5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for anyone trying to lose weight!!
I lost over 30 pounds through the timely, sensible, and realistic advice from this book! I love the Minirth-Meijer workbooks and this one is highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Changed My Life
The Love Hunger Weight-Loss Workbook has literally changed my life. The workbook forced me to look into the issues behind Why I eat rather than What I eat. This book is an excellent tool for anyone looking to make permanent changes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone
Read the workbook and found that although I'm sure that it is useful for others you really have to be of a christian faith to use this workbook. It does have many ideas and suggestions in terms of weight controll but I feltit emphasized to much on "God" and "problems with yourfamily of orgin" and not enough on making us realized that we are incontroll and we are responsible for our weight not anyone else.I wouldalthough recommend it to someone whose had a horrible childhood. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tton of information
Almost an overwhelming amount of information, It would have been a good idea to have put the info into sections of different types of info or at least have an index. Ther than that it is a very informative book, you just have to really hunt for the info you are really after.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good foundation to successful searching
This book provides time saving reference. The book is set up so anyone can be more efficient with searching. In the back of the book you have the option of checking out the author's site. It has free search tools. In my last job I ran a professional repo. office. This guide was a good tool in finding those little bits of information that you can miss sometimes by using the professional searches. Just a tip, think out of the box when "skipping" someone. You need to be patient but also know when to put it down and pick it up later.

5-0 out of 5 stars best of it's kind
In my opinion, this is the best book ever written on this subject.Geneen Roth's personal struggle with compulsive eating is heartfelt. The other personal stories are very helpful also. She covers so many areas that at first glance you would not consider to be tied in with compulsive eating.I read this book when it first came out and lost weight easily. After my last pregnancy, I again began to struggle with my weight.I used Weight Watchers to get most of it off, but then hit a plateau. It was then that I discovered that I was still eating compulsively, only I was eating healthier foods.I am now back with Geneen's books and feel like I'm back on the wagon. This book makes you reflect on all the issues you have experienced with your weight. She does it empathetically, but also with a touch of humor.I hope this book will touch others the way it has touched me.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GODSEND
When I finally faced the horrible reality that I suffered from compulsive binge eating, and went to a psychiatrist who specialized in teenage eating disorders, the first thing she had me do was read this book.Thank God for her advice.I know now the hundreds of diet books I had read before were such garbage- and that they contributed to my eating disorder by telling me what I could and couldnt eat-and when-to the point that I was never eating what I really wanted, and when I did, I felt so guilty that I just shoved food as fast as I could in my mouth, figuring I would "start fresh" the next day. This cycle of binge eating and restrictive dieting is what geenen roth helps you overcome in this book, by giving the sound advice that if you eat only when actually hungry ( and if you were like me and didnt know when that was anymore, she tells you how to work towards knowing) and stop when you are full, and eat foods you actually enjoy, that you will control your weight in a non-obsessive way.I have spent so much money on so many ridiculous diet books that I know look back on with regret, but this book is one I will always treasure for helping me get through a truly awful period and finally helping me to see the light and shed myself of a terrible habit once and for all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
This book is good for the compulsive eater. However, there seemed to be just a little emotional detachment, making it slightly harder to pull someone into it. Granted, a compulsive eater may have a hard time with ANY book of this type, but there was just a little missing. Still, this is one of the best books on this subject, so this book should definitely be read for that reason. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
A book that teaches the average man about the perils of Viagra and how these can be avoided by using only natural methods. The book explains why Viagra is dangerous to some people and offers a natural and clean alternative for a healthy erection and sex life. A good book but with gaps in structure, i found out that "Volume II - Natural Penis Enlargement: New methods of avoiding and curing impotence, premature ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction safely and inexpensively. ... Book on CD-Rom for PC & Mac Computers" by Platinum Millennium has much more information about sexual disorders and is structured with greater detail than this one

1-0 out of 5 stars Too holistic with recommendations for dangerous herbs!
When a man pays $300 for a consultation with me, I want to be 100% sure that leaving my office his problem will be solved. Dr. Bonnard discusses almost every single way out there which MAY help in one or another way to improve your overall health. However, his approach is too general and he is only scratching on the surface of each topic such as acupuncture, homeopathy, aromatherapy, etc. As a medical doctor, I believe and use only proven and used in the entire world ways to treat erectile dysfunction. Aromatherapy or any other holistic discipline may have some beneficial effect on one's health but this is NOT proven by the medicine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Off the Diet Track for Good
This book is an answer for all the chronic dieters out there. I have been a diet queen for 20 years. This book will help get to the bottom of why you're on that track and how to get off it. How to trust your own body to tell you what you need to eat and when. There are ideas that helped me combat the mental talk that's been going on all my life keeping me on the yo yo diet. It is such an amazing concept to find that you can listen to your body and just start losing weight naturally. The weight comes off more slowly, but that is because you stop starving yourself and feel comfortable all the time. It's a better way to go since you no longer end up on the other side of the diet where you end up binging because you've been starving. So, in the long run you lose the weight for good. I feel like I've been set free to enjoy life and not worrying about calories or fat or carbs. That's not easy to do after all the different diets I've been on. It's worth the extra effort to lose the weight comfortably and naturally. I highly recommend this book to any one who has tried to lose weight by going on a diet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get at peace with yourself---and the pounds will adjust!
Dr. Dorie brings a lot of personal experience, drive and enthusiasm in her approach to diet and health concerns.
4-0 out of 5 stars Has some good advise if you can get past the touchy-feely
This book gave a lot of godo advise. As someone who is and has struggled with a ED (both bulimia and anorexia), this book started to get me to look past my ED and ask myself why? However, I felt like some of the messages were a little too touchy feely for me. Especially the way she asked a question to ask yourself at the end of each section. It got a little too twelve step-like... which wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Still I recommend this book over the similarly fashioned book "When you eat at the refridgerator, pull up a chair" that one wasn't bad... but this one is better. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars inspirational
this book presents many stories of men who were badly out of shape that were able to overcome obstacles to become fit and trim. Any man who wants to get into shape can derive great inspiration from these strong men who did it themselves.

4-0 out of 5 stars Inspirational and instructive
The real value of this book is not so much the workout and diet program, but the success stories of several men who range in age from their early 20s to 40s and have lost a considerable amount of weight. What is unique about the book is that none of the men featured in it have followed the program in the book. This does work, however, because the message I got from those stories is that we can't just rely on this workout or that diet to lose weight and get in shape. Ultimately, we all have to figure out what makes sense to us and what works for us and fit it into our own lifestyle. There are some common threads that run through each success story and if you focus on those things, you can succeed no matter what approach you end up taking.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Lose your Love Handles
Mr. Shilstone became famous for training atheletes and in particular helping them GAIN weight. While the diet and exercise portions of the book are very sensible and there is a lot of good information on heart disease, this book will not help you lose body fat in any reasonable amount of time. One of his "sucess" stories has a man losing 5lbs and 3% body fat in four months! He should hit the healthy range in about 5 years. The lack of resistance training is the main weakness. I suggest "The Nautalis Diet" or "Fit or Fat" if you are serious about your health and weight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple Straight forward and down to Earth!!!
This is an excellent book if you have are overweight, have not exercised in a long time, and are looking to lose body fat.I can definitely believe the before and after pictures of those participants who followed this program.Unlike those pictures shown in Bill Phillips Body For Life Book, these pictures do not look doctored.Although he has certain core exercises for toning that you must engage in, I believe that you can substitute pilates and get the same effect. As for walking 45 minutes a day at a moderate intensity 6 days a week, walking is one of the easiest things to do, so you would have no excuses.I think that you can maximize the benefits of this program, my including some resistance training. The recommended eating plan, which focuses on eating low glycemic carbohydrates is excellent.Despite allowing myself a "cheat day" once a week, where I eat whatever I want, I have noticed a 4 pound loss in weight and 1 percent reduction in body fat in one month by adhering to the recommended nutrition plan 6 days a week. While this may not sound like a lot, I am willing to bet that I have probably retained more lean muscle mass than some who has lost significant weight in one month, following another program. If you lose weight too quickly and sacrafice muscle in the process, you will only gain more weight and fat over the long run and it will become increasingly difficult to loose fat because you will have drastically slowed down your metabolism. The really good thing about this book is that the program is not so strict that you would likely be inclined to give up after one to two weeks.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love loosing weight!

5-0 out of 5 stars Weekend athlete
I received this book as a Christmas gift from my daughter.I was skeptical at first that Pilates could help out a weekend softball player like myself. As a new years resolution I work out 3 times per week at home. Through the first 3 weeks of the year I have lost 10lbs via working out with IM=X and a new diet. It's a great workout and I don't have to worry about injuring my arm lifting heavy weights at the gym. Thanks to McNergney for this wonderful program.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Golf
On the recommendation of my personal trainer, I started learning IM=X Pilates to improve my golf game.Through regular IM=X Pilates workouts I have been able to improve my core strenght an increase my drives by about 30 feet.

I highly recommend this book to any men out there who are looking to get in shape.Traditional Pilates was created for dancers as a rehabilitation program (which is not the general male population).

2-0 out of 5 stars Definitely not for sufferers
I got this book without reading the subtitle (Strategies for Family and Friends).I thought it might help me with Binge-Eating problems. It didn't.In fact, I got very bored. It was sickeningly boring and only discussed how to handle things if you weren't really all that involved.4-0 out of 5 stars written specifically for family and friends
This is a good book designed for the friends and family of eating disorder sufferers. Before I gave this book to my familiy, I read it myself.I liked that the authors suggested therapy/counseling for friends and family, who can sometimes feel helpless watching their loved one suffer with an eating disorder. There was also a lot of focus on parents. That's good for many, but my family is not a problem in my case. When I gave this book to my family, I told them to ignore that chapter since it did not pertain to us.The information provided within the book helped my family understand what I'm going through, and for that I am thankful.I didn't know how to get the words out to explain the eating disorder. This book helped me tell my family of my disorder.

5-0 out of 5 stars A powerful book with outstanding perspective
The quality and truth of this book shocked me. It talked of experiences in the exact way that I myself would explain them, except with a professional yet warm perspective. I could not put it down from the moment I started it. I would recommend this book to people going through such trauma as well as people looking for inspirational and enlightening reading material. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ignorance is bliss, but knowledge is power.
Yes this book makes us confront our own rationilaztions and justifactions for not engaging in safe sex, or engaging in promiscious sex with strangers. The facts are facts, regardless of what you want to believe, and Dr. Goldstone lays all the cards on the table and lets y ou make the decisions from there. He is a gay doctor, so these same issues which he talks about are physical conditions that he himself has to avoid inh is own personal life. I bought this book for my own edification and plan on donating it to my Universitiy's GLBT student services library so others can have insight into the heatlth risks associated with gay sex. The book made me take my own sexual practices into perspective, both past and future, and allowed me to make more intellgient decisions on how to proceed. He make sit very clear that HIV/AIDS is not the only STD out there that can have a very damaging effect, and he also discusses many other health issues and illnesses that can affect men. He also discusses sex, and how to use lubricants and condoms and how to position yourself for penetration, so this is a great device for the inexperienced young men trying their sexuality out for the first time. Dr. Goldstone is 100% pro gay, he is gay himself, but that does not mean we can deny the truth of our biological bodies and the physical conditions that can come upon them. Read this book with a grain of salt, and use it to better protect yourself, thats what it's intention is for. He also adds vignettes to the chapters previous to you reading them to give you a perspective of where he is coming from, and also has a great sense of humor, although it is a bit corny. I wish more MDs would realize we need some humor in order to rest our minds during a physical examination. He also makes it very clear that you should be completely upfront with your physician about being gay and the sexual acts you perform, otherwise most straight physicians in particular could easily over look your symptoms as being something else entirely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent lessons!!
As a recently out of the closet person I was full of questions and doubts about gay sex. This book truly gave me all the answers I needed. This society is so concerned with AIDS that we forget about other sexually transmitted deseases. This book not only provides illustrations of all posible deseases out there but it also provides valuable information as to how to spot these ailments, their symptons and posible cures and treatments.I truly feel more prepare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and fun
All things considered, I expected this to be a somewhat dull read, a little too technical because it was penned by an MD.I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only is this book very informative and up to date, but it's written in a hugely entertaining and, yes, erotic, style.Sex manuals are very helpful when you have a date, but sometimes they can also be good company on those lonely nights when you don't have a man. This book is one of the best gay sex manauls available. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good
This is a book that tries to view erectile disorders though the eye of an eminent scientist dr Deborah Kathryn Hargis who agreed to share her experience with erectile disorder men with all the world. Detailed descriptions of her relationships litter this book, but the interesting part of the book is limited. If you want a book about sexual disorders and erectile dysfunctions that won't disappoint you look for "Natural Penis Enlargement: New Methods of Avoiding and Curing Impotence, Premature Ejaculation, and Erectile Dysfunction Safely and Inexpensively. New ... No Pumps, No Pills and No Gadgets! Vol. 2" by Platinum Millennium, the best book on ED available

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
I thought this would be a helpful book about the challenges of ED from the female point-of-view, which would reassure women and offer concrete suggestions about how to work through this difficult issue with a husband or partner.Instead, it is a poorly-written (i.e., run-on sentences, incorrect grammar and repetitive and superfluous information) recounting of the author's experiences with several men with ED issues. And the ED issues were rather small portions of each chapter! The author spent the rest of the time recounting ad nauseum the many times these men complimented her intellect and beauty and providing detailed descriptions of their expensive homes and decorating taste. It began to read like little more than a valentine to herself. If you bother to get this book at all, skip the main portion of the book and go right to the Epilogue, which contains 18 summary points about ED.That is where what little "meat" there is in this book is contained (no pun intended).

5-0 out of 5 stars A informative collection of illustrative "case studies"
"Your Legs Are Too Long": Getting Beyond Excuses For Erectile Dysfunction by psychologist Deborah Kathryn Hargis is a informative collection of illustrative "case studies" concerning the condition of male erectile dysfunction. Offering a realistic look at the medical, psychological, and marital issues of this condition which has an influence upon millions of men and women, "Your Legs Are To Long" offers both age-old and contemporary viewpoints on what is 90% of the time caused primarily by physical problems which can often be successfully treated by a physician. Indeed, the major problem is that the seeking of such medical assistance does not come easily to many afflicted men. "Your Legs Are Too Long" is very highly recommended to any non-specialist general reader having to deal with the problems arising from a condition of erectile dysfunction. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've read...
This book was amazing.Though short, it accurately describes what life with an eating disorder is like.I got to the end of the book and started to read it again immediately.I just couldn't get enough. The author's poetry was astounding.I felt like I was right there with her, feeling her pain. This book is a must read! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not Much Beyond the Title
The book has good intentions but it leaves you wanting more.A decent book that glosses over male topics but never really gives you the details that I have come to expect from other books.

2-0 out of 5 stars Form vs Content
A great looking book, which however fails to follow through by providing equally good content.Too often specifics are passed over in favour of vague generalities.
