5-0 out of 5 stars Post-It's have taken over cause I bookmarked too many pages.
I own and use this book so often in my Art Therapy groups that this book is flooded with Post It notes. I do adapt most of the activity suggestions to make them fit each client population. The book is flexible and could be applied to youth, teen, or adult/senior populations. It is written and indexed in an easy-to-read manner based on the mode of therapy practiced. The suggestions themselves are general enough however do conveniently elaborate with bullet-marked suggestions for different ways to try out the various activities. So if you think you've worked with clay, perhaps you have not written an acoustic poem about it and then created an environment for the sculpture, etc. Several variations and ideas were new and fresh. Great book for the novice or for the seasoned professional who needs some help getting new ideas sparked up and fueled; a quick, easy (and relatively inexpensive) A.T. reference.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's worth enough to read
I'm Thai student of MA program in counseling psychology. I'm also a prationer of creative arts therapy. I found that this book is quite useful for the beginner of art therapy. This book offers many activities, exercises and games which you could adapt it in your own work. So Irecommend you to havethis book as your material.

3-0 out of 5 stars In between
Unlike the first 2 reviews of this book, my opinion falls somewhere in between. While this is not the most comprehensive or profound book on art therapy, it is a practical guide for practitioners who need lots of ideasfor group activities. How well they work depends on the skills and insightof the group leader, as well as the readiness of the group participants. One of my art therapy students bought this book recently and found it quiteuseful. For the more advanced practitioner, it might feel a bit too muchlike a recipe book. I recommend it as one tool in your art therapy toolbox. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not just for Cellists
This book is an excellent and precise treatment of the Alexander Technique.Although his examples are primarily for Cellists, Pianists, and singers, there's much that would apply to any musician.Occasionally academic, this book is well worth the patience.A moderate number of pictures are present.

3-0 out of 5 stars Stiff-necked
My teacher recommended this book as The Book To Read if I wanted to read a book about Alexander Technique as I was taking lessons. Obviously it's a book that works wonderfully for many people. I wasdisappointed, though. I found the book rigid and very dismissive of approaches the author didn't absolutely agree with, and obsessed with bolstering itself with citations and quotes. It almost deifies Alexander, and talks very specifically of positions etc. The impression I have of Alexander Technique from my lessons is completely different: it's about being open rather than closed to alternatives.5-0 out of 5 stars Musicians Read This!
Indirect Procedures stands by itself in the world of Alexander Technique books.Written by a cellist and Alexander teacher, it is the only book I know of exclusively devoted to musicians' issues. At the same time, it is a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practice of Alexander Technique with some photo illustrations. One caveat -Indirect Procedures is not light reading and this certainly sets it apart from most self-improvement books. It is thorough and detailed and very serious.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding introduction to the Alexander Technique!
If you have heard of the Alexander Technique, but don't know much about it, or have heard a brief description from a friend that has left you befuddled, this book is an excellent introduction. If this book is not your first contact with the technique, I still highly recommend it.I had been taking lessons in the Alexander Technique for about a year when I first read it, and it provide a great supplement to what I had already learned.I often refer back to it.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good book - works for me
I'm a golfer that has frequently had some degree of lower back pain.Suffered a severe lower back strain four months ago.Bought the book and started the routine after that.It has made a big difference for me.My back feels better than it has in years.I strongly recommend the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A GOOD WHIPPING
This is an excellent book for dealing with this common problem afflicting so many people but it doesn't explain why Pilate ordered Jesus to be whipped. That is definitely not the way to relieve back pain!

3-0 out of 5 stars Thoughtfulm, safe process, but does it work????
I felt that Dr. Vad's approach was safe and logical. He has you perform easy basic exercises for some time, and then graduate to more strenuous exercises.I must say, though, as someone is in pretty fair physical condition to begin with, I felt the exercises were too basic, and not at all challenging. There didn't seem to be an abundance of info on treatments or back pain causes either.I guess though, the real proof is, "Did it work? Did following the program letter for letter improve my back pain?"And, in my case, which of course is very individual, after following the program to the "T" for 8 weeks, it really did nothing me.Decent book, but I'm still looking for the magic bullet. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Useful to have a copy in the home
I fell and sprained my ankle shortly after buying this book and the advice on how to treat my ankle helped tremendously in my recovery. I was able to walk almost normally within a day! The book also gave helpful advice on how to develop good standing, sleeping and sitting posture in order to prevent back pains and I find these to be particularly useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reliable academic information, few flawed presentations
This book would have easily won five stars had its authors strived to respect the intelligence of its readers.Although the book mainly emphasizes body maintenance and repair, it presents extensive tips and exercises to do more than its title indicates. The major flaw with the book presentation is its authors' short-winded style of sloppiness and poor research.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Chunyi teaches, the energy vibrations of love, kindness and forgiveness are where the healing power comes from.
Qigong is an ancient practice in China, though it was outlawed during the Cultural Revolution and wasn't openly taught and practiced again until the late 1970s. Even so, much of the teaching is still closely guarded and revealed to only a select few. Qigong is based on the principle that everything is energy. The sky, the air, a rock, our bodies and even our thoughts are all forms of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed. Qigong teaches you how to transform energy for personal growth, health, healing and happiness. It involves a breathing technique, movements, mental focus and meditation. The basic concept of qigong is that energy balance is necessary for optimum health and wellness. When the body's flow of energy becomes blocked, then illness or complications can arise. The problem may be physical, mental or emotional. To resolve the problem, the energy blockage or blockages need to be removed, and the body's natural energy balance restored. Traditional qigong masters still teach their students that it is necessary to follow years of rigid adherence to very disciplined and often difficult techniques in order to experience the benefits of qigong practice and be able to assist others. This is how Chunyi Lin was taught.
5-0 out of 5 stars Looks promising
This book is convincing, and I plan to try his approach. I appreciate knowing his background and realize he can't teach the entire program in what is basically a book to get you interested and he gives you enough instruction to begin his program. If you are in a hurry, order one of his video courses at the same time. Otherwise, work with the book, see how it goes, and then order the videos. Some things need to be seen as well as described. The chapters where people tell their experience are extremely helpful. I also ordered a video and two CDs, and the CD that leads you through a breathing meditation is very helpful. I asked my Bowen Technique therapist about this specific appropach and she said it is very powerful.

4-0 out of 5 stars an inspiring read
a wonderful book to read any time, but especially when you are searching for answers to why you hurt and how you can help yourself and your family not hurt anymore.I love the idea that WE have the power to heal ourselves (some would say miraculously). We DO NOT have to feel dependant upon the "Gods" of medicine and pharmacies in order receive a false "cure"Heal yourself...for good!Read this book then make a way to go to one of his classes. It will change your life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Feldenkrais and his Method
This book was first published in Hebrew in the late 60s. At that time Moshe was 55 years old or so. He had already published a translation into Hebrew of Bruck's book about the autosuggestion method of the sensational Que, his own guide for unarmed combat, a couple of textbooks for Judo and his scientifically oriented "Body and Mature Behaviour" (1949). He had already written - but not published - a book aimed at a more popular presentation of his theory - The Potent Self (Published only in 1985). It was around that time that he began training the first generation of future practitioners of his method. It seems that he felt the time was ripe for his method to develop not solely under his own hands, that the method matured, so to say, to the degree of beginnig a gradually more and more independent life of itself.5-0 out of 5 stars More about the book

4-0 out of 5 stars It's difficult but well worth the effort.
The first time I read this book, it was such a daunting task I put down and saved it for a time when my intelligence was ready to 'understand' the instructions. If you're the equivilent of a college freshman in the science of movement this book will probably be something you want to save for a more advanced place in your progression.Or read it and get what you can...planning to come back to it over and over.If I hadn't seen and tried the method via videotapes and then in an actual seminar I probably wouldn't have given the book a chance at all.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource
The book is an excellent choice for anyone interest in the subject. I've bought and read 4 books on this subject (Complete Candida Yeast Guidebook by Jeanne Marie Martin, The Candida Albicans Yeast Free Cookbook by Pat Connolly, The Yeast Connection Cookbook by William Crook) but this one is the most conscise and yet it's offering all the answers. Dr. Murray offers a lot of suggestions on the diet and natural supplements that are essential for good health and boosting up an immune system. Medicine alone did not help me but combining the medicine with the diet recommendations found in this book showed results.

2-0 out of 5 stars I disagree
I bought this book since everyone was giving it 5 stars. The first part of the book was o.k., but then, it got into way too much detail. I found the descriptions of the cells, lymphs and technical names for every enzyme pretty boring. I had to make myself finish reading it. Buy it if you want to read every detail of the immune system. If you are like me and need something more basic, look on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chronic Candidiasis by Michael Murray

This is a great book as an encyclopedia dealing in the development and history of Chinese Chi Kung, at a practical level I prefer the tapes of Al.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I've been studying Qigong for a while now and credit Dr. Yang for most of my progress. His books and DVDs are packed with accurate and substantial information with good form and detail. However it is obvious that Dr. Yang did not write this by himself. No offense to Dr. Yang but he can barely speak English and while he is able to communicate effectively verbally he is not by any stretch of the imagination fluent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Like Magic - made a believer out of me
This book is amazing. For over a year I have scoffed at exercise as a way to recover from repetitive stress injuries. Then I read this book and followed the exercises. Not only has it improved the way my neck feels (a key factor in my RSI recovery), but I feel like I did when I was a child again when walking and moving around -- greater flexibility, no tension in my trunk, back, etc.(I am age 50). As far as my neck, this book is as valuable--or perhaps moreso--than a trip to the massage therapist. Incredible.
5-0 out of 5 stars gentle, simple movement that WORKS!
When first reading this book, I immediately found myself wondering if this simple, straight-forward approach could really work? ...it sure did!! I live with a neuromuscular disease and this is the only addition I made to my wellness routine and worked with it for a year...with phenomenal results! I have sensation back, I'm walking, I just feel better in-touch with my body, better able to work "with" it. 4-0 out of 5 stars Fact or fiction
As a diabetic I found the information interesting. The author was patting himself on his back abit to often. I had a hard time understanding his examples. It was like useing the word your defining as an example. Over all the book contained pertenant information. The book also offered good advice and warnings about the drugs and the food we eat. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What works?
Picked this book up with a few other to gain more information on my on and off again back problems. You know how it is if you are thinking of getting this type of book. You went to all the doctors in your town and tried all the exercisesthey give you to do on the floor. I even spent thousands on massage therapy, a that helpedfor a while. But every time I went to exercise my back would hurt again. Well this is the year, I am not getting any younger, so I bought a collection of books over the last month and this is one of them i recommend for people who are tired of thier pain and want to do something about it. The other books are on exercises that have helped mevery much and I am not running out of exercises to do.Good luck, hope this helps

4-0 out of 5 stars Exercising
If you need to start somewhere then this book will help you to exercise away your pain. If you already workout then this book will not give you the type of workout to improve your condition. This was given to me as a gift and I did pick up a few good pointers. ... Read more

There are so many good and bad reviews for this book. Could people who have had/haven't had results please e-mail me at Bugaroma278@aol.com and tell me about you're experience? Thanks.

1-0 out of 5 stars dont waste your precious money on this book...
there's nothing worth mentioned in this book , it only tells you about some basic stretching exercises and food habits which i am sure all of us know . infact instead of buying this book i recommend you to buy some yoga book or write me at manu_1008@yahoo.com , i will send you all material that will help you immensely, this book is a sheer wastage of time and money

3-0 out of 5 stars How To Grow Taller Books
Yes I read the book. It was a fair book but was easy flowing. It was missing many facts about nutrition such as the ones clearly stated in other books and online at such web sites such as http://www.growtall.com and http://www.sharpweblabs.com and http://www.hgfound.org. Overall the book was not bad but there is much room for improvement! ... Read more
