5-0 out of 5 stars a must-have classic!
I don't like giving out 5 stars but this book deserves them! NOT intended for beginners, this book is the only English source for information on the "jings" or skills involved in practicing real taiji. I reallylike how the author separates the translation from his commentary. Thismakes it easier to know who is saying what. An excellent reference, especially for those trying to understand how to perform correct tui shou. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Treasure House of Methods Made Simple
I found this book the most helpful in all my studies of Chinese Life-Energy. For example, concerning health--(I have high blood pressure)--one exercise (Swallowing the Qi) lowers my systolic rate 20 to 40 points in two seconds! I know this sounds impossible, but I swear I'm telling the truth.1-0 out of 5 stars Pass

5-0 out of 5 stars A Book ThatActually Delivers
If you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner of the arts, I highly recommend that you give this book a serious look. I very seldom recommend books, but this one works. I've personally experienced the benefits. I've also seen people from the different arts try exercises from this book in public and seen for themselves that this book delivers. You've never experienced the feeling of chi flowing through your body? Try this book. You will see results for yourselves within the first or second day of practice. Nothing comes without effort, but with a sincere try with this book you'll stir your chi.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Book with Clear Instructional Format
I have browsed through a number of T'ai Chi instructional books, but none compare to the quality of this one.Every movement of the T'ai Chi form is clearly demonstrated with numerous, full-body photographs and detailed written instructions.Correlations are also given between the form's movements and a section of "basic moves" which help train the basic movement patterns of T'ai Chi.I love that the "basic moves" section even includes written descriptions and pictures of common mistakes! In the book, the author also covers some basic warm-up techniques and other essential aspects of T'ai Chi such as breathing. It's amazing how much she packed in to 160 beautiful and inspirational pages.5-0 out of 5 stars Best Tai Chi Book I've Ever Seen

I usually don't write reviews about the books I bought, but I felt that I should do it about this one after reading the amazing review from the "avid reader".
5-0 out of 5 stars A True Master
I am in awe of this man who calls himself Luk Chun Bond, it could be James Bond for all we know, who is a true master of the martial arts that not many can even begin to realise just what it takes to become one. Just read his book, The First 16 Secrets of Chi, and you will have a idea of what it means to sacrifice your life to what you believe in, no matter what field of endeavour you attempt to achieve. And to think he once shared part of his art for free, for years and years to whomever and whatever, no questions ask, just come and be healthy and happy, unheard of in this age of money, money and more money. Read the book first, then you will have a small idea of what this "man" is all about. By the way I had my book autographed which to me is priceless.

75 five-star reviews??? And all of them from first-time reviewers, many of whom seem to be struggling with english and making the identical mistakes, and each of them writing reviews of roughly the same length, and most of them reporting miracle cures for some ailment of other??? Puh-leeze. Instant healing just does NOT happen with Qigong. It's not supposed to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dynamic Healing
Dynamics of Qigong Healing presents a system of releasing negative "karma" through relaxed movement sequences that are said to allow elimination of harmful dense or heavy retained energy mainly via the arm and leg meridians, restoring free flow and balancing of energy. This in turn permits the body's natural innate healing to occur, lessening or eliminating current diseases and heading off potential diseases that might manifest in the future. The set of movements is referred to as the hexagram (6-sided figure) dance, although the illustrated figure is an octagon (8-sided).Several additional releasing movements are also illustrated. The explanation and detailed illustration of how to perform the movements is reasonably laid out and easy to understand.A VHS video of the movements is also available separately. I attended a one-day workshop presented by Chok C. Hiew, PhD and personally experienced the effects that the movements have in releasing tension. He recommends that three sets of the movements be performed daily. With continued persistent use, these are said to be capable of slowly dissolving layers of traumatically trapped dense energy. I have noted brief moderate improvement after each set of movements, with the beginnings of more general improvement with longer-standing use. It is said to take months or several years of practice to obtain optimal benefits. To work, this process has to become a long-term or lifelong routine rather than a fad that is started and then dropped to run after the next fad. In summary, I strongly recommend this book to those who seek a simple, yet effective, means of releasing trapped dense energy which allows restoration of health and who also have sufficient commitment and self-discipline and follow-through to persist long enough to benefit.

This book was my first Tai Chi book, and so I still believe it has some merit. I believe it brings up many valid points which will be very useful for American readers, and the book serves as a good introduction. However,it is an imperfect method in description of the postures and pales incomparison to books by masters of many years. The book I would most suggestto anyone is Complete Tai-Chi by Master Alfred Huang. ... Read more

If you want to know about Chi and how to use it, then this book is for you.I have read quite a few books on the subject. Some are very good, some are not. This is one of the very good reference books. It provides the reader with a lot of essential information on how to develope and utilize Chi. Plus, it presents a great overview of the history and development of Chi understanding. This book is an imporant resource in anyone's library who wants to learn about Chi.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Chi Kung primer, theory and exercises for the beginner
Chi energy, the universal energy that permeates the universe, can be accessed for health, physical energy, and spiritual energy by anyone willing to regularly perform a few simple exercises. This is the basis for the book "Chi Kung for Beginners".Chi Kung is the Chinese science of how to access and use this energy.Instead of lacking physical and mental energy you will learn to access boundless energy almost effortlessly.Besides the details of several specific techniques, the book also has an appendix that covers the most important figures in the history of Chi Kung as well as various theoretical foundations. For the beginner to Chi Kung this provides a sound basic understanding without a lot of fluff or diversions to other unrelated topics that is common in so many books of this type."Chi Kung for Beginners" is a recommended read. ...
