Codependent Forevermore:The Invention of Self in a Twelve St
I was ultimately dissappointed with this book. Although scholarly & objective Ms. Ervine never got to the meat of 12 step programs.She gathered her information & conclusions by sitting in meetings and interviewing members within the group. I found this a little disconcerting but at the sime time ironic. I don't understand whyCoDA members would tolerate such a violation of the traditions & inherent breech of trust (these people may need boundries).She attempts to describe the twelve step phenomena without ever addressing the life changing process of working the steps that is the heart of these programs.People come and go in twelve step programs but little happens unless they actually do the work. I thought Ms. Ervine did an admirable job of remaining objective and was very diciplined in drawing conclusions but would be much more interested in her impressions if she had actually worked the steps. In retrospect she might have chosen different individuals to interview.Very scholarly but not very satisfying or insightful for me.

Didn't really like it
I reread this book to see, why I didn't like it much, it didn't take me long to find out. The author seems to think it's wrong if women want to practice celibacy or try to remain a virgin until marriage. She doesn't think that's something to be proud of. Now my problem with that is if young girls that are planning on trying to wait until marriage read this book might think that's something to be ashamed of, or they want be able to please their spouse if they have not been practicing. I think more open minded people, probably enjoyed the book more so than myself.

Very informative.
Max Elliott's book is a must.For those of us who have not found our true self, this book will help uncover what is buried or lying dormant.It shades light on darkness.Some of the references may seem a little toomuch or farfetched for some, but there is certainly a little something forevery female.The book is to share.Don't just read the book, but makeyour friends and co-workers aware of it also.It is an enlightment. ... A must if you have money problems.
As a psychologist, I suggest this book for anyone who has recurrent moneyproblems. It asks the right questions and helps you find some helpfulanswers to get this aspect of your life in order. Excellent
I found this book to be excellent as far as dealing with debt and money problems. Yvonne Kaye is a counselor who happens to live in my local area and gives many seminars.She writes like someone who knows what they are talking about on the subject because she does know, she was a person who self-describes herself as a person who was in debt, addicted to the spending/debt habit and was co-dependent in it. Yvonne Kaye is direct.She also points out that just because you're rich doesn't mean you don't have money problems!She is also lighthearted and has a sense of humor about all of it. Excellent primer for therapy
My therapist recommended we use this book to enhance my counseling sessions. Fantastic Self-Help Book
I first read Co-Dependency: Powerloss Soulloss six years ago.At the time I thought it wouldn't apply to me, I was "done" with all that stuff.Was I surprised!This book has been invaluable to me in continuing to build a stronger self.In the intervening years, I have reread Co-Dependency a number of times, and have never failed to discover something new.I have also given it to a number of friends who have found it as wonderful and helpful as I have.

A Meditation Work Book
Usually a self-help book is either an aid to meditation or a workbook. CODEPENDENCY:PowerLoss SoulLoss by Dorothy May is both.Pages on theright side of the text seem basically explanational on first reading. Deceptively simple.However, I returned to them again and again as Iengaged myself with the exercises on the left side of the text.These areguides to writing or drawing ramifications of the ideas in the reader's ownlife.Thus, the book incorporates a journal."What an ingeniussystem!" I found myself thinking;The explanation circles around frommy logical, reasoning brain into the intuitive part of me that explores myown psyche and then back to the explanation for a deeper understanding.Read more
