinson,lou- gehrig's disease, heart diseasecataracts, macular degeneration, and other diseases are discovered andexplain not only the mechanisms of disease, but also how the vitamin e isoperate in those diseases and suggested approximate doses recommandations.diabetes,crohn- disease ,cystic- fibrosis, and many other diseases andillnesses are well explained very simply.as a orthomolecular nutritionistthat do treats those dd (degenerative- diseases)wich actually areortomolecular diseases because they have a vitamin and or mineraldependency because of a bad genes, and or submolecular nutrient\s, i cantell you that the knoledge that represent in this wonderful book is verymuch scientific and it is very valuable. i realy think that this bookconcerning vitamin e is the vitamin e bible!

2-0 out of 5 stars Title caught my attention
The title caught my attention first.I own five or six of Gary Null's books. When I find another of his books that looks good I by it.It reads like a text book, it is very dry.The information is not new.It is a short book, good as a reference unless you are a nutrition nut.Sadly in this book, Gary is rehashing the beans. I'm disappointed when authors do this.A master nutritionist, he could do better.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not up to Gary's standards.
I hope readers of this book won't base their opinion of Gary Null on what they find.I have several of his titles, and am a regular listener and fan of his radio program. This book was my first disappointment.1-0 out of 5 stars very disappointing
I ordered this book hoping to find a state of the art paper on how to "build the immune system with antioxidants". Having heard wonderful things about Gary Null I was confoundly disappointed. The firsttwo thirds of the book is a rehash of nutritional difficulties in theAmerican diet, which almost any gradeschooler could recite to you. Theremaining few pages, actually spent on the antioxidants and their value(s),are very basic. If you know anything at all about basic nutrition, eatfruits veggies and take some supplements, you will find this bookdisappointingly trivial. My recommendation to you is save your money andinvest it in some good antioxidants and/or some orange juice. ... Read more
