The Ultimate Homeschool Physical Education Game Book by physical education instructor and sports coach Guy Bailey is a very highly recommended guide for homeschooling parents which is filled from cover to cover with games and activities designed to teach children fitness, sports skills, and the joy of exercise. From simplified versions of traditional favorites such as basketball, football, soccer, and softball, to variants of tag, rope jumping, and playground games such as kickball, The Ultimate Homeschool Physical Education Game Book is an invaluable and "user friendly" resource which is dearly needed in a world overly saturated with television and other passive entertainments. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars For people with kids over 9
I had great expectations for this book.I respect Dr Cooper and his work.Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the book. There are 115 pages of nutritonrelated information mostly suggested menus and recipes - thereare lots of good nutrition books for kids. The fitness evaluations weremostly for kids 10 and older. He recommends an active lifestyle andsports, but that's not worth the money to me.I'd say check this book outat the library for the fitness test information but keep your money in yourpocket on this one. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Yogi
I take teen classes with Mary Kaye and enjoy them a lot! All of my family and friends have purchased the book and love it! I think the book is a great way for kids to learn yoga. The classes and the book combine balance poses and hip openers and end with relaxing poses. I always feel great after yoga, and I am glad I discovered it early in my life!

5-0 out of 5 stars Yoga with ENERGY
WOW!!Finally a great yoga book for kids. Some of the other instructional books out there seem boring to my children...and me! This book is so well done. Some of my kids do yoga regularly and some don't, but they all enjoy looking at this book and trying the yoga poses. The pictures are very self explanatory. For the non-readers, the children are able to look at the pictures and do the poses. For the older children, they can see how to do the pose and then read an explanation in very easy to understand text.We look forward to another book from this author for teens!!! Namaste.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love Yoga!
My children are too young for the yoga classes offered in my area (and there are very few studios). This book was suggested by my sister who lives in the NE, my 3 and 5 year old children love it!It is a great resource for learning the basics of yoga at home. It's also something different and fun for my kids who are now tapped out on the "sameness" of the classes offered....gymnastics, ballet, etc.We now love yoga! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Crucial book for ambitious parents
Rae Pica is very passionate about her subject, and provides the data to back up her beliefs. Parenting is so difficult, not just because children are so impressionable and innocent, and yet so demanding, but also because parents themselves cannot help but regress to their own childhoods. Books like this help to keep parents sane, reminding them that their good intentions will not heal the human race until they are aligned with the natural and healthy development of each individual personality that is in their care. This book provides much evidence of the importance of a more intelligent approach to mental, emotional and physical development than is currently employed in the vast majority of US schools. The games and suggestions she gives are easy for anyone to employ, no matter how tired or overwrought a parent may be! I'm especially pleased about her comment on swimming -- my niece was a competitive swimmer from a very young age, and although she was nationally ranked for her age, development of her muscular & bone structure became problematic (and expensive!) during her teens. (Why no one mentions this when they talk about how Michael Phelps can't walk or run properly is beyone me!) But not only parents should read this -- it's so easy to understand, that I'd give it to the babysitter too... they have just as much influence on your child as anyone else.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide to encouraging physical activity
If you are interested in encouraging your child to adopt a more active lifestyle, you will want to add this book to your parenting book library. Rae Pica has written a well-researched, parent-friendly guide to promoting physical fitness in children. She starts out by talking out about the reasons parents will want to encourage their kids to become more physically active (e.g., the scary childhood obesity stats that stare us in the face every time we open the health section of a newspaper these days) and then warns of the perils of forcing your child to become a 'superkid' (a child who lives and breathes sports 24/7). She then goes on to talk about the important role parents have to play in promoting physical activity in children and offers some concrete strategies for doing so. The result is an excellent guide that every parent who is serious about combatting the childhood obesity crisis should own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great overall fitness book
I am currently in my Universities Army ROTC program and was just looking for a new way to increase my PT scores and break the monotony of our training regimen. This book's program will improve your overall fintess (military geared of course) and the ability to contact Stew himself is just awesome.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have ordered two of Stew's books now and each of them have helped me improve my PT scores for the military.I recommend any book that Stew has wrote.I am sure you will improve just as I have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fitness Bible
This is a great book if you are in decent shape and want to take your game to the next level, so to speak. It has a yearlong program that I think helps both in the short term and over a period of years. All the pictures and explanations make it so you can do the workouts even if you've never heard of a pushup before reading the book. Also, this program is less dependent on weight machines than others, until you get to the powerlifting phase. I plan on joining the military and these workouts are perfect for that kind of cross-training, non-specialized fitness. I've been doing Stew Smith's workouts for a few months now and I've made a yearlong plan combining this book and Smith's other "The Complete Guide to Navy Seal Fitness." If all goes as planned, I could see myself using this program for the rest of my life. ... Read more
