5-0 out of 5 stars This book should be read by everyone!
Fantastic book! If you are at all interested in optimum health and well being or know someone suffering healthwise, this is a must read. It will change your life and the way you look at the food you eat. CANCER AND OTHER DISEASES CAN BE CURED-This book will tell you how. I have recommended it to all my family and friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Gerson Therapy... by Charlotte Gerson
An indispensable aid for those wishing to use the highest cure rate therapy for cancer yet devised. The incredible cures for many degenerative diseases wrought by slight variations of this program are also described in this book. With the recent opening of a Gerson Therapy center in Hawaii, and with the Baja Nutri Care facility in Las Playas de Tijuana, Mexico, what's not to love about this amazing chance to survive the deadly big "C"? With a cure rate under 10% in America, why not go with the Gerson Therapy, with almost ten times the cure rate? This book is logical, orderly, and well thought out. It is not "easy reading," but it is certainly essential reading for our day. The present rate for cancer is five of every twelve alive today. Doctors are already predicting that the rate will increase yet again. Be prepared. Know how to prevent cancer, not just cure it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the only way
I found the book to be a litte condradictory. It acknowledges that other alternative therapies have cured terminal cancer via nutrition life style changes. It later leads you to believe if the protocal is not followed to the letter your cancer will return. This is simply not true. Whole foods is the key and detoxification. I know of a man who dissolved over 50 tumors in his body thru eating more fruits and veggies and coffee enemas and suplimentation of vitamins and minerals not mentioned in this book.He also has not juiced one drop of veggies or fruit.

It's hard to argue with success; it's even tougher to emulate it. But ifyou want to train like a Tour de France winner, you couldn't do much better thanlearning the tricks of the trade from two-time champion (1999 and 2000) LanceArmstrong.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk
I planned to write that this book is useless, but it is actually worse - it is downright annoying. Unless you are interested in how Lance surfs the net after a training ride or who his girlfriend is, you will find it far too vague to be of any value.

4-0 out of 5 stars A "must have" for every cyclist
Lance's name and picture on the book's cover has the major selling appeal. However, it's also the book's drawback. Why? The book says that "inside you find the exercises, ridind schedules, endurance builders, and mental tricks that brought Lance back to the pinnacle of cycling". Sorry, but you will not find this in the book. The book is obviously written by Chris Charmichal, not Lance. You will find in the book every aspect of cycling a beginner should know. An expert that lacks training discipline will also find the book very usefull. But as mentioned before, you will not find Lance's training regiment to win Tour the France. If the book have had the following title, "The Chris Carmichael Performance Program for Cyclists", it should have earned 5 stars. As a "Lance Armstrong Performance Program", it earns just 4.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nutritional Enlightenment
I have been fighting with my weight all my life. This book has taught me how to stop fighting uselessly against my body and start working with my whole self to achieve well-being. Really enlightening.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes sense!
A refreshing change from other "nutrition" books, you'll find yourself rethinking your attitude about food.David's focus is more about HOW to eat than WHAT to eat. This book is a different approach than you've probably encountered before, but if you read it and give it some thought, I think you'll conclude that it most definitely makes sense.5-0 out of 5 stars A Recipe for Holistic Eating
One of the traps which many of us fall into when we become aware of the relationship between nutrition and health is that we establish a set of dietary rules according to which we label foods as either "good"or "bad."Once a certain food has been assigned to the"bad" category, we might even become critical of ourselves andothers for desiring or eating that food. The more zealous we are in ourconviction that we have found the one right way of eating, the more limitedwe become in our understanding of food and our interaction with it.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
I liked the book and found the information helpful to couples. It is also a good read if you are single and looking to improve your relationship skills. I didn't like that fact that the positions are only described, even stick figures could help some of us who are more visual. Still a good book.

I've been operating on a diet of sex for some time now, so it's no surprise that I'm irritated by this author's claiming it as her own discovery. Am I obliged to credit this author for the many pounds I've shed since I began my substitution program?

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Jim Johnson
Physical therapist (P.T.) Jim Johnson's The Multifidus Back Pain Solution is a straight forward, educational and hope inspiring read that has been effective in helping me address my lower back and leg nerve pain.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Overview of Approaches Used For Back Therapy
I found this book to be an excellent guide and would highly recommend it to anyone starting their own journey in addressing a back injury. It's short, but it has a lot of good information very well presented. While the author does focus on the multifidus muscle, the book gives a very objective overview of how to handle back problems in general, from generic lower back pain to pain associated with herniated disks. He also helps lay people understand how the medical profession categorizes back injuries to put them in their proper scope. The book describes several exercises, but not anything beyond the scope of the multifidus.More exercises would have been a great addition, but the book isn't about all back exercises.Anyone with a serious back injury should see a physical therapist for guidance. What I found most useful in the book is the short mention of steroid injections (epidural), which seem to be questionably useful. The author could have elaborated more on the appropriateness of them, as it's hard to compare your own situation with those in studies (ie: how many millimeters is the disk bulging).I also liked the fact that the author provided select references for the types of issues most lay people would be interested in viewing. In my own experience, I've learned that a muscle imbalance is most likely the cause of my L5-S1 herniated disk, and it took 14 weeks and a good number of visits with various practitioners to come to that conclusion.

4-0 out of 5 stars the little know multifidus muscle
I had 2 herniated discs.Went through chiro, massage, p.t., cortisone injections....then i read this book and began following the exercises in it.The MacKenzie method DID NOT work for me, it only created more pain. This book was extremely helpful to me.Surprisingly, my massage therapist recommended it, not my physical therapist, orthopeadic, or chiropractor.I am fully healed without surgery and running marathons!I recommend this book to any average person who wants to have a better understanding of how to strengthen your back and core! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars dave drapers book
I wondered what ever happened to dave so I went looking for him on the internet,I figured he was dead, but no he is alive and kicking and even writing books.A must read for all weightlifters.

4-0 out of 5 stars Quality work that's worth the money
In this enlightened book from golden ager Dave Draper delves into everything bodybuilding. This book is great for lifters of all ages but especially those who have been in the game awhile and need a kick in the butt to get things in gear. His advice is top notch because he's lived it and still practices it. Informative and inspiring, a no doubt hit for those with love and interest in the "iron game."

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny
I've purchased plenty of exercise videos and programs and this is the best.It is simple and can be done anywhere in short periods of time.I love Transformetrics because you feel the intensity of the workout quickly and do not have to purchase any equipment.I almost did not purchase as I have spent so much money on exercise videos and book to stay motivated, but I am very thankful I purchased this book.I injured my hip over 5 years ago and her program has been successful in helping me isolate and work that muscle. And I've tried almost everything to heal that muscle including pilates, physical therapy, electronic muscle stimulation, but these exercises have been the most beneficial. When she makes a exercise DVD, I'll buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars please, buy it and practice it!
i am already in great shape but this book opens a whole new area of health and fitness, along with beauty that i did not know!!! i am a menoposed grandmother and thought that my "chicken neck", bony hands and foreharms, frozen shoulders and whatever were there to stay as they always were there but Wendie let me understand that, while practicing faithfully the "push up" in the accessible way she teach it, no matter if one day i will be able to perform correctly even one, will change a lot in my life!

5-0 out of 5 stars Financial Planning Therapist and author
I am delighted to report that Wendie's book and exercises have helped me return to the size and physical fitness I was seeking. I've lost 17 pounds, 11 inches and 3 sizes. I especially love the fact that none of the exercises require a gym or equipment. It is using your own body as the ultimate exercise equipment. 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied
My husband & myself have been married for 10 yrs. This book certainly gave us some refreshing ideas. It is fun, & exciting. I certainly liked the fact that each chapter is sealed, & seperate for him & her. So you have no idea what your partner is going to do. (Very Exciting!)After 10 yrs of marraige it really helped spice up our sex life. So many different ideas. And it's almost like opening a new present everytime you get to a new chapter. I think that's what makes it so different from other books. You have nothing to lose. I recomend it very highly! Have Fun!

4-0 out of 5 stars It's fun!
I agree with the other reviewer that if you have a satisfying sex life already, this wont be anything new. But it's great fun to knowthat your lover is planning something for you! Plus, we're just going to tweak things to enhance our fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!
This book is great! Being a full-time student I couldn't afford the DVDs(which are available at sfactor.com), but the book is still amazing. It's not just exercises, but a makeover in a book! It's fun, sexy, with just a bit of wickedness. Before this book, I was the laziest person in the world who lacked motivations, but this book has definitely given me the confidence boost that I needed, not to mention a great body with a touch of femininity. I definitely recommend this book for anyone and everyone that wants to feel sexy.

Editorial Review

One of the dirty secrets of the fitness world is that for all the talk about the importance of stretching, many athletes and other fit people don't bother with it. It's hard to gauge the benefits, and it seems as if the time could be better spent running, lifting weights, or perfecting sports skills. This sentiment is expressed by Dr. Bob Arnot in the foreword to "The Whartons' Stretch Book," and he says that the Whartons changed his mind. He went to them with a stiffened hip that he thought needed surgery, but after a regimen using the active-isolated stretching technique, his flexibility in that hip had increased 40 percent.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Whole Body Stretch
I was looking for a good book that I could get ideas for stretching. I am getting ready to be a fitness instructor and wanted to learn new stretches for before and after the class. The book is really good, but most of the stretches are done on the floor. I wanted more stretches that I could do while standing up. But overall I am very happy with my book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just for athletes
This book was recommended to me by a skating organization. I thought it would be for top athletes..and while it is...there is a section for typists, people on their feet all day, methods of stretching to avoid surgery in some instances, etc.

If it shows that I am not in the healthy range, I will work on my diet and supplements until I am in the healthy range. If it works, great. If it does not work, it at least will have me eating more fruits and vegies. Joe

this is a claim that robert barefoot made on his informerical. you judge for your self if this guy is trustworthy. (1)"Now a medical doctor called Dr. Otto Warburg won two Nobel prizes for discovering that this acid -- removing the oxygen was the cause of cancer." this is what he actually said,(2)"cancerous cells can live and develop, even in the absence of oxygen." robert barefoot also said, (1)"two Nobel prizes have been awarded for the man who discovered the cause of cancer. And he said the cause of cancer was anaerobism or lack of oxygen." make your own judgements about him.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another good book in need of a copyeditor
If you're already familiar with the terms 'lateral' and 'medial', then you'll know that "Latoral joint Compartment" in figure 2-1A&B on p. 29 is probably not what they meant, especially since it's across from the "Medial joint Compartment" in the same illustration. And then again on p. 31 in figure 2-3A&B there is the "Later Menicus" [Lateral Meniscus] across from the "Medial Meniscus"

I bought this book because I have a damaged miniscus in my knee. This book allowed me to understand what exactly went wrong with my knee.It enabled me to understand my surgeon when he explained my options. It is a good value and well worth the asking price.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this book!
This is the best book I have found for a real beginner to get comfortable with a weight training routine and, most important, to get past the akwardness at the gym.If you want to incorporate a fitness program into your life, this is a great place to start.Easy to read, good pictures, and the authors accept the fact that there are no dumb questions and then answer them.Very encouraging.

5-0 out of 5 stars Among the best weight lifting book
I have read serveral fitness book, but this book contains all the important information in a simple to understand way. Depending on your goal, you have to do weight training, eg. 4 to 6 reps for maxinum muscle growth. The book is a powerful tool when combined with a log. I use a mobile phone log available at www.doitech.com/fitness and make all my log entry easy and available online blog.

3-0 out of 5 stars Basics
Hard to read through, but great to get very basic information and demonstrations of the basic exercises.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not what the title implies
This book is designed for mega body builders who want advice on taking lots of supplements in order to bulk up and obtain the type of physique shown on the cover. It is not very good at explaining how to get maximum nutritional value from food in order to more efficiently burn fat, which is what I was hoping for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book that introduces sound advice and concepts
This book is largely Dent's take on the Macro Nutrient ratios i.e. how much of our food intake should be Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat. In Macrobolic Nutrition these ratio's are 45% Carbs, 35% Protein, and 20% Fat.
5-0 out of 5 stars Macrobolic Nutrition
This book is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn more about how important the types of food we eat are when trying to sculpt a lean and muscular physique. It comes complete with Glycemic indexes, nutrient breakdowns, and caloric intake charts for people over/under 15%bodyfat, active/sedentary, breakfast, lunch and dinner meal plans. The best part about the diet is that it doesn't restrict anything. Without giving away everything the nutrient breakdown goes 45/35/20- carbs, protein, fat. The book gives detailed descriptions of when the best time is to take in your nutrients, and supplement recomendations. Given that Dente runs his own supplement company that isn't surprising, but the advice is solid and from what I've heard his MHP product line is top notch. As a personal trainer I have been recommending this diet to my clients, (but actually getting them to follow through is a different story). Try it for yourself and you won't be disappointed. ...
