5-0 out of 5 stars A good read.
All in all, this book is about commitment phob men. It talks about how a man reacts to certain stumili women put out and then make their decisions. I found it to be a real eye-opening read given the subject matter is one that facinates most women. Perhpas you're unsure about men in this regard, so, this book can help. I also have found a few other good books on this site about this subject I liked, too. One is "Man Magnet" and another is this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful read with great wisdom
Loved this book Women Men Love, Women Men Leave : What Makes Men Want to Commit? not because I am looking to snag a man, but because as a widow after thirty eight years with my best friend I wanted to hear from a man what men think and why these days.It is a very informative read and one I would like to see more women read.Even married women whose marriages seem headed for rough waters. There are no games, just direct wisdom for women willing to be quiet and listen and learn.
5-0 out of 5 stars Clear, Mature and Precise
Great book, it is a professional and human view about love and relationships. A book that every woman, in search of a mature and long lasting relationship, has to read. Clear, honest and precise. Reading this book is a pretty good start in the goal of changing our wrong ideas about men, sex and real commitment. We can understand why and how, women can ruin a good relationship. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great advice for women AND men...
This is a picture book of 'before' and 'after' pictures of slightly better-than average looking, over-weight middle aged persons.Very useful in helping the man in your life see what could look great for him. Will motivate you to clean out those closets of all the old stuff and whip out the charge cards. Can't say that I agree with all the advice though.Do we really want to look at bunioned boomer feet wearing thongs? Mathieson seems to just hate pinks, yellows, etc, without giving a list of "right" colors.Overall, though, will make you believe that you can still look good even with a few wrinkles and those extra pounds!

5-0 out of 5 stars Growing Older Does Not Mean You Have to Give Up Style
Ms Mathieson does a wonderful job of showing us how to be stylish with sophistication. We all like to look good with some current style, but all the magazines have models in their teens and 20's.Also size 0 and maybe a 2. Ms Mathieson shows us how we can incorporate that look into something a little more age appropriate.I also liked the idea that she showed us how to dress to compliment different body styles. This book also addressed men's fashion which is rarely covered. I am sharing this book with all my friends!

5-0 out of 5 stars Required Reading For Everyone Over 35
What a gem this book is! I have attended the author's bookstore presentation, plus I bought 5 books (2 of which went to male executive friends wanting to improve their professional image). When I did a major closet cleanout this summer, I followed Sherrie Mathieson's pointers in the book and found myself with a dramatically improved wardrobe. I'm now wearing colors and styles I had never tried before, and friends have definitely noticed. Even my choices of jewelry and shoes have changed. Just the 10-page section of shopping resources is worth the modest price of Forever Cool. If this book had been written years ago, I would have saved a lot of money from wrong clothing purchases. Expect to read through it more than once, because it's packed with important details you might miss during a casual glance. (Note to the person who complained about eyeglasses: go back and read the book more thoroughly and you'll find that Ms. Mathieson encourages us to wear more contemporary glasses styles, not dowdy-looking specs that age people.) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars NOW BLACK WOMEN CAN HAVE LONG HAIR TOO!
I was online typing keywords into Google, and one of the keywords I typed was Growth, Black, Hair. I figured at least the Internet would have some type of information on the subject. Lo and behold it was a number of sites about growing black hair. My hair is 12 inches long (which is a meduim length, happy about that) and is relaxed. But I have broken hair at the edges and the back, for the most part my hair is thick and healthy (genetics), but it has never grown past shoulder length and I wanted to change that. I too want long flowing hair to the middle of my back like white women, Asian women, Spanish women and any other culture besides African-American women. I stumbled upon Cathy's site and fell in love with it. It was so informative on the care of our hair. I said she must not be a crock because she was giving extensive information and hair care tips on her site for free without having to purchase her book. I could of simply took the tips and kept going without spending a dime. But I dediced to buy the book and the products that same day! My order came to around $50.00 for the three hair care products plus the book but it was the best $50 I ever spent. We as black women spend $150 on braids and weaves to get a temporary look of having long hair but as we all find out, it is only temporary. After three weeks it's time to retouch up that weave and those micro-braids (another $50-$60). Doing this can cause us to spend about $200 monthly just on our hair! Do you know what we can buy with $200 extra a month? That new pocketbook or shoes or take our kids on a mini-trip. Anything other than making somebody else rich off of our hard earned money. Listen, buy the book, purchase the products and be patient enough to grow your own hair. Yes it takes time but think about it would you rather waste $2400.00 a year on fake hair that doesn't last or would you rather spend $300 on your own real hair. Think about it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource for Black & Multi-ethnic Hair Care!
Finally a book that addresses the real concerns of black and multi-ethnic hair care whether chemically treated or natural. This is a book for those of us who went through (or are going through) life letting someone else tell us what to do with our hair and ending up with mediocre to disasterours results.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best book to grow Black Hair!!!
When I got Kathy's book I read it cover to cover that day and it was very informative! I have followed her guidelines on how to grow hair and have successfully grown my hair. The products that she has is the best! It leaves my hair soft and I can definately feel the difference when using other products when I'm out of Kathy's products. I will always use her products because they are TERRIFIC!! She really gives you the low down on cutting split ends and the truth about grease YUCK! Moisturize hair everyday because our hair is so dry and needs it ...hint hint! Buy the book best money you'll ever spend!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars well written but not realistic
Ok, so this book took me by surprise, I expected it to be garbage but it's actually well-written (with exception to the "street language") and full of good no-nonsense advice.I was particularly impressed with the chapters on confidence, handling money, and relationships.BUT, Kimora lives in a totally different world with a LOT of money and it is easy to be fabulous when you have tons of $.This is not realistic for those of us who work 9-5 jobs to support our families and do not have the luxury of a housekeeper, nanny, cook, gardener, driver, etc etc. Case in point:I work a part-time job on the weekend so that I can be home with my children during the week. This past week both my kids were sick, and I was dealing with runny noses, fevers, vomit, and crankiness. Now I have to get ready to work 2 double shifts. When is there time to be fabulous??Perhaps she should write a book on Fabulosity:The abbreviated version for working mothers.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book!!!!! Within 5 minutes of reading it, I already felt empowered!!! Kimora Lee Simmons keeps it real with everyone no matter who you are. This book taught me how to be FABULOUS!!! It is well written and is a GREAT book for any woman. I LOVE KIMORA LEE SIMMONS!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Woman Has It Going On
I purchased the book with GREATTTT Expectations, I was notdisappointed at all, This book was worth every dollar I spent And it was worth my quiet weak-endhome alone reading.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was all set to fall in love with Finding Our Way: Leadership in Uncertain Times by Margaret Wheatley. A friend had recommended Wheatley, and I have spent the last several years researching the interplay between systems thinking, connectionism, quality, leadership and learning. I've been reading Deming, Keynes, Bateson, Prigogine and Karl Polanyi. I had just come out of a three week period of intensive training, leading and facilitating a group of software users in gathering user requirements and system modeling. The book was brand new and available at the library.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good!
This book is very impressive because of the writer's attitude towords the world. Good for everybody who read this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Alarmingly Inspirational
You know those times when you meet someone for the first time yet the experience is like you have known them all your life. This book was like that for me.Much of what I read felt like reacquainting myself with what I already new, but had forgotten, like some life-long fog of amnesia slowly clearing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Color Me Beautiful
This is a great book. I gave away my first copy and puchased this one to replace it. I have also given this book as a gift.It is easy to read and a great tool for looking your best. The colors you wear make a big difference in the way you look. I have even purchased the color swatches from Ms Jackson's website and take them with me when I go shopping.

4-0 out of 5 stars Still works after all these years
I had my colors analyzed at summer camp, way back in the 1980's, using this book.Almost twenty years later, I still have the color swatches, and still rely on them for choosing what shades to wear.
2-0 out of 5 stars Terribly outdated, and confusing formany women.
Any woman of any haircolor and ethnicity can be any one of the four seasons. Skin tone determines your season more than anything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars An informed and informative addition
Enhanced with the inclusion of 14 color photographs, 2 color maps, 36 black/white photographs, and 13 line drawn illustrations, "Skin: A Natural History" by Nina G. Jablonski (Head of the Department of Anthropology at The California Academy of Sciences) is a thoroughly "reader friendly" and scholarly introduction to the biological and cultural functions of human skin. "Skin" addresses such questions and issues as how and when human skin came to look, fell, and function as we know it today; why we turn pale when anxious but red when we are embarrassed or angry; why touch is one of the fundamentally important senses of the body and relates to every aspect of human life; what is the real purpose of fingerprints; skin as a canvas for self-expression; the effects of aging, environmental stress, insect bites, burns, and diseases upon skin; advancing medical technologies relevant to skin issues, and so much more. Surveying more than 300-million-years of evolutionary development as it relates to the skin of homo sapiens, "Skin" addresses the critical role skin plays in human health (including processing sunlight for Vitamin D), the role of melanin in protecting us from the sun's rays, and the advances toward to the creation of artificial skin, gene therapies, reversing the aging process of skin, and other fascinating issues related to our skin. "Skin: A Natural History" is an informed and informative addition to medical school, academic library, and Anthropological Studies collections, as well as a very highly recommended study for non-specialist general readers with an interest in the biology and sociology of skin issues. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but...
On one hand, this book was a complete breath of fresh air--10 real women, some plus-size, some too skinny, some boyish, some too bosomy, were the models throughout the book.Hooray!Real women in a fashion book.I loved it already. But then as I continued through, I realized that the author's attitude was turning me off completely."I know your plight" she says, "you don't have a full length mirror anywhere in your house and that's the reason you don't care what your shoes look like with your outfit."??? We have 2 full length mirrors.I don't know any girl who doesn't. "I know you hate your body parts....but I will show you how to create a silhouette that plays up what you want to show off."I do not 'hate' any of my body parts--I have big boobs, most shirts are not cut for that, but I do not hate them.I wanted a fresh perspective on pulling outfits together for someone with my particular body type, I don't normally wear tents or anything, which seems to be the author's perspective.Another thing was the small comments here and there, such as, after the complete omission of shorts, she says in the concluding chapter "I pray shorts are not in your closet at all."What about the summer months when it's 90 degrees and you're outside all day and skirts are not really going to work because you're chasing children around and would not want to give all the neighbors a show? Practicality has to come in somewhere. Also, some (several) of the "after" pictures that she showed still did not look very put-together to me.All in all, while her aim was admirable, her attempt to speak to "the average person" came off as somewhat condescending, and her fashion "help" was not very helpful.I much preferred "The Lucky Shopping Manual."

5-0 out of 5 stars Best gift ever!!!!
I received this book as a gift from my sister before begining a mini shopping spree and found it incredibily useful.I learned how to look for clothes that compliment my unique figure. I love Ms. Neill's inspirational angle, "Everything in your closet should make you feel fabulous..." and she gives easy, practiacl tips on how to accomplish that very vision.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great voice!
Reading through Emily Neill's book was an extremely inspirational experience. I wanted to go through my closet immediately and start reorganizing and I am pleased to say that I got rid of the one cashmere sweater set that I kept around out of guilt and no longer clung to those black turtle necks that swallowed me up. No use keeping things out of guilt! Out with the shapeless.Emily Neill offered some great advice for all shapes and sizes of women and provided a clear and empowering voice for women to enhance the best and detract attention from the troubled spots. Loved her voice-- straightforward, honest and smart.Thank you!!!! My only request next time is to include the flat chested post two baby body!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars They Work!
These exercises work. No question about it - they really work. I'm 40 and was starting to notice the old age droop in my cheek and eye muscles as well as the characteristic bulge from untoned tongue muscles. Within one week of doing these exercises I noticed significant improvement. The cheek droop line is tightening up and receding. The muscles of my eyes and forehead have tightened up and lifted again. What's more, unlike with Carol Maggio's book, these exercises gave me a way to do these exercises without creating new wrinkles - a big reason why I stopped the exercises from Maggio's book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, usable instructions!
In this book I found what I was looking for. It has excellent pictures, clear instructions, explanation of how our face ages, specific exercises for the different areas of the face, and the goal of each exercise. I especially like using my "will" to get my face muscles to move. Although I don't do the exercises consistently every day, I see progress anyway. I was able to tighten my cheek muscles so that my cheek dimple, which had sort of slid down toward my jaw, is now higher on my face. Cute! There are some exercises that I can do at my desk at work, which I like. Great book for those who want to know WHY the exercise works.

3-0 out of 5 stars Face Exercises that prevent premature Aging

I bought this book hopeing to get into shape for my wedding, I find it dificult to follow. Yes she does map out a plan but you have to filp back and forth and practilly memorize the book before you go to the gym to get the moves down!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great even for those whose wedding is years away
I actually didn't buy this book because I am getting married anytime soon - since I am not - but because I had heard that it is one of the most comprehensive exercise books out. From the ones that I have encountered, I have to agree. It combines easy to understand (not always so easy to do - at least the first time) routines with tips on how to get yourself motivated. And the charts that come with it are a great tool to get anyone started on a comprehensive fitness program, whether you have a year or just a few months.

5-0 out of 5 stars I WENT FROM LAZY TO ATHLETE!!!
If i could wrap up Tamara and her program and take them home I would! I went from being totally unmotivated to get my butt off the couch to exercising daily. i totally toned up and can now wear the clothing i want to. I feel fantastic. i have tons of energy, my confidence is soaring and i know i will be a beautiful bride. I changed my dress to something i really wanted - strapless - now that i have sexy arms. We just booked our honeymoon vacation and I can't wait to get on that bikini and hit the beach. Ladies, I highly recommend this book. The exercise routines are easy to follow, the nutritional section is tasty and the motivation keeps you going. Thanks Bootcamp360!!!!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not really a "style" book
This book is good for explaining which shapes of clothes look good on which figures, how clothes should fit, and how to tie a scarf. While that is helpful, I was expecting to learn some "secrets of style" as the title claims. Some tips on finding a style that corresponds with your personality or lifestyle, how to make it your own, shop for it, and keep it updated...that's what I thought I was buying. Too bad.

4-0 out of 5 stars Look your best
Did you ever wish you knew why some women always look so, "together?" What's their secret? This book is a great help to discovering what kinds of clothes look best on you and how to buy and care for clothes that will make you look terrific. I didn't find the entire book helpful, but I think the tips I did get out of the book have helped me dress in a more flattering manner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Expression of Ideal Clothing
What I loved about this book was its superb and very well illustrated outline of what makes a piece of clothing ideal in terms of fit and cut. By drawing my attention to certain areas of fit that I was not considering, this book inspired me to get rid of many pieces of clothing which were nice but did not fit me properly and therefore did not flatter me. That made a HUGE difference in how I felt about my clothes!

I discovered Kevyn when Oprah had him on. He worked wonders with and on women and men. He shows "Possibilities" to all of us; male or female. All of his books are worth having in your library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another excellent book, but, again not for asians
I love Kevyn Aucoin and his talent. He's amazing with his brushes and colors.
4-0 out of 5 stars Kevyn Aucoin doesn't think very highly of you.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Technique
The book makes doing eyebrow shaping look easy...and it not only looks easy- by following a few steps it turns out it IS easy. If you want to learn the basics- buy this book. If you want to do a home makeover- go glamorous, sensual, then fun later on - buy this book. If you want to tune your look a bit- get it! I guess I don't have to go on, but if you are like me and need a bit of instruction and cant afford a makeup artist to be at your beckon call- buy this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mostly Black & White Photos!
You would think that a book on makeup -- especially at this price -- would contain many more color photographs. After all, successful makeup is dependent upon illusions of color as well as light and shadow.
5-0 out of 5 stars A very thorough textbook...Highly recommended
This book is recommended in several pro makeup sites [...] and for a good reason. This book is a must-have for all the professional makeup artists. The book talks about all aspects of makeup- from straight beauty makeup, to special effects, appliances and hair techniques (applying moustaches and beards). The appendix itself is worth the price of the book. It talks about what should be in a makeup kit, product recommendations and comparisons, and what to expect when trying to get into a union. I love, love, love this book. I can't say enough good things about it, and have constantly relied on it for accurate information regarding makeup applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Book Written Just for You; It Answers the Nagging, "Why?"
This relationship book is the best out there!I haven't read lots of relationship books, but I don't have to in order to know that I'm right.Woman or man, this book helps explain why we chose the partners we chose, why we expect the wrong things, why we expect the right things at the wrong times, what we do to push people away, and how to change so that our relationships work.
5-0 out of 5 stars Almost everything
This book has almost everything for those (i.e., all of us from time to time) who run amok in the uncertainty and anxiety of romance. Some who write on this subject merely employ sweeping generalizations which they beat into the ground throughout their book. Dr. Sills is a great writer who analyzes the complex world of romance. She makes it easy to understand how our drives and emotions can rush us into poor decisions. She fails to touch on one subject that many people find important in romance--spirituality. "Fine Romance..." is nonetheless the pre-eminent book on the subject.

5-0 out of 5 stars Should be required reading
This book was recommended to me by someone I met on line...I was struggling with some of the aspects of relationships...he told me he had found it most helpful....WOW what a find...started reading with pink highlighter in hand...had to keep reminding myself that if I highlighed everything, highlighting would lose its value!!!! I am reading slowly and letting the words soak in...so much basic information and insight. Today I am here to buy 2 more copies to give as gifts...If you are wondering how you should act and what you should expect, etc. This is the place to find out... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
This book was a huge disappointment. It was very basic and very vague. For example, it would tell you to shape the brow to make their face look longer or shorter, but it wouldn't tell you how to shape the brow in order to do that. All the pictures were small, in black and white, and it was hard to see any detail.I kept on reading on, hoping that I was going to get to the good stuff, but the good stuff never came.I truly felt like I learned nothing and it was supposed to be an instructional book.A waste of money.I was debating returning it, but it doesn't seem worth it to go to the post office and have to pay for shipping it back.
