5-0 out of 5 stars What a beautiful book!
I really enjoyed all of these 10 minute routines, especially the Morning Stretch--what a great way to start the day!The routines are easy to follow and easy to do while watching TV or taking a break from work. This is also a great book for golfers.Since I've been practicing yoga, I no longer have back pain either during or after my round of golf.Highly recommended. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tai Chi in a Chair
This book is written with clear, concise instructions. It also gives quality background, research, historical data of T'ai Chi.The book outlines the health benefits gained when following a simple fifteen minute seated T'ai Chi exercise program. The exercise regiment contained within these pages can be used by anyone regardless of age or health handicap.Beginners as well as those who participate in daily exercise routines will reap the benefits of involving themselves in an exercise program using T'ai Chi in a Chair. It will allow muscles to gain flexibility without causing injury to the participant.I was amazed at how well the author accomplishes the task of instructing the reader in a simple, uncomplicated manner.Investing in this work is an investment in health. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I found this book very helpful for my particular situation--I have health issues preventing me from doing much standing and/or movement right now.I'm starting my energy practice, literally, from the ground up and I've found the seated chi kung exercises to be most helpful.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as his other books
This book describes the sitting qigong exercises, but it doesn't provide good explanations why you should be doing them and it doesn't describe benefits of each exercise.

TABLE OF CONTENTS: Stretching Time; How to Use This Book; How to Meditate;Breathing and Moving; What Is OM?; Five-Minute Session; Daily Relaxation; Fifteen-Minute Session; Thirty-Minute Session; Sixty-Minute Session; Ninety-Minute Session; Dedicating Your Practice; Glossary
4-0 out of 5 stars Handy for the experienced beginner
I love that this book has practices from 5-90 minutes but the instructions and illustrations may be too succinct for some. For instance, the locust pose has virtually no instructions and the stick figure just barely illustrates the pose. The poses generally don't mention modifications beyond the advice to bend the knees in forward bending if you're inflexible. For those with some experience the pared down written instructions and stick figures may be sufficient cues for practicing.
4-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but needs supplementation
I bought this as a beginning yoga practitioner and have used it extensively, particularly for the 15 and 30-minute sessions. I haven't tried the longer sessions yet for one reason: I lose the flow of the poses when I have to flip back and forth between the portion that shows all poses and the portion that shows each pose in more detail. Do I inhale or exhale here? It doesn't say in the section showing many poses, so I have to stop, flip back to the details, then start again. Sounds minor and it is, but it (and occasionally confusing drawings, as with "Threading the Needle") are drawbacks to what is otherwise a very useful book. I particularly like the spiral binding so the book lies open for easy reference during practices. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You're just like a forest fire waiting to happen!
Five years ago I read the Spark 2000 book.I had let myself develop a "low activity" life.I used my children and husband as an excuse for me being too "busy" to work out. Then one day when I was playing with my children one of them jumped and landed on my belly.I reminded them about mommies "bo bo line", from a C-section.Then I sat up and realized that my excuse was sitting next to me and she was 2 now.It took that one spark to at least get me to the book store to buy a book about getting started. When I read the first few pages of the book I realized that I had to get moving if I wanted to change anything.I read the book with a friend.Within one year, we were running road races and having a great time.I have kept up with the stretching, cardio, and strength training.Five years and four dress sizes later I just completed my first Marathon, yep 26.2 miles.3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept
So far I am intrigued by the Doctor's concept, and like the idea of interval training.I do not agree with some of his dietary theories in relation keeping all meals lowfat and not counting calories.I eat a mediterranean diet which is working beautifully for me, as well as being very conscious of portion control.I think the author might do well in updating his nutritional information. However having said that, the book is fairly well laid out, and his self tests are excellent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book
I thought the fitness plan was wonderful. Everyone has time for 10 minute workouts, but at the same time remembering to do 15 a week was a little difficult for me. So I do two back to back (for a 20minute workout) and end up with 16 one week and 14 the next. I was, though, greatly disturbed by the blashemous review written by a reader from memphis: "A good fitness plan, but the bad language by Karla Dougherty is offensive. She takes God's name in vain and puts it in print. I hate that, and I am sure God doesn't like it either." No one can speak for God but Himself. He has said He will forgive all sins if He is asked to, I'm sure Ms Dougherty will come to her senses and repent her mistakes. It is also against everything Jesus Christ taught to hate anyone for ANY reason. It is not our place to judge them or their mistakes. That having been said, I hope everyone ignores Ms Dourherty's language, as well as the blasphemous review of this book, and buys it anyway, it is a wonderful program. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The only sure fire way to lose weight and change your body
I bought another one Brad Schoenfeld's books and was really pleased with the exercises and attitude it presented. If you're really serious about changing the way you look, either of his books can get you started down the path to weight training. I really recommend anything he's written.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK IS AWESOME-IT REALLY WORKS!!
I have tried everything to trim and tone my body but nothing has given me results like this book has!!!I started noticing changes in my body in only two weeks. The exercises vary, so you don't get bored, and you only have to work out for 15-20 min. every other day.(they recommend 48 hrs rest between workouts in the book)!!!I LOVE IT!!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO OTHERS!

5-0 out of 5 stars Delivers as promised after a learning curve
This book is great for the busy person who really wants to include a full yoga experience in their daily life. The author breaks the 20 minute workout into a 2 minute breath section, 3 minute warmup section, 8 minute yoga posture section, and an 8 minute relaxation/meditation section. It offers a basic workout, a challenging one, plus specialized workouts for during pregnancy, for athletes, for people with low back pain, and more.
1-0 out of 5 stars yoga in denial
What do I say about someone who indulges in denail of yoga's greatness and tries to popularise it. The author has no understanding of yoga's roots, its philosophy and spirituality. Here are a list of things she might advocate:

4-0 out of 5 stars Try this before you buy yourself that expensive exercise machine.
This program is simple indeed: 10 minutes of brisk walking or simple aerobic stepping, followed by 5 minutes of strength and flexibility routines usingtwo-5 lb. dumbells.Plus lots of good motivational advice. This is the minimum program-you can expand it by speeding up the walk, adding arm movements to the steps, more weight to the dumbells, or by adding a few more strength and flexibility routines. This author makes no presumptions about your physical abilities-if you need to start working out on a bed instead of the floor, he provides you with the basic tools and urges you to get started.I bought a perfectly good copy from one of Amazon's associated stores for a few dollars: I am doing it every day, and it really works for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars simple but useful
it is especially for people who aren't used to move a lot, for people who live a very sedentary life. and the book makes it very easy for them to change this life style into an active one. the workout routine it suggests is extremely easy to follow and helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Step-by-step illustrations demonstrate just how to do them
Don't have time to exercise? The last of the good excuses is gone with this guide to 15-minute, no-sweat workouts presenting 10 minutes of aerobic activity, 4 minutes of strengthening exercises, and 1 minute of stretches. Step-by-step illustrations demonstrate just how to do them, case history successes link exercises to positive results, and the author comes with credentials: he's directed the Occupational Health and Fitness program at the U.S. DOT for the past twenty-five years, and presented extensive seminars to business and government groups alike. With Quick Fit: The Complete 15-Minute No-Sweat Workout, even those who are most pressed for time have no excuse now.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good exercises and a great book
This book is easy to understand, it does explain things and how to do the exercises. This is not rocket science, I don't see how other books would be much better. And there is nothing wrong with using a model to show the exercises. Geeezzzz

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BOOK!
This book is very detailed especially the drawings of the face showing you every muscle being worked. I haven't had this book long, but look forward to some very exciting results. If you have just five mins a day this book is for you. I just incorporate it with my daily workouts. Why not workout your face just like you workout your body, it makes perfect sense. Everything the author says about working out your facial muscles like you workout your body's muscles is so true! I have been working out with weights for years and know first hand what good toned muscles can do for your body and it's appearance. So pick up a copy you will be glad you did!
4-0 out of 5 stars I have had this book and used it off and on for the last
year. One thing that impressed me about this book is that it actually addresses the issue of line formation from doing facial exercises. Thus, it tells you where to place your fingers to prevent the formation of artificial lines.None of the other facercise books or tapes do that. However, you have to picture some of the exercises since the book doesn't explain how to do some of them.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great variety of effective workouts!
After learning that cardio mixed with mild strength training is a more effective way to loose weight, I began searching for a book that combined the two.First I tried the T-Tapp Method, and I believe that would work great but I was nervous about performing the exercises without proper training and demonstration and it was recommended not to do any other workout programs including cardio. So I decided to try this one.I love it.I still get to do my cardio on my elliptical trainer and upright bike, which makes my hubby happy that they're not collecting dust anymore! Then, one day a week I work on my upper body, one on my lower, then flexability (stretching, etc.), then one day I can decide and Sunday has ideas for relaxing for 15 minutes.I can do my workout first thing in the morning and I've been pretty conistent.I've been using this technique for just over three weeks.I've done three different lower body workouts, and everytime I can feel the results in a different set of muscles, and that feels great! There are pictures for every exercise and the directions are very thorough. The only items you need are some dumbells and either a yoga ball or a weight bench and you can perform all the workouts.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good quick book about quick exercise...
This book is well laid-out, done in a easy to refer to day-by-day format, designed for those of us with both time & fitness challenges. A good motivator, too, since - really - who doesn't have 15 minutes a day they can direct towards a little preventative"healthcare" when its all therefor you?

4-0 out of 5 stars I can do anything for 15 minutes
I am a working mother of two preschoolers, and I was gaining weight because I could no longer manage to fit my 1 1/2 hour gym workouts into my schedule. I bought a treadmill a few months ago (with a lot of help from treadmilldoctor.com) and I still couldn't fit in the 45 minutes I felt I needed to use it - maybe 3 or 4 times aweek - to replicate at least part of my gym workouts of yesteryear.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT
I personally have never been one to exercise. I LOVE this book. Sure, it's only 8 minutes but it really works. I have been doing this plan for a little over a month and have lost over 13 pounds so far. It really works if you stick w/ it. You might not think it's a real workout at first but keep doing it. It really does motivate you to keep doing it and to start doing other exercises. I now do extra exercises in the evening. I haven't felt this good in YEARS!!!Try it for the entire 28 days and you WILL see a difference.

3-0 out of 5 stars Compassion
For those who find this kit way too easy....some people can not even get out of bed, they are so overweight. These folks would benefit tremendously form something that starts with these exercises. Granted the title of the kit could be reworded....maybe for people who have 100 or more pounds to shed... :)

I bought this because I have more than 30lbs to lose.I lost 40 lbs last year on Weight Watchers and kept it off, but I knew I lost muscle and needed to start building some if I hoped to lose the rest of my weight.I am a BIG fan of this program, I like the eating plan and I like the 8 minutes of exercises.I'm a mom with 2 kids under 3 and have very little time to exercise so this is great for me.Even I can find 8 minutes :).

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy-to-read book with a good workout, and eating advice.
This workout is great, although you may want to do ALL the designated warm-up exercises at the beginning of the workout, in order to avoid wasting time picking up and putting down the dumbbells between sections. If you do this I think it would be much easier to get the workout time down to where the book claims it should be.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Workout ...but you need more time
I bought this book because I have the 12-minute Total Body Workout by Vedral and I wanted to see if she had updated her excercises.I was very pleased with this book, the exercises are easy to learn and they work! However, there is no way you can do it in 8 minutes a day without sacrificing proper movement and form.Plan on spending between 15 and 20 minutes per day for four days, 30-40 minutes per day for two days, or about 1 1/2 hours for one day.In the 12-Minute book, you did 2 body parts, 2 exercises each, for 3 reps.In this book, it's 3 body parts, at least 3 exercises each, 3 reps each plus stretching. How on earth did she think you could do it in 8 minutes?

5-0 out of 5 stars highly recommended
I bought the hardcover edition of this book used from Amazon and am very pleased with it.This is a very readable book, with most things clearly explained. When I say 'most', I mean that I still have questions as to WHY the pyramid method works better than other methods, and I also think it should be explained WHY the exact order of the workout matters (by body part, not by specific individual exercises within a body-part group).I am confused too because other books say to constantly vary your routine or to even change it completely every other week, where-as this book says that you must follow this exact routine every time.Aside from those points of confusion, the explanatory material is quite good. The work-out itself is excellent, and well suited to the woman who prefers a good at-home dumb-bell workout.Joyce must have the routine memorized, and do it without any rest periods at super-speed in order to finish within the time she says it will take.I have the extra time to put into it, so that is not a problem. If your goal is to build bone to prevent osteoporosis, this is a great program, or even if you just want to have a nice dumb-bell routine to build strength and re-shape, I also recommend it. ...
