5-0 out of 5 stars Weekend athlete
I received this book as a Christmas gift from my daughter.I was skeptical at first that Pilates could help out a weekend softball player like myself. As a new years resolution I work out 3 times per week at home. Through the first 3 weeks of the year I have lost 10lbs via working out with IM=X and a new diet. It's a great workout and I don't have to worry about injuring my arm lifting heavy weights at the gym. Thanks to McNergney for this wonderful program.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Golf
On the recommendation of my personal trainer, I started learning IM=X Pilates to improve my golf game.Through regular IM=X Pilates workouts I have been able to improve my core strenght an increase my drives by about 30 feet.
5-0 out of 5 stars Pilates for Men
I highly recommend this book to any men out there who are looking to get in shape.Traditional Pilates was created for dancers as a rehabilitation program (which is not the general male population).

2-0 out of 5 stars Definitely not for sufferers
I got this book without reading the subtitle (Strategies for Family and Friends).I thought it might help me with Binge-Eating problems. It didn't.In fact, I got very bored. It was sickeningly boring and only discussed how to handle things if you weren't really all that involved.4-0 out of 5 stars written specifically for family and friends
This is a good book designed for the friends and family of eating disorder sufferers. Before I gave this book to my familiy, I read it myself.I liked that the authors suggested therapy/counseling for friends and family, who can sometimes feel helpless watching their loved one suffer with an eating disorder. There was also a lot of focus on parents. That's good for many, but my family is not a problem in my case. When I gave this book to my family, I told them to ignore that chapter since it did not pertain to us.The information provided within the book helped my family understand what I'm going through, and for that I am thankful.I didn't know how to get the words out to explain the eating disorder. This book helped me tell my family of my disorder.

5-0 out of 5 stars A powerful book with outstanding perspective
The quality and truth of this book shocked me. It talked of experiences in the exact way that I myself would explain them, except with a professional yet warm perspective. I could not put it down from the moment I started it. I would recommend this book to people going through such trauma as well as people looking for inspirational and enlightening reading material. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I expected it to be...
The first half of this book is great for someone interested in learning what to expect before getting pregnant. It's easy to read and extremely informative.I enjoyed that part of it very much.Howevere, once you reach the center of the book the entire rest of the book is about infertility and ways you can get pregnant if either you or your spouse are found to have problems.I'm sure this book would become very helpful if that were to happen, but considering that I haven't even started trying to get pregnant...that part of the book did not interest me at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE BOOK!!
Wow! What an extensive, down to earth book EVERYTHING getting pregnant! This author really knows the topic inside and out, and presents it to the reader in a very understandable format. I've only had it for a week, and couldn't put it down. If you are ever considering having a baby, read this first and find out what to do to get your body ready, and to know your body's signals. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good introductory book
This is a perfectly good book, but I found Dr. Silber's "How to Get Pregnant" and Dr. Potter's "What to Do When You Can't Get Pregnant" to be much more informative. Dr. Silber's book is especially good if you are science-oriented and want to understand the chemical aspects of both natural and assisted conception (it has excellent graphs and diagrams). Dr. Marr's book may be better used as a "starter" book when you're first diagnosed with infertility, as it is more of an overview than the other two. Check them out at the library before you buy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Past Patient enjoys a look back
I am a surrogate mother that worked with Dr. Marrs from July of '04 to July of '05.I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him, his staff and his practice.I wanted to take a look back at all of our procedures and get a better understanding of all we went through.I feel privileged to have a copy of his book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Guide to anyone working through infertility

5-0 out of 5 stars Ignorance is bliss, but knowledge is power.
Yes this book makes us confront our own rationilaztions and justifactions for not engaging in safe sex, or engaging in promiscious sex with strangers. The facts are facts, regardless of what you want to believe, and Dr. Goldstone lays all the cards on the table and lets y ou make the decisions from there. He is a gay doctor, so these same issues which he talks about are physical conditions that he himself has to avoid inh is own personal life. I bought this book for my own edification and plan on donating it to my Universitiy's GLBT student services library so others can have insight into the heatlth risks associated with gay sex. The book made me take my own sexual practices into perspective, both past and future, and allowed me to make more intellgient decisions on how to proceed. He make sit very clear that HIV/AIDS is not the only STD out there that can have a very damaging effect, and he also discusses many other health issues and illnesses that can affect men. He also discusses sex, and how to use lubricants and condoms and how to position yourself for penetration, so this is a great device for the inexperienced young men trying their sexuality out for the first time. Dr. Goldstone is 100% pro gay, he is gay himself, but that does not mean we can deny the truth of our biological bodies and the physical conditions that can come upon them. Read this book with a grain of salt, and use it to better protect yourself, thats what it's intention is for. He also adds vignettes to the chapters previous to you reading them to give you a perspective of where he is coming from, and also has a great sense of humor, although it is a bit corny. I wish more MDs would realize we need some humor in order to rest our minds during a physical examination. He also makes it very clear that you should be completely upfront with your physician about being gay and the sexual acts you perform, otherwise most straight physicians in particular could easily over look your symptoms as being something else entirely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent lessons!!
As a recently out of the closet person I was full of questions and doubts about gay sex. This book truly gave me all the answers I needed. This society is so concerned with AIDS that we forget about other sexually transmitted deseases. This book not only provides illustrations of all posible deseases out there but it also provides valuable information as to how to spot these ailments, their symptons and posible cures and treatments.I truly feel more prepare.

5-0 out of 5 stars Informative and fun
All things considered, I expected this to be a somewhat dull read, a little too technical because it was penned by an MD.I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only is this book very informative and up to date, but it's written in a hugely entertaining and, yes, erotic, style.Sex manuals are very helpful when you have a date, but sometimes they can also be good company on those lonely nights when you don't have a man. This book is one of the best gay sex manauls available. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Heads
This book is one of my favorites. It is a book full of photographs of human heads, with no hair or makeup. I could look at this book for hours! You will never tire of looking at them. Heads are always disguised in public under elaboratley fussed-with hair and a bunch of makeup. This book is oddly satisfying by showing simply a natural human head. They are very beautiful.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must read
I have read many books on infertility and this one is a definite must have.Every chapter touches on exactly what I have been through, or am experiencing right now. It's great to have a Christian outlook, and reflection questions at the end of each chapter. A+++

5-0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE
I would highly recommend this book for anyone going through or who has just gone through infertility treatment. It helps you understand the grief process and confirms that your feelings while going through the infertility journey are real. The chapters are 1. Denial/Shock, 2. Desperation/Panic, 3. Anger/Resentment, 4. Sadness/Depression, 5. Inadequacy/Guilt, 6. Hope/Peace, 7. Reconciliation/Integration, 8. Does Time Heal All Wounds?, 9. Relationship, Reconciliation, and Restoration, 10. Renewing Your Mind, 11. Refuge in the Rock.It is really a MUST HAVE.

5-0 out of 5 stars what a great resource:water from the rock
This book puts feelings and emotions (which are rarely discussed in society) into words to help couples dealing with infertility. The authors define stages of grief dealing with infertility and give ways to handle these stages in a positive way.It has been a great tool for me as I seek to sensitively deal with friends struggling with this issue. The book steers clear of medical and technical issues and addresses handling emotions (anger, grief) in a Godly way.I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with infertility and for anyone who knows someone who is.It would be a great small group tool also. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good
This is a book that tries to view erectile disorders though the eye of an eminent scientist dr Deborah Kathryn Hargis who agreed to share her experience with erectile disorder men with all the world. Detailed descriptions of her relationships litter this book, but the interesting part of the book is limited. If you want a book about sexual disorders and erectile dysfunctions that won't disappoint you look for "Natural Penis Enlargement: New Methods of Avoiding and Curing Impotence, Premature Ejaculation, and Erectile Dysfunction Safely and Inexpensively. New ... No Pumps, No Pills and No Gadgets! Vol. 2" by Platinum Millennium, the best book on ED available

1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
I thought this would be a helpful book about the challenges of ED from the female point-of-view, which would reassure women and offer concrete suggestions about how to work through this difficult issue with a husband or partner.Instead, it is a poorly-written (i.e., run-on sentences, incorrect grammar and repetitive and superfluous information) recounting of the author's experiences with several men with ED issues. And the ED issues were rather small portions of each chapter! The author spent the rest of the time recounting ad nauseum the many times these men complimented her intellect and beauty and providing detailed descriptions of their expensive homes and decorating taste. It began to read like little more than a valentine to herself. If you bother to get this book at all, skip the main portion of the book and go right to the Epilogue, which contains 18 summary points about ED.That is where what little "meat" there is in this book is contained (no pun intended).

5-0 out of 5 stars A informative collection of illustrative "case studies"
"Your Legs Are Too Long": Getting Beyond Excuses For Erectile Dysfunction by psychologist Deborah Kathryn Hargis is a informative collection of illustrative "case studies" concerning the condition of male erectile dysfunction. Offering a realistic look at the medical, psychological, and marital issues of this condition which has an influence upon millions of men and women, "Your Legs Are To Long" offers both age-old and contemporary viewpoints on what is 90% of the time caused primarily by physical problems which can often be successfully treated by a physician. Indeed, the major problem is that the seeking of such medical assistance does not come easily to many afflicted men. "Your Legs Are Too Long" is very highly recommended to any non-specialist general reader having to deal with the problems arising from a condition of erectile dysfunction. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unsung Lullabies: Understanding and Coping with Infertility
I can't say enough good things about this book. For several years,I have had problems mourning and moving past my infertility. This book helped me finally move on from the hurt and disappointment because it helped me realize that lots of other people feel the same pain and anger when they struggle with infertility. It made me realize that I am NORMAL and infertility is a devastating thing that should not be taken lightly. I feel so much better having read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have. . .
Out of all the fertility "help" books, this was our favorite. Not only was it informative but it helped us to feel 'normal' amidst a trying process. In fact we loved this book so much that we bought one for each of our parents. It's another tool to help educate them about the trauma we've experienced for over three years.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a simply wonderful book!
What can I say, having lived and struggled and finally come to terms with infertility; this book is flat out wonderful.I only wish it had been available 15 years ago! With incredible sensitivity, insight, and compassion Diamond/Diamond and Jaffe have created a reference work for both the lay public and professionals whose life work or lives cope and live with reproductive problems and their consequences.Unsung Lullabies is also a moving and illuminating "read" for those of us who are blessed with children, be they of our own making or adopted; fostered or cared for. Get it, read it, and grow; for it will open your eyes to parenting on a whole new level. Our world needs more inspiration like this.Bravo to the Diamonds and Jaffe for a terrific first book. ... The book has good intentions but it leaves you wanting more.A decent book that glosses over male topics but never really gives you the details that I have come to expect from other books.

The first easy-to-read and to understandbook on men's health. A woman could pick up a tip ot two as well. The best word-to-the-wise advice book around.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book you can turn to in sickness or in health.
You'd never expect a book titled "The Man's HealthSourcebook" to be entertaining, but surprisingly it is. 5-0 out of 5 stars tripleFun
Ms. Shackelford's straight forward, upbeat style of writing and amazing honesty in telling about her and her husband's struggles to become a family make tripleFun an awe inspiring book. And one that is sure to strike a chord with readers of any age or family experience. After all, who isn't secretly fascinated with multiple births.Whether it's twins, triples, quads, etc. giving birth to and caring for so many at once seems not only unbelievable, but impossible to those of us who are without children or had the standard one at a time.My hat off to Ms. Shackelford and all parents of multiples. Now how about book two - the toddler years. And more pictures of Amanda, Michaela and Trevor.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have For Families Expecting or With New Multiples
Triplefun is the story of a courageous woman and her struggle to survive and flourish with the extraordinary welcoming of triplets.Lia Shackelford gives good advice, handy tips and interesting ideas to make life more bearable with the onslaught of an instant family. She uses humor to disclose the real trials within a marriage that are inevitable among new triplet families. She is honest about her fears, which alone takes courage, but in the end chooses life over comfort or even what may be the valid concerns of women involved in such complicated pregnancies.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars this is an excellent book
I found out about this book from my pastor. He said it would help and it did.The book offers a map of grief. It shows what it is, the path it takes, what makes it worse or better and importantly what we do to get through it.I needed a map and I got it.5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For Men Who Are Grieving
Thomas R. Golden's "Swallowed by a Snake" is by far one of the best books on grief that I have ever read. And because the book is primarily geared towards those with a masculine style of grieving (activity and future-oriented), as a man, I could immediately identify with what Golden had to say.5-0 out of 5 stars Swallowed by a Snake
This book was excellent. This was my first book on grief, and I found it very well written and easy to understand.I feel that the author gives a good background on how the grief process works, and why men experience grief differently. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent source for valuable info on hair-loss treatment options
This is a very well researched source of information on various types of hair-loss treatment. The author speaks from experience with successfully combating hair loss after extensive research on various products. I think that makes the book more credible than the self-promoting product sites out there. The author covers virtually all of the effective methods of hair loss treatment, including Propecia, herbal suppliments, topical solutions (monoxidil etc), hair transplants, and more. A must buy for all those interested in knowing pretty much all there is to know about hair loss treatment options, their effectiveness, pros and cons, etc.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This book is largely a regurgitation of the very limited information that is already widely available. Reading it was superfluous. Most of what Kobren covers is cosmetic management of the problem; the advice on diet applies only to the worst lifestyle offenders, and he paints finasteride (Propecia) as a panacea, which it definitely isn't. The book is thin, both physically and in terms of content.1-0 out of 5 stars Save Your Hair & Your Money
I disagree with the author.First, Propecia grows hair in one area at the expense of another.Spironolactone has been proven to stop the growth of hair.DHT does not cause hair loss.Spencer does not even mention the nutrient theory of baldness and how many people have been regrowing scalp hair by removing body hair, allowing nutrients to get to the scalp. Can you tell me what it takes to grow scalp hair if not androgens? Ernie ... Read more
