Cure HIV/Aids with diet, exercise and castor oil packs?
While I have an excellent understanding of the metaphysical philosopy, the idea that one can diagnose and cure disease such as HIV and Aids with diet, castor oil packs and the like, is absurd. As a registered nurse, my first and only encounter with this author, leaves me unsure, other than book sales, why she would make this claim.
Misses the mark and with leaps in logic to hasty conclusions
I have to preface this review by saying that I am not a Caroline Myss fan.This is not based upon my past religious upbringing, but rather on her approach to an attempted synthesis between the Jewish, Christian and Hindu teachings on metaphysics and energy systems.In short, I think she missed the mark and tried to force fit areas together based more on her assumptions about reality than a natural meshing together of concepts.
mixed feelings
for most of my life, I have felt that a connection exists between our psychological and emotional experiences and the illnesses we develop, that in many ways our illnesses represent a metaphor for the emotional and spiritual crises that we go through.over the course of the last few years I have been exploring different forms of spirituality and healing practices that integrate spirituality with an understanding of the body.in a lot of places I would read references to the idea I described above, of illness as a manifestation of spiritual crises, but no one ever really seemed to go in to the subject at great length.so I was excited when I found Myss's book, as it seemed to delve deeply into this subject, and also explored the relationship between healing and mysticism.

The Archetype Cards are a Fabulous Writer's Tool
These cards are great as a writer's tool. I bought The Archetype Cards by Caroline Myss to help in my writing.
Beautiful but not brilliant
We carry all of our archetypes in our psyche. The problem with this deck is that there are too many and the instructions are not clear enough on how to work with the selections you choose. It's a bit of information overload and complicated to someone whose not too familiar with astrology, etc. For the serious Jungians this is great but for the rest .... be prepared to study.

Very Surprised!
I bought this book not knowing fully what it was all about.I was very surprised to discover that my 3rd grade daughter has been doing these exercies since kidnergarten, just under a different name - Brain Gym.Many exercises are the same, they just have different names such as cross crawl, brain buttons, turning our listening ears on, etc.They have definetly helped her in school. Her teachers have taught them to her, so I am excited to learn the exercises too.

Fascinating book!
This was the first book Ive read of Carolyn Myss and I loved it!She really explains things, and I got the audio CDs of her workshop with this which really helped explain things as well, though the book goes into far more depth.Her ideas really worked for me, and they make a lot of sense.

Doesn't quite achieve what is promised
I think this book is great, awesome even, for finding archetypical patterns in your life and figuring out how to overcome some self-defeating behavior. However, I did not find this book useful in discovering my Sacred Contract. Seeing different aspects of my personality, roles, and shadow is very useful but it doesn't quite tell me what my purpose in life is. I read this book a few years ago and was in a very different place in life. At that time I had a number of different archetypes in my life, so I don't agree with Myss's idea that these archetypes represent a Sacred Contract, because we change over the years. I also don't understand why she considers the child, victim, prostitute, and saboteaur to be four everyone has when Jung believed the four were self, shadow, anima, and animus. What I found particularly disturbing is the way Myss took astrology, Jungian psychology, chakras, Eastern philosophy, Judiasm, Christianity and Islam and mish-mashed all of them into one book. I get the feeling that Myss has no idea what she believes. And why would you use these archetypes in place of the planets in astrology!? That idea seems absurd to me. This book reminds me very much of Embracing Our Selves: The Voice Dialogue Manual by Hal Stone and Sidra Stone. Had the book been presented more like that book was presented, I think it would have been much more effective.

Excellent to understand your life...
This book has been more than I expected in helping me understand my purpose in living.Helping me to identify my 12 "archetypes," which seemed so natural to me, Myss then shows how to refer to these natural patterns to make needed adjustments and changes.It has been most helpful in understanding the people closest to me, especially my spouse.I highly recommend this book to anyone patient enough to do the homework to help indentify and live with more awareness and purpose in life. ... Life Altering
This is a valuable book for any person where they consider themselves to be well adjusted and no one's doormat, or if they know their self esteem is lacking. The message is not about contemplating the navel but about practical action. This book should come before any other self help book especially weight loss books! Absolutely brilliant!

Surprisingly disappointed
I was greatly anticipating receiving my CD and listening to this famous metaphysical woman while I drive the streets of Houston.Unfortunately, I found her voice to be somewhat monotone and boring to listen to.I also found her attitude to be somewhat condescending. I did hear something new which is that our generation is the first that can truly create their own realities.I've haven't even been interested in finishing the last CD of the 4 CD set. I had read her first book and was impressed with the content. I realized I was looking for someone as energized and entertaining as Lynn Grabhorn's CD version of Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting.Caroline isn't.I realize that not everything out there is for everyone and this audio book just doesn't work for me.

Not Just about will power
Myss is very insightful about many things.Though she is continually abusive in her lectures.I have found that people who defend her have somekind of abuse in their past and seem to be taking on the role of defending the abuser.

Self Help Personal Growth and Responsibilities
I found this series to be beneficial to my personal growth and healing.Caroline went into detail about how she applies her technical formal training with spirituality principals to help the novice like me to view the responsibility of self growth and communion with others.I listen to this series again and again, yet, I learn something new about self each time.This series has and continues to help me.People ask me what I am doing as I seem more positive and the only thing I can say I am doing different is listening and reading to Caroline Myss's books.

Empowering... if that's what you really want
Why People Don't Heal and How They Can (WPDH) is a (potentially) valuable and empowering piece of non-fiction literature in the field of self-health and healing. It sheds light on many truths gleaned by Caroline's personal and direct experience in working with thousands of people wanting (and not wanting) to heal physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually.
People Do Heal--just not all at once
In Why People Don't Heal and How They Can, Caroline Myss Ph.D and medical intuitive, explores healing from using the age old energy chakra system. As in her previous book, Anatomy of the Spirit, Ms. Myss explains the ages old concept of the 7 energy chakras found in the human body and how their balance (or lack of it) affects our health. But here she takes those concepts a step further, relating them to both the 2,000 year long astrological ages and 7 Christian sacraments. Those may seem like conflicting philosophies but the symbolism as it plays out in our culture and in our daily lives was surprisingly pertinent. The Aquarian Age energy underlies holistic thought-and in terms of healing represents the increasingly recognized concept that we cannot heal part of an organism without treating the whole of it-body, mind and spirit.

At home therapy
If you think that you might benefit from "therapy", listen to these programs.A large part of the effort of therapy is getting an individual to open to themselves, to see themselves as they really are, as a precursor to making changes in their life.Caroline Myss's recordings of "Energy Anatomy" and "Advanced Energy Anatomy" open the door to that introspection, giving you a framework in which to see your past life, and present actions.True, you may not agree with everything she says.But I guarantee you will find yourself nodding in agreement over and over again, at the insightful ways she presents the workings of human minds and emotions.And you will find Caroline Myss offering you answers to many of the questions you've asked yourself ("Why do I do this?""Why did I do that?") over the years.I'm not recommending you forego therapy, if you really need it.Professional therapy can be very valuable.But I am saying that Caroline's recordings are a terrific way of getting in touch with yourself, and seeing yourself clearly (maybe for the first time), regardless of whether you want to pursue professional counseling, or not.And because (as Caroline says) the mind and emotions are prime determinants of the health of the body, this is an excellent series for anyone interested in taking good care of their body, and creating the best health possible for a vibrant and very happy life.

Condescending
I listened to the first Energy Anatomy set and loved it, so I bought the Advanced set.I was disappointed.There is less actual material, more pontificating.Fewer real life stories, more bold, brazen and mostly unusable assertions.Above all there is far less charm, humility, humor and humanity.Myss must have a clientele of new-age noodle heads who enjoy being berated.Or maybe she's just sick of her audience.But she says a lot of things like "you have no idea what the consequences of any action will be, and your foolish to think you do".Well, if that were true, getting from your bathroom to your car in the morning would be impossible, right?She says "you have absolutely no idea how much you've been influenced by the social mind."Well, actually I've given this quite a bit of thought, Carolyn, but then you wouldn't know that because YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA who I am. Fantastic, life changing and insightful
Caroline's wisdom is remarkably shared with examples that I can understand and encompass.This is not my first Caroline Myss tape, but it has helped me more than I can write.I'm from a family of "victim" archetypes and I have a tendency to overspend when I'm letting my "child" archetype have control of my thoughts.Caroline's tapes have helped me make positive changes in my life that I would have taken years to even comprehend before these tapes.Buy the CD version because you will want to listen to the lessons over and over. ... Absolutely Worth getting if you relate to Caroline Myss.
This is the most involved CD and Workbook set from Caroline that I have ever had the pleasure of owning.It is a very detailed tool box, and one that will provide hours of opportunity for self-reflection and awareness. Caroline Myss and Norman Shealy (MD) speak on the CD's. Dr Norm Shealy has some fascinating medical details concerning the visualisations contained within this series and their effect on raising the levels of Calcitonin and DHEA (as well as some other hormones) for example.Read more

MAJOR REMIX

Not as interesting.
I think of Caroline Myss' other two books as adding to my information and spiritual knowledge.This boook however does not have the same effect.It's main theme is to 'pay it forward'.

Carolyn Myss gets it. . . she really gets it

Beautiful and Brilliant
These illuminating and illustrious images are vivid and I suspect there is a bit of color healing going on in their design. Simple healing messages that can get deeper as you meditate on the statement chosen throughout the day. Healing begins with the mind and changing our thoughts are one way to fine ourselves in better spirits.

5 Stars For The Artwork, 1 Star For Content
Healing Cards is a beautifully illustrated 50 card deck. The size of the cards are 5.5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide--the exact same size as the Archetype Cards by Myss. Artist Janice Fried illustrated both decks, as well; in fact, I couldn't help but wonder when looking at the Healing Cards if some of the images were originally intended for the Archetype deck. The image from one of the Healing Cards is the exact same one that's on the front of the newer version of Myss' Journal Of Inner Dialogue.
"Only looking at the cards can bring healing"
Today I bought The Healing Cards. This deck is astounding beautiful. I own otherdecks like the Louise Hay and Dr. Wayne Dyer; but they are not as beautiful illustrated as this. I was very disappointed as the only credit given to the artist "Janice Fried", is at the back of the case, in very little letters. I found this incredibly odd, as the cards are a beautiful metaphor of the words, only "looking at the cards can bring healing".I don`t know why the publishersdid this, It seems someone does not give importance to art as a healing tool."Janice Fried" images are of a very spiritual nature. With naked innocence, the illustrations transmit the words of Caroline`s essence.Read more

Ready to get practical?
OK, you've bought all the tapes and crammed yourself full of archetypal and chakra concepts. Now, how does it work in practical everyday living? That is always my bottom line--enough theory, already, how does it work? This is a GREAT set of get-real-and-get-moving tapes. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is serious about the Myss approach.

Decent but not what I expected
If you already have an extensive Caroline Myss library, no need to purchase this-it's nothing you haven't heard before.I was hoping that it would draw in some new insights into harnessing intuitive powers but it was more of a lecture on "getting over yourself" and a loose interpretation on recognizing your wake-up calls. Although you got to love Caroline Myss-she really de-mystifies mystical journeys and grounds you squarely back into our real world with our real dramas. Do I feel more intuitive as a result of listening to the workshop?-Good question, can't really answer that.The results aren't in yet.

Courage & Self Esteem Crucial To Intuition

Hmmm...
I was skeptical of this book at first but immediately was drawn into the teachings from two differently disciplined people with one theory. What makes the book seem more credible to me was that Shealy is a medical doctor interested in holistic teaching, while Myss studied spirituality and holistic teaching and applies it to the medical field. More than anything, I saw this book as a great stepping stone to where the medical sciences are bound to go in the coming of our "New" age.I think eventually this book and the ideas presented in it need to be taken (and will be taken)into serious consideration by the medical field, as the examples used were believable and things I have seen myself. Interesting?Yes. Believable?Maybe.
While Myss and Shealy's book is interesting and thought provoking in that it introduces novel information regarding the mind-body connection, it lacks the scientific support that would make it entirely believable.Though the book's credibility is enhanced by the fact that Shealy is a medical doctor, there are far too many statements throughout that leave the reader wondering where the information came from and if it is backed by any research studies.Many valid points and theories are presented, however, they tend to be mixed in with very subjective and u
