5-0 out of 5 stars A Jungian page-turner?You bet...
Having read Nancy Qualls-Corbet's first book, The Sacred Prostitute, I am familiar with the author's passionate research into her subject matter and her ability to make the learning curve an eye opener.Awakening Woman:Dreams and Individuation is a true story in which the analysis process is fascinating. The writing and collaboration of the analyst and the analysan seems flawless to me in how it holds/flows together as one.Nancy, the analyst, takes "Leila's" beautifully honest, courageous journal entries and pointedly symbolic dreams as they arise within the telling of the story and explains to the reader in simple, brief paragraphs the symbolic language of the unconscious and the processing of that rich material.Reader-friendly Jung that keeps you turning page after page as any well-written mystery! The book is a testimony of the truths held otherwise as captive psychological jewels never to be worn until first woven into the ongoing dialogue of the dream plane. Brought into light (consciousness) they become integrated into the living of one's "Me".This book once again lays open the evidence of freedom that comes from Jungian dream therapy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dream Theory and Creativity
I admit it, I'm addicted to creativity books; I also have a strong interest in psychology. However, under most circumstances I favor a somewhat biologically-based approach to psychology, and even when I go for more traditional approaches I usually avoid the heavily symbolic, Freudian/Jungian methods. Let's take dreams, for instance. I roll my eyes at books that tell you "snakes symbolize X; if you dream of Y it means Z" and so on; I think most of them are pretty silly, and are simply taking advantage of our desire to find meaning in everything around us. I much prefer Hobson's work on the madness of dreaming, with its strongly neurological approach.
5-0 out of 5 stars best book on dreams I've read
I'm a fan of dream books and have read most of the ones out there.I loved this book.It shows how to interpret themes that run through your dreams based on research about how your dreams really do relate to your personality. Many dream books are irritating because they are just giving someone's opinion about what dream symbols mean. This book has a lot of exercises in it, and they worked well for me!I bought it for my best friend as a gift, too. He's a writer and found it really useful at helping him find out how and why he's blocked and to get beyond it.Also, she writes with such an evocative and gentle style.Really great book! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Man great book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remembering buying the book, and i brought it home and about 30 pages into the book, it had a plethora of information in it, the relaxation techniques worked, and i swore to god that i almost had an OBE experience, it wasn't scary as i had thought , but since it was my first time i think i lost my concentration, (i skipped a few pages to see that part real quick) But it is definantly worth the money, hell it's worth it's weight in GOLD,SILVER,COPPER, and anything valuable to the equation, in laymen's terms JUST BUY THE BOOK!

5-0 out of 5 stars I now want to remember my dreams
At first I was scared, but Craig's book made me relize that there is nothing to be scared of. He showed me how to look at my dreams from another perspective. To ask what does this dream teach me. He teaches ways to help, like how to use the ink blots and he gives examples. The imaginary friend method and we must not forget the drink water before you go to bed method. I never knew that it could be this fun or this easy. It used to scare me. Now, I look forward to dreaming and remembering my dreams. I am so amazed when I look back on my dream diary...the things that I have drempt, and what they now mean to me. I have learned much from this book, and if I can, you can. I am looking forward to buying and learning from his other books too! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Much deeper than Freud
Fascinating book. The world of dreams and how they relate to Archetypes and Collective Unconsciousness goes much deeper than Freud's ideas of personal unconsciousness, repression, and sexual instinct as the main hallmark of psychiatric problems. Jung and the author's explanations about the Primordality of Self and the beauty as well as complexity of archaic ancestoral influence on our dreams make quite sense and seems to coincide with evolutionary perspective of behavior, including dreaming. I was going thus to rate the book with five stars until I read the last two chapters of the book. There, the author, becomes adventurous and somewhat careless and attempts to generalize his theories beyond what is known. He gets somewhat grandiose and thinks that he can now solve the problems of the modern humanity and the Earth. This sometimes happen to authors or theoreticians who are overtaken by their views. Overall, a book well woth reading.

It's good for a quick reference. If you're looking for indepth meanings, I do not suggest this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Lot of Info Concentrated Into a Little Book
I loved this book from the moment I read the first paragraph. Klaus Vollmar shares my approach to dream interpretation - that the symbols carry more than one meaning, and frequently a variety of symbols can have similar meanings. Dreams should not be interpreted intellectually. They should be interpreted intuitively as the dreamer perceives them, not as the books and shrinks say. The true interpretation can really only be understood by the dreamer. I agree with him 100 percent. I feel so strongly about this that I don't even take specific questions when I do tarot and rune readings and receive very positive feedback.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dictionary for Dreamers by Chetwynd, Tom
This order was not received because the order was never completed as owner said it could not be found.

5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable Aid
Dreams are not produced by MGM nor by the authors of "dream books." I have used this book, not as an exclusive tool, but as a prod or a cue book to help me associate a possible meaning that may jog my memory. This book is invaluable, and I continue to use it even if every answer is not there. For more possibilities I turn to Strephon Kaplan-Williams to look at his "Dream Cards," or to a dictionary of symbols. Use whatever is necessary, but remember, it is your dream and only you know the answer. Don't give in to some fortune teller's dream books. Throw them away.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Dreambook Actually Uses Psychoanalytic Methods.
I am usually quite skeptical when a writer offers a way to unravel themeaning of a dream. What makes this author's approach different is he shunsthe obvious superstitions and blends the theories of Freud, Jung, Adler,Stekel, Gutheil, and many others. Why no one thought of this before is amystery to me, but I do notice this book comes from England, a nation knownfor taking fuzzy European ideas and transforming them into the sobriety ofscience. Chetwynd explains each aspect of a dream with a simple definition;but there is still enough information given to convince us that his sourcewas a clinical theory rather than some fortune teller's unchallenged guess. The sources are useful in case we need to sort out the matter in moreelaborate detail than was the goal of this quick reference guide. I greatlyappreciate that compromise, because even with the insights possible thissubject is going to remain speculative. As I haven't had much faith orcontact with psychiatrists, sociologists, or their books, this is betterthan nothing. Additionally, this little book has an especially appealingshape and size. That encourages the reader to keep it at bedside - or takeit along to work when some particularly intriguing dream lingers from thenight. This practice appeals to the artistic potential within all of us,especially those who open their minds to the possibility that dreams andreality are connected. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A way of life
Well, I can tell you either this book will change your life or it won't. It changed the course of the rest of my life.Either you are connected to the dream weave or you aren't. For myself, and others, I can only say, thank God for Connie and the dream circle for leading the way.We all dream, we are all connected. Some of us choose this particular path as our spiritual destiny. You will know if you are one of us.Do the work and it will change your life. If you think you are a spiritual dreamer, this book is a good place to start.

3-0 out of 5 stars Some useful suggestions
I like this book, inspite of a number of shortcomings. It's a nicely presented edition from Beyond Words Publishing. The idea of creating a dream database for correlating lunar transits and days of the month with dreams is helpful, and the suggestion that we should recapitulate the events of the day before going to sleep each night is also very useful. I liked the idea of mapping the dream phases and establishing a dream circle of friends in which to share dreams. (The dream chart is the same idea as the menstrual mandala in "Alchemy for Women: Personal Transformation through dreams and the female cycle" by Shuttle and Redgrove, 1995, with the addition of lunar transits.) As an interesting aside, this author leads dreaming circles through lindagoodman.net's academy, with the most recent on being entitled "dreaming on the vernal equinox 2001." 5-0 out of 5 stars Try it...see if you like it...
This book has been my dosage of cleansing wine for a veryextended period of time. It has helped me relax for a while, you'll see when you listen to her style...she has allowed us to visit the dream world on earth for a while...she has showed me how my dreams are not as far off as they often times deceived me to believe. She has connected the images in my head to the life I have lead, as well as the water I still have to tread. Furthermore, I no longer dread, because infinite answers are entering through my head, at night while I am in my bed. Through her words she has taken us readers and dreamers all in one swoop a step deeper into the crack of light and clear, through her wisdom. By the same token she relieves us from our fear. Through her metaphors she has illustrated the routes that lead to the destinations of my dreams arrow. Her organization has simplified and sensualized the contact between the two points of view. She has created something of efficiency. The only practical tools you'll ever need or phene. Her words breath an air of confidentiality, yet she is sharing with me and the world effortlessly the air that she herself breeds. Through the publishing of her thoughts, I have a private tutor bought. It's exactly what you and I have sought. I am glad that I have her knowledge caught, saw the battles she faught and learned the lessons she was taught. She has persuaded me to use my dreams as a prediction of the day, or as reflections of the past or future plans and plays. She deserves an "A" for accuracy, for the effective portrayal of a world that seemed so indistinct and far away. The product itself,of her thoughts reformed into diction have fed me, and in that she has helped me. She has the ability to disect phenomena, down into realistic pieces, easy enough to digest and process, yet strong enough to keep you on the constant watch. She has afforded me insight on how to have one of the most intimate experiences of each day of life. Now when I wake up, there's an evolution of solutions on how to travel to the land free of dispute. She has showed me how to commute from one set of rules to a new set of clues on how to live with few. She has guided me to my landing, and now I can step off and be a solely traveling man...well wo-man...she has definetly brought back to my life zeal and appeal, not that what I had before wasn't real, she just showed me how to feel. Connie clarified me on how to find delight in my strife. Dreams are in the palms of our hands, and I'm not about to leave them to be shy, because now I know why...why this information is right by our side. After reading this book, it is impossible to lie about the truth we will through dreams and life find while intertwined. So let your dreams unwind...but first this book you must grind. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Who's the idiot?
You don't have to be much above an idiot to see the bias contained in the book, which is inappropriate for a subject as abstract as dreaming. I was looking for a book on the basics; not a book on subtly disguised polemics, couched in terms and examples that are stringently politically correct. Enough already with marketing Jimmy Carter as a sympathetic, capable hero-type! This work had more the flavor of a feminiest manifesto than a fundamental treatise on the subconscious.

4-0 out of 5 stars Informative but not very deep
This book explains many points of view on interpreting dreams, but only gives the big picture, not getting into too much detail. It's a great introduction to the subject, but not for use afterward on a daily basis. Also disappointing, it does not contain a dictionary of symbols and/or typical sightings in dreams. I guess they expect you to buy one. In that case, it should not be called "Complete" ... there are many more books I'd rather have on hand for reference.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Fun Read!
I've read a lot on dreams. This book is by far the most comprehensive and easy to read. It's not goofy or too wedded to any one way of looking at dreams. The writing is really lively and humerous. And there is a lot of well-researched information, especially on the science of sleep.I'd say:buy this one! ... Read more
