5-0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent book!
Emotinally eating is nothing new--we've all done it, we'll probably do it in the future. The problem lies in the fact, as this book suggests, that we can overcome it and get onto better eating habits. Inside the book, I found invaluable information and want to definitely pass it along to others. This is one not to be missed! Another good one I've read and got a lot out of, as far as losing weight, is "Fatass No More".

5-0 out of 5 stars UNIVERSAL TRUTHS(with a Small Side of Silly)
It's been a long road to get to today.Same as all of us with these disorders.Tried everything, always failed.Always got to that point on a diet where an overwhelming "need" to eat just one more little bit lead to a full-blown, raging, ravenous inhalation of everything edible in sight, a trip to the store for more, and a promise to start again tomorrow, Monday, or on the 1st, or after the holidays are over, or after my birthday, etc. ad nauseum.
5-0 out of 5 stars So glad I found it
I would recommand this book to anyone that eats because of stress, depression, bored, etc. This book made me really think and gave good advice to realize why I eat the way I do.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just OK
I bought this book hopeing to get into shape for my wedding, I find it dificult to follow. Yes she does map out a plan but you have to filp back and forth and practilly memorize the book before you go to the gym to get the moves down!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great even for those whose wedding is years away
I actually didn't buy this book because I am getting married anytime soon - since I am not - but because I had heard that it is one of the most comprehensive exercise books out. From the ones that I have encountered, I have to agree. It combines easy to understand (not always so easy to do - at least the first time) routines with tips on how to get yourself motivated. And the charts that come with it are a great tool to get anyone started on a comprehensive fitness program, whether you have a year or just a few months.

5-0 out of 5 stars I WENT FROM LAZY TO ATHLETE!!!
If i could wrap up Tamara and her program and take them home I would! I went from being totally unmotivated to get my butt off the couch to exercising daily. i totally toned up and can now wear the clothing i want to. I feel fantastic. i have tons of energy, my confidence is soaring and i know i will be a beautiful bride. I changed my dress to something i really wanted - strapless - now that i have sexy arms. We just booked our honeymoon vacation and I can't wait to get on that bikini and hit the beach. Ladies, I highly recommend this book. The exercise routines are easy to follow, the nutritional section is tasty and the motivation keeps you going. Thanks Bootcamp360!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars 100 ideas in 100 days of intimate personal education
In her attempt to deal with the crisis of overeating and obesity, the author took a long shot at the psychology of such unrestrained human behavior. She started by defining the place of food in people's life, the rule of conscious behavior, and the body's response to over eating. She then tackles the motivation, emotion, and triggers that master such behavior and proposes distracting gimmicks to modify eating behavior. Finally, she hopes for long term adherence to a new healthy pattern of behavior that she strove to construct.
5-0 out of 5 stars Well written thought provoking book, good for focusing the reader to stay on track
A 44-year-old woman that has struggled to lose weight for a number of years writes this review. The combination of too much work, and not enough sleep and exercise resulted in "excess storage tissue" as my darling husband likes to call it.If you have ever struggled with excess weight and couldn't motivate yourself to stick with a diet for the long haul you should read this book.

To reap the holistic benefits of any mind-body exercise, students must relax and stay focused throughout their class. That's tough to do when the instructor seems to be--or actually is--speaking a foreign language, or when the physical movements seem equally foreign to the body. In Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MindBody Fitness for Dummies
This book wins the"fitness relevance" award for being virtually the first to apolitically and respectfully describe the major mindful exercise modalities that exist in the West today - in one concise volume. There are hundreds of yoga, tai chi, Pilates, martial arts and derivative publications today each extolling the papal and fitness-related virtues of their own species of mind-body exercise. Therese has put together a utilitarian compendium of the classical and contemporary forms, yes in somewhat abstract form, but always with skillful instruction and quite meaningful resources. This is a wonderfully organized reference for those desiring a wide-angle and descriptive view of the major players in mind-body exercise modalities. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for the neophyte, nothing new
This is a good book to have if you know nothing about nutrition and want to learn some of the basics. You can collect all the basic information here through general Internet research. True, it's nice to have it all in one place in a logical format, but I really expected much more detailed advice for a book targeted specifically to endurance athletes than 'you need to manage your carbohydrates over the length of the event'-type advice. Not worth the money in my opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to digest (sorry!) and helped my riding a lot
Ryan's writing is clear and effective. I had some of the basic concepts, but reading her book really clarified how to eat before, during, and after long bike rides. Since reading her book I've set a number of PRs for long rides, due in large part to changing my pre-ride and recovery eating habits. I strongly recommend this book to any endurance athlete who wants to feel better while running or cycling. It's the next-best thing to seeing a nutritionist in person (which I also recommend).

5-0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile Sports Nutrition Book
As a coach, I want my athletes to not only be training well, but using sound nutritional strategies.

1-0 out of 5 stars underwhelmed
I ordered what I thought was a full size intro to yoga book and got the pee wee version for elves. I had been breathlessly waiting for my full size edition to arrive in the mail because I was so excited to be starting yoga. As I held the pitifully small thing in my hand I got so depressed because it reminded me of some bad relationships i've had in the past--big promises and nothing to back it up with. I binged on a quart of dulce de leche ice cream and a dozen black bottom cupcakes to try to numb my pain. These evil satanic deceivers must be stopped.

4-0 out of 5 stars For beginners
This basic manual for Pilates is especially helpful because of the cautions about avoiding poor form while you're doing the exercises. The limitations of any book attempting to teach you how to do physical movements is offset by the authors' knowledge of what mistakes typical beginners make.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not good for a complete novice.
I'm training for a certain activity and was told that Pilates would be great to do because many people in the sport do it.I knew _absolutely nothing_ about Pilates.I asked around at local fitness clubs but couldn't find any instructors.Lacking local instruction, I bought this book based on the recommendations here.
5-0 out of 5 stars A treasure chest of Pilates exercises for a hard body
Joseph H. Pilates, the German inventor of the Pilates exercise method must be smiling in the heavens. The lifelong pacifist who was born in Dusseldorf, Germany in 1880... devoted his life to the study of physical education. He moved to the United States in 1926 and afterwards became active with the New York City Ballet."Pilates; body in motion," by Alycea Ungaro of Tribeca Bodyworks is a treasure chest of Pilate exercises for a hard body.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific workout for beginners or masters
This is a great workout for getting into shape or staying in shape. These exercises help build flexibility and strength. The exercises start out simple and slowly build in complexity. If you get to a point where you don't feel quite up to moving on just keep doing the exercises you are comfortable with until you feel ready for more. Most of the exercises are simple enough that you can do them anywhere. You might get strange looks from people, but don't let that stop you.
3-0 out of 5 stars transforming body and soul
When asked if I would like to review a book called The Shaolin Workout, 28 Days to Transforming Your Body and Soul the Warrior's Way, by Sifu Shi Yan Ming, I paused not quite sure that I needed to be transformed the warrior way. However, my doctor is always preaching the benefits of having a good workout and feeling a little guilty because mine is somewhat lacking, I said why not? After having two children, my life has changed quite dramatically. I have given up my job as a librarian to stay home with my babies. We also, have pigs, a few dozen chickens, and a goose, as well as a large garden. So my idea of a workout entails chasing chickens from said garden, lugging a Kirby vacuume up-stairs, or dancing to the tune of Victor Vito with my children three to five times daily. I also should add that I haven't slept through the night in three years and am somewhat addicted to coffee. Like I need to learn Kung Fu!

Gelb writes very clearly, with good illustrations describing F. M. Alexander's technique for good body use. Many actors, singers, and dancers use this technique, and many people who suffer from joint andmuscle disabilities can benefit from this book. Gelb's personal experiences help the reader to understand how to benefit from the techniques and exercises he describes.

5-0 out of 5 stars The clearest book on AT out there
If you are studying the Alexander Technique - whether just beginning or a more advanced student - this book is a Must!Easy to read and digest, it should be on every teacher's list. However, it is important to note that the Alexander Technique can not be learned by reading books alone.Reading this book is not a way to learn the technique. But it is a terrific supplement to private individual lessons with a good teacher!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wanna A Be A Pro Pool Player
I read the book the week before entering a pool tournament. This tournament I have played in for several years, and I never came close to cashing. After reading the book and trying what it suggested I finished 8th out of 98 players and cashing for over $300.What I'm proud of the most is not the 8th place finish or the cashing, it is the level I performed at during the tournament. It works it is just a matter of time to practice what the book shows you.

The book is technical and practical without being overly academic.

The book is extremely entertaining and it might save your life, too. It covers scenarios James Bond would aspire to.
5-0 out of 5 stars tongue in cheek

4-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!
I bought this book for my son because it's on his "wish list." I laughed so loud in my bathroom that my husband thought I'd won the war with my grey hair again (I pluck them religiously). 5-0 out of 5 stars The Art of Expressing the Human Body
There was a time that I was skeptical that a 145 lb., 5'7", individual could have anything to offer as far as offering instruction on building tremendous physical strength and acheiving combat skills that are rivaled by few. This book deals with the first point...that of building tremendous physical strength which would be utilized for acheiving excelling combat skills. Great insight into the mind of a man who I once doubted could acheive such greatness.

5-0 out of 5 stars Technique is wisdom. To train is power.
What an outlandishly brilliant collection of Bruce Lee's personal training regimine. This is utterly priceless for its detail and stark showing of Bruce's true grit.It was a fight at a local dojo instigated by a rival martial arts group in China Town, San Francisco (actually they disapproved, as many did, Bruce's teaching such high quality lessons to Americans - really can't blame them) that spurred Bruce on to investigate and finally put to practice the lessons of bodybuilding and strength training.Extreme conditoning also - i.e. lots of cardio (2-6 mile jogs; 45 minute stationary biking; interval training, where you sprint several hundred yards then jog, then sprint, then jog and so on).
1-0 out of 5 stars Dont' bother
I was very disappointed in this book. It's not quite sure what it's supposed to be, and so, ends up being nothing. There are endless lists of workout routines that Bruce Lee supposedly used. But, they usually have little or no explanation, so are useless. There is no, repeat no, nutritional info that you can't find in a free booklet in any supermarket. There are weight training guidelines for rank beginners, but nothing that hasn't been done better by weight training or martial arts magazines.

I just got this book. Thought I'd try it for prevention. I don't have any wrinkles or sagging yet. One thing I noticed that made me very leery: The people shown in the before and after pictures are wearing the exact same clothing, including accessories. The pictures were supposedly taken 7 days apart. I e-mailed the company and asked about this; I told them it made me think some Photoshop had been used. I was told they purposely had the models wear the same clothes and makeup. Ummm...OK. Also, the instructional pictures in this book don't really show you anything. In fact, most of the sequential photos are identical. I asked about this too, and I was told to buy the DVD. Ummm...OK.

3-0 out of 5 stars not for single women !
This book is basically about increasing intimacy, through sex, in a relationship. as a how to guide, it sucks. there are no actual usable pysical tips or guidelines. however if you are looking to spice up a longstanding relationship, this would suit you down to the ground.

5-0 out of 5 stars 203 ways to drive a man wild in bed
After reading the reviews I was execpting a book that was helpful and informative here and there. I've learned lots from this book. It decusses things that I wanted to know but, would talk to anyone about in million years. It's written in a sudective yet tasteful manner. No cut and dried steps, diagrams, or pictures with arrows to guide you along. Too bad! he he he

After reading several of another reviewer's reviews of this kind of book, my interest was piqued, so while wandering around in my local bookstore I decided to pick one up and see just what some of the girls were reading. I glanced through this very short book (only 129 pages) and all of a sudden I was embarrassed. I looked around, wondering if anybody else had seen what I'd had in hand and instantly locked onto Mrs. Doubtfire's disapproving glare. "Heh, heh," I laughed. She didn't laugh back.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good read
A good book, but BodyOpus is really only a small section in the back. The sections on drugs and diuretics seem more like a bonus than essential, although I'm not a pro body builder.Lots of detail on biochemistry, written in a bit of an arrogant tone geared towards the alpha male for sure.

5-0 out of 5 stars The next level.
I love this book! It was like, the curtain to all the secrets was lifted, and now I know too. I was very familiar with ketogenic diets before reading this and I'm not interested in using steriods, although I appreciated the education. Plus I picked up a whole swag of new tools to go from "normal to extraordinary". This is compulsory reading for anyone serious about bodybuilding, fitness and achieving an amazing body. Period.

5-0 out of 5 stars Duchaine: Play time is over!
This guy knows of what he speaks. He used to work with Bill Phillips and Muscle Media 2000 back when it was cutting-edge publication, and this is even more hard-core info if you remember those days. This is the 2nd copy I have bought as my 1st one "disappeared". I was even a subscriber to D'Duchaine's newsletter. This is for those people tired of stop-gaps and half-measures. Simply put, Dan knows what he knows and this diet works. Good luck - and stay HARD! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended as an NSCA-PT study guide, or referencebook.
This is pretty much the only book I've been reading for the past couple of months as I prepared for the NSCA's personal trainer exam.I am fairly sure I passed the exam, and I doubt I could have passed without the help of this book and NSCA's exercise techniques DVD which is sold separately.[Update - I DID pass the exam!:-) ]This 674 text is packed full of information and can not be breezed through Harriet Klausner style.
