Thoughts from a Stroke Survivor
This is a great book! I have read a number of books written by stroke survivors and this is one of the best. This may well be because the book was completed several years after the event. This time gave Ms. Klein the chance to gather and refine her thoughts and experiences. The Story of a Stroke Survivor: A Hero, Her Family & Friends

The book combines the two. The first part of each chapter is from Hutton's diary. Through it we are able to learn the survivor's perspective. The second section is Dr Caplan's medical explanation. Cleo Hutton suffered several stroke episodes. This is not an unusual story as worldwide stroke is a widespread cerebrovascular dysfunction. Pages from her diary are present in this book.The book itself must remain as milestone for health books written for broader audiences. The reason is simple: a patient testimony is commented by a specialized doctor. Every corner, every step of Cleo's struggle, revenge and recovery is commented by Lou Kaplan, a well known neurologist in an open and clear manner. Several details are there, including the understanding of the several exams made by Cleo. Physical and psychological human relations were affected after Cleo's stroke. Weeks were deleted from her life while she struggled for getting back what her body had taken away from her. This is indeed a recommended book for all, from doctors to (possible) future patients. Not merely another book from a stroke survivor, this book should be considered the story of a stroke that didn't survived the patient where it appeared.Read more

Required Reading
This book should be required reading for anyone with even a remote interest in neurology or mental health.You will never again have the same response to mental health topics.

ACTUAL LIFE SAVER
After 5 years of my brother being diagnosed with schyzophrenia and coming in and out of mental institutions, this book came into the hands of my mother, who took him (when he was 23 years old) to Dr. Philpott's Hospital, at the time in St. Petersburg, Fla. To shorten, my brother is now 41 years old, has 3 children and has proved Dr. Philpott's stating he had cured 100% of the cases of "schyzophrenia" that came to his hands. Psychiatrists related to pharmaceuticals, of course, have always denied this capacity. If anyone knows if Dr. Philpott's work is being continued please advise to help all the victims of pharmaceuticals.
