Good recipes that anyone will eat. Diabetics want tasty food like the rest of us. This is food that all of us will enjoy. I highly recommend this for anyone who has a diabetic family member.

5-0 out of 5 stars Betty Crocker's Diabetes Cookbook: Everyday Meals, Easy as 1-2-3
Excellent choice, very informative for the somewhat "diabetes illerate". I will be using it often for my recently diagnosed husband's mealplanning and plan to send a copy to my son (who was also recently diagnosed with Type2 diabetes.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL: Nuts and nolts for learning about yourself
Jon Kabat-Zinn helps even the most distressed of us learn about self-healing and self-nuturing. I am a physician and I recommend this to ALL of my chronic pain/depressed/anxious patients, and it has dramatically changed many of their lives.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift for a friend.
This book is a bitof a paradox. It is dead simple but quite complex all at the same time.I have utiised the program as detailed in the book in its most simple form.Follow the steps and see what happens. It is a great guide and it works and that is why I bought my most recent copy as a gift for a friend. However the basics are just the beginning. In very simple language this book gives you access to a new way of thinking about "you & the world" and a vast array of quality sources and peer reviewed references to support and elaborate on the ideas presented in the book. This book is the antithesis of most of the self help babble in the market place. It's the product of research, clinical experience, time and results. It's a great book that plots a simple path for those who need to find the space and time for centering their lives, once there, it gives them a framework and any number of directions that will enable them to anchor that tranquility in real time.

5-0 out of 5 stars A study and course in life
This is really a mini course in a book form on how to keep and get you life together. I have practice a lot of various faiths, that have helped my life. So this book has come at a point in life that has fit in quit well. It is a book which you have to take your time and work with. You should follow the exercises and reflecton what is being taught. I would recommend this book to anyone going through a crisis in life or trying to get back on tract after living through one. Do not pass it up. You will learn advice to pass on to friends as well. It is well written and easy to follow. This book is worth every bit of 5 stars. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars First we start with a mistake...
Having observed the healthcare industry for the last couple of decades, I would like to point out a flaw in the author's recommendations:
5-0 out of 5 stars the next 20 years, explained
Michael Porter, of value chain and competitive advantage fame, has taken on the US health care system.Your reviewer, who is speaking from inside the system, can guarantee that both his diagnosis and his proposed fix are bang on. In short, you bring the US healthcare system in line with other industries by making information about the outcomes of healthcare available to consumers, then letting them choose. How to get there from here takes up most of the book, and it is as brilliant and thoughtful as Porter fans have come to expect. Read this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars A sentinel work on healthcare reform
Michael Porter and Elizabeth Teisberg have presented a sentinel work in the field of healthcare management.American healthcare is capable of providing the very best skill, professional expertise, and technology the world has ever seen. What is failing in our healthcare system is the management and business organization required deliver value to the recipients of this expertise-- patients.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must read........
this book is chock full of information on the realities of dealing with alzheimer's disease and other memory impairment disorders.it is clearly written and uses examples of real-time situations to highlight situations that can arise and suggestions on how to deal with them.highly recommend it for care providers and others in the lives of those with memory impairment disorders.required reading for adult children to gain an appreciation for the pressures on the care provider(s) for a parent.

5-0 out of 5 stars The 36 Hour Day
This is a really good book. I kept borrowing it from the library and kept getting fined for having it too long, so I thought I'd save myself time and trouble (and money, too) and buy it. I've come across alot of the same things that are mentioned in the book. This book is helpful to give the caregiver a different perspective on AD and it's nice to know that you're not alone in your struggles. It also reminds you that others have it worse than you do. I recommend this book for anyone who has elderly relatives, with the increased incidence of AD the chances are pretty good/bad that a relative will suffer from it. I think it's best to be prepared for the worst before it gets here. That way you'd have a start on what care would be required and how much you'll have to change your life to accomadate your aging relatives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every Caregiver Should Read This Book
As the caregiver (daughter-in-law) of a 90 year old patient with dementia (vascular/multi-infact type), I found this book to be profoundly helpful in dealing with the day-to-day activities of caregiving. In short, I felt as if the authors had spent several weeks in our home and then written the book just for us!This is a MUST READ for any caregiver of a patient with Alzheimer's or other dementias. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Crazy
I am going to be very opinionated here, but just to make the point to you of what it is like.I could not stand this book.I thought the ideas were LOONEY!They recomend that when you child has a tantrum, you join them to help them understand that you understand, even in front of others.Ha!No thanks.I do love my kids, but I also would like them to learn what is correct behavior in front of others. They do have to grow up eventually!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Having really enjoyed Happiest Baby on the Block, I thought this book would be helpful too. I was so turned off by it, I couldn't even finish reading. Dr. Karp is pushing evolution in explaining why toddlers behave the way the do. I just couldn't take it anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars If you want to live- read!
this book should not be read only be people who are obese and want to lose weight. this would also apply to those skinny people who can eat McD's and not gain an ounce.
5-0 out of 5 stars This way of eating makes perfect sense!
Bottom line, the more processed food and animal products that you eat, the more your health will suffer over time. Now you don't have to read the book. No, seriously, Dr Fuhrman dispels some of our long held beliefs in what our bodies need and crave. This is only a diet book in the sense that our diets should consist of a high concentration of certain types of foods....period.Not for a month or two and then back to the way we were eating before, but for the rest of our lives.Even if you incorporated some of the principles found in this book you would benefit. You will have to find a source of good quality fruits and veggies so you will enjoy eating them.I have been easing into this way of eating simply because I have a lot of things in my cupboards that I refuse to throw out and I have still lost 10 pounds in two weeks! And I'm only 20 pounds overweight.I'm not feeling starved either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get rid of back pain - FOREVER
Hello All. I am 29 currently and I have had backpain on and off for over 9 years now. After a particularly nasty back spasm at the gym 2 years back ( where I could hardly walk), I was getting desparate. I looked at physiotherapy, and briefly at some other forms of exercise. I could not find lasting results anywhere and then I came across this book. It was god send. I read it in couple of hours flat. Re-read it next day. Thought a lot about what the author suggests are reasons behind the pain. It is generated from within and the cure also should come from within us. Anyone who thinks that cure CAN ONLY come fromoutside is going to be looking for a cure, the rest of their lives. I analyzed the book ( I am an engineer) and trusted the book.
5-0 out of 5 stars 5 years with back pain, no back pain for 6 years.
There I was, 18 years old, after exercising badly in the gym I developed back issues. An x-ray stated I had a back abnormality. For 5 years I had back pain, evey single day, mid to lower back pain. You know whats its like, the type thats always there.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
Dr. Sarno is a true pioneer in regards to diagnosing and treating back pain and has made a tremendous contribution with his discovery of the mind/body connection for this condition. I did, however, as a number of reviewers have pointed out, after reading Healing Back Pain felt the need for additional steps.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements
I know there has been a lot of criticism to this book since many say that Lyle has ties to Usana. If Lyle wants to sell his book, why would he put in the book that he works with Usana, Douglas Laboratories, Life Extensions Foundations and Source Naturals, knowing that there are people who are going to think differently after reading the book. If Lyle was interested in the money of selling the book, he wouldn't have written that information in there. Plus, if Usana or Douglas Laboratories was paying Lyle money to put their products as top of the line, why would he say he works with them? Wouldn't that cause a problem with trusting the book in general?I think he wrote it down because he takes pride in the companies he works with. This is just my opinion. There is this document posted by Melaleuca called, "Getting to the bottom of the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements."Melaleuca critiques the book on six pages.Anyone who has questions about the blending standards, or about the book in general should read it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Essential information
This book provides what is needed in the nutritional supplement industry--information and education. It shows the quality level of health supplements of even the most popular brands in grocery stores to the health stores. Buy this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars guide for the rest of us
Most of people don't have enough time to compare every supplements in the market nor enough knowledge to know what our body really need. What if some experts choose vitamins and minerals in perfect combination, put them into one single package and give you and say all-you-need-is-this? Isn't that be great? What's good about this book is you can save your time and money to know which supplements are good for you. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great information...
This book has great information about all types of minerals and vitamins.I had a hard time putting the book down.I learned so much more about the minerals and vitamins and what doses you should be using. Now I know how much my body needs of certain vitamins.

3-0 out of 5 stars Careful - this book isn't as neutral as the author claims it to be
If you read this book you will be given lots of evidence and independent studies on the various benefits of vitamins and minerals. But while this book claims to be neutral and balanced on the good and bad of each vitamin, the author does leave out a variety of studies that have cast doubt on the benefits of "mega-doses" of various vitamins and minerals.

Looking for a great book with gobs of information? Look no further! This book explains what each supplement is used for and the doses to take for specific diseases or just for optimal health. 5-0 out of 5 stars A first rate book
This is a superb book, and Dr. Bourne shows extreme insight, preception, and understanding in helping the anxious individual in today's stressful world. He seems to know me better than I know myself! I highly recommend it to anyone who has suffered with anxiety, panic, phobias, post-traumatic stress symptoms, and shyness. It will help you to get on with your life! His book will not be surpassed!
5-0 out of 5 stars Relief from stress and all kinds of anxiety
An excellent handbook, better than therapy because you know the quality of help you're getting, IMHO. You don't have to have full blown phobias to be helped by this, so don't be shy about delving in and relieving yourself from negative self talk, chronic stress, or any kind of avoidance.

This book provides comprehensive information and resources for someone suffering from an anxiety disorder or those workling with people who suffer from these horrible condition.I personally found great help in this book for myself and those I worked with. Bill Phillips had been publishing bodybuilding magazines and marketing nutritional supplements for years when he had a weird revelation at a trade show: many of the most loyal and enthusiastic readers he had were totally out of shape. From that uncomfortable realization came his popular Physique Transformation Contest (top prize that first year: Phillips's own Lamborghini), now world famous, and this book.Read more

I've been using BFL on and off for the past 3-years.If you stick with it it really works.Just tailor it to suit you.If your a woman you might want to substitute some of the excercises for those that are geared towards women.Awesome book for just getting started and workout junkies.

5-0 out of 5 stars This "diet" works. Period.
I have read many of the reviews for this book and I am dismayed at those people who have given it less than four stars. I seriously doubt they have actually followed through with the program. Pick up a copy of Men's Health magazine. They are preaching the same thing: high-protein, moderate carbohydrate meals, six times a day. EVERY issue gives specific recipes supporting this eating lifestyle. Heck, I picked up a Fortune magazine a few weeks ago, and they said the same thing: six small meals a day. Bill Phillips just figured it out before everyone else did.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life !!
I was in the military and exposed to a lot of chemicals without proper protection (sanding and painting metals). Then i got two large dental fillings, and a year later i started having dicomfort around my middle (in retrospect, probably kidney irritation).Had to wear loose pants.A couple years later my whole life began to deteriate.I had chronic yeast infection, urinary infection, and watery bowel movements with stomache cramps.Military doctors treated with temporary infection treatments, but didnt offer any indepth search for the cause of this seemingly sudden onslaught of ill health. My sex life was seriously effected, and my marriage was strained.
5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful.
I have a lot of books about body cleansing and alternative healing, but this one has information, which I never heard before like zapping or removing gold from the body for obese people. Also I think author is a little bit abscess about not using any metals even stainless steel, but she does recommend using plastic; and it is a little bit confusing about usage of filters. But I gave this book five stars anyway, because I think, that it has extremely valuable information and it is one of must have books. ... Read more

Sure, you might lose weight on this diet, but ultimately, your health will decline.Almost everything in here is packed with sugar or preservatives as the suggested ingredients.I actually GAINED weight from this plan!I was only 5 lbs overwight when I started (125 and 5'4") and gained five in about a month and a half.I switched to Ultrametabolism which actually has meat 116.5 (4 lbs. BELOW recommended weight for my height) and I feel fantastic.Buy Ultrametabolism by Dr. Mark Hyman, it contradicts everything (almost) that this book says.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!
This is a fabulous cookbook. The recipes are simple and quick. The results are delicious and filling.I eat virtually all of my meals & snacks out of this book, and my energy remains stable throughout the day. I use about 95% of the recipes, which is unprecedented for a cookbook in my home, as my family tends to be picky. This has made dinners much for enjoyable for all of us without compromising my weight.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only thing has worked for this parenting book addict!!!
I have read over a dozen parenting books including Playful Parenting, Easy to love, Difficult to Discipline, Picking Your Battles, Kids, Parents and Power Struggles, P.E.T. and Unconditional Parenting just to name a few. This though is the first book parenting book, I've ever reviewed, because it's the only one that has truly helped me.

I found this book to be a excellent resource for learning how to control "stop" behaviors.I am not as convinced on the start behavior tactics but we are going to give it a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of userful advice
We turn to a lot of books for helping in raising our daughter (now 2 and a half) and the various issues we face."What to Expect the Toddler Years" is among our top three, along with Penelope Leach's "Your Baby & Child" and the American Academedy of Pediatrics's "Caring for your Baby and Child".The advice of the three is quite consistent (including on such "hot button issues" as when to wean), but this What to Expect Book provides the greatest help on day-to-day stuff. The philosophy is consistently respectful of the child, and the book is full of useful advice.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I enjoyed the first two books in this series so much that I did not even look at the reviews listed here before putting it on my birthday wish list. Now I wish I had. I guess I would call what I do "attachment parenting" and I have not yet decided when to cut my son from the breast -- but unless he insists it won't be his first birthday. When I read the section on breastfeeding I literally threw the book across the room. It is not just biased, it is flat out wrong. I happen to know a lot about breastfeeding and so I suppose I could just ignore them on this issue -- but with it being so wrong I wonder what else they got wrong; things about which I am not knowledgeable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Eh, it was okay, but...
The first two entries into this library were great, but this book did not live up to my expectations. Some of the advice given was outdated, and sometimes just plain wrong.I have used it a bit, and I do read the monthly chapters as my child ages, but I would not use it as my primary source of information, and certainly not as my sole source of information. ... Editorial Review

This clear and valuable book dispels a variety of myths about attention deficit disorder (ADD). Since both authors have ADD themselves, and both are successful medical professionals, perhaps there's no surprise that the two myths they attack most persistently are: Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Well Written
This book was suggested to me ater recently being diagnosed with ADHD. Anyone who has a brother, sister, child, mother or friend with ADHD should read this book. Because it is so well written it gives the reader real insight into how the ADHD mind intereprets and responds to everyday activities. Books like this one will help to dispell the myth that ADHD= "hyperactive, over drugged kids who refuse to pay attention" and "lazy, irresponsible adults looking for excuses".

5-0 out of 5 stars This should be required reading to get a prescription!!!
It's simple, any parent filling a prescription for any ADD medication for thier child should have to first read this book or any other written by Dr. Hallowell. My son was diagnosed 9 years ago and I knew I connected with him better than anyone else but I didn't know why. Since 1 year ago I was diagnosed I started to understand but until I read this book and a couple of others (I think I have close to 15 ADD books) and realized what A.D.D really is I didn't get it. I'm not sure someone who is not gifted with A.D.D will ever really get it but if they read more books like this one maybe they would at least understand a little more and minimize the damage created by trying to fit the child into their small world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing

5-0 out of 5 stars Helps me understand myself and my child
This book is "worth it" for the brief section on recognizing that sometimes one may be trying to raise the child one wishes one had, or assumed/imagined one would have, or it would be easier on one if one had -- rather than the kid one actually has. This book helped me realize that she and I have very different temperaments (which is wonderful) and that this is at the root of many of the conflicts and disappointments we've had in her four years of life so far.It also shed light on why my relationship with my own mom continues to be so fraught. My all-time favorite books (and movies, poems, tv shows, etc.) are ones where I am stunned to recognize myself in them somewhere. My experience of this book definitely puts it in that category!I also find useful Kurcinka's idea that thinking about how the "more" traits encompassed by spiritedness are things we positively value in adults can transform my interaction with my child. It reminds me to stop wanting to change her by lowering her intensity, sensitivity, perceptiveness, persistence and energy.

5-0 out of 5 stars For parents who's child is More...
If you have a "More" child (more emotional, more energetic, more enthusiastic, more easily angered, etc) you know how tough it can be to deal with it. This book is a pretty good guide to get you started and help you guide the child through those emotional currents. It's not easy to parent a spirited child but neither is it easy to BE a spirited child. Kurcinka's book helps provide a lot of guidance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Strongly recommended for any parent whose child is "more"
This book has done more than anything else to help me understand my spirited child. Coming from two introverted, laid-back parents, her personality was a complete surprise and we really didn't know how to handle it. I learned why my spirited child recharges and behaves the way she does, and from that we were able to develop ways to nurture her own personality while guiding her to acceptable behavior. While every day is still a challenge, I'm able to see the forest for the trees when her intensity and persistence will do her well in life. This book made me go from feeling like I'm the only parent in the world who is feeling so challenged to one who knows how to work with it. I strongly recommend it to any parent whose child is "more." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Read About the Power of Print to Change Lives
Books change lives and the stories in this title bear repeated witness of this fact. In each chapter, a well-known author talks about the power of the printed page to transform life. Each story is different and unique to the individual. I love this book and discovered new insights into several authors who I appreciate.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Interesting Look At What People Read And Why
I've read a number of books and articles about reading. I love to read and find it fascinating to see what others read and how the books have influenced their lives. More often than not, the list includes the same titles. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and THE CATCHER IN THE RYE are usual favorites. GREAT EXPECTATIONS and THE BROTHERS KARAMAZOV are often mentioned by more adventurous readers and of course, a work of Shakespeare has to be included on such a list. I planned on passing by YOU'VE GOT TO READ THIS BOOK since I figured I already know what's going to be in it, but when I looked in the back of the book, glanced at the titles, I was impressed by the variety of contributors, the wide array of books selected, and the stories that followed. Each contributor selects a book, tells a pers
