4-0 out of 5 stars You Will Use It
This is an excellent book. I have several different stretch books, as I find I need variety, but this and the NYC ballet are my favourites. Leave them lying around so your daughter remembers to give you your workout :) Wharton's is good too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!The Best!
The photography illustartions are superb!!The exercise instructions are easy to read and follow. This is a must have book!

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST exercise book I have ever read.
The Supple Body is simply the best exercise book I have ever read. It is written in an easy-to-read style. There were plenty of photographs. This is the one book I would take with me anywhere. You don't need much space. ALL the exercises are do-able for an average person. The book combines stretching, yoga, and calisthenic exercises. No special equipment ( other than an ordinary kitchen chair ) is required. There are different routines to for varying time commitments and busy schedules. Even if you do other forms of exercise (weights, aerobics ), I would heartily recommend this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A straightforward, "reader friendly" guide
Written by Tarthang Tulku (a man who has been educated in Tibet in the Buddhist Tradition, and who has devoted himself to teaching and publishing rare Tibetan texts, as well as founding the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, California in 1973), Tibetan Relaxation: Kum Nye Massage And Movement is a straightforward, "reader friendly" guide to Buddhist physical and spiritual health and wellness practices and techniques that trace their origins to 8th-century Tibetan texts. Full color illustrations, photographs, and diagrams combine with meticulous instructions to introduce readers of all backgrounds and experience levels to the positive benefits of an ancient mediational wisdom. 5-0 out of 5 stars "I Hate To Exercise Book" by Charlotte Hayes
Charlotte Hayes presents the virtues and importance of exercise in a very thorough yet simplified format. The primary theme she emphasizes is to "stay active". Forget the quick fix solution and make a commitment to a long term lifestyle change. Lifestyle changes are paramount to staying fit, not strenuous exertion. She offers practical suggestions for incorporating exercise into day to day activities. Set achievable goals and build on them. The basic principals of exercise are the solution to most health problems. An extremely well written book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Secrets of the Myofascial Masters Revealed
In my opinion, this book should be read and reread by anyone who practices any form of myofascial pain medicine. Each chapter is written by a specialist. The secrets to unraveling multiple TrPs, treating the myofascial components of: whiplash; headaches; abdominal and pelvic pain; frozen shoulder; carpal tunnel and a multitude of other problems are clearly and specifically revealed. If you want to know which order to treat TrP-laden muscles and how to release difficult areas and so much more, it's here, waiting for you. This is one of my favorite books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb addition to the Myofascial Pain literature :-)
This book must take it's place amongst the significant works in Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction (Travell and Simons, Rachlin and Rachlin, and Baldry). A practical and helpful guide to clinical practice of this growing medical discipline. This book will be an excellent clinical reference for day to day treatment and for integrating Myofascial concepts into all forms of conventional approaches. It builds itself on up to date references. The chapters are designated by area and the addition of the case studies suggests application of principles. The multidisciplinary contributors to this book include the notable Dr Gerwin MD, Jan Dommerholt PT, Lucy White Ferguson DC, Roberta Shapiro DO, Mary Moloney PT.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book has changed my life!
The exercises in this book have definitely changed my life.I can remember better, focus better, and organize better.Although this book is geared toward helping children, I am over 40, and these exercises worked for me.I was diagnosed with ADD just a few years ago. This book is well-written, well organized, and very genuine in voice.I fully recommend this book to anyone who shows signs of this STNR reflex still bothering them.I believe this is a breakthrough in ADD and ADHD treatment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, A book that I think reveals a drug free solution to hyper active people.
Dr. Miriam Bender should be applauded for her tireless research in revealing a misunderstood subject/label "ADHD". I have completely read this book and have started using the exercises with my child with positive results so far. The author, Nancy E. O'Dell organizes and addresses the subject very clearly so any layman can completely understand. If you have a child with hyper activity and are sincerely looking to rid your child of medication, it is in my opinion that you should study this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars LIFE CHANGING BOOK!
After many therapies, medications, and exercises, we have finally found the underlying cause of our son's ADHD.This book clearly explains what some children miss in their early development. Then it shows you detailed exercises that can cure the problem, not just treat the symptoms!Although the exercises require a commitment, we saw results after only one week!At the end of the 8 month program, we had a "normal" child who was able to focus, sit still, and function completely typical for his age without medication!WONDERFUL! ... As a veteran dieter I am slow to jump on new diet plans. However, I quickly learned that Fat Flush is not just a new approach to weight loss but an attempt at a higher standard of nutritional health and well-being.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gittleman's Greatness, Then The Title
As usual, this book is very informative, so I give her three stars in that respect. Her books in general paint a splendid natural way to eat for health-conscious people that harkens to a time when organic food was the norm. Sometimes I slap myself when I realize what brave new world we exist in now when eating organic food is a luxury. Who knew that one day we would have to pay ridiculous prices to avoid eating hormone-pumped chickens allowed to sit and fatten in cages under artificial light while being fed animal byproducts to boot? "Organic" food now costs two to three times more than conventional food.

This book is terrific for physical therapists and others looking for new ideas in how to remediate balance issues in their patients. The organization, by system, is terrific, and the progression of activities and exercises brillant. Dr. Rose has included the strongest balance measures and even provided a "cheat-sheet" to help make the transition from functional problem to specific exercise. This is a must read for anyone treating balance problems. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a genuine classic
Although Alexander's writing style is spectacularly convoluted by today's standards, anyone who patiently reads through this book will come to appreciate what a gem it is! With this work, Alexander presented an explicit technology by which you can gain access to your unconscious processes, and program them effectively. In one of the most important works of the twentieth century, Alexander here opens up the whole field of "learning how to learn", in an unprecedented way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and Effective
This book guides you through few basic, simple and effective Taoist practices for transforming negative energy into positive; removing the the obstacles in your energy field.More advanced practice of transmutation of negative energy is covered in the book Fusion of the Five Elements, however before you'd work with that one, you'd have to learn Microcosmic Orbit first.
5-0 out of 5 stars The title says it all . . . .
This is a wonderful introduction to traditional Chinese medicine. The reader need have no previous experience with the subject, only an open mind. The techniques the author outlines are simple and very clearly explained, yet they are extraordinarily powerful. He obviously has tremendous experience in the field, and yet he has no trouble conveying what is important in a very practical way.I would recommend this book for anyone who is suffering from stress and/or anyone who feels not "in synch" with their body.

5-0 out of 5 stars The world needs more of this
I work in the fitness industry as well as dance. I see how important dynamic alignment is to do ANYTHING in dance and I think the general population needs a deeper understanding of it. I struggle with my balance and this book has been a wonderful tool to help me improve my technique.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dynamite!
This is a really good resource for alternate approaches to body alignment and integrative structure.A different approach with much promise.Worth the read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Live with gravity not against it.
I am a big fan of EricFranklin's books. As a dance instructor, not a fitness instructor, he is well aware of the finer points of human performance that are often overlooked by a society so focused on speed and strength.I would recommend this book for two groups of people. One is those studying anatomy.By going through the exercises, the major muscles and bones of the body can be learned on deeper and more useful level than simply by studying them in a book.Experiential learning is best in this case.Second, those with a strong ability to visualize, which doesn't include everyone.Alignment through visualization can be adifficult skill to learn.Having taught in a field similar to Franklin's, I know that not everyone has the internal sense to grasp the concepts here.

I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. 5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Valuable
Dr. Mayer brings numerous perspectives (Western psychologist, storyteller, student of Greek civilization) to his 30+ years of practice of Qigong to deliver an easy-to-read guide to this Chinese method of healing. His broad learning allows Dr. Mayer to share insights and ideas that help both novice and experienced practitioner obtain a deeper experience of the stances and movements that he clearly describes (with accompanying photos). His academic training shows through the logical and systematic development of ideas and exercises in the book. Overall, it was really easy to read, and also easy to use as a guide to various "sets" of Qigong methods for "bodymind healing". The appendices which give a guide to exercises for self-healing and research are useful for quick reference, as well. A great buy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Who Knew?
I learned a lot about how to keep my ospeopedia from progressing into osteoperosis.Who knew that walking did not help? This book claims that the key to preventing osteoporsis is weight training. The author provides six basic, progressive work-out progams which can be done at home.I was definitely inspired to try her approach to preventing bone loss.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT YOUR DOCTOR FORGOT TO TELL YOU!!
Like many people who are diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, I recived just about NO information from my doctor on how to improve bone health. It was just -- "take this pill and I'll see you at your annual physical."I was deeply upset that she had no information for me, provided almost no insight, and seemed vastly disinterested in providing any.I went out and looked for books to provide the information I needed.I found this book and couldn't be happier. In conjunction with Gillian Sanson's enlightening book "The Myth of Osteoporisis," this book should be in the hands of everyone who is interested in bone health.

Though a lot of the material on these CDs can also be found in his book "The Tao of Natural Breathing," there is something wonderful about actually hearing this information in the author's own voice, which is both vibrant and deeply relaxing. I've taken several workshops with the author, and this audio production from Sounds True gives a helpful sense of his presence. What's more, there are some great practices and meditations that are not included in "The Tao of Natural Breathing." ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A book your doctor can learn from
As a hypoglycemic, I am trying to find out what I can do to keep my blood sugar level.Dr. Murray provides the reader with more suggestions than just eating right and exercising. The addition of supplements is very helpful. He also educates on the connection between hypoglycemia and diabetes. This is important for hypolycemics to know since it is very possible for this condition to turn into diabetes.5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to read, clear and to the point!!!!
I have low blood sugar and throughout the past few years I have read many books on the subject of sugar. In fact tonight I was reading; The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program. As I was reading this book I was getting frustrated at how wordy the book was and how wordy the other books had been that I had read before. The book by Michael T. Murray is clear and to the point. It's an easy read but invaluable for the information it conveys. It is definitely my favorite book and I have been recommending and purchasing it for friends and family for years.
