Effective and affordable
This is the most relevant approach to controlling herpes that I have found.Anyone can follow her program.Ms Picozzi reviews how to bolster the immune system through diet, stress management, exercise.The overall result is a healthier body and immune system. After a number of years of searching for a resource that is concise, useable and effective, this book is well worth the money.Thank you Michele!

Helpful and thorough source for alternative therapies
This book lives up to its title of taking a "holistic approach" as it promotes a dozen or more alternative therapies to prevent and heal outbreaks. Help at last!

Good overview on GSE
This book is a good overview on grapefruit seed extract. It is especially helpful if you are looking for information on candida and GSE.

Once comprehensive but now outdated
The most recent edition of this book is now nearly 10 years old.In the medical field, that is a huge amount of time.I bought this book based on the positive reviews posted on Amazon, but ended up more confused after reading it.This book focuses primarily on the medical facts about herpes (if you want a book to help you deal with the emotional issues, this is NOT the book for you), but much of what is discussed is outdated.For instance, the book discusses that not much is known about asymptomatic shedding, but that there probably isn't much risk of infecting a partner unless visible sores are present -- science now knows that this isn't the case (in fact about 70% of people got herpes when their partners had no visible symptoms).The anti-virals such as Valtrex were just coming on the market around the time this book was published and effectiveness of these drugs wasn't well known at that point.A few days of research online will educate you far better than this book will about treatment and reducing the risk of transmission.
If its from a horse, its still herpes.
If you get herpes from a horse, it can still be given to your girlfriend, and or, hooker friends.This book talks about horse herpes, and man herpes, and I have both.Thanks amazon.com!

Covered most of my questions
I think the book was well written and I liked the author's writing style. Its a little outdated though. I would like to see an updated edition with more data on the newer anti herpes drugs such as Valtrex. Its been 5 years, so its time to get some newer information out there. ... Read more

Herpes A Nutritional Approach gives a good but short overview of the subject. In just 31 pages the reader receives a lot of summarized information. The reader looking for facts and definitions should besatisfied. However, the reader looking for more in-depth information wouldprobably not be satisfied with this book alone. This book is awful.The name should be called should be called "Sugar Coating the Bitter Pill of Herpes" or "Herpes; Your Sex Life Does Not Have to Change at All"If you have herpes one should not have unprotected sex outside of marriage.This book does not endorse this practice.I realy don't understand how the so called M.D.'s that wrote this book can live with the fact that every other page of this book does not say "If you have herpes do not have unprotected sex!!!!". The woman who gave me herpes said there were risks but I did not have to wear a condom.This book is filled with similar propoganda. Her excusses must have come straight out of this book."..it can be recesive for along time, you may have already had it..", "..at least I told you, and I was not maliscious..".If you care about not spreading herpes, this is book is not to be read. ... A colleague's perspective
This book is accurate, easy to read, and written by a very well respected HSV researcher. It is slightly varied from most herpes books because is told from the perspective of a pediatrician. The size makes it approachable and easy to read in a short time, too.

Everything you need to know in easy terms
I found this book to be a very good source of information.The terms were explained well and completely.I especially enjoyed the chapters that fully described herpes and it's transmission.Also, the chapter covering home remedies was very useful for what actually works and what is a waste of money.Because the author is a doctor, the book was scientific and complete with it's facts and vaccine information.I loved this book.

* In general, this book helped me and my partner to understand the basic clinical facts and some lesser known clinical information about herpes, transmission, symptoms, treatment, etc. * Re: transmission:The author offers perspectives which surprisingly contradict some commonly held ideasabout what is "safe" and "not safe", which makes thisbook particularly useful, if not a bit scarey. * Re: legal issues:Thesection on disease transmission and the ethics of disclosure is also welldone and important.The author cites a case where someone who was lied toabout a partner's STD status was awarded $600,000 in damages for pain andsuffering, given the lifetime effects of herpes transmitted without honestdisclosure. * Re: approach and tone:The book's appeal would have beenincreased with a more personal tone, with the author's voice addressed tous folks out here grappling with these difficult issues, and often at riskfrom partial knowledge and word-of-mouth guidelines.As it is the book israther dispassionate, as if the busy physician author had transcribed aseries of medical school lectures. * Re: also needed:Colored photographsof what typical outbreaks look like would have been very useful, as anaddition to his useful black & white line drawings of virustransmission details.A good bit more could also have been provided aboutdetails of "safer sex" and relationship issues since we most needthat out here in the real world. * Re: bottom line:As a clinical medicalfact source it is an excellent and useful book. ...
