5-0 out of 5 stars Alleluia!!!!!!!
Thank you Dr. Derry, as both a thyroid patient and cancer "survivor" I can totally relate to everything in Dr. Derry's theories regarding breast cancer/iodine/thyroid.From my own experience I can finally feel validation for my own thoughts/experiences.In these days when there is what I call a *"Mardi Gras" approach to breast cancer, this somewhat obvious theory should be put out there for further study and discussion!I LOVED the book and it is a quick and easy read.4-0 out of 5 stars Ground breaking information
Now I understand why Dr Derry had me on Iodine. After reading this book I always remember to take my Iodine.I now have my husband, kids and grandchildren on it.I believe his book will inspire more research that will help humanity as a whole.

5-0 out of 5 stars She's living proof that it works
I find this book fascinating, because it presents evidence that a safe, inexpensive, non-invasive, and relatively simple medical protocol can support the body's immune system in both reversing breast cancer in its early stages, and in preventing the spread of a developing cancer. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It worked for me!
It is now 10 days since my second surgery for thyroid cancer.I diligently practiced Dr. Rossman's techniques in the weeks leading up to my second surgery and in the days since using the guided imageries on the companion CD (available separately). The difference between my second surgery and my first (a very similar procedure that I white-knuckled my way through) were astounding. These differences included (second vs. first): no post-surgery nausea, greatly reduced pain after surgery, less of a decrease in mobility in my neck region and I am much more relaxed.I attribute these benefits in large part to Dr. Rossman's techniques.5-0 out of 5 stars winning tool in the fight against cancer
Last year this reviewer would never have read a book like FIGHTING CANCER FROM WITHIN: HOW TO USE THE POWER OF YOUR MIND FOR HEALING for it is clearly intended to help a specific group. However, my beautiful neighbor Chuck came down with a deadly form of cancer, but as his health deteriorated his will to live and his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren, and his conviction in God left me in awe of a great person. No miracle occurred as Chuck ultimately passed away, but he fought to live until the end and probably gained an extra month to hug his family and friends. With his memory etched in my brain, this reviewer read Dr. Martin L. Rossman's guidebook with a more open mind than the cynic I was would have read it last year, that is if I even tried.5-0 out of 5 stars A remarkable contribution
Dr. Rossman's book, Fighting Cancer from Within, is a remarkable and important contribution to the field of oncology. His practical approach translates the idea of comprehensive healing of mind, body and spirit into a realistic guide for the newly diagnosed cancer patient.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Book Review
Several times in the course of completing a 4 year degree in Phyto Medicine I came across the work of Donnie Yance. He is well known for his work in treating cancer with Herbal Medicine. This book provides an excellent insight into his experienced approach and use of Herbal Medicine as an adjuvant to "conventional" treatment. Clearly influenced by the great American physicomedicalist, Eli G. Jones (who treated many cancer patients in the early 20th century - when Herbal Medicine was the conventional medicine), he brings the historical evidence base & treatment approaches up to date and expands upon them in the light of modern scientific research.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Information
My husband and I have started the process of natural medicine in curing cancer over the past months. This book was a great asset to use in learning about how to do so and why it is important to do so.We continue to learn from it and highly recommend it to anyone using natural methods to heal themselves of cancer!

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost
A cooperative working relationship between "allopathic" physicians and "naturalists" is long overdue in my opinion, and my opinion ought to be worth something.I am a physician with 25 years experience in cancer medicine and I have board certifications in internal medicine, medical oncology, hematology, and radiation oncology.Mr. Yance's book is a step in the right direction, and I feel it is a worthwhile reference for any physician who is interested in the nutritional welfare of his patients. The book is far from perfect, however. For example, Mr. Yance overstates the risk of carcinogenesis from therapeutic radiation, presents site-specific side effects such as dry mouth as if they were general effects of radiation, underplays the value and effectiveness of radiation for common adult tumors such as breast cancer, and claims benefit for herbal or nutritional remedies for side effects of cancer treatment even when they have been shown to be ineffective in clinical trials.Administration of vitamin B12 and folate to prevent chemotherapy-induced neuropathy is the most egregious example. At the same time, glutamine is not mentioned for prevention of neuropathy though it is known to be useful, at least for prevention of nerve injury from vinca alkaloids.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A helpful book,Prostate a guide for men, Fred Felkins husband of Joan Felkins
This book was refered to me when I was told that I told that I had Prostate cancer by a doctor. The doctor informed me that most men do not understand what the prostate does and how it operates.I read the book and achieved a better understanding of what I was facing. My wife did not read the entire book but did read certain parts and used this to support me in this time. I would recommend that every man over 50 beg, borrow or buy this book, read it, study it and visit with their doctor and get a yearly check up.I am a five year survial of Prostate cancer and every 6 months when the doctor tells me that it is still in remission I rejoice.

4-0 out of 5 stars A guide for men and the women who love them
This book provided the practical every day treatment information that I needed regarding my recently diagnosed prostrate cancer.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Authoritative Book On Prostate Cancer
Amid all of the rumors and horror stories one confronts after being diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, this guide was conforting to both my wife and me. Doctor Walsh and Ms. Worthington are to be commended for preparing a text that a layman can understand and at the same time put to rest the fears stimulated by the horror stories a cancer victim encounters. Especially impressive were the illustrations by Leon Schlossberg. As one who underwent the radical nerve sparing surgery, developed by Dr. Walsh, I knew exactly what would happen and what to expect. I purchase copies of the book and pass it on to men I know who have been diagnosed. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A book of hope
This is volume 1 of a two-volume set.Buy them both.Just like the second volume, it is an essential "navigation" guide for patients with one of the deadliest cancers. The book is logically organized, gives all the necessary information and almost nothing is missing.I am brain cancer patient and I recommend this book. This book and a book by Ben Williams, Surviving "Terminal" Cancer should be on the bookshelf of every GBM patient. This book gave me hope and the strength to endure.Mine arrived with Dr. Zeltzer's dedication, "Knowledge is power".How true!

5-0 out of 5 stars Brain Tumors - a complex diagnoses made simple
This is a good book for anyone who needs to understand the complexity and diagnosis of a brain tumor. It will give you the facts to help you or a family member make intelligent decisions when faced with this medical diagnosis. My identical twin brother was diagnosed with a rapid growing tumor that was affecting his vision. We are both software engineers not doctors. We need facts with absolutes. Not probabilities. He was admitted to the University of New Mexico Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery. His wife and 1 year old daughter were at his side waiting for the operation. I found this book at the medical school bookstore. I thumbed through it and could not put it down. The book carefully explained in detail exactly what the medical staff was saying. It was not a solution for the emotions we were going through but at least I understood the complexity of the brain and impact of tumors. He had two major operations, including a craniotomy. Thankfully, he pulled through. That was a year ago. He will be on medicine from the tumor operation for the rest of his life. But he is alive. There are other books I might suggest for the emotional impact on a family, but this review is just for the understanding of the medical diagnosis. If you or a family member has been diagnosed with a brain tumor I suggest this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely essential
If you or a loved one are newly diagnosed with a brain tumor, this is the book you must read immediately and use as a reference throughout the process of dealing with the disease.I wish that it had been available when our daughter was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme early last year. With a disease of this complexity, you and your family will ultimately be responsible for coordinating treatment options, anticipating and managing side effects of medications, etc.To be an effective advocate you need to learn as much as you can as quickly as you can, and this book is the place to start. The medical care that our daughter has received has been uniformly excellent, but a vigilent and informed caregiving team is a vital component in managing her disease.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not great.....
Death Be Not Proud by John Gunther Senior is the story of his son's struggle with a brain tumor. It is actually quite interesting and the writing is good. I rate this book low because it is hard to spympathize with Johnny. His father, the author, is terribly biased and makes Johnny sound like a god among grasshoppers. It almost makes me, being a 15 year old, feel inferior. We never really see the Johnny actually being a kid. Sure we read that he plays games and has friends, but these details are minimal and minor. All we ever read ia about Johnny's Intelligence and Bravery, but never the fear he had over the tumor or how hard it was for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Though some have called thee Might and Dreadful; thou art not so
The quote in the title for this review is given to me by John Donne, who wrote the poem of same name. It starts this memoir, and another poem ends it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the Newly Informed Cancer Patient, BUT CAUTION!
I freaked out when I was told by my urologist, just a few months ago, that my biopsy showed prostate cancer and---by the way---would I like to be put on his surgery schedule for next month! This is a fabulous book and one I throughly recommend for the newly diagnosed man who is reeling from the shock of getting this rotten news and not sure what to do.HOWEVER, the book is written by an American surgeon and that means a heavy bias toward treatment for everyone (even low risk cancers) and preferably surgery. It turned out, in my case, that the cancer is less aggressive than my urologist was leading me to believe (get that second opinion!).Monitoring the cancer for changes is a defensible strategy for avoiding the awful side effects of ANY of the treatments for prostate cancer, if your cancer is at a low to medium risk. All that said, this is still a great book and covers most all the bases.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Informative Primer on Prostate Cancer
My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1999.He has had two cryo ablation procedures and yet still has the cancer (confined to the prostate).Having worked for a well-known urologist for many years, I feel Dr. Lange's book is the best literature we have read over the years and has helped answer the many questions we have had in language my husband can understand. Our urologist, however, spends a great deal of time with us explaining everything.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you (or your partner) needs to know
This book covers prostate cancer from the prospective of a surgeon who treats the disease and who admits that he was terrified when he was diagnosed with it himself. Prostate Cancer for Dummies covers symptoms of prostate cancer and how it's treated (surgery, radiation, etc.) and also covers how to cope with the side effects, such as impotence, depression and so on. The author factors in how cancer affects the whole family and discusses how the person with cancer can help his family help him. The newest studies on cutting edge treatments, foods to eat, how to prevent cancer from coming back and everything you might want to know about prostate cancer is in this book. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Reader beware #2
My mother and father read this book and it enflamed them against the doctors who were trying to convince my mother that she needed to do something about her Stage II breast cancer. She was scared to death by what she read.Perhaps literally. While she was scared, her cancer progressed to Stage IIIC.We're not sure she's going to make it.She received three opinions regarding recommended treatment from some of the best hospitals/doctors in the U.S.Then the cancer spread to her breast bone area. She is finally following doctors orders, including chemo, and her tumors are shrinking. We pray it is not too late.I'm sure this book has some useful information, but my mother only showed me the scary bits--the things that made her wait.Too long?Who knows.Beware.

4-0 out of 5 stars BOO!
This book will scare the bejesus out of ya, so make sure you're ready for the in-your-face reality this book offers. Are you ready to read about everything contributing to breast cancer from pesticides to plastic bottles? We're talking bug spray, plastic water bottles, beef, cow's milk + milk products, nail polish, polish remover, furniture, hair dryers, computers, and on and on.I was afraid to eat or touch anything for days! But the premise of this book isn't to scare but to educate you.

5-0 out of 5 stars The other side of awareness ...
I do think that the awareness of preventative screening and making women conscious of their health is a positive testament to many runs and galas dedicated to a cure for breast cancer. Treatment options are still evolving but overall, the pink ribbon phenomenon has created the awareness of the disease like never before. What this book does examine is what happens beyond the gala fundraisers ... how does the money raised translate into actual cure outcomes? This is similar to the commens made when AIDS fundraising crossed into a showbiz opportunity. However, despite the pinkwash of breast cancer awareness month ... one thing really seems to be clear ... the condition is top of mind, women are more likely to mind their health, and more money is raised than before towards treatment. Like the saying ... all roads lead eventually lead to Rome .... all efforts eventually lead to a cure in some way, shape, or form. Nothing is ever wasted especially when the intent of many individual fundraisers really is true and comes from the heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must-have reference
I just got back from the course taught by Dr. Tabar and it was phenomenal! If you can't attend his course, then you must have this book.It covers all the material in the course in a clear and concise manner using almost 1600 images. This would also be a great reference for pathologists and surgeons who perform breast surgery, and techs interested in why they do what they do would find this text a great resource.I will use it as an adjunct learning tool after attending the seminar - I would recommend that buyers of this text do the same.Find the time to go to the seminar and then get the book - and good luck in your practice!

5-0 out of 5 stars A fantastic unique book
This book is really fantastic.

5-0 out of 5 stars very helpful
With this book as a recent purchase I would have to say its one of the best. I diagnosed with LE in the right leg 6 months ago have been trying to find all kinds of info on it to help me understand it more. Also it has helped my family understand what I and the rest of us have to endure. It still makes me mad that we live in a time where Doctors are either not willing to diagnose our conditios correctly or they have no clue about the condition. ... Read more
