Wonderful and helpful book

A gentle way to explore the topic of losing a pet
My three year old and I read this book almost daily.She loves the illustrations and after we read the story we have discussions about our pet, who is the "queen" inour family.This book provides agentle approach to the often dismissed subject of death, which we must allface one day.This story has been helpful for me to explore this importanttopic with my daughter.

A touching story for young children.
Barn Kitty offers a wonderful, tender way to help children cope with the death of a pet. Having read this story to a group of young students, I found many of them had lost beloved pets. A lively discussion ensued afterreading the book.The artwork is very warm and colorful. The childrenwere very touched by Barn Kitty.

Very warm and appealing story for young children
This is a developmentally appropriate story for young children.My second grade class found Barn Kitty a very appealing character, both visually and as her personality developed throughout the story.The accepting natureand love of the other animals made for a very comforting atmosphere. Thechildren loved the humor of Barn Kitty as "Mistress of the Barn".The crown on the letter "i" on the title page was noticed andenjoyed immediately.The children were fascinated that this was a true storyand gently surprised by the ending.It led to a discussion of pets thatthey had loved. One word: Captivating
The Jaws of Death was an amazing book.For all the techincal information on the animal's biology, I found it to be an easy read.Although, I'm probably bias, because I've always found sharks to be interesting. Great book
Maniguet covers just about every aspect of sharks, and from a perspective of human contact. One long chapter covers shark attacks on humans, while the rest of the book covers anatomy, behaviour, and human interface, with some attacks interspersed. The book is technical in parts, but not too much so. I was looking for a factual book on sharks and shark attacks, not sensational but not boring, and this was perfect.

A Must Read
This book is one of the best I've been able to find on sharks, and I could not put it down! I must have read it over three times already just to remember all the information it contains!Read more

excellent evidence of post-mortal existence of animals

added to my guilt
Left me feeling more depressed. I stayed with my dog during euthanasia, but was very very sad and crying.Author indicated crying made it harder for my dog.Belle was my best friend, and I needed to be with her, as well as her needing me.But to indicate weakness, because of strong emotion is not sensitive.Also includes stories of cruel pet owners who considered, or did have dogs killed because of behavior, minor illness etc...I was looking to cope with my pain not feel additional sadness.If you are not opposed to a religious book, read "Cold Noses At The Pearly Gates"very comforting. ...
