AARP Bulletin tipped me off to this book.What an eye-opener!The author, a psychotherapist, observed that 80% of his patients in the 40 to 55 year range suffered from this irritability.He attributes it mostly to hormone changes, but also to their stage in life/career/etc.
35 Year Old Male Reads Book - Admits Issues
This is informative, full of facts and examples, but tends to run in circles and is too lengthy. Finishing the book helped me understand my emotions like the South Beach Diet helped me understand my appetite.

An informing and practical guide
The book "Sex, Men and God" is immensly helpful in understanding the underlaying reasons for sexual addiction. The problem is affecting men all over the world. Dr. Weiss gives you a thorough understanding of the problem and clear real-life examples. He also gives you practical step-by-step guidelines for working through the problems and solving them on your way to sexual success. The author obviously has years of counseling experience on the subject. I strongly recommend the book.

Wish I Had Read This Years Ago
If you are a Christian male and have struggled with sexual issues, pornography or relating to your wife this is the book for you! Easy to read and understand. Immediately applicable to today's life and challenges. Also discusses how to deal with and talk to teenage males about sex.

Best Ever

Great Book!
I absolutely loved it. It helped my husband and I go through what the authors describe as a "trying time." It was. By the time I found this book I was on my third cycle and needed helpful advice. We decided to read it as we went through each step instead of all at once and it gave us helpful information, insightful tips, and the encouragement we needed to succeed.

Easy to read and understand.
This book is very colorful and full of little facts. It highlights the important information and provides a little extra for those bookworms.I found the information to be interesting and well presented.The pictures and graphs helped with my understanding and are great if you need to refer back.

Understanding Men's Passages
It's an easy-to-read book for the amateur trying to figure out where the man in my life is going.Since he's still in my house, it's good to have a map.

As a man grows older
This is an effort to help the silent sex, the Male of the Species understand the pains and problems ( and also the opportunities) of aging. For Sheehy the first forty years are the years of the competitive male, seeking to conquer in the world. The next years , she says, should be the time for the Men to become a more gentle, more multi- goaled kind of being. The forty plus Male should be thinking and working for a better relationship with spouse, for greater consideration of children, for more harmonious relation to others.
Not All It's Cracked Up To Be
Although well written and researched, Gail Sheehy's book was a major disappointment. Having experienced many years of discomfort, especially on location, I assumed that somewhere in 'Understanding Men's Passages' I'd find advice on how to treat my chronic hemorrhoids. not worth the money
The main disappointment with this book was the lack of actual meal plans and recipes.Nearly 2/3rds of the book is given over to advice about exercise, emotional health, etc-- good stuff, but also stuff that's covered better in several other well known books. There are really only a few pages given over to how to actually eat. This plan is also based on Atkins principles, and though it is much more flexible and reasonable, it would be quite difficult to follow for vegetarians and veggie friendly options are not provided by the authors. This book is mainly of interest to women with PCOS who need more general lifestyle information. Women with endo and other issues, or people who are looking for more concrete nutritional info, meal plans, etc should look to the Healing Gourmet book on fertility. It has a similar approach (to insulin resistance) but provides concrete suggestions for meal planning.

An alternative couples can try at home before/with expensive fertility treatment
The gist of this book is that insulin resistance--a condition that can be pre-diabetic, and a condition that can be MODERATED BY PROPER DIET--impedes fertility. The book describes that problem and proposes a solution.

not the best I've read
I read 3 books on this subject, and this was my least favorite out of all three.I found it a bit negative and reading it almost made me more focused on the negative aspects of infertility.The information was good, but not as good and not as easy to navigate as other books I've read.

Good resource
I purchased this book related to infertility along with a couple of others.I started reading from the beginning (which details the author's experiences) and had to put it down. It was very difficult for me to read about the author's personal experiences because she went through a lot.However, while I was going through my own IVF cycle, this was the book I relied on most.Of all the books I have purchased, this book had the most relevant information (what do E2 levels mean, why progesterone levels are important, etc). After scouring the internet and other books for answers to a question I had, I would find that this book at least addressed my question. It is not a complete reference book (I don't think it was meant to be) and doesn't answer everything in great detail but it came the closest.(Of course, it would be nice if most REs took a little time to explain things to their patients...)

incredible
I can't begin to describe my difficulties of growing into the body I am going to have as a woman, but I don't have to because Jessica did it for it for me. There are very few ways to describe how it feels to read "Do I look fat in this?" except to say it's freeing. As I turned the pages I would eat up every word & little by little i could breathe easier.
Genuine connection heals.
I have been a psychotherapist for about as long as Jessica has been on the planet and a writer longer than that. From both of these vantage points I applaud this excellent book. Most of all, Jessica is honest and vulnerable in what she has to share and teach and it is that kind of genuine connection that really helps people heal. Buy 2 copies; you'll want to give one away.

Good info for all men and women.
Not sure what I expected, but I did find the presentation thorough, helpful and logical.Much of the general background can be found in other soucebooks and the internet but it was useful to have the information all in one location.The author did help me to identify long-standing posture problems as related to lower back pain.As a manual for structure and function, the book is very good; the sections on pelvic movements are very clearly explained.Unfortunately, the references to Rolfing and bodywork seem too vague

Practical, informative, fascinating
This is a superb book. It is written particularly for Rolfers, but is essential reading for any other body worker as well. Since studying this book on my own, I have become much more confident doing pelvic massage with male clients. Having detailed knowledge of the underlying structures allows me to explain to men what I'm doing and why. Clients can be informally instructed at the same time they are made more comfortable with touch in this area. An excellent and important book for any Medical Doctor, Psychologist or Physical Therapist yet easily understood and enjoyed by someone with a less scientific mind. In fact, I consider this book a "MUST READ" for P.T.'s, Massage Therapists, and all body workers, consultants and trainers who work with men. I would also consider this book an excellent primer for any one (woman OR man) involved in a sexual, romantic, or loving relationship with a male. Medical Doctor's objections
This book is 16 YEARS old and does not provide any science or medicine based advice! It really consists of 100 pages with fluff and 18 pages with exercises. I wrote a review of "Copying with PE" stating the fact that it is a lot less valuable now because it is written 2 year ago. The reason is the breakthrough which medicine and research have achieved in this area.

Engaging and full of hope
Sheryle writes a creative, heart-rending story of her battle with anorexia and bulimia and the spiritual revelation that saved her life. She transparently shares her jagged journey from bondage to freedom in a way that those who struggle with this frightening disorder will identify with.Her questions for journaling are as good as hours of therapy. If you have PCOS get this book!
Get this book if you have PCOS, even if you are not TTC it will answer every question you ever had about PCOS.It is a really great read and I suggest you get it.I also bought the Insulin Resistance Diet book, because it helps with the symptoms of PCOS.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone with PCOS that is trying to conceive.It is full of great information.She doesn't just give the technical information, but talks about the emotional aspect of coping with infertility.I love all of the books that I have read by Colette Harris.

A lot of theory and little substance
This book tries to establish a relationship between your frame of mind and your ability to conceive.While stress may not help your chances I do not believe that somehow something in your past blocks an egg from being fertilised just like that.No evidence is provided that this happens.
The Whole Person Fertility Program
I whole-heartedly recommend this book and its results. In addition to reading this book I went through about two years of therapy with Niravi, which changed my life. I think the readers who interpreted what she is saying with the attitude that if you don't get pregnant by following what she suggests, that it's all in your mind, and it's your fault, have it all wrong. That is exactly the thinking that I was stuck in, and had created as a self-blame mechanism that I carried around with me all of my life. Her goal is not to have you blame yourself, but to look at your life and try to understand how and why you have come to have the beliefs that you do, which may not be your fault at all. They can be very strong family influences, work influences and society influences that keep you and your mind locked in patterns of behavior that affect how your body responds to stress, illness or disease. I believe the mind has a huge affect on your health and how well your body works, and I believe medicine is only just starting to catch on to this idea. That is the basis for Niravi's program. I finally examined how I was really living my life and whether that way was compatible with what I was saying was my goal to have a baby. My life was not compatible with having a baby before I worked with Niravi. I tried for 10 years to get pregnant. I finally forgave myself for all the mistakes and failures, but it took a long time to do. I am now 7 1/2 months pregnant, which I had not expected to happen. I give a lot of credit to Niravi for helping me stop blaming myself and to get on with my life. Hope she can help you too.

Not for everyone
I purchased this book since I haven't been able to conceive after many years of trying, and it was recommended in "Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom". I believe in the mind/body connection but there is an inherent risk in focusing on this: we feel even MORE guilty when we don't conceive since it MUST be in our minds! Excellent

So not what I needed to hear!!!
I read this book shortly after dh and I decided to look into adoption.The author goes on and on about getting through your grief over infertility and it made me even more depressed about my situation!! She goes through different stages that a couple has to grieve before they are ready to move on and adopt such as the grief of never sharing a pregnancy with your spouse, the grief of never having a biological child etc. etc. etc.To me, adoption is not about grieving over what I am going to miss out on, it is about embracing life's path and looking at what I do get to experience such as the joy of finding out there is a child for us, and the excitment of sharing the adoption experience with my dh.IF sucks, I will be the first one to admit that!!! But life is what you make of it and I don't think that I need to grieve all these different steps before I am ready to embrace adoption.

Pop psychology
I could barely read this book. I guess I'm just not that torn up about being infertile. It reads too much like a self-help book to suit me - lots of hand wringing about things we have no control over, lots of personal stories of hand wringing. The author apologizes a few times for the first 3 chapters, justifying my decision to skip them after skimming the first.

Outdated sure, but still relevant
This book, published in 1996 and half of which is a directory of shops, was bound to be outdated months after publication much less ten years after, as it is now.Hence the four stars instead of five.
