Huge Disappointment
I bought this book as soon as I saw it because I have always loved Robin and her deep passion for being a mother.I started reading right away and couldn't believe how this book has little to no substance.I'm not really interested in how she met Phil and where she worked, we all have these stories.I thought this would be more about her convictions and devotion to her family.Instead I was bored, not interested and quickly realized this book was an ego boost more than a helpful read.I have yet to finish because it is so difficult to trudge through.

Another Wanna Be?
"What The Bleep..." captured my curiosity, but this book almost makes me angry.There is so much more to our being than the "mind-body" connection, and the author tries to understand the spirit, but misses the mark.Making the mind the most powerful connector is not in line with mind/body/spirit reality and that makes this book disappointing. The journal format makes it very readable, but why use this format unless the ego, which is the nemesis of the mind, is what is truly in control? Go with "Forget The Cures, Find The Cause," before reading this, then add a little Chopra.

This book addresses the age-old desire of people to move towards pleasure and away from pain.
Wow
I couldn't put this book down and it's been a while since that happened. This book has a lot of great content to it (I was nervous by the simple sounding title that it woud be another fluffy feel good book where they tell you if you smile you'll feel good and you leave with no real new information). But Candace Pert doesn't play that fruit-tart game. A true scientist, she gives gives accurate and researched answers to many of the questions she's been asked over the many years from aspartame to releasing trauma through bodywork to peptide T for HIV. The book isn't a compilation of lists but weaves the information through in a narrative style so it's very enjoyable reading (as I said - it's the first book I really didn't want stop reading in a while). I first head about Candace through a friend who had her meditation/relaxation/feel good CD "Psychosomatic Wellness" so I bought it from her website too because my friend was so amazd by it -- and it is great! I was SO EXCITED when I read the part of the book that explained the science behind the CD!! I'm rambling now...but I just think this book is great! I highly recommend her CD too -- it's so effective (I don't know why Candace Pert doesn't have "Psychsomatic Wellness" on Amazon - but everyone should buy it because it's priceless and goes great with the book). Great Resource for Patients and Dentists
I am a third year dental student at the University of Southern California and this book is a great resource for me.It has a very straight forward no nonsense approach that simplifies all the information out there about cosmetic dental procedures.I found the cases to be very interesting and informative plus I can use the information to help educate the patients I see about what options they have.With all the mixed messages out there about cosmetic dentistry it is great to have a resource that is so straightforward and helpful.Plus the price, are you kidding me?!?What a bargain!And the proceeds go to charity, if you are a dentist or a potential patient at all interested in cosmetic procedures then there is no reason not to buy this book.

I am a Sniper in a special STRIKE team in the British Army on my second tour of Iraq. This book is one of the best books I have had the privilege to read. It gave me the tools I needed to go from shooting at great distances under pressure and then picking up my hart-rate to go into a hostile house to arrest the target. It has done more than just that, it has helped me understand who I am and why I am.

On Combat
I have read two books written by this author. Both are excelent and tells it like it is. Very clear to understand, explains in detail some of the emotions I experienced. Wish I would have known about this before.

Grossman Hits Another Home Run
Anyone who has read "On Killing" knows that Col. Grossman knows his stuff on this topic."On Combat" is a new look at this topic with many updates and some new ideas, including more original research into the mental processes that take place in the mind of a warrior during combat situations.The authors also look at the mental processes of 'recovery', why recovery sometimes goes wrong, and compare the homecoming of the veterans of the various 20th century wars to look at the results of Vietnam vs the other conflicts.

Managing Conflict using Getting to Yes, what a book!
Few books stand up from the crowd when we talk about conflict and negotiation. This book does and it serves companies a great deal to make it a required reading for professionals. When I recommend this book to trainees in all my training seminars people think I am getting paidcommission from the publisher :) hmmmmmmay be I should. The content of this book is sound; however
First, a testimonial.When I was three-quarters of the way through, I had a whammy of a week.On Monday I negotiated in a job interview, Tuesday I negotiated with my landlady, and Wednesday I negotiated with my manager over new job routines (the cause of my activities on Monday). I found the methods, strategies, approaches and techniques in the book IMMEDIATELY helpful in these situations.

busy, wordy and uninspiring
I got this book for my foster teens but tossed it in the recycling bin instead. The book is full of chatter; the authors never get to the point.Plus all the illustrations, boxes and fonts, which I guess are supposed to be hip, give you a headache. I did plog through this quagmire long enough to confirm the authors weren't saying anything that would inspire a kid, so it's just as well they slathered it with window dressing. The book dies have a catchy cover, which I assume is designed to attract parents, not kids.Heck, I bought it.

bit much for my 12 year old
My 12 year old got bored with it, she's probably too young for this book.I am hoping she will pick it up in a year or so. I thought it was interesting and usefull.

This book: The 7 HABITS of Highly Effective TEENS, included many wonderful/helpful ideas, wich i used and enjoyed on my own. This book is what i call a guidance book. That helps in my eyes young teens who have problems in highly effective areas. This book basically shows you how to develope good habbits, it makes you become a better person, working on your personality and bad habits. the author gave you his fathers seven habbits to success in all parts of life. The author Sean Covey, put it in a fun and easy way to understand the point of this wonderful book.This book was actually a slight help to both me and my mother. I learned to work things out with her, and agree on things easier.

Not for those with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
There are only 2 or 3 pages addressing hypoglycemia. The advertisements address blood sugar imbalances which I thought would include hypogylcemia.Many of the recommendations will not help those with hypoglycemia and may actually be detrimental.

Excellent Book!
This is an excellent book for those who are having energy problems and not losing weight. I am not a classic binge eater, but I did not have the energy to do almost anything. I have weight to lose and nothing I was doing was working. I am a couple weeks into this book and I am feeling better already. My body-type swelling has gone down, I actually am getting up and doing things, etc. I have lose 4 lbs so far. I haven't lost weight in 4 years! This is a solution that is working for me. Although I am not a fan of the alternate sugars out there, I am using Stevia.

HOW MUCH IS FACT, HOW MUCH IS FICTION? EITHER WAY, A TERRIFIC READ...
... and definitely informative... but just keep in mind that this is written by a member of the media, a Rolling Stone columnist, no less (ie: a professional at distorting the truth if it enhances the story's angle). An entertaining read and highly recommended.

This book is not quite what i thought it would be
A beautiful woman's review
As a young, beautiful and smart lady, I had to get my hands on this book at least because of all the buzz around it. Well, I have to say that I am impressed! You see guys, most women like me won't mind at all to meet a guy who knows what to say and how to say it in order to grab our attention and keep it even till bed. Neil Strauss has realized very well that manipulation and sly tactics don't go easily under our inner radars and that's why he stresses the importance of respecting each woman you attract and sleep with. Of course, you may be the #1 pick up artist but if you can last 7-10 minutes in bed you ARE history and you can't blame me or any other self-respecting woman who has high expectations in bed. That's why I strongly advise all serious men to educate themselves with must have bestsellers such as "scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex". Books like The Game help you to score better with more women and thus to have greater choice. Well, we also want and have many to choose from. So consistently hone your skills in and outside of bed, build your confidence and practice the techniques revealed in such bestsellers. Then you will easily and logically score very well with hot women and neither they nor you will have the feeling that there is some manipulation going on. I've been trying to organize my life for over 20 years, and have read innumerable books on the subject. While each one has offered something to add to the puzzle, none of them has told the whole story.

Her best book and one with some great advise
Having read Ms Huffingtons earlier books, most of which were written when she was in the Republican camp, I was curious as to what the new book would be like and admit I was even hesitant, thinking she may have gone the extreme opposite. But I am so dang impressed and cannot recommend the book highly enough.
Because Women Need The Message
I rated this book with 4 stars because so many women are going to recognize themselves in this book; however, I didn't give it five stars because Huffington didn't go far enough into the female or human dilemma.We are riddled with fear because of history, the church, the state, but to make a statement "become fearless" and not back it up with the way to do it, leaves us empty.In Gangi's book, "Forget The Cures, Find The Cause," she also talks about fear, but fear as one of only two emotions, love being the other.To become fearless we have to embrace ourselves with unconditional love, not become warriors in the pack.Huffington's name will sell the book, but readers need to know there are stronger messages written with more heart. ... Priceless
Most people who give this book negative ratings are just plain ignorant or cheap morons. The guy has done a ton of research to bring us this kind of information and he risks his life to expose the scumbag ripoffs in the food and drug industry. This book just shows how we Americans are brainwashed, tamed sheep, swollowing what we're given. Most of American food is sick and the sickness passes onto people. The milk you drink is filled with pesticides and growth hormones and even though all the scientists will say it doesn't have any effect on people, they're lying, why?because they'll get sued. That's right, there is no freedom of speech, even doctors have to watch their mouth. The fact is that the growth hormones and pesticides do transform into your body. Just why do you think the Canadians refused to feed their cows growth hormones?because they know what the effects are but us Americans, we're ignorant and lazy and we don't care. That is our attitude.So here's a guy that sheds some truth on what's going on in the food/drug industry and there's still morons who will badmouth him for doing so or some idiots who thought they'll pick up this book and all their problems will be solved. It makes me mad that there's such people out there who can misinterpret a book so badly.The guy never says you should get off your prescription drugs or try natural remedies before consulting with your doctor, it is written on the very first pages for crying out loud yet people come on here and write ridiculous reviews.Again, these must be the lazy couch potatoes who think picking up a book will cure their illness. No, you need to get off your butt on this one. If you want to be spoonfed pills, continue with your local pharmacy. I could go on forever how great this book is but I'll just say, ignore all the idiotic negative reviews and get this book and follow what it says,it's probably the best thing you can do for yourself. It's worth it's weight in gold.

A Re-Directory for information
What little information this book tells you about those "natural cures" are already common knowledge. It goes on and on, ad nauseum, about corruption. If you want more information about certain alleged cures, the book tells you to go to certain websites, and when you get there, you have to pay. It's like buying a cookbook that hardly has any recipes, and telling you that you have to go online and pay up front. What's the point of buying the book if it only has a few recipes? ... Read more

Loved it. If you actually do what they recommend you will immediately begin feeling better, doesn't matter how bad you feel, you will enjoy results. Then after you feel better, the good stuff starts. Read it, do it, and then be pleasanlty surprised.

Not Quite Abraham
I'm afraid I understand the laws of attraction differently than the Hicks, though I know they profess this to be channeled. I'm quite sure many will benefit from this, yet another in the line of channellings, but for me, I'd have to couple this book with some of Chopra's work, and certainly with Gangi's work, whom I consider a true channel of God. Nevertheless, it provides the daily meditations and answers the need of many, so, good job.

Helpful Insight
I've been on a leadership book kick lately, and this is one of my all-time favorites. It's short, easy to read, and is one of the best explanations of cognitive dissonance for the layman I've ever seen. It doesn't work for everybody though - some people are turned off by the "fable" format and simple writing style. I still find it very helpful, and it's the kind of book that can have a dramatic impact on some of its readers. It certainly does a good job of making the point that by focusing on our own behavior we can make any situation better.

Not About Leadership
This book is not really about leadership.It is about being nice to people.And remember, any problem you have with another person in life is your fault.So, apologize, start over, and be nice.

Excellent book that describes how to create a trend
I was fascinated by the original perspective in this thought provoking book about the evolution of an idea into a trend.Using easy to understand examples, Malcolm Gladwell explains the mechanics of the process, and enlightens us about the the various people involved.I strongly recommend this book.I also recommend Robert Cialdini's book, Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion.These books complement each other and should be read together.

The Tipping Point
Staff writer for The New York Post, Malcolm Gladwell, explains what causes a concept, idea or item to become an epidemic in The Tipping Point.Using case studies the reader will relate to (Sesame Street, Blues Clues, Crime in New York City in the 90's, Hush Puppies, Paul Revere's famous ride North), Gladwell discusses how and why people react the way they do in certain situations and to certain ideas/items.You'll look at your friends, co-workers and family in a different way as you consider who is a Connector, Maven or salesperson, you'll consider the context in which something happens as opposed to just the action, you'll think about everyday happenings in a different way after you read this book.
It had quite an unusual effect
I was looking for an original and valuable present for my boyfriend. I am very pleased with my decision to buy this book. It draws from several areas of knowledge and Malcolm Gladwell is a very skillful writer. He knows how to engage you from the first page till the last one and keeps you wondering what more you will learn from this incredible book. My boyfriend said that the tipping point and scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex are the best, most valuable and eye-opening books he has ever received as a present. Well, I don't hear such compliment every day. It was such a small thing for me to give him a present and yet it turned so important for him. What better proof for Gladwell's thesis. Buy a book on probability instead
This book is built around the idea "I wish it were true = it is true".While this book has innate appeal to those looking for meaning in their lives, if you're looking for a firm foundation for understanding coincidences in your life (i.e. intellectual integrity), you'd be better off buying an introduction to probability.

This book is a MUST read!!!!
If you've ever had that feeling like you were invisible...and wished just one time there was a signal that let you know you were on someone's...anyone's... global positioning system...there is such a signal. It's called a God wink. This book tells you how to find them and tap into them and make them work for you. The author is witty and funny and brilliant at weaving stories together that make you think "Hey, that's me he's writing about!"

If you are looking for something to lift your spirits and make you aware of all the wonderfilled things around you, this is the book for you. No fluff -no fancy language-zero arrogance- Jack Welch breaks down the world of business into practical concepts and solutions. He addresses everything from Mission statements to Hiring the right employees. Decent Book for the Business Minded
I'm not a big Welch fan. I feel he is disingenuous; pretending his success is due to management ra-ra. He can't hide from his past; "Neutron Jack" and his brutal business tactics, extensive pollution and massive layoffs.

this isa very good book.
i've taught the fire academy using the textbook. it is a very good book for beginning firefighters as well as those who been firefighters for a while.
