Excellent Information
My mother-in-law was diagnosed with COPD several years ago, and is now in the final stages.She has been through so much, especially in the past six months as her life has slowly deteriorated due to breathlessness, constant illness and fatigue.This book provided very informative and personal views of COPD patients and gave me hope.It also reinforced the fact that we all need to take control of our health issues and persist if we feel we are not receiving the care that is available to us.I highly recommend this to anyone living with or supporting someone who is living with this terrible disease. ... Asthma and Allergy Help
I've read a lot of allergy books to help my daughter with her allergies. Allopathic medicine has hardly helped. In the process I've gotten to know a lot of other children with allergies and asthma. Several of us have really followed many of the suggestions in this book with fantastic results. Namely we have followed the supplement suggestions in the book, avoided the chemicals mentioned , and following the protocols for rotation and elimination diets. This is by far the most jam-packed-with-information book on the subject I have found. I wish the title made it clear that this will help with more than asthma, as it has helped my daughter with her allergies too. I also found Chris Reading's book Trace Your Genes to Health invaluable.

Living well with Asthma
This is a great book, very down to earth and practical. It is intended mostly for adults suffering from asthma, but I think it would also be good for family members to read and it gives information on living with childrenwith asthma too. The authors focus, not on the medical aspects of asthma,but on the day to day lives of asthma sufferers and how they can betterhandle problems in such areas as sex life, family relationships and work.The authors give concrete examples of specific problems and easy tounderstand solutions. They also give many case illustrations from theirwork with asthmatics. Most importantly, the book is easy and interesting toread. I was able to pick it up and read just the sections I most wanted toknow about without feeling lost. AMAZON FAILS TO COME THROUGH
I suffer from hyperventilation syndrome and had Amazon "search for an out of print copy". Months went byand no book. Eventually I gave up on Amazon after repeated e-mails. Finally, I ordered the book from Barnesand Noble.com and the book arrived with no problem.B&N seems to be abetter service. And yes, the book is very helpful!The book is not out ofprint as stated by Amazon, it just does not have the demand they require!

A very helpful, easy to understand book
This is a great book for people who unknowingly hyperventilate. It is written in easy to understand language.I use it with my patients in general (family) practice in New Zealand and find it by far the bestresource on hyperventilation.

A good common sense Asthma book
This book was unremarkable compared to the 10-12 others I have read regarding the subject of asthma. All are good, but all fall short in one respect: their recommendations (or lack of reccomendations) on natural treatments for Asthma. Most Asthma books don't recommend any holistic/herbal remedies; they only recommend pharmaceutical drugs. A few Asthma books like these do recommend natural remedies, but these remedies are often unproven, and can be dangerous if mixed with other drugs/alcohol. I am really disappointed in all Asthma books in general, because they most often do not recommend the three most important ORTHOMOLECULAR Asthma remedies: Calcium, Magnesium, and Vitamin C. Calcium is simply there to balance magnesium and to chelate with ascorbate (vitamin C) to make calcium ascorbate. Magnesium relaxes lungs and improves air flow. Last and certainly not least, vitamin C has potent antihistamine effects via inhibiton of mast cell degranulation, and also has bronchodilator effects via inhibition of phosphodiesterase. My dad wrote this and I read it i think its great its full of detail and intrestng tidbits even though this is adult lit i still loved it
A Poorly Written Account of a Fascinating & Deadly Disease
The author is so boring I literally fell asleep while reading the 3rd page of this book!! I thought it would be filled with interesting insights into this killer 21st century disease, but he spends way too much time blaming everyone on the planet but the SARS pathogen itself for the evolution of this plague. He writes with far too much intellectual bravado and machoism for my taste. There is very little substance in this book; the author may know something about science but his writing does not reflect this at all! ... Read more
