I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must have!
After having a miscarriage at 8 weeks, and having waited for that pregnancy to happen for 12 years, I found comfort in researching as much as possible about dealing with the pain of my loss. Finding this book has made me realize why I have had so much trouble getting pregnant to begin with. It is easy to read and has a step by step explanation on how to apply the Ancient Chinese Medicine and methods in your life-style to be successfully pregnant... naturally. I strongly recommend this book to anyone in search for the "infertility cure". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific and important information
This book is a must if you are suffering from any hormonal imbalances. It is informative and well written. There are side bars with recaps to summarize the chapter that are really helpful. I'm taking notes and going to see my endocrinologist to discuss my options with my hormonal vurnerablities.

5-0 out of 5 stars every woman MUST read this book!!
Having read the book, Hormonally Vulnerable Women, and a number of other lesser, yet respected books, it quickly becomes clear who has the upper hand of insight and education when it comes to hair loss.
5-0 out of 5 stars A book that really gives good info about hormones
Dr. Redmond's book is one of the best I've read on the subject of women's hormones.Especially at menopause, women's hormones go haywire and cause all kinds of health problems.Dr. Redmond's knowledge gave me new resourses to try and I can't recommend this book enough for women going through the change and for all women who want to learn more about how they can help themselves feel better by understanding what their hormones are doing to them and why. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worked for me
Three months ago I took a PSA test and it came back 8.79 ng/mL. I had no other symptoms and started looking for an alternative to what the doctors wanted me to do. I found this book and followed the instructions which include a strict diet, exercise and 20+ vitamins. I took another PSA test two weeks ago and just received the results today: 4.5 ng/mL. Still elevated but quite a remarkable improvement in just two months. It will be interesting to see what it will be six months or a year from now.

5-0 out of 5 stars read this book together
This book is written by a husband and wife who continue to experience permanent impotence as a result of prostate cancer sugery. The book is structured like a "diary" with dated entires over a several-year period written separately by both husband and wife who are honest about their fears, disappointments and frustrations. It does not dwell on the surgery itself, but focuses on the post-surgical successes and disappointments as they try to engage in sexual relations using various options. It focuses on the loving relationship between the spouses, but it is also realistic about sexual needs -- from both partners' perspectives.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This is a great book on the subject of impotence. I am an 8 year Prostate Cancer survivor and this book tells it like it is. Virginia and Keith are to be commended for sharing the intimate details of their recovery.
5-0 out of 5 stars I've Found Real Hope After 14 Years

4-0 out of 5 stars Men sharing
It is good that men should dwell together.Men should share their experiences with eachother.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too dated to be of much use
A nice try at defining life stages but this book misses the mark. It's too culture-bound to be of much use to anyone other than white middle-class American baby boomers. If you are one of those - as I am - you may recognise yourself in this book up to a point, but I doubt you will learn much that's new. As other reviewers have pointed out, it would have been a groundbreaking book in the 1970's, but these days you'll find similar information and analysis in the lifestyle pages of most Sunday papers.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dated Material
This book reads like a bad psych textbook from the 60's & 70's; because thats basically what it is.There are some masculine universal truths but you really have to search for them. The case studies & occupations are dated & irrelivent to baby boomers in the 21st century and not very helpful IMHO.Still there are a few pearls and saving graces but you really have to work hard to read this one. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource for Overeaters
I really appreciate this book. I loved the caring tone and the way the author seemed to reach out and give the reader a hug! I think that so many of the stories and descriptions spoke to my heart about myself and friends that I found myself calling friends or emailing parts of the books so we could talk ideas! This is a gem! Thank you for writing it, Doreen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Doreen !
without giving too many details as it would be too personal, I consider this book a "gift from above"... : it helps people understand WHY they eat too much, and how to get your eating pattern back in control to lead a successful weight loss. Doreen gives plenty of tips, such as affirmations. There is no pretention in her book and it helps people who have been struggling with emotional overeating and who have been victims of abuse, whether the "facts" happened during their childhood or later in life. It's a powerful self-therapy book, highly recommended !

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for emotional eaters
I had never made the connection between my emotions and my eating until I started reading this book. After tolerating abuse from my parents and my husband, I had no idea why I seemed so nice and happy on the outside but one little thing could make me lose it and throw a temper tantrum.By doing the exercises in this book, I began to see how I had been keeping my emotions stuffed and as I released them, I also released the weight.Great book.I highly recommend it for emotional eaters. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Outdated and Useless
A lot of the percursors mentioned in this book, namely androstenedione, are no longer legally available in the U.S.

5-0 out of 5 stars I tested prior to takingandro and after!!!!!
The advice given is worth listening to. I did. I am 58 and tested prior to the use of Androstenedione and after, The results were great. I was at the lowest level of testosterone to start and after 6 months of 50mg of Ando per day, It was raised the middle level, Just where I wanted to be. L-Glutamine and Creatine are other supplements to be considered for older men, When used in correct doses and exercise bring good results. I have more studies on my website. Roger Mason, a Scientist has other good books on Amazon check them out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Super Book on Super T
This is an excellent presentation, aimed at a lay audience, for the role of testosterone replacement and supplementation for male and female health. The author clearly knows the field backwards and forwards, and presents a balance view on each supplement and approach discussed. I also thoroughly agree with his view on weight training, which can be summed up in a question one posed to Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ah-nold's answer: "Am I too old to train with weight?" "You're too old NOT to." Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally what I was trying to find.
This book is awesome. I am just TTC (trying to conceive) and this book really detailed the ups and downs of each month as you ride the roller coaster of your cycle. I also was reassured that if I have to take the next step, seeing a doctor, not all of the options for getting pregnant with help are as scary as I thought.
5-0 out of 5 stars I just finished this book
I just finished this book and wanted to check out what others thought and was surprised that there were people who hated this book so much.First of all, I have to remind these folks that this book is not supposed to be a medical book about infertility.Nothing about this book, from its cover design to the book description indicates that it is a medical reference or how-to book.Granted, I picked this book up at B&N and flipped through it first before purchasing it, that's why I don't feel duped by the contents in this book.I feel this this book is funny, original, interesting, and has plenty of good advice and descriptions of fertility treatment procedures. It's meant to be subjective and lighthearted. And for those of you going through torturous fertility treatments, it's understandable that this book will seem like it's making fun of the situation, but I don't think that that was what the authors intended to do.Anyway, this book is perfect for those that have an open mind, have been trying to conceive for no more than six months, and have a sense of humor.

4-0 out of 5 stars I wanted the truth!
I wouldn't say this book was the most comprehensive on fertility treatments, and it was a bit redundant with it's cute email-style writing, but if you are TTC (Trying to Concieve), you need to read it anyways.I really identified with the authors and felt as though I was reading my own story. It just felt so good to laugh, and to know I'm not the only one having these crazy thoughts and emotions while despirately wanting to get pregnant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saves lives
All I can say is that a prominent physician who does some of the greatest number of diagnostic workups for Prostate conditions had the courage to recommend Larry Clapps work in addition to the mainstream approaches as an alternative as he had seen so many benefit from it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Prostate Health in 90 Days
It will probably be a while before I'm sure how helpful the book will be.So far, though, I'm pleased with the information.
1-0 out of 5 stars Many Conclusions and Opinions- Little Evidence
Offers many unique and very unusual opinions, but unfortunately almost none are supported by direct references to a study, clinical trial, or scientific article. Statement after statement is presented as fact with no support. With so many strong conclusive statements presented, if the results are so clear, where are the studies, medical articles and comparative trails with supporting results!! Book cannot or doesn't provide. Appendix does provide general references/addresses/phone numbers of other "..Healers and Products". I do not recommend this book ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad investment. Encyclopedic on exercise versions and methods.
This book has extensive variations of all sorts of exercises. In the first impression, I felt that was a distraction from simplifying life for exercisers. Yet, the variation of equipments, environment, and exercises convinced me that could help people to choose among many options. One exercise of T-bar row was done with the bar anchored on a dumbbell, which made me feel uneasy. Yet, it could help people where machines are scarce. Many gyms I visited lack the T-bar row machine and the idea of using a heavy dumbbell isn't bad for a beginner. It could cause injury if the dumbbell moves, though.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for coping skills
This book was great for coping skills when it comes to the ups and downs of infertility.I learned a lot of techniques to lower my stress level.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
I didn't realize how much of the stuff that I was going through other people were also. Some of the anger I have been feeling I have been trying to supress because I thought I was the only one feeling that way.It is really nice to know that other women are feeling the same way and all the reactions I've had others have had also. With something as personal as infertility you don't always get the support you need.I'm no closer to being pregnant because of the book, however, I am going to be able to keep my sanity and my marriage.I hope that others read this book and realize that what they are feeling is okay and it is okay to take control over what the doctors are telling you they are going to do with YOUR body.God Bless.

3-0 out of 5 stars interesting
This book was interesting enough, but I don't feel that it helped me really understand men going through a mid life crisis.I will still keep it on my bookcase though.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Bit Negative...
Although informative, this book comes from a very negative place. While some men do participate in affairs during their midlife crisis, there are some who don't, as well as those who come to their senses and want to work on their marriages. For those searching for hope, handling the issue with realistic expectations and integrity, I would suugest Jim and Sally Conway's books, "Men in Midlife Crisis" and "Your Husbands Midlife Crisis."
5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful guide through the journey called midlife crisis!
It is unfortunate that so many marriages are falling prey to midlife crisis (if you want to call it that).Point is our disposable society makes it too easy to divorce. This book is a pratical guide to help you traverse this journey. Not only is the book an easy read and very helful in understanding and keeping yourself in check, it really focuses on learning about yourself and not talking blame for your wayward spouses issues. It helps you be a better you!As well, the website listed is a direct link to others suffering the same things. That site has so much information, one could read for days. There is also chat which is helpful and one bonus is that friends can be made to last a lifetime. This book has it all and I implore anyone in the throes of this anxiety called midlife crisis to read this book and then peruse the site for loving and supportive help. It is a truly a gift to know you are not alone. ... Read more

It seems to me that there is FAR too little focas on the entireity of those who suffer from eatig disorders and self injurous behavior. I do mean suffer, because there is more to the whole picture than hurting themselves.
5-0 out of 5 stars Book holds valuable information.
As I read through the reviews of "The Best Little Girl in the World", I just had to throw in my two cents.
5-0 out of 5 stars Worthy of a read
While I understand that people view this book as setting anorexic standards to the anorexic, I do consider this to be a good book. I think it is important to bear in mind the time period that this was written in (it's a pretty early book on ED considering it was first published in 1979).

5-0 out of 5 stars I did get pregnant after one month!
I did not follow the diet strictly, but I simplified the diet by buying Amy's brown rice and tofu bowls which had most of the ingredients she recommended. I ate one of these every day for lunch. I also ate yams, yams and more yams.I got them from the local International grocery in St. Louis.I would think it would be hard to implement this diet if you are not in an urban area. I had been trying to get pregnant for a year before I tried this, and when I tried the diet, I got pregnant within a month.I agree that the diet is confusing, and it was impossible for me to follow strictly. But I did do the best I could and it seemed to work.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book just makes sense
The previous reviewer's comments seem very harsh, and I can only guess she was hoping for a quick fix to her own infertility. How can one blame infertility on a good diet? I think the author makes a very solid connection between diet and infertility and her recommendations are good, but of course, one needs to be ready to implement change. If you are not ready to give up meat, of course you may be put off by her advice as the previous reviewer was. Animal proteins (meat) are not the only, and definitely not the best, source for iron, zinc and calcium. Any quick search on the internet will provide you with a list of alternative sources for these minerals...plus most women who are trying to get pregnant should be taking a prenatal vitamin, which will supplemant their mineral needs. But one should always look to food sources first for their vitamins and minerals as they are most easily absorbed by the body. I for one agree that food has a connection to infertility, plus who wouldn't want to "detox" their bodies to ensure they have a health environment for a growing baby.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth a Try
I bought this book and went on the diet during my second IVF cycle--after 3 years of trying.I got pregnant for the first time in my life...Unfortunately, I miscarried at 11 weeks, but this was due to Down's Syndrome & my doctors have told me it was not related to my infertility problems (endometriosis) at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite useful for the straight (or gay) man
Now first off, I have to get something off my chest. I am not a homophobe - I had a homosexual roommate sophomore year of college and we got along fine - but I get tired of people (most commonly women) who either drool at anything or anyone homosexual or having this belief that homosexuals are inherently good at anything involving home decor or style. I hate to break it to you, but homosexuals are like you and me, and not all are like the Fab Five. Remember my homosexual roommate? His side of the room was the messiest I have ever seen a human being make. The Fab Five would have had collective heart attacks upon seeing the state of it. By the logic of the homofangirls, I was the homosexual. Not to mention that half the things said in this book I have also read in "straight" men's magazines including "Men's Health" or the alternate "Men's Fitness." I'm sorry folks, but there's no Cult of Gays out there in brown robes meeting in caves and passing down tablets written by God that tell you what brand of shaving cream to use. The reason the Fab Five are so good at what they do is because they have had the training or education and DO know what they are talking about. For example, Thom Filicia founded an interior design company, and Kyan Douglas has had experience in professional and commercial salons.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Fun format, visually appealing (of course!), useful information in all subjects, even some really delicious, simple-to-cook but impressive-to-serve recipes, and take it from a girl: what these guys say about what appeals to women (or turns us off) is absolutely true.Best of all, it's never about changing who or what the reader is, but about bringing out the best that's already in him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plenty of useful advise here!
Heard the taped version of QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY by Ted Allen et al. . . . I must admit to not being a big favorite of the TV show (of the same name); however, that said,

5-0 out of 5 stars great for beginners
What...no flashy hard cover? Black and white photos, and a single picture on anatomy of the body? This book is a great example that you should not judge a book by it's cover. I was looking for a book that could introduce me into the world of weight lifting. I needed the basics in nutrition, form, breathing, and progression. This book gave me every thing I was looking for and more. This was my third book I purchased to get me started. The other publications were flashy, full of color and expensive. But this is the book I go back to over and over again. I am very happy with this book and I am progressing very well with the right know how provided here. A great guide for beginners

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book to Improve your Physique or Stay in Shape

4-0 out of 5 stars You've gotta start somewhere...
If you're searching for books like this, chances are you are 'looking into' getting started with weights or getting back into them. One thing you should know is that no one book on the market is the be all/end all for weight training. Two broad categories of books in this field are those that present you with routines and those that focus on exercise mechanics. I like this book because it gives you enough of both to get started - which was the biggest hurdle for me. You get the exercises (w/ photos) and the proposed progression routine to follow. For all its shortcomings - I completely ignored everything it had to say about nutrition and supplements and it has given me great results - if you can follow the break-in routine laid out here for 12 weeks, your body will be prepared to move into whatever direction you want to go. That will probably mean buying more books, but at least you will have a feel for what you are looking for. If you can't get through the break in routine you prolly won't be looking for anymore books anyway - until you feel inspired again. If you have the extra cash, you should prolly pick up the "Strength Training Anatomy" book to get more specific information on the indivdual exercises. ... Read more
