I live in Boulder, Colorado, the center of the fitness universe, where body fat is considered a physical disability. I hike, run, cycle, spin, do yoga, and work out daily. Six months ago, I started the "Abs Diet" with the objective of losing weight and trimming my stomach. I also adding moderate weightlifting to my workout routine. Although it really hasn't seemed that I'm "dieting," has it worked?

i'm am a big fan of all of the abs diet books but this one is one of my favorites! i have the hardest time when it comes to the food part of a diet and exercise program and this book has so many wonderful and new recipes in it that it gave me the opportunity to really change up my menu and stick to the program. the best part of this book to me is all of the smoothie recipes!! i love using smoothies as a meal suppliment and these recipes are so good and easy to make!!

Since receiving this book in the mail only a few weeks ago, I have read it cover to cover, highlighted and underlined key ideas, and referred back to it dozens of times.The author writes in a simple, yet entertaining tone using lots of humorous metaphors. I followed this plan RELIGIOUSLY for over 8 weeks and I gained 7 pounds, mostly around my belly and face!I bought everything on the shopping list, some items were never even used in the recipies!This book contradicts itself several times about 'eating before working out, or eating after working out', '3 alcoholic drinks per week, or 2 per day', etc, etc. The other thing I found frustrating was the fact that most of the recipes if followed directly (which I thought was the idea!) are for 4 servings, so I found myself eating the same thing a lot, or a ton of leftovers and wasted food.

This book has inspired my husband and I to tweak our diets just a little, yet we've had remarkable consequences.We are not following the "diet" per se, but we are using the nutritional advice suggested in the book.We've both lost weight, although he keeps losing (luck of male genes).The book is easy to read and humorous, too.Great examples and even the exercises are doable.Everyone should read the book - it will get you eating to live.Don't worry about the "diet" in the title.But even if you do follow the diet suggested, it's quite reasonable, allowing for one meal of anything you want. ... This latest book in the Abs Diet franchise is essentially another recipe book. As the title indicates, these are quickie recipes that can be made in minutes, though they throw in a few more involved meals at the end. Be clear, these are tasty and healthful recipes aimed at the fitness-oriented individual. You don't have to necessarily be following the Abs Diet plan per se, but anyone who has adopted a weightlifting + aerobics exercise program with a high-protein, controlled-carb and controlled-fat diet will find this book has what you're looking for, especially if you want meals you can make quickly and stick into a tupperware container to eat throughout the day.

This is overkill in my opinion. Focus on a program like his brother's 'body for life' and with consistent training you will see more defined abs in 12 weeks. ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN.

In this 130-page book, there are 23 full-page photographs of the author, posing on mountains, streets, in front of his home front door, on lakes, under the shower, with and without glasses, you name it. Before you get to chapter 6, which contains 10 pages, the first 5 chapters range in length from 2 to 5 pages. Whether it is relevant or not, the author scatters his personal photos everywhere in the book.

Hesitated getting this book at first as I've already seen countless books on the ABS issue. Decided in the end to get because of it's compact size and easy to follow simple steps. Results were obvious after 2 weeks and now I carry it along when I'm travelling though I already knew the steps and sequence by heart. One of the extremely few impulsive buys I didn't regret.

This books is simply great. I've been using it for about 8 weeks and the six pack is definately there. The book has three workouts, each of about 8 exercises, and each taking about 15-20 mins. For it to work I guess you have to exercise 3 or 4 times a week (as I have). The book does have some hard and unusual exercises in it, such as the ball-pike and bench reverse crunch. Many of the exercises may seem familiar and similar to each other, but the book succeeds in three key areas: Firstly it helps you focus your workout on your abs (rather than just doing a few crunches before you leave the gym.) Secondly, the pictures and explanations help you get your technique right, and technique is everything! Thirdly each workout is designed as a set of exercises that complement each other and when performed together in a workout have a greater effect than when performed in isolation.Read more

When I heard pilates on a ball, I was ecstatic! I was just impressed by the creativity used in coming up with such wonderful exercises.I attempted many of the exercises, and I just saw how valuable they would be to athletes, who have been using traditional exercises for a long time.This new system, is so dynamic, and I just love the fact that even seasoned exercisers would be challenged positively.

Over the years I have collected a hodge-podge compendium of diverse but useful information for regaining or maintaining my health. When disease would appear, I researched scores of books on the subject, evaluated many different approaches, and then experimented until I found something that worked. As my body has changed, some solutions that worked before no longer worked. The task of maintaining the body has become much more complex.

"Can We Live 150 Years" is an interesting book which provides plenty of useful advice for staying healthy. The book does not bog down the reader with sophisticated terminology as a genuine medical book might. It simply offers straightforward advice that is designed to help the reader in a variety of areas from maintaining a well-balanced diet to getting the right kinds of exercise to ameliorating illnesses. The author shows if readers that by following the tips provided in this text, then their bodies will survive for a very long time.

If somehow you manage to overlook the numerous typos(and, boy there are ALOT) If you manage to overlook the poor grammer and use of the English language, you're left with a book that has NO useful information in it. For example, the chapter on Complete Body Cleaning recommends making your own toothpaste and using birch twigs to brush your teeth! The liver and kidney cleansing routines are so radical that I would be afraid of using them and when I showed these techniques to my doctor she said that there were several issues that could actually be harmful to people. In addition, the book loses credibility because of this author references to cosmic rhythms, tying certain disorders to one's astrological sign. He also generalized on health issues related to the color of one's eyes...not a very scientific standard on which to base diagnosis. This book's whole philosophy is using enemas 3-5 times a week. If this sounds like your kinda health plan, then pick yourself up a copy. When the rest of us get done laughing, we'll look elsewhere.

The instructions in this book are so easy to understand.The exercises are varied- from basic to complex, there is something in it for everyone, regardless of your physical condition.I have a home gym and have been able to use my own equiptment (weights, ball, etc.) If ever an exercise calls for something I don't have, I just choose another exercise to do instead.There are also LOTS of mat exercises too.I have the other book by these authors- the Body Sculpting Bible and I love it!I use it everytday.This ab book has been a nice complement to my regular exercise routine.

This book is not for the beginner!

I admit that the diet part it lacking, but one search on a search engine can pull up anything you need to know about diets. The workouts in this book range in difficulty, and some you really have to build up to. The pictures and explanations of how to do the exercises are great, and the trainers tips can help you fix some common mistakes you might make. I like how it also goes over working out with gym equipment, medicine ball, an aerobics workout ball, and on the floor. This book is packed with exercises that even if you have a 6-pack it will still make you feel the burn. For people who expect more than this, I cant imagine being able to master all the exercises in this book and being able to do some of the aerobics ball workouts more than 15 repititions. I am already seeing my abs come out, with diet and exercise of course, and without this book I would be stuck in a rut not knowing how to work out all areas of my abdominals.

I have been bellydancing for over 2 years now and I own dozens upon dozens of bellydance DVDs and a few books. I absolutely love this book and the cd is just fantastic. I am constantly recommending this book and all of Rania DVDs to everyone I know who is interested in bellydance. Everything about this book is informative and encouraging! Because of her DVDs and book, I am so proud to say I bellydance!

This is a great book, with tons of gorgeous pictures and info about starting bellydance.Rania is also gorgeous, but not in an intimidating way, so you feel like you could be just as sexy as she is by bellydancing.This book and the one by Tamalyn Dallal definitely have a place on my bookshelf now, and the CD that comes with this book, which is full of great songs to get you started, has an almost permanent home in my CD player. ... This is a great book. It gives you all the information you might need to develop strong abs and core. It answers questions such as how often you should work your abs. But it also shows you around 100 exercises from which you can develop your own workouts. It also offers routines for you. It shows you how to do each exercise.

Ah, I remember when my ab routine consisted of three rep sit ups tacked onto the end of a workout and my aerobics consisted of running across the gym parking lot get to the donut shop. I had a 28" waist and standout abs for years until I begrudginly entered my 30s. It was like I could literally see my abs dissappearing but yet I remained optimistic, "Oh, they'll be back...it's okay...it's all under control..." And then by the time I got to 35 years old, they were gone.
