I wish I could give this book ten stars!
This is the best book I have ever read on Alexnader Technique and I should know as I have been a teacher for over thirty years. This book tells it like it really is without the hype, the bull, the nonsense. At last soemone - Richard Craze - got it right. This is the book for anyone who wants to know what Alexander himself taught. This is the back to basics book. this is the real stuff. A gem of a book. I cannot recommed it highly enough. If you only ever buy one book on the ALexander Technique then let this be the one. Simply brilliant.

Not a helpful book.
This book may be useful in introducing people to the many benefits of the Alexander Technique, but it contains a great many inaccuracies and oversimplifications.It is possible to learn a good deal on one's own -although the help of a qualified teacher can save you a lot of time.Ifyou don't have access to an Alexander Teacher and want to try learning theTechnique on your own, get "How to Learn the Alexander Technique"by Barbara Conable.If you want to understand the basics of the Technique,get "Fitness Without Stress" by Robert Rickover or "BodyLearning" by Michael Gelb. ... Using the force
The reason I bought this book was to gain knowledge on how we can use "energy" as a force. I am learning to ways of the Jedi Religion, and part of the belief is that energy is all around us, it is how we harness the energy and use it in our lives. This book is very usefull in this context, from looking at energy we have in our emotion, to physical energy. Email me for more info.

Good For The Beginner
There is a lot of Graphic and Color for your money.The text is from other texts. I like the photo of the pixieish author on the back cover, but it's not enough to keep me from wishing there were more for this anxious to learn student seeking truth. If you are looking for an easy way into your esoteric learnings, tho', this could be just the one for your "now".

50 year old beginner

I'm the current librarian for a calligraphy guild, and stumbled on an older printing of this book as I was getting acquainted with my new duties. Dover Books are unassailable in general: you always get so much for so little. And the subject matter somehow always interests me.Read more
