Marathon Running
People become runners for many reasons, and these reasons are too numerous to list. People tend to get bit by the running "bug" in a similar fashion as the golfing "bug" bites, but running seems to have more of an addictive nature to it. Along with this addictive nature of running is the competitive nature of running itself, for as with most white-collar workers he is an achiever and he tends to set goals for himself. For many runners the goal is the marathon, and once this goal has been reached, a new goal known as the personal record in a maraton is set. For some marathon runners the personal goal is one that can be set several times.
