5-0 out of 5 stars What works works.
When I was growing up in Upstate New York, I was skinny.I hated being thin and could pump iron and eat all day to no avail. Then, I grew up.I aged.By my mid-twenties I had packed on 40 pounds (over my college years). While people still thought I was thin, I wasn't.I should have been happy, but I noticed that carrying this extra weight around was wearing my joints and me out.I could exercise and lose weight, but barely walk because of the shin splints (from running).
3-0 out of 5 stars No secrets here
Yes, another diet book. This one attempts to slim America by sharing the "secrets" that have worked for this Park Avenue diet doctor and her clients.
5-0 out of 5 stars Get this book if you want success!
Like many women, I have lost weight many, many times, but keeping it off has been difficult. In January, I went back to my popular meeting type weight loss program, but this time I started to read everything I could on the topic and incorporated many of the ideas I learned on my own with my program. I've enjoyed a lot of success and sense strongly that this time the weight is going to stay off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Text for Culinary Nutrition Class
I was assigned this text in my nutrition class in culinary school. The book was a joy to read because it was fun and easy to read.I really liked the section on vitamins and food sources of each vitamin. However, if you really want to know the type of questions asked in nutrition class in culinary school get the following."Nutrtion Study Guide for Food Service and Culinary Professionals: Key Review Questions and Answers by Melissa Heilman. The isbn of this book is 1933023058.This book is right on with the type of questions that I accounted on my tests. With the help of these two books getting an "A" was quite easy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great guide for nutrition.
Very knowledgable book on nutrition including information for children and older adults. As a culinary professional I wanted to read up on the latest nutrition especially on soy and to improve my diet.I am also considering taking some courses, one of them is Sanitation. The Study Guide for the National Servsafe Exam by Dr. Leonardi was a book I found also very knowledgable and I am certain that it will help me with my exam once I decide when to take it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed.
This book was exactly what I needed. It contains all the information I needed. A great learning tool. The part of the book I am most impressed with is the section of infant nutrition. It explains month by month what you can feed your infant. An example is the 4th month of life, you can start your child on iron enriched cereals. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I own an earlier version
This book is heavily referenced by Louie Simmons of the Westside Barbell Club in Columbus.
4-0 out of 5 stars Two thumbs up!
Some of the topics in the book are quite technical but you'll be able to understand them after a few times of rereading. The book does not show you routines to follow but what it does is show you what methods worked and did not work. This book is for all those who want to understand the science behind strength training. It does not give you a specific program but it equips you with the knowledge on how to develop your own. This book deserves a space in your strength training library and is a must for any serious lifter, coach and athlete.

5-0 out of 5 stars Decades of experience
This book is based on decades of methodically documented training of Russian athletes. Rather than use hypothesis of what training methods SHOULD work, found so commonly in U.S. training literature, what you'll read in this book is scrupulous analysis of what actually worked and what didn't work. There is no equivalent in the U.S. athletic training system; no one has tracked and scientifically analyzed the training of U.S. athletes like the Russians did with their centralized training programs. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great programs
I love the programs in this book. I am not currently training for anything but many of the workouts I am doing to improve both my speed and my distance on the treadmill. It opens up a whole new idea of treadmill running when you have a routine to follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Much needed reference
I am glad there is finally a workout book for treadmill running. I have been doing most of my running on the treadmill for years and have not had any type of reference book. I only wish I had found this book sooner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good book - works for me
I'm a golfer that has frequently had some degree of lower back pain.Suffered a severe lower back strain four months ago.Bought the book and started the routine after that.It has made a big difference for me.My back feels better than it has in years.I strongly recommend the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A GOOD WHIPPING
This is an excellent book for dealing with this common problem afflicting so many people but it doesn't explain why Pilate ordered Jesus to be whipped. That is definitely not the way to relieve back pain!

3-0 out of 5 stars Thoughtfulm, safe process, but does it work????
I felt that Dr. Vad's approach was safe and logical. He has you perform easy basic exercises for some time, and then graduate to more strenuous exercises.I must say, though, as someone is in pretty fair physical condition to begin with, I felt the exercises were too basic, and not at all challenging. There didn't seem to be an abundance of info on treatments or back pain causes either.I guess though, the real proof is, "Did it work? Did following the program letter for letter improve my back pain?"And, in my case, which of course is very individual, after following the program to the "T" for 8 weeks, it really did nothing me.Decent book, but I'm still looking for the magic bullet. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Useful to have a copy in the home
I fell and sprained my ankle shortly after buying this book and the advice on how to treat my ankle helped tremendously in my recovery. I was able to walk almost normally within a day! The book also gave helpful advice on how to develop good standing, sleeping and sitting posture in order to prevent back pains and I find these to be particularly useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reliable academic information, few flawed presentations
This book would have easily won five stars had its authors strived to respect the intelligence of its readers.Although the book mainly emphasizes body maintenance and repair, it presents extensive tips and exercises to do more than its title indicates. The major flaw with the book presentation is its authors' short-winded style of sloppiness and poor research.

Dancers get their beautiful bodies by dancing, right? Well, there's more to it than that. They also do specific exercises and stretches to build their strength and keep their magnificent physiques injury-free. This book offers 50 of those exercises, ranging from routine abdominal movements to "center exercises" (which develop coordination and stability) to advanced leg movements (which, of course, give you legs like a dancer). The book even offers suggestions for music to play while you follow the training tips. ... Read more

The content of this book is OK, but the quality of the book is poor. After relatively little use, the binding fell apart and most of the pages are loose, so it's extremely inconvenient to use.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, easy read.
This is a pretty good, easy read.It doesn't hit you with a lot of scientific mumbo-jumbo that you'll never understand.Instead, it gives you a basic, common-sense approach to improving the mental aspect of your game. The author shows how the physical world and the emotional world are related, and how being stronger mentally can help you perform better in your sport.
5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest book on mental preparation for sports
All I can say is that my husband a college baseball coach of 35 yrs thought this book was so important he sent it to the Cubs trainer and the pitching coach for the Padres!

1-0 out of 5 stars So-so, look at others before you buy
This book was so-so. It contained a lot of highly basic material. I was not really impressed with Dr. Loehr's theories about sport. It seemed that he did not have much access to sport himself. The examples that were given were very modest and could have used some help. I would only reccommend this book to someone who has rarely particiapted in sports...too basic for the advanced. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This book is excellent. I'm convinced that the information contained in this book is valid. Not just because the author's provide plenty of relevant scietific information to support the diet, but mostly because after trying the diet plan I immediatedly began to feel healthier. I know there are lots of smart people who might argue against this diet, but I'll listen to my own body before any MD, Phd or whatever. I'd give this book my highest recommendation not only to people who are trying to loose weight, but to people in general.

1-0 out of 5 stars Have followed the plan and have seen NO results!
As far as I am concerned, '8 Minutes in the Morning to a Flat Belly' was a total waste of my money.I've been following this workout and eating plan for over four months now and have seen no reduction in neither my belly size nor my weight.Frankly, I was seeing more results from my old Denise Austin Low Impact Aerobic Workout tape than this, so it looks like I'm saying goodbye to Jorge and going back to Denise.Sorry Jorge, I gave it my best shot but your plan just doesn't work for me.

3-0 out of 5 stars I'm so disappointed at the DVD!!!
I got this book shipped to me today. I've been hoping to see a well-structured DVD routine so I can follow, but how disappointed I am! Everything on the DVD, you can find at the T-Tapp website, there is no need to purchase this book and DVD. And I don't think 15 minutes of abs and "Hoe Down" exercise can help me lose much weight either, I've been doing kickbox and pilates, the T-Tapp moves are not very advanced for me. But I will give it a try anyway, mix it with my routine or do it after dinner to burn some calories.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent book
I bought the book as I had bought 2 of the workout dvds about 3 years ago but never really used them.I figured I'd give it another try and see what information the book might have to offer.I did the 14 day bootcamp and then did the basic plus workout everyday for another 14 days as well as sometimes doing the entire workout listed in the book.I only lost 1.5 inches in my waist. Not two dress sizes like the book promotes.I went on to the t-tapp website and posted my discouragement. Some of the instructors wrote back with some helpful hints and support. The workout helps my back feel better but I wouldn't buy it in order to lose two dress sizes because it probably won't happen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely delighted
I have never written a review before but have felt it was the least I could do for what I have received from this program.I purchased this book on impluse, and at the time was committed to doing my free weights routine from Joyce Vedral's book (one of her many).I was about 3 mths into the Joyce Vedral program and was beginning to see some improvement (which is about the time period her bk tells you to expect). Not needing to try yet another routine I found myself buying the T-Tapp book. After reading it over the weekend I was truly inspired by all of the wonderful testimonies, before and after pictures and the stated benefits (beyond body shaping) that the book covers.I started the routine and was able to accomplish the first fifteen min routine on my own but was really left wondering if I was missing something in my form so I redeemed my coupon and bot the DVD for the Total Workout (which with the 30% off and the free DVD in the back it is a good deal I think).Let me tell you, I am SO impressed with the results.I fortunately don't have pounds to loose just shaping up.Ever since I had my son at age 21 I started a pilgramage of what workout routine would finally get me back into shape.I also thought in the back of my mind that one day before I was old I would like to exprience what it would be like to be fit again.I have done yoga (Bikram), pilates, gym with weights, free weights at home, callanetics, lotte burk etc. etc.The thing that most impresses me about this program is that the results are so fast.A couple of weeks in and I was really seeing toning, flatter stomach and most importantly losing back fat!I kept asking my personal trainer (during the gym work out days) how to lose that and she said more cardio, but I never could make it budge and now four weeks into this program it has significantly reduced.I can't wait to see the continued improvement.I have every faith now that my idle fantasy of having a fit figure again is on it's way (and some my argue is already here). And one last thing for all the moms out there nothing, and I mean nothing, has come close to the speed with which my tummy has reduced and is on it's way to being flat.I just had to share because this is a fitness program that has this 40 year old feeling excited and not afraid of celebrating my future birthdays.I have every expectation that I will be looking great (and feeling great as well). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Feldenkrais and his Method
This book was first published in Hebrew in the late 60s. At that time Moshe was 55 years old or so. He had already published a translation into Hebrew of Bruck's book about the autosuggestion method of the sensational Que, his own guide for unarmed combat, a couple of textbooks for Judo and his scientifically oriented "Body and Mature Behaviour" (1949). He had already written - but not published - a book aimed at a more popular presentation of his theory - The Potent Self (Published only in 1985). It was around that time that he began training the first generation of future practitioners of his method. It seems that he felt the time was ripe for his method to develop not solely under his own hands, that the method matured, so to say, to the degree of beginnig a gradually more and more independent life of itself.5-0 out of 5 stars More about the book

It was around that time that he began training the first generation of future practitioners of his method. It seems that he felt the time was ripe for his method to develop not solely under his own hands, that the method matured, so to say, to the degree of beginning a gradually more and more independent life of itself.
4-0 out of 5 stars It's difficult but well worth the effort.
The first time I read this book, it was such a daunting task I put down and saved it for a time when my intelligence was ready to 'understand' the instructions. If you're the equivilent of a college freshman in the science of movement this book will probably be something you want to save for a more advanced place in your progression.Or read it and get what you can...planning to come back to it over and over.If I hadn't seen and tried the method via videotapes and then in an actual seminar I probably wouldn't have given the book a chance at all.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good read - can be very useful :-)
If you are someone who is super fit and exercise on a very regular basis, then this book may not be for you.If you are coming back from injury or just want to change your life, then pick up a copy and take a read.I bought this when my back wouldn't allow me to go for long walks anymore, and started to put on a little weight.I knew about weight lifting, but this motivated me to actually do more than what I already was doing and it brought about some changes in my slowly increasing weight (which now has gone thanks to this).
5-0 out of 5 stars No Diet Fitness Book
An energizing book whose focus is not just on weight loss. The book has exercise plans with no diet restrictions thus making it much easy to follow. This well written book talks of how to loose weight while gaining strength.Miriam Nelson stresses on slow weight loss which is healthier and easier. This book is clear and easy to understand, and does not require to avoids particular food groups.
5-0 out of 5 stars Weight training for those intimidated by other programs
I'm an out-of-condition, fiftyish female who does not want HRT but needs to do something to maintain bone density, strength, etc. I got this book after reading Jane Brody's positive discussion of it in the New York Times a few years ago.I've been doing the exercises for about a month now and am beginning to see the results predicted by the author. I feel more active, grocery bags are easier to carry, and I'm seeing definition in my arms and legs.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide to butt and legs advanced shaping
I bought this book after I bought the "The complete book of ABS" by the same authors. I was so impressed by the thoroughness and effectiveness of the first book, that I decided to try this one and "The complete book of shoulders and arms".
3-0 out of 5 stars Good but a little disappointing after the Book of Abs
The introductory chapters are as good as those found in the Brungardt's Complete Book of Abs, but having read that book there is little new useful information in the wellness and nutrition sections.
4-0 out of 5 stars Keys for Killer Quads
The Brungardt series of "Complete" Exercises finally gets around to covering lower body. It's nice to see a reference book that focuses on the most essential piece of a well-planned workout.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide for training
This book is an excellent reference for specific plans for designing a training schedule. For beginner triathletes like myself, it has helped me get a good idea of what should go into training and how I should train for the 3 sports. I recommend this book especially for those, also like me, who have very little time to train.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Training Asset!
This is an excellent book for anyone looking for training plans that are completely laid out. There are plans for all distances, from sprint to ironman triathlons, as well as nutrition and resistance training guidlines.

5-0 out of 5 stars First Duathlon - 3rd Place!
I had been running for about 2 years prior to purchasing this book, training with a running club.I wanted to try my first duathlon but could not find a local club to help me with a program.I bought this book, followed the Runner-to-Duathlete plan faithfully for 10 weeks.I did my first triathlon and placed third in my age group!
