I found this book to be a valueable tool in helping me with my problem.It's a natural way to assist the libido, without having to get prescriptiondrugs.If the advice in this book is followed, I am certain there will bemany satisfied readers.

A lot of fluff around a single herb aimed only at men.
Despite the general sounding title, this book is focused primarily on problems with male libido.If you are experiencing difficulties with female libido, this book will be very frustrating to read, and of extremelylimited assistance.Read more

Positive Options for Living with Your Ostomy: Self-Help and Treatment
As someone who has struggled to adapt to a completely unexpected ileostomy for the past three and a half months, I found the information presented to be disappointingly simplistic and annoyingly naive. It is hard for me to believe that the author has ever worked closely with people trying to deal with the every day challengespresented by life with an ileostomy. He frequently comes across as patronizing and offers little real help to such persons. There is no way I could recommend this book to others who are trying to cope with the challenges I have experienced.

Back Trouble? Read this book!
Caplan's book is a user-friendly guide to good body use, including many illustrations and exercises which will help anyone who wishes to avoid back trouble. She covers all sorts of situations, including bone and joint ailments and post-surgery. Do yourself a favor and buy this book.

Vital reading

The Book That Saved My Deaf Son's Life
It was a long time ago...perhaps 15 years. My kid had been diagnosed as Deaf or "deaf" by the hearing community with a small "d." In those days, parents (especially a hearing parent like myself) had no options. Technology for "aided" hearing in all forms was the rage. ASL was not allowed even in the "deaf" school he attended. But my son could hear nothing even with powerful hearing aids. So, for me, a NJ criminal appellate attorney (for 20 yrs), I wanted facts-not-fluff. Dr. Lane's book in Hardcover was released in 1992. When I read the review in the NY Times Sunday Book Review section, I could not drive fast enough to get a copy. Holed up for a day, I read it front to back. And then I knew. No. My vocation was not going to be a criminal attorney, I needed to become an advocate or "the law firm" for one - my own kid. And we needed to move out of NJ so good-bye law practice and the money. Had it not been for this book, though, he would not be graduating to attend a great college next year. Please buy this book. Please do not let "them" tell you it is "radical." Go for it. I beg you....

Mostly negative tone, thought-provoking content.
I found this book to be engaging almost from the beginning; it is meticulously researched, well organized, logical, yet passionate in its defense of an oppressed language minority.One could certainly argue that Mr. Lane short-changes his opponents by not really addressing their arguments on the benefits of mainstreaming Deaf children, but the purpose of this book is not to present both sides of the issues; the purpose is to demonstrate the oppression of the Deaf language and therefore their culture.It provides strong evidence that the Deaf child is a minority, not an invalid, and that the tendency of hearing parents to see mainstreaming as the only option is a dangerous mistake.This is deep reading and scholarly writing, at times to the point of near inaccessibility to a mainstream audience.However, it is convincing and eye-opening if one is willing to put the effort into reading it. Harlan Lane shows how Deafness is a cultural affiliation and only through the hearing world's oppression does it become a disability.Very well-written and researched, Lane digs deep into the Deaf culture and history to bring us this excellent resource.I believe that anyone saying that this work is biased and obsolete holds biased and obsolete viewpoints themselves.Come into this with an open mind, and you will leave a better person.Highly recommended! ... Excellent guide to overcoming Hearing Loss fears!
This book covers so many topics in such an empathetical way -- extremely well written. This book will help you if you know you are losing your hearing and are downright scared/nervous about seeking help. Understanding the hearing loss is important. This is not just for the person who has suffered hearing lose and needs help, but also for the rest of the family who needs to support and help as well. This book really cannot go recommended enough!Some of the greatest scientists/audiologists that there is have come together to share in good basic English to help. Exceptional!!

Anyone diagnosed with AMD needs to read this book--it is full of great information to help ease your mind. Also, the author includes updates on the latest medical studies.

Practical advice and action items
Very good reading on background of the disease, thoughts on how to treat/prevent for family members (there is some genetic component) as well as sufferers of the condition themselves.

Striking Back as a team!!
"Striking Back at Stroke" by Cleo Hutton and Louis R Caplan, MD is an unusual book about stroke. Most publications cover either the stroke survivor's story or a medical explanation of stroke. The book combines the two. The first part of each chapter is from Hutton's diary. Through it we are able to learn the survivor's perspective. The second section is Dr Caplan's medical explanation. Both Inspiration and Facts!

Cleo Hutton suffered several stroke episodes. This is not an unusual story as worldwide stroke is a widespread cerebrovascular dysfunction. Pages from her diary are present in this book.The book itself must remain as milestone for health books written for broader audiences. The reason is simple: a patient testimony is commented by a specialized doctor. Every corner, every step of Cleo's struggle, revenge and recovery is commented by Lou Kaplan, a well known neurologist in an open and clear manner. Several details are there, including the understanding of the several exams made by Cleo. Physical and psychological human relations were affected after Cleo's stroke. Weeks were deleted from her life while she struggled for getting back what her body had taken away from her. This is indeed a recommended book for all, from doctors to (possible) future patients. Not merely another book from a stroke survivor, this book should be considered the story of a stroke that didn't survived the patient where it appeared.Read more

a doctor who is not afraid to step outside the box
OK, so hope sounds too pollyanna for "serious medical students and stiff doctors". I'll tell you about hope. It's deeper and more complex than all the so called "only we know what is good for you, you peon." attitudes put together. All I could think about while reading this book was thank God a doctor with deep compassion had the courage to write it. Here we have a doctor who is not afraid to step outside the box to spend years thinking about the single most important part of any illness, in particluar cancer: hope. I've learned a lot about hope. Granted at 20 years old it was probably the last thing I was thinking and probably thought I had all the knowledge I needed. Now at age 62, I have lived longer than expected, and am a living example of hope. I've lived over three years with lung cancer (the last two as stage IV). I found a doctor with great skill whom I admire for his medical knowledge as a great doctor who does in fact treat people everyday with traditional medicine, but every time I am in his presence I feel an energy of profound hope. You can call it whatever "pop" name you want, it just shows you are not really in the trenches. I survived because of my good doctor and because of hope. Near the end of my life, I learned the greatest, most important and enduring things in life are the most simple, yet somehow complex, with hope being at the very top of the list. I can tell by reading Dr Groopman's book that he is a compassionate human being and knows the true meaning of life, and of hope, and was drawn to it by the title: The Anatomy Of Hope. I wish there were more doctors like my doctor, and like Dr Groopman.

Meaningful and Honest
I found this book to be both meaningful and honest, and was glad to see that it avoided so many of the pitfalls of the 'Self Help, Will YOurself to Get Well' books.One of the big messages from Dr. Groopman is summed up in a note on p. 220: 'There is no perfect or single way to provide clinical information to all patients under all circumstances - there is no one size fits all approach...In general, I follow the patient's lead..."
Let Hope Live!!!
I was thrilled when I came across this book. I established a foundation with this name to do just that, keep hope live - called,"Let Hope Live!" My son had a brain tumor and what we faced was constant words of death and literally no possibility of hope anywhere. Aching and searching for hope and possibilities anywhere and everywhere. Everyone was negative.
