2-0 out of 5 stars Provides a strong Christian basis for dream interpretation
This book was published by Pilgrim Press/The United Church Board for Homeland Ministries. As such, it has a pretty strong Christian slant when interpreting the dream symbols, often quoting Biblical scripture to explain its interpretations.4-0 out of 5 stars Very accurate
This is a very helpful dictionary of symbols. Most of the time, I can easily get an interpretation of a dream I had. I highly recommend this book.5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best dream-anaysis books out there
"Dream Dictionary,"while not a large book, is the best one I've found on the subject. Some of the most helpful parts come before and after the section on common symbols and what they may mean. The authors have created a you-personalize-it how-to guide for anyone wishing to figure out what their own dreams mean. 3-0 out of 5 stars Not for novices, and oh my so dry
My area of interest is REM sleep and dreaming and I have read many books and scientific journal articles on the subject. This book is full of statistics and data and is so dry I became dehydrated reading it.It is a good resource for someone who is conducting research on the cognitive aspects of dreams and their content. It is not a good book to get if you are new to the subject. Please read my "So you want to...learn about sleep and dreams" for some great recommendations on the subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars What the study of dreams SHOULD be
For far too long, most books about dreaming have been the realm of TV psychologists, mystics, and charlatans; G. William Domhoff is working to change all of that. This book is an excellent overview of recent breakthroughs and future possibilities in quantitative content analysis and neuroimaging studies. Domhoff also makes a convincing case for abandoning the Freudian and Jungian tenets that strangled dream research for most of the last century -- and he sows the seeds of a new cognitive theory that could guide research in the new millennium. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Truly wisdom from the heart
This is a amazing book. I feel one can tell this author wrote this book from her heart. It reaches through to our own inner wisdom that comes from the heart in the form of our Self (Jungian's term for the unconscious). I appreciate all that she wrote. Her written wisdom has moved me to tears, as well as to write this review. Having read many dream books, I can say I have enjoyed reading a dream book based on women's dreams. Her thoughts on women's dreams reached into my own deep inner wisdom to reveal that 'aha', experience. I highly recommend this book not only for its in depth look into dreams but its revelation and appreciation of women's struggle in a predominately patriarchial society.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Balance of Intellectual and Intuitive Wisdom
This book was not what I expected, and I'm glad.I was looking for something simple to help me figure out a dream I had, and I was prepared to put up with some flakiness. In this book, I found neither simplicity norflakiness. In addition, although the author has a sound intellectualbackground as a psychologist and Jungian analyst, she applies her knowledgein a way that honors the dark, wordless voice of intuition at the sametime.5-0 out of 5 stars Empowerment for women & the Feminine through womens' dreams.
I loved this book.It calls women back to owning their power, to being their own authority, and to living their life on their terms. It calls women to trust themselves and their feelings. It validates womens' feelings and truths. This is the only dream book I've read that puts importance onthe dreamer's feelings about the dream and the dream symbols, not justsymbol interpretation (of which the author has an excellent knowledge).Ithas many examples of womens' dreams that the author walks through whichhelps one learn the art of dream interpretation. Many of the womens'dreams spoke to me personally. I found the archetypal symbols in the dreamspowerful and exciting and they bring to light the connection of all women. The Feminine has been ignored and distorted and devalued for so long - somuch of it has been buried and forgotten, but clearly never gone asevidenced in these dreams.Bringing the truth of women and the Feminineback into the light is best accomplished through the sources who know best- women. Our dreams are an excellent guide in this. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Many a morning begins with "I had the oddest dream," followed closely by a narrative of missed buses, naked performances, killer exams, chase scenes, mystifying sex, malfunctioning cars, and chocolate sauce (though perhaps not all in the same dream). Gayle Delaney's dream interpretation is remarkable because it's more than comprehensive and clear: it's flexible enough to be pertinent to everyone. With guiding questions (How did you feel in the dream? Is something happening in your life that makes you feel the same way?), she helps us understand our symbols, relate our dreams to our own circumstances, and get insight into our lives. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars One-half Cliffs Notes, One-half Quick-Reference
Definitely the most instantly-usable of Gayle Delaney's books I've read, this one largely skips heavy-duty theory and concentrates on quick, practical application.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!Buying my second copy.
This is the most helpful dream interpretation book I've owned to date, and I've wasted lots of money trying out other books. This book is great for beginners, easy to read and understand and may offer a fresh approach to seasoned dream interpreters. I use my copy like a dream dictionary - looking up themes and characteristics of my latest dreams, but it is intended to make you your own dream expert if read from cover to cover. It's approach is to offer you interpretations of many common dream themes. The opinions range from classic interpretation (Freud & Jung) to modern interpretations.Ultimately, the author's goals is to teach the reader the key to dream interpretation - the individual and their feelings.Sample dreams are given in each chapter to illustrate this style of interpretation. Each chapter also ends with a series of questions to ask yourself that help you clarify what's important in your dreams.I have learned skills from reading this book that have unleashed my power to understand my dreams. It really gets you thinking.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dream etymologies

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I was surprised when I read this book. I was expecting for it to solve all of my dream questions/problmes and to interpret them all for me. BOY WAS I WRONG! And that is why I loved this book. Each chapter deals with a different dream "subject" and gives examples of the subject by listing dreams that other people had. It then goes in depth about why you were dreaming about this subject and how to figure out what it means in your life. 4-0 out of 5 stars A good start
When I opened up the book and realized that there was no subject index, I was kind of worried about how useful this was going to be. I mean, when you wake up and remember a certain type of dream, you want to look it up. So, then I just started reading it as a book, and I found it very useful. It talks about why we dream and what dreams do for our bodies and our minds. And it also has specific sections on procrastination dreams or worry dreams or life-changing dreams. The more I read it, the more I like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book to understand your dreams!
I knew Stase when she was in grad school. She is a wonderful, warm spiritual person. She presented a program on dreams for our psychology club and then conducted a one day dream seminar for interested clubmembers.I went to both and really enjoyed them.I learned so much fromher. When her book came out, I bought it and have used it ever since forinterpreting my dreams.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Let your sleeping take the strain out of problem solving
If you need a little help getting problems sorted out personally or professionally, this is a great book to assist you in that endeavour by a simple technique - sleeping on it.Eric Maisel has constructed an easy-to-follow step-by-step method to harness our unconscious in solving what seems in broad daylight to be the unsolvable. He provides several typical case studies including work problems, artist's block and having a problem with a roommate.Writing down and refining the key issues surrounding the problem and keeping a dream journal are recommended.Solutions may not necessarily appear after the first night's sleep on it.The whole process may take a few days or several months. But once you get into the habit of sleep thinking it becomes easier. This technique is very similar to various meditation techniques I have come across, but sleep thinking is a more comprehensive and constructive approach.I believe it also provides more possibilities because you are not continuously consciously focused on the problem you are trying to solve.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is great!
I bought Sleep Thinking, started following the method a couple of weeks ago, and I'm already seeing results. I'm waking up earlier in the morning, and getting work done on a creative writing project that I've been putting off for too long. I'm encouraging all of my friends and colleagues to buy the book and start sleep thinking. The book is well-written, clear and easy to understand, with well-chosen examples that should make it easy for a broad spectrum of people to apply sleep thinking to a broad range of needs, for creative, personal, school, and business enrichment. Do yourself a favor, get this book and start sleep thinking. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Vision Quest in a Book
What I particularly like about this book is the variety of approaches to self discovery it offers.Readers are invited to construct a puzzle from their dreams, daydreams and personal visions to discover the larger messages coming from their unconscious.Joan Mazza always gives the power to her readers, not offering advice as much as inviting them to find their own path. If you're in the mood for a mini vision quest, this is the perfect book to get you started.

5-0 out of 5 stars OUR DREAMING SELF MADE UNDERSTANDABLE
In Dream Back Your Life, Joan follows her Dreaming Your Real Self with yet another journey to our disovery of the restorative processes and the understanding our dreams have for us. Easy to read and comfortable as a close friend, Joan moves us through steps, ideas, and methods for us to take charge of our dreams and learn from their messages.

5-0 out of 5 stars a refreshing approach to dream interpretation
I totally enjoyed this book!I tend to skim self-help books rather than read them completely, but Joan Mazza's style really drew me in.I found many practical examples of how to utilize each concept presented, which for me is very helpful. What really drew me though, was her overall approach."This book is about making friends with your mind" says the author, and that is just the type of approach I find so valuable in letting go of some of the denial/defensiveness we have been raised with that makes it hard to truly look at ourselves. And the nice thing about exploring your dreams is it is totally personal, you re not making yourself vulnerable to others, it is a fascinating journey of self discovery.I recommend this book to anyone who wants more tools for effective self exploration. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Fluffy Bunny Rabbits are Smarter
This book is about the most ridiculous sales hype I have read.I understand that some graphic devices can be useful at specific times and in specific tasks, but this book more or less preaches and preaches that it should be used to bring the galaxy together hand in hand in harmony.
1-0 out of 5 stars Hype and nonsense
This book is wrong about the brain, and is wrong to hype mind mapping into every task in the universe. The left/right brain info is just myth, the 1% brain use stuff is just myth. The newer stuff on multiple intelligences is just rhetoric (he keeps adding intelligences as he goes along, blowing with the wind).
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift for An Open Mind
Mind mapping is a powerful tool. It has helped me in many ways, remembering material for exams, planning for future, preparing for presentation, or more. I do agree with the previous reviewer that most of the material on this book can be found on internet. I have downloaded much info for mind map myself. But which book is so original that you cannot find any piece (concrete of conceptional) of it from internet? Besides, excellently edited/organized color pages, like children's books, are always pleasant, isn't it? Read more

These cards are not designed to tell your future. They are a great tool in helping you understand your dreams and help you make some life desicions based on your dreams, or on your waking life. You can do a 1 card reading, picking a card from random, meditating on it and using the companion cards, the next morning to help you understand your dream.I have had my cards for about 13 years.I love them and I highly recommend them to help you interpret your dreams: )

5-0 out of 5 stars Advanced Dream Interpretation and More
This set is my favorite tool for dream interpretation. I became acquainted with the Dream Cards when my supervisor shared with me that they were being used in a college psychology course on dream interpretation. I bought my own set and taught myself to use them. I learned to read tarot by intuition, and the Dream Cards assisted me with interpreting dreams in the same manner. While symbols are very useful, they are not 100% essential in interpreting your dreams. Colors, images and actions are just as critical and the author's method teaches you to interpret these as well, helping you build the skills necessary to interpret your dreams by intuition. An added benefit is that the cards can be used on their own as a meditation tool for self-guidance and while I haven't used them as such, I'm sure they can even be used as a form of tarot for readings. I've used the cards for about seven years now and have not run across any other method that I would recommend. The price has gone up substantially since I purchasedmine, but they are still one of the best investments you'll ever make.

These cards offer just the kind of open ended interpretations you need to explore the meaning of your dreams. Unlike books that often give interpretations dredged up from the dim past, they offer a unique and open ended Jungian slant.Read more
