3-0 out of 5 stars Love the oblique exercises
One great thing about this book is that it acknowledges and celebrates the different fitness levels in society. Its not a one size fits all type of a thing.Even though Kurt addresses the "abs", inside you will find useful information on the lower back as well as the deep core muscles that are important for movement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Proper AB training explained
The book is good, and really details the proper way to train your core.It is focused on training your lower abs so that they will adequately compensate for antagonizing muscles.Proper training of the abdominal muscles will result in better posture, less exposure to injury and better definition of the core muscles. It's critical to strengthen your core since it must stabilize you in almost all body movements. This book is a great step in learning how to do this. The diet info at the end is a little out-dated, and based on low fat intake. After reading this section, I would recommend skipping it and instead following the advice for diet and nutrition found in Paul Chek's latest book Eat, Move, and Be Healthy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book on ab development, but outdated
I have to give this book credit, it sticks to its topic very well, making the book concise and easy to follow. It opens with the basics of ab anatomy and then moves in to various exercises and programs for strengthening and developing the abdominals.Only at the end does it stray slightly off course and discuss the nutritional aspects of ab development.4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely very good for beginner
Definitely very good for beginner, although I have to agree that flipping pages back and forth during the exercise is not very convenient. Authors could position material better or include a separate workout sheet. Most of the excersices can be done at home. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Idiot Proof Abs
I believe it is an Excellent book. At first it might seem radical or Unconventional, but Pavel is No Non-sense. He does Not give you B.S.
5-0 out of 5 stars Ab Great
Sure there is self promotion in it but this has to be one of the best ab books I have ever bought. The exercises are new and fun. Don't get me wrong. They are challenging but once you read one of Pavel's books you'll know he knows what he is talking about. Thanks Pavel!

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book for your athletic/fitness library
This book gets to the core of what an abdominal exercise should be based on, and that is function. A very good book of no doubt the most effective abdominal exercises. The only thing aggravating is the author's peddling of his "pavel-izer", this is probably a very effective abdominal tool, as I have full faith in Pavel's methods, but it does seem to be a bit hypocritical to knock all the infomercial crap and then put your own in a book like this. I am a very big fan of Pavel and his books, he is definately a leader in intelligent and effective strength training methods...however if it werent't for that I probably would have put the book down as soon as he started the sales pitch. A very good book however, if you look past the first chapter of my aforementioned subject. For those of you looking for something effective and to the point here you go, but also note that many of the exercises are best performed with a training partner, and most take some practice. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Ab and General Fitness Book
This book might not seem to be good at first. Not many colored pictures, no fancy book design, just simple straightforward diagrams depicting different Ab workouts. However, when you read through the entire book you learn everything you need to know about general health(how to eat right, what to eat, when to eat) and how to finnaly get those tight ABS you've always wanted while being able to show them off from your correct diet.Thats whats so nice about this book is that its straightforward. You want to lose wieght?Eat these things, workout using these routines, and use your common sense.I've been on the program for two weeks and can tell the workouts are very effective.Plus since there are a multitude of Ab workouts when you become more advanced you can start to make your own programs from the workouts.I'm in pretty good shape and use to do martial arts and find these workouts just for the ABs very good and when i finnaly get back into shape I can go harder using the book as a guideline.Thats whats so nice about it.If your a beginner you'll start off slow.If your advanced you've got some nice workouts to target your stomch muscles too.Every level is in this book. But just like anything, you have to use your common sense and know that its gonna take devotion and time to get the results you want. The book is only a guideline. You have to stick to it or nothing will happen.

5-0 out of 5 stars No nonsense information, great jumpstart to a better health
If you're about to start on your journey to a better health, this is THE book you should read. Hey, it's cheap, it goes straight to the facts you need about nutrition and exercise without needing ten 660 page volumes. I went through it in two days. Most other books I buy usually stay on the shelves for ever if the first 50 pages haven't hooked me. The stuff you'll learn will just keep you wanting to read some more. Highly recommended. Hoo Yah!

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid information that works for men and women
I have read this fitness gem several times and it is concise, detailed, research based, easy to read, and it works!
2-0 out of 5 stars Challenged by layout and lack of information geared toward female readers
The book had some tangible information but nothing that you couldn't find for free on a site like muscleandfitness.com, realsolutions.com or muscleandfitnesshers.com. When it came to supplements, there was no specific data with intake per pound of body weight consideration or with reference to females specifically. So everyone was given the same a scattering of information (I indicate scattering because a chart or localized set of data wasn't provided - the data was just shared throughout the book and then a generic description of each supplement was indicated and when to take them - not quantity per gender or pound, which in all other supplement guides tends to be pretty standard information. The book could have been condensed to about 6 pages of usable info if you removed all the over-the-top medical research data supporting the studies of the supplements he recommends. A more useful, grounded book is 5-factor Fitness. I'm giving 6 Pack Diet Plan two stars because I did find a couple supplements indicated in this book I hadn't found in prior research I've come across.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent detailed information.
Although the book has very specific technical information, I have benifitted from it a lot.I am following the diet as best as I can and following the excercise plan. I have experienced results just after about 2 weeks.I consider this book a treasure. ... Read more

I was very pleasently suprised when I opend this book. It is so nicely laid out and written in terninology that I could understand. The workouts are great and the diet plan and tips have me looking better after only 2 weeks. I have read about 100 fitness books in my life but this is by far the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Finally someone wrote an ab book that I can actually use. Every Ab exercise in the book is demonstrated with a color photo you can actually see. Mr.Sepe does not waste his time with 1000 ab exercises, he gives you the best of the best with easy to challenging workouts. I also liked the full body workout that you can do anywhere. Not everyone has time to train at the gym and not everyone has money to spend. The only investment you need foragreat set of abs is time and a good plan and Mr.Sepe gives you a great plan that won't cost you 1000 dollars at your athletic supply store. The diet tips, workouts and ab routines have in this book have given me a flat stomach for the first time ever....... ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps even more misleading than the original Power Factor book.
Power Factor Trainingis a theory that has been disproven by -thousands- of dissatisfied trainees, (yes it works for a-tiny- minority of genetically appropriate responders) . In the case of midsection work, it's even more useless. The only thing that makes your abs look good is -leanness-.A combination of diet, full-range strength building and aerobic exercise is the way. Power Factor Training does nothing for enhancing leanness, nothing. (If anyone thinks the model on the cover got this way from Power Factor Training, think again).

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST AB BOOK
The information provided in this latest edition of the "Power Factor Specialization" series is first-rate. All scientific, all proven and geared to make every workout efficient, this book is the ultimate ab (andleg) training book I've ever read. If you want a chisled midsection andmuscular, powerful legs, then you will definitely benefit from theinformation in this book. All of the ab and leg exercises are rated, sothat you will never again waste time on an unproductive exercise. The PowerFactor Specialization series is the best "training" series ofbooks I've ever read. They should be compulsory for all personal trainerswho take their business seriously. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A superb read with important information
I bought this book after attending a seminar with this extraordinary lady - more on that in a moment. The book is invaluable to ANYONE who wants to eliminate back-pain immediately. Most of us have been told so many times to "stand up straight, don't slouch" that we do precisely the wrong thing, over-arching and putting strain and stress on our back each and every day. With Dr. Bookspans straightforward, no-nonsense approach, you can instantly modify your posture and the pain/ache in your lower back IS GONE!What is deceptive is how easy this is to accomplish and so on first read, you might not totally grasp the concept.Take your time with the book, try each modification and exercise as she clearly explains it, and give it a try.Your first goal should be to stop the pain, your second to start strengthening your abs and back by retraining your daily habits - and let me tell you, you'll thank her for it.As a 40 year old martial arts instructor with 24 years experience, I was fortunate enough to attend one of her seminars. That's where she really works her magic, face to face. She utilized the concepts in her book tochange the way a room full of martial arts instructors and grandmasters live their daily lives. For all of our knowledge and experience, Dr. Bookspan provided a collective epiphany to over 60 veteran martial artists, we were all shaking our heads in amazement and smiling at how good our backs felt. It's practical and it WORKS!To her credit, Dr. Bookspan LIVES her healthy lifestyle philosophy. This book is not very big, nor is Dr. Bookspan - but both are filled with tremendous power and wisdom.Everyone could benefit from the Ab Revolution.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good information.
When I received this book in the mail, I wondered why such a thin book was so expensive. It took several re-readings before I got the main point of the book, which was actually so simple that it was no wonder I missed it the first time.Except for the isometric exercise, most of the other exercises outlined in the book are just too difficult for me, and I don't think I am in such bad shape for my age (45 yr. old female).I also think it would have been a lot better if each exercise had it's own picture or picture series, because it was a bit cumbersome to READ all the explanations of how to do everything.Lots of good information on what works, why, and what doesn't and why.I think this author knows what she is talking about, and I am sure that if I met her in person I would like her because she is so sensible in her approach, but a good book editor could have helped to put it all together in a more readable fashion. This book is worth the read and the effort to extract the important message this author is promoting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting new book is a true revolution in ab fitness.
Forget machines and crunches...they promote poor posture and don't teach you to use your abs the way you need for real life. The Ab Revolution is an exciting new training method that will shake up your entire concept of abs and ab training. The Ab Revolution revolutionizes your understanding of what abdominal muscles do (and don't do), and shows you how to transfer fitness and muscular use to daily life not just exercises in a gym. It thoroughly covers the most frequently asked (and misunderstood) aspects of developing ab and core strength for exercise, posture control, and back pain prevention, and teaches how to use your abs and back at the same time for normal daily activities while standing up, from the simplest daily life activities to the most advanced and challenging maneuvers.Read more

Abdominals are the stubborn problem area for exercisers of all fitness levels and both genders. 4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Training
This is a great training book for abs.Seabourne and Cole have compiled a comprehensive series of core exercises while simultaneously delivering a witty banter to provide a workout philosophy that encompasses the exercises. The focus is not on a wrote routine of 1000 crunches, 100 leg lifts, etc.Rather, the authors tell you to focus your mind on the muscle group you're working so you complete each repetition with perfect form and maximum benefit.
1-0 out of 5 stars Bizarre book
This book has about as much to do with abs as a book on stamp collecting. From the bizarre pictures of a guy doing strange contortionist exercises on the edge of a pool and then in the pool to the useless plyometrics exercises to the "repulse the monkey" and "power slide" exercises, I found this book utterly useless and, quite frankly, a joke.Don't bother.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent core fitness
Scott Cole and Tom Seabourne have put together an excellent book about core fitness, covering a lot of new trends.I don't know what the reviewer from Australia was reading, but it certainly wasn't this book. For one thing, the reader is talking about a video, so I don't think he posted his review on the right page.Oh well.Regardless, this book is great in that it contains much more than mere exhortations to do endless numbers of crunches. The authors' concept of "controlled instability" permeates the book, and indicates something of their philosophy of fitness.Instead of isolating the abs, the authors advocate using the abs in concert with the rest of your body to develop functional strength. They cover a lot of exercises from yoga and various martial arts, as well as exercises that utilize the stability ball and the medicine ball. All of these exercises are designed not just to give you a sculpted six-pack, but to stabilize your body and provide you with a strong core.Almost every series of movements(whether in sport or in life) originates from your core muscles, and this book will allow you strengthen the foundation of such movements. This is not a revolutionary new program, but no book on abdominal training is truly revolutionary. What the authors have done is present the best of current thinking on the subject in a concise and accessible manner. If you just want to get a six-pack, there are a number of books that can point you in that direction(try any of Kurt Brungardt's books). But if you want to develop a strong core that can improve your performance in almost any sport, then this is the book you want. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not as good as other books on Abs.
Everybody wants flatter, firmer Abs. This book does provide good information, but not what I was expecting. The excerises are tiring and if you're not careful, you'll end up sore. I asked my personal trainer about this book and he did not recommend it. Instead he recommended "six pack Abs", I've already read it and I loved it!. He also recommended "Awesome Abs". I already ordered it I can't wait to receive it.As for this book, It's ok. I don't think it targets the right areas. but some of the infrmation provided here are not all bad either.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as new books.
I read this book and was very disappointed. After doing the excerises mentioned in this book, you'll end up feeling sore, not only from your stomach, but you're back will hurt. I didn't really see any results after 2 months of everyday exercising because I didn't feel it was targeting all the stomach area. I just finished reading a much better book called "3-minute Ab's". It was much easier to understand, the exercies are eaiser to perform and the only thing that is sore after your abdominal exercise is your stomach(not your back). I have been doing the exercises to this new book for only four weeks and I can see the results already. The best thing is, this book targets the sides of your stomach too, not just the middle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great exercises
This book is great if you want to do a series of exercises to tone different parts of your body. The book has 40 exercises altogether. To perform the exercises you'll need so 3 or 5 pound weights, an unweighted bar, and some ankle weights (you can substitute with cans of soup, a broom handle, and some towels or something around your legs in the beginning).I found the exercises great as they each target a different muscle. This was a great addition to my cardio routine. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great descriptive pictures
Great book. Descriptive color pictures on how to perform the exercises is very helpful. This book walks you through each body part. You can work through a program of one particular part or a whole body work out program. One downfall, the whole body work out is meant to be preformed in a gym; wish this wasn't so. The other programs show you exercises for home and gym.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great workout variety for all levels of fitness!
This book is very detailed with colored pictures, perfect for beginners, intermediate and advanced. Many different workout routines for at home or gym. Also includes info on pilates, yoga, cardio, stretching, workout myths, proper form, the human body, and recipes. You will never get bored with this book, plenty of variety and inspiration!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great For Variety
As a Pro Trainer, I've learned one of the key elements to any successful fitness program is variety.

4-0 out of 5 stars Goodab works and basix building blocks
Workout had good abdominalbuilding blocks in terms of scoope and quality of exercises except for the fact that the exercise pictures only had beginning and end so motion was sometimes vague. I myself witnessed a definite turn around in terms of my fitness due to the excellent muscle-building fat-burning diet. Not the best for experenced builders but great for beginners to ab exercises and a references to vets. ... Read more
