2-0 out of 5 stars not a yoga guide
This book is not about how to do yoga. It is not for a beginning yoga student. It is probably of interest more to the yogini who has been practicing for some time and is now pregnant. It may be of interest to Iyengar followers as the photos are all of Iyengar's daughter when she was days before delivering her boy. This is a philosphy book, not a how-to book. The prose is spaced more like poetry so there isn't a lot of content in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing,magical
The Yoga in this book is not accessible to all,but just looking at the pictures and reading the text is enough to transport you to a whole new realm, a peaceful, calming, happy place where pregnancy and birth are no longer a burden or a physical challenge, but a beautiful natural state to be celebrated and embrassed, that you can tame and enjoy. Leboyer was not only the leading ob-gyn when it comes to natural childbirth, but also a man who understood and loved Women, their needs and their abilities while pregnant. This book was made while working with Vanita Iyengar, the beautiful daughter of the famous Yoga Guru, and the pictures are out of this world. The Poetry is so inspiring and calming,it works almost like hypnosis...

3-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book, if not very helpful.
The photography and poetry/prose in this book is phenomenal! However, if you are looking for a quality, practical book in yoga during pregnancy this isn't it.There are no descriptions nor illustrations of specific poses. It would be very difficult for someone with limited or no experience withyoga to pick up this book and find it useful. For a more practical book onyoga during pregancy I would recommend _Yoga for Pregnancy : Safe andGentle Stretches_ by Sandra Jordan. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars watch your body transform - again!
No longer will friends receive an adorable outfit or spa certificate upon their return from the hospital. I will be giving every new mom I know Ms. Adamany's book Post-Pregnancy Pilates. I was introduced to Pilates prior to my pregnancies and have successfully managed to return to pre-pregnancy (minus a few pounds) weight in six months, and am feeling fantastic. That said, I recently quit my job to spend more time with my wee ones and have no income to support private sessions or expensive classes.
5-0 out of 5 stars ABsolutely FABulous
As a Certified Pilates Instructor, I recommend this book to all of my clients who are mothers (recent or not so recent). They love that it is easy to read and understand. From a trainer's perspective this is important for motivation and the ability to stick with a program that needs to be squeezed in between feeding time and bath time. Adamany -based on her own personal experience - covers the absolute fundamental basics needed to re-discover the core muscles that are so abused during pregnancy and delivery. Once some abdominal awareness is regained, she does a great job progressing the reader through more challenging exercise sequences while also leaving room for "quick-fix" exercises, say a simple neck or lower back stretch. Please enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars fit body after baby
I purchased this book for my 2 daughter-in-laws who have recently had babies. They love the approach Adamany takes to getting back in shape - using personal experience and giving extra tips with each chapter. The clear instructions and photos make it easy to follow. I use her first book - The Pilates Edge - and have found it helpful especially for biking and skiing. ... Read more

Always looking for practical solutions, I found that the Ayurvedic principles to deal with the misery of Morning Sickness were particularly useful. And loved the yoga positions too!

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this book
This book takes you on a journey to the spiritual side of pregnancy and childbirth. For my second pregnancy the last thing I needed was another book telling me what stage of development my fetus was at.This book takes a look at all the deeper emotional things that are going on.

5-0 out of 5 stars How the Audio Book Differs From The Print Book
This is an abridged version of THE MOTHER OF ALL PREGNANCY BOOKS (which means that you're getting an "edited down" version of the original book, read by a narrator, rather than the full 550-page book). That would make for a pretty long audio book, after all. Just thought I should clarify that.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good to fill in the gaps
This is not a comprehensive book.It goes over some things other pregnancy books don't tell you, and makes things seem less scary.I'd recommend it if you've been reading things like "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and feeling a little overwhelmed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Antenatal exercise
This book, part of a scientific research series, focuses on the effect that antenatal exercise has on psychological well being, pregnacy and birth outcome. It provides a comprehensive review of the literature to date. In particular, there is a very interesting and easy to read section on the history of exercise in obstetrics throughout the centuries. There is a section on the practicalities of exercise classes and the author describes the physiological and anatomical changes that occur during pregnancy. The study itself is detailed, well controlled and addresses the gaps in many previous exercise studies. Overall, I found this a very easy to read book and recommend it for anyone interested in the field of exercise during and following pregnancy. ... Read more

This is a good book. It gives detailed descriptions of all the exercises as well as some photos. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not much there
I'm a yoga teacher, about to teach a prenatal class.I bought this book because Judith Lasater is an excellent teacher and I hoped to get some ideas for my class. The 23 pages of this book devoted to prenatal yoga were quite helpful.I just expected more. This is billed as a Rodmell Press "Yoga Shorts" and it is. The book would probably be most helpful for a pregnant woman who is new to yoga. She would learn 6 poses, 3 of them supported. For everyone else, I'd recommend going with Lasater's RELAX AND RENEW. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Fine for Pilates rookies
This book describes exercises that seem closer to Yoga than traditional Pilates.I practiced traditional Pilates for 10 months prior to becoming pregnant and the exercises described were a big step backward for me.If you are new to the principles of Pilates, this is a good place to learn the basics of the "Powerhouse".However, I haven't heard great things about the Winsor or Green/King books either.I'd suggest finding a certified Pilates instructor to guide you through Pilates during pregnancy if you want to get the maximum benefit.Traditional instructors can be found at www.pilates-studio.com.You may also find instructors in your area that are certified by Stott or Physical Mind Institute. Both of these alternate methods offer variations to what is termed "Authentic" Pilates. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for pregnant mothers
I was recommended this book by my yoga teacher, an Indian woman from Rajastan, who has devoted her whole life to yoga. It is truly a great book. It has clear explanations of all processes that happen in woman's body in pregnancy, helps you understand your body and mind during pregnancy and helps you fix the basic troubles you might have in pregnancy, like bad posture, week pelvic muscles or backpain with simple tips. Being in the second half of my pregnancy, I used the advice from this book on daily bases and have no backpain or other troubles so far. In addition I think yoga makes you be more "with" yourself, so you can feel and be calm about your changes, and I think you can connect to your baby much better. I am pregnant for the first time, but felt the first movements of my baby already since week 15.
5-0 out of 5 stars any question about pregnancy? here is the answer
I am reviewing this book for my website - www.soloyoga.com - as it is a book I recommend for the yoga teacher training I conduct in Milano Italy. As yoga teachers we have also pregnant women in normal classes and have to take care of their condition with the do and do nots. The anatomical illustrations are very clear and what is especially helpful is how the author stresses the role of the partner, who is also active in the whole process. excellent the suggestions for labour and what happens after, I have given this book to more than one pregnant student and of course my own daughter mother of 3! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Book is Annoying
I found the exercise plan to be a little too complicated and hard to stick with.I was constantly having to check the book for how many sets and reps I was supposed to do.If your as sleep deprived as I am you can understand it is difficult to remember when it changes on a weekly basis.I bought a pilates video and it was much easier to do and had faster overall results.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not Great
The moves in this book are great, but they are hard to do on a continual basis. Keeping up with it is hard. Not seeing progress is even the main reason I gave up. I did Denise Austin's bounce back after baby and it does what this book does 3x over. She knows what she is doing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Really ticked off my wife...
I bought this book nearly 3 years ago, and I only recently got out of the doghouse. If you're a husband, don't make the mistake of buying this for your wife - she might throw it at you after reading the title - the infered implication being that you think she's fat now that she's had, or is having, a baby. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars This book really shines with it's postnatal exercise program
The book includes exercises for the entire 9 months of pregnancy plus a 5-month postnatal exercise plan. The exercises in this book are easily done at home with minimal equipment (some exercises require light handweights.)There are plenty of photos (though not every exercise has aphoto) and good explanations on how to do each exercise.I found theexercises challenging, but not too difficult to do.The prenatal exercisesare good, but this book's strong point is the postnatal exercise section. You are virtually guaranteed to get your body back if you follow the plan! The book does a lot of name-dropping and tellsabout various celebritiesand their experiences trying to keep fit during pregnancy. It's supposedto be encouraging, but I found it kind of annoying. This book is strictlyabout exercise. There are not a lot of pregnancy tips like you find inDenise Austin's pregnancy exercise book or physiological information (seeEssential Exercises for the Childbearing Year). If your'e serious aboutgetting back in shape after baby, then this book is worth seriousconsideration. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Idea
Herrera's workouts are a great way to stay in shape while pregnant, and a great way to share the experience of pregnancy with your partner in a new way.My husband and I found this book after I had been feeling tired and unhealthy because I was no longer able to continue my usual, non-pregnant workout. We started using Herrera's book guidelines for excercising together and things have been going so well! We're both feeling healthier and more energetic -- as well as having another way to spend time together during this very exciting period in our lives -- it's our first! This book is a must have for all expectant couples.
