5-0 out of 5 stars Least expensive tool to relieve pain!
I am a licensed Massage therapist in Hawaii.I stumbled upon Elaine's book and started using it for my neck & back pain.I was pleasantly surprised at how deep my muscles and spine could be worked while I did two simple things Breath and Relax.Although breathing and relaxing is simple it becomes more difficult the longer the balls are in one position and works deeper into the muscles. At that point I choose either to move positions or focus on relaxing further and deeper breathing to let the ball(s) work deeper.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best gift for chronic pain
This little kit, is a really wonderful and inexpensive way to change your life. Like most office workers, sitting for 8 hours a day, gives a lot of lower back pain and piraformis syndrome. These balls are great to relieve the pain. The only warning I have is to watch how long you stay on the balls. In some areas of the book, she recommends staying on as long as you want. This can do damage if your body isn't ready for it.I made the mistake and did too much of a good thing.Release the muscles and relax into the balls, but remove them and relax some more. This is the perfect workout if you hold your tension, stress and emotions in your muscularture. If you do, and try the workout, you will be free, relaxed, and happy!
5-0 out of 5 stars Pain free finally- I wish I had got this years ago! WONDERFUL !
I have been in very good shape most of my adult life.

3-0 out of 5 stars Title is Misleading
As a student of psychoanalysis there is very little in this CD that relates to the subconscious or unconscious mind and it's affects on the body. The problem is that this CD has been mistitled.Perhaps if it had been a more honest title I would not have been so disappointed.
3-0 out of 5 stars nothing new to me, and some info. was not particularly true
I love the movie, "what the bleep do we know" therefore I bought these CD's thinking they would be almost as good; as she is one of the scientist on the movie.Alot of it is true, but at one point she talked about sickness in CD #1 which is not, in my opinion true.

5-0 out of 5 stars Holistic Health
We need a new science, one that not just cares for the body or to the mind but to the two together, as inseparable parts of the person. The lack of information about emotional stress and the body means that medication is often prescribed in lieu of other treatments. Children and adults are given major medications for an array of syndromes and their symptoms such as chest pain, back aches, neck pain, weakness in limbs and upset stomachs, which can often be successfully treated without medication, particularly with early intervention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Treat Your Own Neck
very clear and useful information.Has helped considerably with my neck pain and headaches.

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish I had read this book 20 years ago!
This book is an easy read, with easy to follow pictures of how to do the exercises, some of which are so simple that I can do them in my car while sitting at a stoplight. The book shows how to do about 5 exercises that not only relieve neck pain -they ward off future occurences of it.Also helpful was the photos of postures to avoid while sitting, driving, and sleeping - I didn't know how important that was.I also recommend "Treat Your Own Back", also by Robin A. McKenzie.

This book totally saved my life.I picked it up on the way to a Christmas craft fair I was working...and during the afternoon I did a few of the exercizes along with some in Treat Your Own Back. The relief was instant.I couldn'tbelieve it!The only thing about these books is that Robin McKenzie has updated his method and combined both books into "7-Steps to a Pain Free Life:How to Rapidly Relieve Back and Neck Pain" by Craig Kubey and Robin McKenzie.So...get the updated version instead! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Not just for weight loss.
The book does address weight loss throughout, however it also does a good job of educating the reader in how to balance and maintain pH balance in the body. There is a short chapter educating the reader on blood including slides of blood viewed by a microscope before and after the body is alkaline. If that doesn't convince us to embrace pH balance in the body then the slides of blood after being on the most popular diets will. The book details how different brands of bottled and munincipal water affect body pH. It expounds on the value of fat in the diet.A short chapter indicates optimum foods to eat followed by another short chapter on fitness. The supplements chapter is very well done and supports what I have learned after many years of informal study. There are nice encapsulations throughout the book and nicely done in Chapter 11 "Take Seven: Steps to Your Ideal Weight" pages 190 - 211.
5-0 out of 5 stars Productive!
This book is inspiring and educational. I used the principles in the book and started feeling better within a few days. My stomach is noticably smaller. I've even shared the book with my mother who suffers from multiple symptoms mentioned in the book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential item for people with back pain.
This book was recommended to me by a senior physiotherapist at my local public hospital. It contains an effective set of excercises and advice as to how to prevent and treat back pain.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book changed my life...really.
I had severe back pain for most of my teenage years, but when I got to college my lower back hurt so much that it made it almost impossible for me to sit through lectures. The pain was so bad that I could hardly move from bed on many days.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and effective
I had a severe disc herniation at L5-S1.My physical therapist recommended this book.In fact, I have had therapists tell me they are "McKenzie trained."The book is simple to follow and truly helps relieve my sciatic nerve pain.My therapist recommended doing the exercises every 2 hours if I have acute pain.I credit physical therapy and this book with saving me from surgery. ... Has stretches that definitely help reduce chronic neck and back pain. Recommended by my physician.Stunned that the chiropractor never told me about it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Book Review of 7Steps to a Pain-Free Life
This book was written in a clear and straight foward style and packed with invaluable information for back and neck pain sufferers.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Health and a Pain Free Back
This book is much more than a few simple exercises. It taught me a lot of things, from why I should not be lifting heavy things first thing in the morning to what is the proper way to sneeze (looking up). Posture is extremely important. The pain will surely come back if the posture is not corrected, no matter how many exercises you do all these things was necessary for me to learn from this book.Read the book and learn from the advice about good posture etc,.So the book really helps me, and I completely recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful Knowledge for Strength, Conditioning, and Lifelong Health
Used to train prospective strength and conditioning coaches for the NSCA CSCS exam, this book can also help anyone build a strong foundation of knowledge about how exercise improves the human body. Not just an exercise physiology text, this book includes gems like the classic Stone and Bryant periodized model of weight training (the three-phase progression from high-volume hypertrophy training to high-load strength training); the demystification of big lifts like the clean and press, the power pull, or the snatch; how heavy power training selectively thickens Type II muscle fibers; sports psychology and metabolic training; how the lower body is often undertrained; a more intelligent way to use progress strength training with DAPRE; and an unparalleled discussion on plyometrics. This book anchors its thought-provoking and definitive discussion with relevant references, helpfully cited in context so you can clearly see for yourself at the scientific evidence upon which this book--and much current knowledge in exercise science--is based. The treasures of this book must be extracted at the cost of dry science-speak writing (nouny, overuse of the verb "to be," and heavy reliance on the passive voice): as I read along, I found that selectively underlining and briefly restating key ideas in the margins of this text kept my attention. Not only personal trainers in training but consumers tired of glib books lacking citation of scientific evidence would find this book extremely useful, and certainly more accurate than many consumer fitness books currently on the market.

5-0 out of 5 stars all you need for the CSCS exam!
like kent_mc2 this is all you need for the CSCS exam. This and the Exam Content Descriptions. Do all the questions in each chapter and read the chapters that you are weak on and skim the chapters you feel strong in. Use the chapter questions to see if you need to go over the chapter again. This can be done in a few days if you have some kind of science or exercise science background or other PTtraining. Some of the basic sciences at the beginning can be a bit intimidating if you did not take basic sciences in college, but only a small percentage of the exam is basic sciences. I keep this book as a reference now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essentially the Essentials
The essentials is just what it states - it covers the essentials! It is not the last word on everything written for everyone. It is primarily a teaching reference. This is a reference that has the research and science behind it to back up the statements.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Helpful
I have scoliosis and this book has been a tremendous resource in understanding and caring for my condition. The book is a good start and it eventually got me interested in taking some yoga classes and exploring some of the different practices. I'm so glad I found this book; yoga has been a positive force in my life for some time now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real yoga, really good advice, well written
Lots of back pain books provide exercises, but this one takes them directly from the Iyenger Yoga method; Iyenger revolutionized Yoga from the 1960's to the present by applying contemporary knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the traditional and spiritual aspects of yoga.Teachers trained and certified in Iyenger Yoga are a 'cut' above others from my lengthy experience with Yoga practice. That said, dr. Schatz uses Iyenger's methods (Iyenger also wrote the intro) to design a comprehensive program for all types of back and neck problems; she also provides accurate and clear illustrations of the spine structure and related anatomy. The photos are very clear and easy to understand as are the instructions of asanas and restorative poses..The book is the right length, size and format. Many back problems can be treated. This book offers programs for many of them; also included is a self-analysis of one's own current posture and alignment. This is no quick fix book; the programs she recommends may take a couple of years to 'work' but it's definitely worth it to live a more vigorous, pain reduced or pain free life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review by former physiology instructor and past back pain sufferer!
This is my favorite book for addressing back pain issues. It presents a great foundation in the basic anatomy of the back and then uses this information to develop the concepts that help people understand why back and neck pain occur and how to correct it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book
I purchased this book recently. I have found the information in it simply amazing. Within a few days I have noticed an overall sense of well being and improvement to my health. And no I am not connected to the author in any way. It is just a very good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Life-enhancing and practical
I've had this wonderful book for over 10 years, but only really began to apply the Internal Exercises after a trip to China. I saw a Qi Gong demonstration there and was very impressed, especially by the fact that the Qi Gong master looked all of 25 years old (I'm sure he was in his 40's at least). I began to practice Dr Chang's set of exercises faithfully on returning from the trip and have experienced increased energy, suppleness, better sleep, and clarity of mind. I was able to abandon my use of prescription antihistamines for allergies and now have no symptoms whatever. My nightly headaches, which were requiring nightly Tylenol, have also resolved. My endurance in sports, particularly alpine skiing, has increased without requiring increased preparatory workouts; and if I am diligent at doing the exercises after a workout, I experience no stiffness or soreness (something I'm starting to appreciate as an aging Baby Boomer!).5-0 out of 5 stars Exellent Book for General Health
My son bought me this book about 6 months ago and since then I have been in exellent health through doing the exersises. In my present job I do not have much time to exersise so I use this book to help me maintain a healthy mind and body. I would recommend this book to anyone. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What huge RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!
90% of all the exercises are strictly yoga poses.I am throughly disgusted that I spent my good money on a BIG RIP OFF!2/3 of the book is spent with Mr. Weisberg loving the view of his own words in print.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
Prevention is the key with any joint pain issues and this book helps you understand and prevent them from occuring.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good advice despite the over-hyped title.
Hardly a "revolutionary" program for those who have read anything about the muscular-skeletal structure of the human body, the interrelations of muscles and joints, and the importance of keeping the muscles stretched. But the author does offer an inviting, simple, and feasible set of six exercises which, if done religiously every day, 30 seconds per exercise, can prevent further abuses and damage (the title's apparent promise of restoration or a "cure" seems a bit exaggerated).Compared to the impossibly long list of tedious, often painful and exhausting exercises given me by my PT, Dr. Weisberg's program is cause for a sigh of relief.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Life Saver for Pain Suffers and Everyone Else
My cranial sacral therapist had given me xeroxed copies of these particular yoga poses that she felt would help me while I got my body straightened out. She took them from an old book that she had had. I started doing the poses but did not stick to them on a regular basis. However, I was still curious if I could somehow find the book. After a successful search online, I found the book and immediately ordered it. I must say it is fascinating to read how the Colonel explain these five particular Tibetan ancient exercises changed his life and made him look much younger than his age. The Colonel traveled through some forbidden Tibetan territory, enduring mountainous onstacles in search of this ageless monk society. The exercises are simple and do detox your system. You must be cautious and not overdo yourself in the fist couple of weeks. I love this book and will refer many people to it. It sure beats enduring an operation which may or may not cure you. It is simply another part of the growing search for alternative medicine and lfe styles.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hyped
This is pure hype. Peter Kelder never wrote a book called Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth. It's title is The Eye of Revelation and has been published by Borderland Sciences since as early at 1975. These rites are very effective. There has been some recent research into what makes these simple exercises so powerful.
5-0 out of 5 stars I like it...
I don't know if this program is going to turn me into a 22 year old again, but I find the exercises worth the 5-10 minutes a day to do.They help promote flexibility and strength.

5-0 out of 5 stars informative, interesting and not too new agey
i've got this book after a recomendation of my yoga instractor and just like she said - it helps put the yoga i take at the gym, which is mainly asanas (postures) in a larger context of both spiritual guidness and preseption as well as other live guiding filds, like breathing, eating, and over all living.5-0 out of 5 stars Full of important info
This book introduces, and covers a good deal of areas that, as far as I know, have never been covered before. His explanation of Soma is very sober and answers alot of questions. There is enough info in here for any person to gain, not only from his perspective but also for an informational aspect.Though there are meditation techniques I wouldn't just take up without Intensive Study into both subjects.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sports medicine
Runners, weight lifters, bikers, golfers, and other exercise buffs (I'm a runner) need serious guidance about injury prevention and how to improve your performance. I found this to be a great guide, not from an amateur enthusiast, but from a doctor who has seriously taken on the problem, even beyond the typical exercises I was familiar with from physical therapy over the years. And yes, they told me I'd likely have to do exercises for the rest of my life. And that's what makes this book so handy, you don't have a therpist with you day in and out.
2-0 out of 5 stars Backsmart book
I have had recurring back issues for quite some time (12 years) and have done lenghty research to help aleviate pain and improve performance. With that being said, I found this book to be entirely too basic for me.Much of what's covered are sretches and abdominal and bicep exercises.....very little lower/upper back exercises. If you're an athlete or somebody who's been active consistently, you probably won't find your answers in this book. However, for older or non-exercising individuals, this book has decent basic guidlines and is decent starter information.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition to any training library
No matter what type of exercise program you are doing or starting, this book will help you do it better. The pictures really help to get your mind focused on what's happening during specific exercises and everyone seems to agree that is a good thing. Great layout. When you are ready to vary your routine this book can help you by identifying substitute exercises for those you are unable to perform the exercises yet due to back or neck weakness/ pain or simply don't yet have the strength to perform them yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yoga for Healthy Knees
If you have any problem with your knee, this is the right choice of book to read.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a steal!
Knees bees. Whatever. Just got this book a week ago, so as far as helping knees per se, don't know, but most impressed with it. These few yoga exercises limbers up the entire hip, leg area. It identifies which side is tighter. She even rightly points out to go barefoot often to strengthen feet that have been too conditioned to shoes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful!
This book, which wisely includes a C.D. is great because you can give your client a piece of paper they can really use concerning the chosen treatment and hopeful outcome that was just covered in the session. It is concise and very well written.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE MOST USEFUL AND USED BOOKS FOR CLIENT EDUCATION
In 30 years of psychotherapy practice,I have used handouts from this book more than any other source. Many clients likethese handouts because they are short and give an overview of the topic. They are not in depth guides, however. This is one of the few books worth several times its cost.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Helpful to My Clients
Cohen-Posey has packed this book and disc with a great deal of useful information which, although very helpful to a professional, is not at all helpful to my clients. I deal with college students who are reluctant to do yet more "homework". The handouts presented here are so full of information that one senses they might need a several hours just to comprehend the directions for the assignment. Additionally, the layout of the exercises is awful -- not enough white space and attractive lettering to invite someone to dig into the assignment. Sounds very shallow, yet layout design is very important to consider. All in all a good book for very motivated private practice clients ( a rarity!); not practical or useful for traditional-age college students. ... Read more
