Just an ego trip...nowhere near useful for real MS'ers
This book should be approached with caution.If you can get past the "flaunt" of Dr. Pepe's fabulous life and the fact that she would dare to show off how much better she is doing in front of other MS sufferers, some that are in wheelchairs and probably wish they too could twirl on their high heels, then perhaps you should remember that this is one woman's opinion.Her advice will not cure you.It is unbelievable that someone would tout the old wives' tales (bee vemon and dental fillings) as part of a path to successfully overcoming the symptoms of MS.If there were any significance to either of these woudn't we know it?After all, people have been trying them for decades now.
Hope-Trust-Healing, Yes it's true.
Celeste has given humanity an incredible gift with the writing of this amazing book.This book is a wonderful, informative how-to, step-by-step plan for reversing Multiple Sclerosis.This she has done by her own painstaking research and knowledge as a Naturopath and Chiropractor and because she reversed this disease for HERSELF. If she weren't all the way across the country, I would rush to meet her and see her as a patient and give her a big hug. But even though I still plan to meet her someday, I am first following her program so when I feel better it will be that much more fun!

here's the only good I got from it:
Many Sound Ideas, But We Also Need a Word of Caution
As someone who has spent years helping people get control of their sleep/wake cycles, I'm always on the lookout for anything new that may help before we have to use prescription medications. There are a great many good ideas in this book, but also a couple of things about which we need to be careful.
A great guide to improve your sleep
Heller's book contains helpful tips for anyone who has trouble sleeping.I've suffered from insomnia for years and found her book extremely helpful.The book packs a lot of information into a quick, easy read.I especially liked the lists such as the ones on how to lessen the effects of jet lag or the 7 essential habits of highly successful sleepers.Read more

this book is very inspiring, it motivates the reader to be positive and get in touch with one's good self, and then share this goodness with everyone around.
Superb message and writing
The late Philip Simmons left the world a wonderful gift with this book. I pulled it off the shelf in a very low time and found it to be inspiring in many ways. Simmons was a creative writing teacher and it shows in this work, which is full of beautiful images as well as beautiful ideas.

Writers are like bears...
These short essays are gems of style and content.Phillip Simmons was not an existentialist railing against his suffering, but a Stoic/Buddhist personality that loved his family and loved to climb mountains.He died in 2002.

Anyone with Parkinslon's disease as well as their caretaker should appreciate this book.It is well-written and empathethic. Dr. Abe Liebberman hasanswered questions I have had about the baffling condition and it is unfortunate that we do not have more doctors with his knowledge and expertise in America today.

don't waste your $ if you expect title to be true!
as a recently diagnosed parkinson disease person, i have read and re-read everything i could get from pd foundations on symptons, treatments and what to expect with pd. the title of this book, "shaking up parkinson disease - fighting like a tiger, thinking like a fox" led me to believe that the famous dr.lieberman would be revealing actions and stragegies not previously printed on dealing with and CURING pd. the title is misleading...contents are almost word for word from his "100 questions & answers about parkinson disease," which i found well organized and quite useful. why were relatives of pd patients interviewed when there are approximately 1 1/2 million

Provides personal insights on a depersonalizing disease
Plenty of books cover the symptoms and early treatment of Alzheimer's, but here's the rest of the story: coping with its later stages. A CURIOUS KIND OF WIDOW: LOVING A MAN WITH ADVANCED ALZHEIMER'S takes up where her first book left off, telling of the progress of her husband's disease and how it changed her life and their marriage. From the escalating problems from a caretaker's viewpoint to personality charms despite increasing limitations, A CURIOUS KIND OF WIDOW provides personal insights on a depersonalizing disease.
Loving an ill husband
The author shares in a "A Curious Kind of Widow" her agonizing experience having to place her loved husband in an Alzheimer's Care Center. She is a curious widow because he is dead and alive at the same time. The whole family, even children and friends are affected and involved. She goes into great detail which at times brings tears and tightens my heart. But such is life happy and sad together.

Very helpful
I really enjoyed this book because it deals with the emotional and psychological effects of having a chronic illness.Sometimes when patients are diagnosed with autoimmune diseases they feel very frightened and alone...this book lets people know that others can totally empathize and relate to what they are experiencing.It gives advice on what to look for in a doctor (many are ignorant of autoimmune diseases!), and how to cope with people who just don't understand the debilitating impact of Sjogren's.I recommend this book in conjunction with the New Sjogren's Syndrome Handbook, which maps out the biomedical aspects of the disease. ... Elegant and Informative
This book is a gem of simplicity and usefulness. It integrates anatomy, myofascial techniques, holistic thinking and traditional Chinese medicine meridien theory and also provides simple stretching and strengthening exercises to help patients move from pain to recovery. It's beautifully designed and illustrated; I especially love the calligraphic drawings of the exercises. As a massage therapist, I can say that it is now one of my favorite reference books.

This is a great book if you are trying to figure out referred pain patterns or ways for your client to help themselves at home. Good book to have on hand.

Better Books out there
If you have been dealing with migraines/headaches for some time, this book offers nothing new.Also, if you don't want to get trapped on the strong drug regimen you'll learn no alternative methods here.Obviously, Dr. Peterson is in the camp of pushing drugs by large pharmacutical corporations.

The authors go on to explain what oxidative phosphorylation is, but still, you have to really care about that noggin of yours to keep reading until you get to the good stuff: the foods and nutritional supplements that make your brain work better. Once you get past the exotic roster of amino acids, antioxidants, and other substances that may improve or maintain brain function--(s-adenosyl methionine, tocotrienols, n-acetyl-cysteine, among others)--the bulk of the book focuses on specific problems (Alzheimer's, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression) and ways to deal with them nutritionally. ... Good book / bad doctor?You decide.
Last year I began to exhibit symptoms, trembling right hand, body stiffness, that seemed vaguely consistant with Parkinsons Disease.I read this book and was pleased with the open-mindedness of Dr. Lombard and his use of wholistic treatments of severe neurological / brain conditions. I made an appointment to see him in his office.After a brief interview he performed some mobility / muscle tests on me and boldly pronounced that I had Parkinsons Disease.Dr Lombard gave me a prescription medication to begin my treatment and I went home in a state of shock.My girlfriend, who had accompanied me to the appointment was in tears.I tried not to let anyone know of the diagnosis but before long I was receiving messages of profound condolences from friends and co-workers.Read more

Disappointing
My husband is trying to eliminate tyramines and other migraine triggers. I was hoping to find a cookbook that would help us create meals that tasted good, were healthy and safe.
A great book for headache sufferers
I had headaches almost daily for about 30 years and FINALLY did something about it.Between this book and the "1-2-3 Program" book, I've eliminated about 98% of my headaches - headaches I thought were incurable.
Disappointed with the content
There are some really good recipes in the book but I was disappointed that so many recipes contain foods believed to be migraine triggers in them. If you are trying to restrict your diet completely from migraine triggers, most of the recipes will not meet your needs without many modifications. ... Read more

believing your doctor can cause life-threatening injury, not believing your doctor may avert certain death
Tom Warren's doctors told him to go home and to prepare to die of Alzheimer's illness.Luckily Warren had the moxie to defy them, to educate himself about likely causes of Alzheimer's, (in his case a heavy metal intoxication), and to find a doctor willing to believe him.He recovered, and the Witnesses of Aesculapius with whom he had been dealing, were so caught up in their dogmas that they were unable to fathom his recovery; one even accused him of forging an MRI scan.
Tom Warren had a brain that burned
I first read Tom Warren's book BEATING ALZHEIMER'S in my bioloical dentist's office where I went to have mercury safely removed from my teeth. My regular dentist had poisoned me after drilling into a "silver" mercury filling and allowing me to breathe the mercury vapor. The thing that caught my attention with this book was Tom Warren said his brain burned. My brain also burned after being exposed to the mercury vapor. When I did a heavy metals test with an ACAM doctor, high levels of aluminum also showed up. So I thinkthere is a connection between high levels of mercury and aluminum in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. I also initially lost my memory after exposure to mercury. Patient-driven Medicine
