5-0 out of 5 stars excellent integrated healing book
The author's reverence for health and life shines through; the 1977 edition gets pulled off my shelf every year for a review, as it has for many years.Ms. Berkson was ahead of the wave by integrating reflexology, yoga, nutrition, herbology, acupuncture/acupupressure, and imagery/meditation -- a lovely synthesis from a loving spirit.I haven't seen the re-issued edition yet, but it may have updated information regarding some of the nutritional information. I wish I could have written this book myself. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More Exercises Needed! - But Great Information
Although this book was not what I had expected it to be (i.e. a detailed book
1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money this book is a fraud
I buy many books, never before gave up reading a book just within 30 minutes of browsing through various chapters looking for substance. I'm a person who has recovered from major depression which also entailed daily anxiety attacks and hyperventilation. I overcame my affliction by sheer will power through enormous love that I felt for my family and myself. I did that through redirecting my energy to change the things that I didn't like in my life. I also accomplished that through drastic change in my diet and through daily exercise for the last ten years. I was looking for a book to teach me better breathing, because by nature I'm a person who gets to excited in reaction to anything. This is a guy who one day decided to write a book by exploiting the most obvious things. The book is made of many anecdotes and repetition of many facts most people already know. Never before did I wish to return a book and ask for a refund. This time I do. This book will not go into my library, but it will go where my daily junk mail goes, the trash. .

4-0 out of 5 stars A good interdisciplinary book
This book is good because it emphasizes breathing techniques to attenuate stress-induced conditions (ex. Asthma, Anxiety). But again, as with most stress books, it falls short on recommending proper nutritional supplementation. Most Asthma books don't recommend any holistic/herbal remedies; they only recommend pharmaceutical drugs. A few Asthma books like these do recommend natural remedies, but these remedies are often unproven, and can be dangerous if mixed with other drugs/alcohol. I am really disappointed in all Asthma books in general, because they most often do not recommend the three most important ORTHOMOLECULAR Asthma remedies: Calcium, Magnesium, and Vitamin C. Calcium is simply there to balance magnesium and to chelate with ascorbate (vitamin C) to make calcium ascorbate. Magnesium relaxes lungs and improves air flow. Last and certainly not least, vitamin C has potent antihistamine effects via inhibiton of mast cell degranulation, and also has bronchodilator effects via inhibition of phosphodiesterase. Taking several gramsRead more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Inspiration to my Art Students!
Last year I used this book as a resource for a special high school art unit that I developed entitled "Sacred Circles."In addition to learning about circular artwork in various cultures and world religions, students used Judith's beautiful illustrations and step by step guides to create mandalas of their own. (...) This is a book that I still have available in my classroom and students continue to refer to it (independently!) to advance their drawing techniques.SO glad I bought this!

5-0 out of 5 stars Radiantly Inspiring
The beauty of the mandalas pictured in the book intimidated me because ithad been so many years since I'd created any art.I didn't think I coulddo it.But I did it and I'm extremely grateful to Judith Cornell forwriting this book.Working on the exercises at home, alone, is not thesame experience as it would be in a group. The group can offer a creativesupport level that helps each individual surpass previous achievements. However, I'm so happy with the mandalas I created as a result of theseexercises that I've put each one up on the wall. And, even more important,I've continued to draw.No more creative blocks for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly AWE inspiring!
Mandala: Luminous Symbols for Healing, by Judith Cornell, is absolutelythe most incredibly beautiful book I've ever held in my hands.Holding andlooking at it, even before reading, is like a sacred experience. Is it thebeauty of the lay-out and illustrations? The very real spiritual impact ofthe mandalas presented, both historical and contemporary?A moment ofhealing even in the first moment's gasp of awe while browsing its pages? One even begins to caress its binding. One of my favorite activities nowis to present it to friends and watch their faces--their eyes pop open, their jaws drop in amazement--and hear the quick intake of breath as itscolor begins to radiate into their awareness.Beyond the first impression, reading took me to awesome depths and insights regarding ultimate reality, syntheses I'd previously long puzzled.Don't miss this dazzling yet holyexperience.Look, read, and practice the simple yet brilliantart-as-at-one-ment exercises for the depth of your life. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad.....BUT.........
This book was OK but I have a few complaints that really bothered me. First, it's written in almost too easy to read language (5th grade-ish). Second, some of the illustrations are laughable (lifting soupcans). Third, the references to training programs that coincide with cars (SUV training, Truck training...). Fourth, too many stories about Joe So-and-so (who did this and that) to illustrate points.5-0 out of 5 stars The Healing Power of Dr. Linn Goldbeg: Why i am so moved.
Once in a great while a book so powerful comes along that it moves our lives in a new direction and reinvigerates us towards action. Dr. Goldberg's book is just such an example. With fluid use of language andstunning insights into what we can do better as humans, along with usefullydisplayed examples with true models, Golberg shows us how to conquer theobstacles that have become the bain of 21st century American existence:disease riddled lives due to the inactivity and complacency that surroundsmodern humanity. This monument of a work clearly puts Goldberg in the smallgroup of modern American doctors such as Dr. Ruth, C. Everett Koop, and Dr.Dolittle that have had such a surprisingly significant impact on everydaylife while coming at their topic from the field of medicine. I praise thisgiant piece of work and the equally large man and his effort that wentforth towards its' creation. God Bless Linn Goldberg. Cheers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Insighful and Extremely Helpful!
Not only does this guide give extremely helpful ways and tips to improve your health significantly, but the author's use of prose is remarkable and captivates the reader. Furthurmore, the exercise models and pictures are well placed and are invaluable to this mastery of literature. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Is cancer preventable? Most is...
General Content: Cancer is one of leading causes of death in our world and contrary to what many people believe, most cancers are preventable. Proper diet plays a key role in preventing cancer and this title by Dr. Hatherill is one of the best resources I've seen for building a cancer-fighting diet. The beautiful part about the recommendations in this audiobook is that they won't just help you to prevent cancer. They'll also help prevent heart disease, strokes and a whole host of other maladies in addition to helping you to shed excess weight. Perhaps most importantly the book contains information on helping to reduce the likelihood that your children will contract cancer.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good, Informative Read
This book is an eye-opener. Lots of very interesting information and a good tool to eat healthier, and glean an understanding into eating properly.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only dietary guide you'll ever need
My copy is out on loan (as it often is) so I went on Amazon to get the publication details for including this book in the recommended reading section of my own new book, Younger by the Day (HarperSanFrancisco, December 2004). I was shocked to see only four reviews and that they weren't all 5 stars. This book is fabulous, truly the only guide you'll ever need for disease prevention, nutrition---even weight loss, since if you eat all the health plant foods Dr. Hatherill recommends, you'll lose weight while you protect yourself from cancer and other degenerative diseases. Not only is Eat to Beat Cancer comprehensive and packed with valuable information, it is useful and practical: you can take its ideas to the grocery store and the restaurant and use them in real life every day. When I first read this book three years ago, I typed up Dr. Hatherill's list of the 8 cancer-fighting food groups and put it on my refrigerator. To this day, I know what to include in my diet on a daily basis; so do my husband and daughter. Please: Do yourself a favor and buy this book. And I should buy another one---one for me, one as a loaner. ... Read more
